I love how you're keeping these old Lexus barges on the road. I'm a fully paid up member of the Lexus fan club. I had a GS430 a couple of years back which had been converted to LPG. Lovely, comfortable car, if not the fastest thing on the road.
My collection currently consists of a Rx400H for family / towing duties and ISF for V8 fun. Absolutely fantastic cars.
    Really enjoy your content.

I'm not alone!!! Never seen another RX towing, had some odd comments over the yrs how it's an odd choice or didn't know they could tow. When you explain it always sets off in 4wd electric with all that instant torque, the penny drops. ☺

      @iansimpson8309 2 года назад +2

@@stippolyte Absolutely. I use ours for towing a 1500kg caravan. It does so with ease and in absolute comfort.
Not a fan of diesels and I love Lexus as a brand, so for a cheap, reliable family runaround that can tow, it seems an obvious choice.

    Love Lexus.
Started my career in a Toyota / Lexus showroom.
    Boss had the LS400.
He would stop in the car park to talk to us and then try and restart the engine when it was already running as they were so quiet (made a noise when you did that though!)
I'll get an LS some day I hope.

Last year I took your advice and bought my own 2005 LS430 Matt. I am SO pleased I did! She is a fantastic car! The previous owner actually works for Lexus and had her serviced every six months for the entire time of his ownership. She is everything you said they would be. Couldn’t recommend one highly enough! one thing that amused me: You set the temperature to 24 degrees to warm yourself up. Yesterday I set the temperature to cool myself down! Living in California. I owned from new 1991 Acura (Honda) Legend L- 4 door- 5 speed manual- unusual in USA. Very fast- very low stance- mid luxury. Stolen in 1996- returned but with too many parts removed for a sensible rebuild.
Currently mrs owns 2004 LS430- just over 200,000 miles. Properly taken care of since new.
Proper luxury car. Not nearly as sporty as the Legend but even now drives like new. Also quieter and slightly smoother.

I remember when Toyota launched the Lexus and the fear it caused in Stutgart at the time. They were serious S Class challengers that were extremely well made. And came with a superb warranty and the famous Toyota reliability and so easy to sell without any discount.
That looks like a good one once you spend the money on it . A proper big lump with that lovely V8. Priceless

Do follow the advice and do the radiator and oil cooler modification. The radiator let go on my GS430 last year and it cost me a replacement box!
The fitting where the gearbox fluid entered the bottom of the radiator (to the cooler inside) blew, releasing the fluid all over the road. By the time I'd pulled over, the gearbox was toast.
Also, bizarrely, that combination of warning lights (TRC, CHECK VSC, etc) could be an ill-fitting or not sealing fuel cap!
My last car - a 2005 facelift LS430 - was LPG converted and I rarely used the petrol fuel filler and every tank or so those warning lights would come on. I just removed and replaced the cap and it was fine after a couple of miles for it to register the fix.
One other thing... I drove mine in PWR mode all the time rather than NORM. Gearshifts happen slightly further up the rev range and the throttle response is better - PLUS, the fuel consumption is better in PWR mode (yes, really). The 430 seems to like just a few more revs than the normal mode gives it.
I would still have my LS430 except a rear air-shock gave up and it was too costly to fix. It died with 250k on the clock and everything else worked. It went to a Lexus specialist who will doubtless recycle all the good bits.

VSC and TRC Off lights on at the same time is normally something ridiculous like two back brake lights out. My Avensis does this.

Good info Matt. These were very popular in Dubai. I’m sure after the fixes it has many years left and should give the new owner reliable luxurious motoring. If you tint all the rear windows it would make a great courtesy car! 😎

I just bought two months ago LS 500h 2020 model with 15tkm on the clock and 9 years of warranty. The car runs well, but too many gears and you feel it sometimes,Too big though for an island of Tenerife!!!Here we have too much cars and too small roads. There are many parking places I do not dare to enter. But for now I'll keep the beast.I love it and it was the only one in the whole Europe with that combination of color and interior, kilometers and warranty...So,always look at the bright side of life, tiram taratartaram...🥳

Been driving mine here and there throughout the week. Put a stupid custom exhaust on it, which I kind of regret 2 years down the road. This car isn't meant for loudness or to sound aggressive. Thinking of trying to haul some factory exhaust parts together to rebuild the system, otherwise I will just get the shop to build an aftermarket setup that's built for quietness. I doubt they will have my factory parts in storage that they cut off, like the mufflers.

Hi Matt, hope you are well. Another super Lexus for the growing stable. I'm not sure I'd call them mudflaps, but you've a full set of mudthingies, quite a rarity on an LS. I looked into getting a set for my car - 600 quid from Japan, incl freight!! They do come colour matched to your car. 600!!! Nice wee car you've got there. Look forward to see how it turns out. Thanks for sharing.

If your SC is a similar era to your 430, I think they both had CD (or DVD) based satnav and you maybe able to burn a 'backup copy' of the 430 disc on a computer or I could do it for you and for safe keeping - keep- it in the SC.

Re multiple lights for just one problem, I had a TRC light and an engine light which both went away when I replaced the right front hub which had a bad wheel speed sensor in it.

Hi! Will look very smart! Fingers crossed you have found another good buy. There has to be market in impressive saloons. Pointing out the obvious but who would know with a personalised number plate. The wheels - sob! You are getting a bit of a Lexus theme. A lot of car for the outlay. Agree with Paulie re the colour. [The back office might need a regular Cleaner if customers are at risk of seeing it]

Nice motor. Wouldn’t mind one myself. Thinking of a big lump. Used to have a 2000 Daimler Super V8 LWB many years ago. Now I’m not driving all over the country might get something similar. Nothing like driving these big beasts. Note the number plate states McCarthy Cars. They used to have a big car front in Clapham Road, South London. My dad bought motors from them as far back as the 1970’s.
