    I’ve got a 2004 LS 430 fully loaded and I’m at 170k miles I’ve had the Air suspension and basic transmission work done and I’m happy... The car stayed in the family was my grandpas he bought it new in 2004 for just above $70,000 and the car is amazing. Good luck on yours!

      The ultra Luxury model with air ride sounds great on paper and I just looked at a 2004 UL in FL that was serviced for the rear struts/air bag for $3100 (granted that was at the dealership). The front was leaking and there was a few other issues with it so I didn't get it.
      It's not a fault of the car but more of the air suspension, I've had cars with air suspension and they all needed to be replaced before 100k. Hope yours is trouble free for miles to come.

    I bought my Lexus out of Florida in 2018, where the Kids took the LS430 from the original owner parents after having some small accidents (3) and repair work done on the car...carfax checked and all minor, so we bought it at 92000 miles and has been a great buy for us. I had 4 LS400's since 2001 and sold all to our sons and neighbors previously and did not lose any money on any of these. Of course most things are objectively view from each drivers perspective. I personally use the rear sunshade button whenever I have all 4 windows down because I don't want to put more wear on the sunshade. I had to replace one on a Jaguar and they're pricey.

    With the smart access you can open the trunk from with the key fob. Also, you don’t need to insert the key fob to start the car; it’s keyless start, but the cool part is you still get to turn the lip you insert the key fob into to start the car. Toyota designed it that way to appeal to the average consumer; 50+ year olds, to give them the same experience as using an analogue key. Brilliant car.

    I have a 2005 LS430 Ultra Luxury Pkg. It came a Valet fob and a main fob. The main has a trunk button. The main fob also allows access to doors and trunk when you stand next to the door with the fob in your pocket. You can also push the unlock button 3Xs, hold on the 3rd push, and all the windows will roll down and you can use the manual release to the left of the steering column.

  • @St.Moritz

    The place of the center buttons are made totally ergonomic by the engineers. You are the first one who complains! 80+% of all LS430's and Celsiors worldwide have more buttons then you have. Yours is just extremely bold. Air suspension costs an arm and a leg? Its only 1000 dollar per corner to replace? I never ever touched the footbrake with my leg. Millions of cars in the world like the Mercedes w124, w140 and many more models have the same system at the same place and nobody is complaining. There is no UGLY exposed button on the trunk so nobody can steal your stuff when you are in the car, but there is still a button hidden next to your licenceplate light on your right hand. All your dislikes happen to be perfectly designed and well thought over elements. You really want to know a real dislike??? The biggest dislike thinkable is that they will never ever make a car as good as the LS430 again. Your first ever RUclips-video is about non existing dislikes of the best car in the world ever made... You failed with your subject in my opinion.

    • @thecarchak
      @thecarchak  4 года назад +5

      Not really complaining, just observations. :)
      The air suspension on my S8 was $1585 per corner just for the part and the front went out in pairs so that was fun. The air suspension on my allroad was only $585 per corner. Both Prices are just for parts not labor and thank god I did both cars myself. The air suspension on my Jaguar Super V8 was a $1000 per corner, this one the dealership did for me. So I've had some experiences with air suspension and that's why I'm glad my daily driver is on struts and coils.
      There are now exterior button for the trunk on this car that I purchased. Maybe yours has the advanced key package?

At Least on mine Those buttons seem better tucked away beside the seat AC controls. I rather look at the wood. I always hit that power button and that's why it's up higher. You can insert it into the ignition and turn to start it. their is a button under the steering wheel to activate the smart key then you dont even need to insert the key in the ignition just turn the ignition to start. Kind of weird but it works. Also, mine has an exterior trunk button. That may be due to the fact that I have a smart key.

    I'm not sure what the two gripes are regarding the ebrake pedal and the trunk. 90% of drivers bend their left knee and put their foot on the floor. The trunk button makes entire sense. If you're outside, you'll usually have the keys with you and you just hit the fob button. If you're inside, you just hit the trunk button. It's all for security, why the hell would you want another mechanical button that can be compromised on the outside?

There's no reason a base model, $55k dollar car should not have an external remote trunk release button. It has a soft-close trunk lid just like my audi S8 but they skip the button for safety reason? Awesome cars. I've had two low mileage LS430's and they're still in the family. Why sell them?
    My biggest bugaboo with em is that I like to leave mine running when I go into the gas station and just lock it manually with an extra key I keep on my keyring on my belt.
    Problem is- that the key wont unlock the car when it's running and I cant pop the trunk either.
    driver side,
    Super illogical place that's hard to reach. It's extremely annoying.
    Lexus did the same thing on my LX470.

    • @thecarchak
      @thecarchak  3 года назад

      I think most cars are like that where they won't allow the key fob to lock the car if running. I don't get why they made the trunk auto-latch but didn't give us a button on the trunk lid to unlock the dang thing. makes very little sense.
      You're absolutely right about these cars though, super comfortable and extremely reliable. I keep it as my daily driver and backup car. I'm at 130k and a few little issues here and there but nothing major. Just did the pads and will do rotors next on this car.
      I would like to get into the new GS F, gotta wait until those depreciate a little more, just to see how much progress they've managed out of these newer vehicles.

    • @thecarchak
      @thecarchak  4 года назад

      Fumble has such a negative connotation and my observation was merely to point out the fact that as a use case engineer, someone should have thought that a small percentage of their cars will be equipped with the ultra luxury package so therefore makes more sense to have the buttons laid out differently. I would guess that they put the ultra luxury related buttons on top because of "prestige". A lot more goes into design and layout than most people would care to think.
      How did you deduce that nobody uses the navigation systems in cars anymore? I love things that are made well with a lot of thought and care. It's one of the reasons I still use the navigation in my tsx.
