My dad owns 2000 Land Cruiser. It rolls over 560k miles. It's still solid. Nothing seriously changed. Just a couple of top off oil and replace some spark plugs..... I can't wait one day, LC300 comes back North America.
What services does the TCCN recommend for a 15 Prius with 120k miles? The owners manual says one thing but I rather take advice from the expert, Thanks.
This is awesome!! I thought my 304,000 mile 2003 LS430 was doing good, lol!! I am so happy you are doing this and am super excited to come along on your pursuit of perfection!! Good work!!
I have a 2004 LS 430 that my wife and I had planned to drive into the ground. One owner, like this one, out of Santa Barbara with meticulous service history. Unofrtunately, she was involved in a hit and run and they wanted to total the vehicle out because of a bumper cover and fender that needed to be replaced. A little back and forth with the insurance company and they finally decided that it's worth more than they originally determined and it is no longer a total loss! We are in the process of getting it repaired and can't wait to have it back. It has 170K miles on it and clearly has a ton of life left in it. Our plan to drive it into the ground lives on! I will be following your videos on this LS 430 very very closely.
Good for you for having the back and forth with the insurance company. Most people probably just give up and go along, figuring "what chance do I have to change the insurance company's decision?" There are decent, reasonable people everywhere, even in the much maligned insurance business.
Looking forward to see how this turns out. I own a 2003 SC 430 and a 2010 ES 350. Purchased in part because I watch this channel. For us Canadians, your LS is already in the 1,000,000 club (km)….. Good Luck! and thanks for the great content!
Love your honest channel BUD! Im ex-machanic and work at home helping friends/family fixing there cars for cheap. Overpriced OEM parts only if you have lots of cash! Most of us on tight budget. There are good non-OEM parts if you know how to find them for alot less $$$, but most people dont.

I am absolutely looking forward to this series. I love the way you explain everything I've been in the car business my whole life I'm 60 years old. Really enjoy your stuff keep up the good work
Great to see this future classic go to someone who understands them and can bring them back. I'm doing the same with an '04 GX that was one more bad owner away from the scrap yard.
This man goes through this vehicle like a doctor walking through diagnosing everything top to bottom front to back. Down to if the parts are oem spec or not.. I LOVE IT!. as a fellow lexus lover(04 LS430 UL) i will be restoring and maintaining mine with oem parts as well.
This is amazing that a vehicle has that many miles on it in this day and age and is still running. Even though the car has problems, the undercarriage has no rust which means you have a good foundation to work on. Hope you get many good years of driving out of it since you want to take it to Million miles.
My grandfather once owned a Lexus in that exact same spec. Had me thinking it may be his until you said lexus of bellevue. A body shop messed up the electronics and he ended up selling it to the dealer. Very comfortable and enjoyable car. One of the best Lexus models ever made.
Please make this show room floor ready again! I would adore every minute watching you make this car perfect and get it appraised as if it were new! This is a truly amazing buy and I cannot be more thankful we have CCN to make videos of it!
AMD, I'm feeling your pain. I just got an '06 Avalon XLS with 125,000 miles. I got to see it and drive it, scanned it with my Ancel DIY scanner. Plastic covers missing retainers, no spare tire, no Cruise control. But starts, runs and drives nicely. Plugs were all used up but when I went to change them I found some hack had broken the connectors and so RTV'd them on the coils. Got that done, new clock spring fixed the Cruise found a tire. Suspension is good, power steering pump leaks. Must do motor mounts next. I love it, but it's a bear.
wow I went and looked at its carfax history and it is an impressive vehicle. one of the highest mileage cars I have ever seen. It was in an accident when it had around 100k miles on it but airbags did not deploy. D&S autocare in washington did the majority of the work on that car.
Testament to the quality of Lexus back then. That it has lasted this long AMD in spite of all the hack jobs that they have done to it . Looking forward to you bringing it back to life !
Great idea! I used to live in the PNW and actually bought a GX from Lexus of Bellevue. Anyway, my boss back in the early 2000s told me WA was a car person's paradise as the mild winters and rain and lack of salt made it so they don't rot or rust. I did see a lot of classic cars as daily drivers there, many diesel Mercedes and old Datsuns and Subarus. I heard they started salting the roads after 'snowmageddon' so maybe this old tale no longer applies. It was definitely worth it to get XPEL or 3M PPF to protect from those rock chips up there as some folks kept their snow tires or studs on in the summer and tore up the roads.
I have a 05 LS430. I had the same thing happen with the snapped license plate screws. However, I did not resort to drilling holes in the lower section but for the meantime I have my plate mounted with a magnetic dealer plate frame. Excited to see you making content with this car!
Not all aftermarket parts are junk. I've done my brakes with Brembo parts, for instance, and they are good quality. There are also aftermarket parts identical with the OEM, just w/o the logo and w/o the premium price tag. And with old cars, many times you get what you can find...
I impulse got a 2010 Lexus IS250 with 274000 miles the owner change the oil every 3000 miles, a little over kill but the engine looks 90% clean almost brand new.
For lack of a better way to describe it, this channel is above and beyond Doug De Hoovie, what’s his face and the rest of the hypemasters. It’s rare to find a guy this calm and collected like car 🚘🔧 care 🌰. Folks, may the Lord bless him and keep him.
Let’s gooo! Inherited a “sickly” neglected 02 (but only 120k miles) and did the timing belt using your other 430 video. Going to keep eyeballs on this project.
This car couldn't have found a better home than with the TCCN. This car will be given a second lease on life and I'm excited to see all these things fixed on it so it will run and drive like new.
I own two LS 430's, an 03' and an 04" ( I Have owned 5 in total LS 430's) the ones I own now both at 65K miles each, I had all the newer models LS460 and LS500-crap of a car! I just finally gave up and went back to the old school 01'-06" models which are bank vaults.......they just do not make them like they used to. I love driving these cars every day and alternate between the two to keep the miles the same. I saw the car you bought as the 600K miles caught my eye and I thought it still was a very nice looking car, great buy! Love your videos!
This is the kind of car I would love as a DIY project. Seriously, nothing super major bad with it. If the transmission does go out then yeah, that will be an expense but man, it's clean. For you Ahmed, should be no trouble at all getting it back perfect.
I’ve seen worse. I have no doubt you’ll get it sorted out. On the transmission not being happy cold, I recently had that issue with a Nissan Xterra a fixed for my son’s girlfriend. It wouldn’t engage drive when cold, you had to pull it into low, then it would go and shifted normally. I replaced the fluid in the pan and added some marvel mystery oil, then drove it for a couple days. It now shifts perfectly, goes in drive immediately when cold.
I'm looking forward watching the rest of this project and that's very correct that they do not produce any more good quality vehicles. I'm sure you will do it perfect as a good man and mechanic.
I am SO glad to see you taking care of this car the way it should be done! I bought a 05 LS 430 and loved it so much we gave it to our daughter.. In OUR relentless pursuit of perfection I replaced it with an 04 UL 430 with slightly higher miles, but with the 'saddle' interior and black exterior.... I replaced the timing belt and a few other things but I am also wanting this car in 'tip top' shape for my wife. I will be contacting you regarding getting the car to you for a complete inspection and what have you.. Probably be taking a short vacation your way soon... ! It'll be worth the 8 hour drive to come see you!!!
Very nice AMD! I saw this one on sale too! I did maintenance to my sisters and brother in law’s 2002 Corolla, 2006 ES330 and 2003 Sequoia. They’re out of Seattle and I could not believe how clean every bolt looked! Also your seats great for that many miles! It’s highway miles indeed
As soon as you said 600k + miles I knew it was LS430 which you have brought up that it was approved or certified for an Aviation Engine which screams reliability. And the LS400 has been done so really like this and idea that it will still be pristine at a million miles 👍🏻 My 07 sc430 is my favorite car I’ve ever had and like you say only genuine parts and it’s flawless LIFE IS GOOD 🤙🏻
It could have been a gs430? My 06 is a tank and an awesome running car today. Good maintenance goes a long way. I have owned it for its 240k and maintained it after its warranty ended. Gs430s are just as awesome as ls430s, especially if you want sportiness.
I wish you were by my side now when I am having some trouble with my 2018 Camry Hybrid LE 135k. I am even considering traveling up to Chicago to you from New York City.
You have gotten me into so much trouble with my wife…I have a mechanic shop in my garage right now. Just wait to save for a max jax and I am complete. I do all routine maintenance on my cars because of you. 😂
I'm really excited to see updates on this car and follow its progress. Should be a great series. If anyone can get this car to a million miles it will be CCN.
I had the first sedan Lexus when it was rolled out, exactly like that used it for a few years gave it to my sister and hubby who is a mechanic and they used it for more years till they sold it. No big issues they said. They just got tired of it. My hubby then bought me a brand new 2003 GX470 SUV. As a retired senior in 2023, I’m still using my SUV and it still feels comfy and functioning flawlessly like it did the first day, well considering it’s only 200k mileage. So maybe I’m just scratching the surface with it? Lexus is brand for life.

Very cool. These are wonderful cars and I have no doubt you'll do what's needed to refresh this great example. I'm looking forward to hitting 600,000 miles on my '01 4Runner next year. Currently at 577,200 miles, with all maintenance & repairs by me since the day I purchased it new. 👍🏻
Great video. As someone who has owned many high mileage vehicles, none of the issues on that car would scare me. I would do exactly what your doing and drive 'er. For what you likely paid for it, you'll get your money out of it.
I bought a 2010 Matrix for my teen age boys from a buddy who was offered $250 from the Hyundai dealer on a trade. 430,000 km. Passed safety after a set of tires and front brakes. Every service from new was done at the Toyota dealer. We are happy so far.
I’m working on a 96 Avalon 160k I’ve got her pretty close to new again. I had to put a new sound system and fill the a/c, I have to do something about drivers rear power window and moon roof. Engine and power train are excellent. Also I needed inner and outer toe rods and tires. But she rides like a dream now.
This will be an awesome series, we'll have to start calling Amd Hoovie 2. 😁 The big plus for this LS is that it didn't live in the rust belt. Remember folks, OEM parts is the only way to go. Seeing that aftermarket oil filter made me cringe thinking the oil change was probably done at the Jiffy Lube. 🤮Looking forward to my appointment at your shop next week! 18 Lexus owner here never driven in the winter.
Oem parts are NOT the way to go alot of the time for alot of reasons, some being aftermarket sometimes fixes weak or badly designed original parts. Also, some cars simply don't require a part 3 times the cost of aftermarket for the car to work or be safe. Not including that some oem parts are just outright scams that cost more than the value of the car.
@@J_h_420it depends honestly, my window motor went out on my 97 tacoma a while back. Check pricing on a oem Denso unit and price was over $400 for the motor alone. Ended up ordering a regulator and motor combo from RockAuto (picked the Aisin brand) for about $50. 6 months later still works great.
"fight with the seats" ?!! ? 22-yo car, 630k miles and you expect it to be pristine? Where's the logic in that? The car is a gem the way it is. It could easily drive 300k+ more
Looking very forward to seeing the progress on this one! Thanks for doing what you do, I really enjoy your videos, and I don't even own a Toyota (but I have, and will again). Your work ethic and approach transcend the brand of the car you're working on.

*Along with The Wizard are laughing all the way to the bank. YT's eyeballs monetisation is the name of the game.*
It only works for the rich among us.
Yeah, always nice to have a rich douche who gets even richer making people think buying junk is cute and funny when in reality, those situations financially ruin the average person, while Hoovie makes money hand over fist on it. 🤷♀️🤡🤦
Wizard is been telling people to buy Toyota for years.
@@tonymontana897 *Nah. Depends on your definition of "rich". Upfront it's a measly 5 large. Don't need to be rich to write that check. What comes next is a matter of time, dedication and funds allocation. Cheers!*
Car Care Nut, love this project and your approach to maintenance and repair. Looking forward to future videos on this car.
As an owner of a 2006 LS 430 with 108k miles, I am excited for the series of videos to follow.
Why am I shocked to see a car like this on TCCN? This is a match made in heaven, and the series will be fantastic. Maybe the best LS series to date.
I also owned a 2001 Lexus LS 430. One of my favorite cars. Was so reliable, smooth and ran like new with absolutely no rattles (@150k miles) before I traded it (I wish I never got rid of it).
This is going to make a great series. I would like to see you put a scanner on it and see what the story it tells us on the operating condition. Thanks Mike from Nebraska.
My dad owns 2000 Land Cruiser. It rolls over 560k miles. It's still solid. Nothing seriously changed. Just a couple of top off oil and replace some spark plugs.....
I can't wait one day, LC300 comes back North America.
The pursuit to perfection. Excellent content. I'm keeping up with this LS430 series.
What services does the TCCN recommend for a 15 Prius with 120k miles? The owners manual says one thing but I rather take advice from the expert, Thanks.
This is going to be an amazing project especially with the passion and expertise of AMD!!😊
Congratulations, so you were the winner of the bidding for this amazing car in cars &bids auction !.👍👏
This dude is the best. “The fine hacksmanship”. This is the perfect car for this channel. Do it. 👍
This is what I’m talking about. This is the content I want to follow. Looking forward to seeing this one through AMD!
I thought AMD makes cpu ?
@@Ilikepie18855 his name.
lol they make chips
Love your honest channel BUD! Im ex-machanic and work at home helping friends/family fixing there cars for cheap. Overpriced OEM parts only if you have lots of cash! Most of us on tight budget. There are good non-OEM parts if you know how to find them for alot less $$$, but most people dont.
I love this channel
AMD, love that you are saving another LS! Looking forward to seeing this LS make it to 1M miles! @DougDeMuro would love to see you talk about this on your channel
Very excited for this series! I watched this auction on Cars & Bids and there were several in the comments that were speculating you were the winner of this - and I'm glad that was the case! I'm a long time LS400/LS430 owner so I'm certainly going to be enjoying this series thoroughly. Try to get that odomoter to match your subscriber count!
That would be pretty cool, keeping it as his sub count lol
so what did he pay?
Any idea what he paid? Love this project
@@deborahdrake3627 $4,450 was the Cars and Bids auction number. Plus whatever fees, shipping, etc. would be associated
Please do repair videos on this please i love these cars and would love how a master tech does these repairs!
Got my Lexus service last week at TCCN and I noticed your LS. Looked pretty solid for 600K miles!
Congrats AMD!! Can't wait to see this project unfold.
I had one in 2003, family car for 10 years, drove over 200k miles...no major issues at all. Bullitt proof V8 !!
I had this generation LS430, maybe the finest car I've ever owned. Imagine a Bentley, but insanely reliable and easy to maintain.
Graduates of Shade Tree Tech serviced that car.😀

Love your passion for cars! Please keep us updated!
When it comes Toyota/Lexus he’s the best!
Oh man. I didn't expect you to venture out on THIS particular youtube mechanic's journey. Looking forward to it!
What a beautiful car, absolute legend! looking forward to part 2 thanks AMD!🙂
This guy has one of the best camera people on RUclips🎉
My 400 has 535,000. I believe these cars are definitely the best car ever made.
Keep us updated! Interested to see all the work thats done and how much it costs for all the parts. Love the content!
The car has a new daddy and is crying tears of joy knowing that it literally couldn't be in any better hands.
You are so good with these cars or engine reviews, I was busy doing my thing when YT suggested your video and you made it so interesting that I spent the next hour watching - I'm subscribing!
Cool project, million kilometres! I watch all your videos, but ill be watching this even closer. Keep up the good work.
Love this new Car Care's Garage channel 🤣
I love this project. I look forward to seeing this come together!
Amazing to see these cars last as long as they do. You’re doing an awesome thing trying to get it to 1M miles! 🙌🙌
This guy is great mechanic. He explains everything so easy.
@@doomkid02 so with OEM costing +8x aftermarket, do you really think OEM will last 8x longer?
It's a Mann oil filter, can't really get much better than that...
@@billmellater in my case with the window motor i dont believe so. But with something like an alternator or starter then yes absolutely it will.
