Only thing I’ve done is add a Vaistech SL3B Bluetooth receiver which links perfectly with the stock radio and steering wheel controls. I bet that the smart key does work. Try pressing that tiny button way underneath the right side dashboard. It turns the smart key system on and off. Its next to the button that clears the red warning light. The reason I think it may work, is because its a Lexus, and everything that ever works, always works.
I agree I owned a Lexus ls400 and it was amazing aside with a sticky speedometer around summertime.Though the gm 3800 engine v6 is by far the most bulletproof reliability when it comes to daily driver, easy to maintain and take apart yourself.Cheap water pumps, alternators & amazing half a million miles in reliability.Gm stopped making these in 2008.Park avenues 97-2005 would be my choice to buy if you want a cheap classy reliable American luxury car that equals to a any Japan kaizen reliability.🇺🇸came thru with the 3.8 best v6 engine for the money by far!

Base model has everything your car has except the dated screen and the back seat massage feature. I don't ride in the back so i didnt care about having the seat massage device. I owned 2 base models and they are every bit just as cool to drive as the luxury model you have. I just bought an 06 with 72K on it and it drives like a dream. It competes with even the newer cars today and can beat most of them out. My first LS430 was an 04 I picked up with 45k on it. I pushed it to 248k before i totaled it and was heartbroken when that happened. So much so that I bought another one!

Unfortunately, these are starting to get expensive. I looked at an 06 yesterday with 42k and owner is asking $17k. It’s black on black in awesome condition but I think it’s a lot of money.
I love my LS430 . We also had a Lexus SC400 that we’ve since sold. I noticed your comment stating that “you don’t want to get a Base model.” I would have to disagree on that statement wholeheartedly. I also have a GX470. The Non-Nav ones are the ones that are the most sought after due to being more expensive to swap out….plus it looks very dated. Since the Navigation model uses the screen for the Heat/AC, it makes it more expensive and difficult to swap out. Some people uses the Tesla hardware but I’ve read that it has some bugs. My 2002 GX470 has been easily upgraded w/Apple CarPlay unit. The LS will get the same treatment. End the end, I feel it’s just what each person prefers. Nothing wrong with the Navigation units as long as they don’t have any issues.
The spec seems to vary slightly country to country. My Irish (Co Offaly imported into the North) one owner 2006 is not the luxury model but I do have air suspension, MS audio and Nav (with an updated DVD) rear electric blind heated and cooled front seats with heated rear, double glazing and no sunroof. Parking sensors were standard. I had to change the speedometer pod as it was in KPH and we have MPH up here. I may have mentioned it before but at the age of the car if your timing belts have not been changed I recommend that asap. My car had 79,000 miles on it and the belt had started to wear. On the air suspension my car had the fronts changed by the previous owner at a cost of almost 3000 euros so I am not too worried about that :) As for the snow, yeah its ok but any large amounts leave it at home :)
For tires, get a Michelin Cross Climate. It is an all season that is a certified snow tire. The only annoying thing is that early on they have a hum at low speeds. It goes away with use.
DID YOU KNOW? This model LS has keyless entry and start so you can start the car without inserting the key to the key entry by the steering. I just found that out about mine!! Great so you don’t ever have to take out your keys!!!!
I drive an LS430 as well. On the note about wanting the ultra luxury package but not wanting a ride suspension. Good choice because you can get a sturdy aftermarket sway bar to reduce body roll and stiffen your handling while giving you better traction that you need with the rear wheel drive.
Any owners have had or not had the timing belt replaced? I'm 15000 miles past due (2003). Have had trouble with the auto headlight leverler , now temporarly fixed by taking out the fuse; and the LR door closer/lock broke due to a cheap little piece of plastic breaking. Wish it had a secondary sun screen. OW great car.
This video was perfect -- thanks for the intro and explaination in the beginning and getting straight to the details about the ownership of the car. I've also been wanting one for a while too, but prices are going up and those one-owner cars are getting harder to find.
Agreed though, they're great cars. Look great, ride great, pretty reliable, can be found used for reasonable prices, etc. What more could you ask for, ya know?
I noticed alot of people saying they are keeping their Lexus forever. I feel the same way about my GS! I also plan to purchase a older LS as a project car.
Looks & sounds like a real comfy ride (even quieter if you use the roof shade).. I just prefer the smaller ES V-6 (I have a 2010) to the LS V-8 only because they’re cheaper to repair with those two fewer cylinders. I think the starter on that car is a major pain to replace due to its location but who knows, it might never fail. Good luck.
You can get an aftermarket head unit for the sat nav I got one these one on Amazon that I got mine from it make a lot of different you get modern sav nav Bluetooth etc
Thanks, again great video and description of theLS430. Does yours have Adaptive Front-Lighting System? On those curves and at night, its way cool to see the headlights swing this way and that for improved visibility. By the way, my UL has air suspension and its working just great. I think to many put the scare in it for a few that have had issues.
You don't see aot of LS430 in your area because people couldn't afford it when it was brand new.... here in CALIFORNIA, they are everywhere.... southern CALIFORNIA is Lexus country...... for those who plan to buy an old LS430, make sure to get it from the CALIFORNIA, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, or Texas
WOW that car is immaculate!!!! Great Find!!! The LS is my favorite car overall. Cant beat it.. Ive always been curious how the RWD handles in the snow. I have only ever had AWD versions, which do perfectly fine in inclement weather..
If you remember me. I made a comment from your last vid about my Lincoln MKS AWD. If you wanted to see it before i trade it. Btw nice informative vid on your Lexus LS 430!
I have the same car , year color and package. I could only Bluetooth for calls and not music. I updated that so I can Bluetooth music ,, kept the same radio/nav setup. Got rid of the stock sub and installed 2 8 inch digital design subs and amp. Made a world of difference and doesn’t take up very much room. Great review
Hi Kyle, for your smartkey, have you checked the button under the dash? If it's bumped then smart access turns off. Also I'm around Philly, do you use an indie Lexus mechanic that you'd recommend? I've an 04 LS430. Thanks.
140,000 miles???? That is half way through its life... that Lexus LS430 has a v8 engine that is a modified version of the engine in the Toyota Landcruier 100 series. So it will go 300,000 miles or 25 years before any major problem emerges.... the v8 in the Toyota Landcruier was built to meet strict criteria set by the UN since the Lancruiser is the official vehicle used by the UN to travel to remote areas of the world... the Lexus LS430's V8 will last 25 years or 300,000 miles.
@@KylePantano I bought the Lexus version of the Toyota Landcruier 100 series from a couple in Beverly Hills. The husband was working as dentist. Drives like a dream.. it looks so bold and beautiful. So rate too. It's a 2006 model year, end of production cycle. Then last year I bought a LS460L fully loaded without the executive backseat that come with a massage system. I also bought a 2006 SC430 too. A few months ago, I bought an RX400h model year 2009... I love them all. No problem with any of them. Now I'm hoping to buy a pristine condition 2006 LS430... they will last me forever
I drive the second best car built in the world ,My 1999 E38 728I ,just hit 200 ,000 miles lstill like a swiss watch ,lots of power and less fuel than a lexus 430 . And just a quiet .
Regarding your smart key.. have you tried the activation/deactivation button way down under the steering wheel? I thought mine was broken too until I looked in the manual, and apparently you can turn it on/off. I think the old person that had it before me thought that just anybody can hop in and start the car..
Have you tried the PWR mode? It changes the shift points AND the actual suspension firmness - keeps the car flat and controlled on those back-road runs like you filmed.
I liked the video. I bought an '04 base with the smart key access back in August...my very first used car. But I feel like it's a new car with 140k. I did buy four original rims for snow tires (Blizzaks) back in October. I drove back and forth on I-76 recently through the Allegheny Mtns. and was very glad to have them when it was snowing (both ways of course!). Might be something you will want if you travel away from the coast. I like your floor mats..what are they?
over 200 thousand is not bad. i have an LS400 with over 200 thousand and it runs fine . i own for over 6 years. i would like to own a 430 . really nice cars. I also own a 92 Mercedes S class. The Lexus is much more reliable but not as sophisticated.
Love your videos....we have an 06 LS430 purchased in 2010. There is a whistling noise coming from the windshield area when driving around 75-80mph. Can you tell me how to repair this or if anyone else has this problem? It is very annoying. We sometimes have to open the sunroof to offset the noise.
Have you figured out what's wrong with the smart access system? My 06 has 69k miles but its having intermittent locking/unlocking issues. The dealership thinks it "might" be a rear door lock actuator issue but they can't guarantee that it will be fixed if I spend the $700 to replace it. I took it to two independent shops who couldn't diagnose the issue. I can unlock the drivers door but unlocking the other three doors is random. The smart access works when it feels like it. It's a new key from Lexus so there's no fob battery issue or anything.
I don’t agree on the sound system assessment. I sold plenty of Mercedes and been in enough. I don’t think they are any better than the old ls, even the 2015-16 ones. However, I had an earlier ML and now have stock, and in real terms, there is not much dif.
I will be soon getting one of these that has around 150k miles, would you recommend it if it has that much of a mileage, I also see it was well maintained through carfax.
A voice over would have been good, I was looking forward to hearing it but too much low noise which you don't hear when driving for my sound setup and I would have to turn the volume up too much for voice, my disabled daughter would get upset, I am sure it is a great report, love these cars, I have a 400 and would like a nice 430.
Love the video. I'm currently looking for this exact car and I found one on CL with 135,000 miles on it. Is there anything specifically that I should be careful before pulling the trigger to purchase?
I can feel the comfort through my phone screen.

What year and mileage
Yes people try to scare you with suspension stories. This a Lexus not a Benz. I push the button on a fully loaded '08 UL.
That wood trim is so early 2000s. Unfortunate that it can't be changed out.
I wish the first owner of mines took as good of care as yours but nonetheless love everything about it!
Hi Kyle, for your smartkey, have you checked the button under the dash? If it's bumped then smart access turns off. Also I'm around Philly, do you use an indie Lexus mechanic that you'd recommend? I've an 04 LS430. Thanks.
I tried that. The button is turned on and unfortunately I can’t recommend anyone at this time. I haven’t needed to do any major repairs yet.
Good detailed vid looking for either an LS or GS for my first whip
140,000 miles???? That is half way through its life... that Lexus LS430 has a v8 engine that is a modified version of the engine in the Toyota Landcruier 100 series. So it will go 300,000 miles or 25 years before any major problem emerges.... the v8 in the Toyota Landcruier was built to meet strict criteria set by the UN since the Lancruiser is the official vehicle used by the UN to travel to remote areas of the world... the Lexus LS430's V8 will last 25 years or 300,000 miles.
That’s my dream SUV, a 100 series!
The air suspension is a nightmare eventually. Change over to springs if it goes.
I drive the second best car built in the world ,My 1999 E38 728I ,just hit 200 ,000 miles lstill like a swiss watch ,lots of power and less fuel than a lexus 430 . And just a quiet .
i got a CL with 330k miles and clean af with no lights on the dash after 3 months
Nice video about the ownership experience. Too bad they're not very common where I live, it's mostly GS's and IS's over here for some reason
Same with my area. You rarely see this. If you ever see an LS it’s the newer ones with AWD. No one is brave enough to have a RWD car here.
Regarding your smart key.. have you tried the activation/deactivation button way down under the steering wheel? I thought mine was broken too until I looked in the manual, and apparently you can turn it on/off. I think the old person that had it before me thought that just anybody can hop in and start the car..
Yes I tried that. Didn’t fix it unfortunately
@@KylePantano Are you sure you tried the right button? There are two next to each other and the other is for tire pressure reset.
So question. Couldn’t someone with a little electrical prowess get a 4k screen minimal and solder it in place of the outdated screen? Just curious?
Hey did u know u have a small thin sun visor under ur mirror and u have cubbies under both of your seats
Yes
How much did you pay?
Have you tried the PWR mode? It changes the shift points AND the actual suspension firmness - keeps the car flat and controlled on those back-road runs like you filmed.
Amazing video!
Loved your videos on this car! Do the rear seats fold down though?
Speaking so much of value, how much did you pick this thing up for? And how many miles?
I wonder how this car compares to the LS460 in terms of quietness, comfort and smoothness.
Such a clean car. Would you mind telling where you found it for sale?
Headlights prayers did you mention that had light sprayers? That's an awesome feature
Great car . I got 2001 sport suspect 2nd owner. 248k miles
Hey Kyle, do you still have this car????
What type of oil , synthetic or regular 5/30 and other factors concerning oil regularity!
They are weather techs!
@@KylePantano Thanks...they look like weather techs. But there is no LS430 weather tech mat...did you go with LS460 mats?
@@Zephyrdaze1819 no they’re for the LS430. I ordered them through autozone
over 200 thousand is not bad. i have an LS400 with over 200 thousand and it runs fine . i own for over 6 years. i would like to own a 430 . really nice cars.
So what do you people think about Mark Levinson?
If you think this LS430 is great, try the LS460L.....its way better....with so much of power and torque and extremely quiet and aerodynamic
It’s possible to buy a aux to cassette player for your car.
Is the equivalent year GX470 the same quality and reliability?
Crutchfield has speakers that are superior to the Mark Levinson speakers, and they are not expensive.
How did you put apple car play in there?
I don’t have it but there is a module you can get to have it
Currently looking at 07-08 TL's. Did you own that gen of Acura? How did it compare to the LS430?
Have you figured out what's wrong with the smart access system? My 06 has 69k miles but its having intermittent locking/unlocking issues. The dealership thinks it "might" be a rear door lock actuator issue but they can't guarantee that it will be fixed if I spend the $700 to replace it. I took it to two independent shops who couldn't diagnose the issue. I can unlock the drivers door but unlocking the other three doors is random. The smart access works when it feels like it. It's a new key from Lexus so there's no fob battery issue or anything.
Not yet. It doesn’t bother me really.
@@KylePantano it doesn't bother me either until it's raining and my fiance is giving me death glares because I can't unlock her door 😅
I still want one
can you like the carplay adapter?
I own 2 they are awesome!
I don’t agree on the sound system assessment. I sold plenty of Mercedes and been in enough. I don’t think they are any better than the old ls, even the 2015-16 ones. However, I had an earlier ML and now have stock, and in real terms, there is not much dif.
im looking at a 2001 ls430 it has 179,000m you think it would be bad to buy it or nah
I will be soon getting one of these that has around 150k miles, would you recommend it if it has that much of a mileage, I also see it was well maintained through carfax.
I love that covered bridge. Where is it located?
What’s the link for the apple car play ?
Say about how much would I have to pay for one with about a hundred and forty thousand miles.
$8500-$10000 maybe
@@KylePantano cool. Appreciate the feedback. 5 down 5 to go.
you would recommend a LS400 or 430 and what year? I'm really torn on what to get and what price, 430's with 100k miles around $11k near me right now
How do you know which ls430’s are base models or model luxury models?
I notice my LS430 is pulling to both sides. Any idea what the cause might be?
Do you still have this car?
How much you selling your car for Lexus ls430 thx
A voice over would have been good, I was looking forward to hearing it but too much low noise which you don't hear when driving for my sound setup and I would have to turn the volume up too much for voice, my disabled daughter would get upset, I am sure it is a great report, love these cars, I have a 400 and would like a nice 430.
Love the video. I'm currently looking for this exact car and I found one on CL with 135,000 miles on it. Is there anything specifically that I should be careful before pulling the trigger to purchase?
How much was it? Did you get it?
