Bought a 2002 LS 430 with 129000 km in 2020. Never driven anything like it. Took it to shop thinking I may need to do some maintenance on it,brakes, etc. My very honest mechanic told me don't waste your money, car needs nothing done.Went ahead and did oil change anyways. Two years later, not a cent spent.Amazing car
I just love this guy. He is genuine, doesn't try to BS everyone and dazzle them with his hip hop or anything. He really knows his stuff. I drive a Lexus and can say that a lot of his information that I'm aware of is correct. Good for you, man. Keep up the good work. I'll keep watching.
When Alan Mulally was named CEO of Ford back in 2006, he said he drove a LS430, because it is the finest automobile in the world. He was also a former Boeing executive before his stint at Ford.
I like the meticulous way you work on the car and preserve how they were originally built, screws, clips, and all. I wish all mechanics are trained to be this way.
Love my LS430! I’m the second owner for past 12yrs. Regular maintenance and appreciation for it = zero problems. Heck, I want a 2022 Tundra and still can’t pull the trigger ONLY due to how well my LS has treated me ❤️ 🚗!
I am regretting the Tundra, had to wait 6 month for it. Pure junk, too much plastic. No way the turbos will last pass 200K. Should have kept my 2002 Tundra.
@@tdgdbs1 I'm sorry to hear that man. Could you share more details about what you don't like about it? I've read reviews and test drove a 2022 Limited and liked it, but I definitely wish they kept the v8 from the old Tundra.
@@bradj229 Turbo wastegate problems, cabin noise due to seal leak. The dealer had to remove the cab to replace the turbo, now the chassis rattles. I too test drove and loved it; but the teething problems are too much to deal with.
@@tdgdbs1 Woooow! I’m sorry to hear that. I’ve heard the waste gate has “only” affected like 1 out of every 2,000 made. The cabin noise and seal leaks would drive me nuts! Damn.
I got my dads 2003 ls 430 as a hand-me-down car during college and drove it for 3 years until it had 356k miles. The car was used thoroughly it’s whole life, regularly driven 20k or more miles a year while my dad had it. Never once was there a mechanical issue of any kind for the entire life of the car, nothing in the suspension was ever replaced and it still drove better than most new cars. The interior never had a creek, squeak or rattle and the only wear was on the steering wheel like this car. This car is simply a marvel of engineering and you should buy one if you can.
@@michaelboibodas We unfortunately had to get rid of the car when there were issues with the ABS, I didn't have the time to go through and diagnose what was happening with it. Had my family had the garage space we would have kept it but we couldn't.
I inherited my parents' 2004 ls430 2 yrs ago with 29,000 miles. They kept it in a garage and it's in perfect shape (except for the sunglass holder) I've put 30,000 on it since then and it is the perfect ride!!!
@@LSniumyes, that's one of the first things I had to replace. I also need to replace the front hood struts. Replacing the trunk ones was pretty easy - much cheaper to get them on ebay and self-install. Hoping that the front hood is just as easy!
I have owned the 1uz, 2uz, and 3uz engines. Best engines I have ever owned, period. Sold the 1uz with 300k, both my kids have the 2uz with over 250k each, and my 3uz I sold with 280k, my wife currently has a 3uz with 88k miles. Unbelievable machines.
my 99 Camry 4cy has >250K and was paid for with less than a month's wage, Goes from A to B in all the cities between Santa Cruz and San Francisco. No one has flipped me off, and or shamed me. I could go to Europe with the diiference each year. Luury is nice and so is haveing savings. Yes proper used is way better value than new,
My mom and uncle both had the LS430. Prior to the LS430, my mom had the LS400. Both were great cars but the LS430 especially was an awesome car that lasted over 200,000 miles easily. In 9 years my mom's LS430 did NOT have even one engine problem. She always got her oil changes at the Lexus dealership but that's about it. I have a 2021 IS350 AWD and have had two Lexus' before my current car. Absolutely love Lexus.
The UZ engines are amazing. I did a bunch of stuff to a beater Tundra I had a year ago or so. I was blown away how smooth and well built it was. You could put a full cup of water on it while running and it wouldn’t spill a drop. Smooth as can be.
This is why Toyota mechanics have nothing to do! Lexus cars are so well made. I prefer the ones made in Japan.....I don't care what anyone else say. You can't compare workmanship between a vehicle made in Japan vs vehicles assembled in America.
I do agree with you I own a 4runner and a 2017 Camry that is made in America and honestly the Camry is very well built as well. Very solid car. Both vehicles feel solid and I enjoy driving both of them
My Uncle had a 2001 LS430 and sold it to his son in law when it had 430k miles. He recently found a 2009 LS460L with only 33k miles, but I still rather have the 430 than 460.
@@randolphcirilo4800 they aren’t that bad, still see lots of 460s with 300k plus. They do have that control arm issue though that’s annoying. But the engine and transmission don’t really ever have problems
AMD, Beyond the QDR and luxury, what appeals to me most about this generation of LS is the classic sedan styling. This car is not a 4 door pretending to be a coupe with the modern sloping roof line that DESTROYS rear seat head room, it is a sedan that is proud to be a sedan . In your review of the current LS a few months ago you noted how little rear head room it has and you are 5'8". Bring back real sedans like the LS 430😁😁😁
That's odd. I was in the back seat of a 2015 LS460 the other day and My head cleared the ceiling, I am 6'1". Maybe I am more leg and less torso than AMD. Compare the newest LS to the Audi and Stinger with a fastback design THOSE cars have no headroom in the back.
@@danwake4431 The LS review I was referring to was from December 18, 2021 when AMD discussed the 2022 LS. The 2015 had a much more traditional, boxy design. I cannot think of any mainstream sedans today without seriously compromised headroom. This is particularly annoying because many have very generous rear leg room.
I’m 6’ and I can comfortably sit in my rear seat in my 430. 2006. Now the newer ones don’t have that much headroom. And most cars don’t sit high enough nor have enough headroom. The LS 430 is more like a 60s or 70s GM luxury car which had plenty of headroom and for legs too.
@@edwardluth7740 You hit the nail on the head. Sedans have become so low and impractical that common sense people are literally forced into crossovers. Sedan sales have been dropping fast in the last decade since they tried to turn them all into sports cars. In general, Toyota really blew it with undersized interiors on the latest TNGA cars. I hope they sort it out with the next generation.
I just bought a 2001 ls430. 105k miles. For $ 4k. I am getting new tie. Rod bushings done, valve cover gaskets, serpentine belt and water pump done on it. Crankshaft oil seal, thermostat, spark plug tube seals, PCV valve and grommet. And camshaft seal. And front brakes. $3300. And I'll probably end up getting some tires for it. I love this channel, excellent information and mechanic!
My wife had a 2002 LS430 when we lived in South Korea. That was the finest car we've ever owned. The cost to ship the Lexus stateside was more than we paid for it used, so we sold it. I would not hesitate to buy another LS430 in the future. I used to tell my wife to drink coffee before setting the cruise control. Floating down the highway- that car would put you to sleep!

That’s why I hate driving luxury cars. It is too dangerous to drive due to quietness and stableness. I once rented a Chrysler 300 and ended up rare ended someone due to fatigue.
wow 2004 LS430!!!!!! This car has a special place in my heart also, I was in University at the time in Windsor Ontario, I distinctively remember checking out the Lexus model line including the LS430 at the DETRIOT AUTOSHOW :D the one thing I noticed is how QUIET the interior was once you closed the doors, it really really filters out the noise from the outside like no other car!!!!! Thank you for the great review AMD, God bless your good work!!!!!
My LS is now 20 years old. As a low mileage car (~76k miles), it costed me $10k at a Lexus dealership back in 2016 . As the second owner (who is never mechanically inclined), the very few repairs that I have are the door lock actuators (happened twice = $650 X 2), the passenger side mirror (didn't fold = $830) and the AC compressor (blew hot air in Texas summer! = $2500). The suspension, with its original control arms, did not fail until recently at 142k miles (lower arms = $1100). Other than regular maintenance (every 5k miles), I have fixed the transmission leak ($900) just for the peace of mind. There is a leak of engine oil too but not much to worry at this moment. For the door lock actuators and side mirror, the service advisor almost instantly wrote a quote of replacing the entire assembly, possibly the technicians did not even diagnose at all =( The interior is incredible. There are a few wrinkles on the front seats but the rear seats are close to new condition. I also noticed the wood part of the steering wheel has numerous small cracks. As a 20-year-old vehicle, I give it an A+.
You must have gotten a lemon. I have one with 120,000 original miles I purchased new. I haven’t spent any money except normal maintenance every 5-6000 miles and now I’m getting a new rear muffler and going to replace a few engine parts not because of being broken but preventative maintenance. I love my car. It looks almost new and the interior could pass for a 20,000 mile car.
@@wholeNwon Transmission was original issue, I actually got a good deal on replacing it. During installation all the rust damage was revealed so I decided to sell it.
Just bought a 2002 ls430 with 114,000 miles on and I didn't know they were considered one of best cars out there..but I love that car so much now I would buy another in a heart beat its perfect mix of comfortably and power
@@zaunaura Probably way too much, it was a california 1 owner car that had the timing belt replaced a few thousand miles ago, new brakes and new tires. Paid $14,900 plus tax, title etc.
I own a 2003 Highlander, 121,000 miles and zero mechanical issues with it. I purchased it “certified” used in 2006. I keep up on its maintenance w a local repair shop in my area, Southern California. I simply love Toyota and Lexus.
Fantastic video. I've owned my 2005 LS430 for about 3 years, and actually just crossed the 100000 mile mark this past week! I will echo everything that was mentioned, in that these are fantastic cars. The quality of matierals, the smoothness, the simplicity of working on it, and the reliability are absolutely bar none. As more and more "modern luxury" sedans come out talking about performance numbers, technology, and other features that have nothing to do with luxury, I find myself cherishing my LS430 more and more. I have yet to be in a car that has the same level of comfort and material quality as my now-17 year old sedan. Prior to my LS430, I spent about 3 years daily driving a 1992 LS400 and was worried the newer option would be a downgrade from the OG Lexus. However, in my book the LS430 reigns supreme, just barely edging out the original LS400. Either way, both are fantastic vehicles and I can't encourage you enough to get one if you're considering it. V8 sedans are just not being made like this anymore (and barely being made anymore period), and you'll be elated at your ownership experience. As was mentioned, avoid the air suspension models (the Ultra Luxury Package), and look for one that was maintained well. Repairs are simple, infrequent, and usually very cheap which leaves you to just simply enjoy the drive.
I remember working on these when they were new at the Lexus dealer. Absolutely love them. Specially the 04 or 05 when they introduced the 6 speed trans. We used to get people left and right trading in their Mercedes and BMW for these cars.
@@comporangegtI have one and I am preparing to replace all four bags(they haven’t gone bad yet). Is it expensive? Yes, but that air ride is something a lot of us are not willing to give up

My uncle owned a Mercedes S-Klasse. When Lexus was introduced, he was persuaded by the salesman to try one. Once he tried, he could not go back. It is indeed the best car ever.
@@gt-c- why is that? The S- class & the 7 series is who Lexus set out to compete with, and considered their benchmarks ( which was unchallenged at the time) and exceeded them.
@@paulsz6194 Paul...this is exactly what I meant: Lexus managed to do much better than S&7 and beat both. S&7 are known in America as cars for snobs...for people that want only to impress. They are beautiful to look at...but reliability, quality, dependability and holding the value are almost non-existent! Smart people with money buy Lexus...even nowadays when the quality has come down on ALL BRANDS!
@@gt-c- not only that, the features that were only accessible if you bought a BMW, Mercedes or Audi ( like reverse parking sensors/cameras , Dual climate control, automatic headlights, Bluetooth) only recently as 15 yrs ago. What can The Germans offer that the Japanese , Koreans can’t offer ? The only exception I would make is to a Porsche 911, Boxster/ Cayman. They are fun and unique cars, but I’ll never afford one.
Don't forget that when the Lexus LS first launched, they set out to make the Mercedes' best made parts and adopt those for their minimum quality standards. Incredible.
You're one of my favorite channels. I wish you had a shop in Florida. I just sold my 2005 LS430 for more than I paid. And just scored a dark blue Ultra Luxury Edition 2004 LS430 with only 100,000 miles. In beautiful condition. Maintenance all up to date timing belt Etc the car is absolutely a dream!
Awesome car, my parents bought new in 2001 as their last new car but unfortunately, about 6 years old and only about 50k miles, someone ran a stop light and it was totaled. Thankfully they were not injured! My mom loved that car!
Thank you AMD and Mrs. Car Care. I learned a lot about my car in a short time. I had heard about the vapor barrier in the door sometimes being tossed out as another mechanic might not think it a big deal. THIS is exactly why I wanted AMD to diagnose the issue AND do the repair. When I returned to pick up the car, it was just as Mrs Car Care said...'like nothing happened'. I had no idea the door panel had even been removed for inspection until I saw the video! AMD's attention to detail and enthusiasm is wonderful to see. I can only think that their soon-to-be CCN garage will be flooded with admirers and their cars. Great review again.
I own a 06 LS430 and everything is still working with the exception of the cassette and CD player that I don't use, lucky me the the navigation screen never gave me any problems
Just in case you have not tried, and while this probably isn’t it, if you disconnect your car battery for 15 plus minutes, it can reset everything. It did for mine. Of course, most of the time I use my phone and an fm Bluetooth transmitter. By the CD player is awesome.
@@prism8289 thanks for the update. I don’t drive it that much these days , so I keep the battery disconnected to prevent it from dying. One thing I installed was a music Bluetooth adapter so I play all my music via my iPhone
I own a 2004 Lexus LS 430 with only 110,000 miles. It has the Ultra Luxury package, and it is truly a dream car to own. What an extraordinary piece of automobile engineering from Toyota! Thank you, Ahmed, for validating my opinion of this amazing automobile. Now, maybe my neighbors will stop looking at me weirdly whenever I hug it.
I had looked at UL 430's too when I bought this. The extra gadgetry on the UL is impressive for that time, but for me it was a liability considering the age of the car. I knew I was never going to enjoy those rear seats LOL.
I fell in love with LS sedans in 2016 and finally came across a well taken care of one so bought it in 2021. It’s Only a base model & payed over book for it but I love it.
My son has one of these, I drove it when he showed it to me the first time, never have I experienced such a sublime driving experience, seriously was blown away, you could cruise around in it all day and not want to get out, wonderful car ❤

As an owner of a 2005 Camry, I can attest that Toyota/ Lexus quality reached its apex at this time. My 05 is solid with the best leather seats and everything is soft touch and the knobs and stalks are solidly made. Almost 18 years old. Toronto, Canada
2003 camry v6 xle hete 330k miles and has been a dream car and on a budget. 1 alternator i knock sensor one radiator all after 250k miles. Still drives great. No one beats early to mid 2000s toyota and lexus cars
Headliner material is Alcantara. I did exactly what you mentioned - sold my “Ultra lux” LS430 with 350,000 miles, to trade up to ANOTHER LS430 with lower miles. Even the Ultra Lux was trouble free. Air suspension, soft close doors, electric window shades, everything works perfectly. The only worn parts were the speakers. My 2004 needed all five speakers rebuilt with new speaker foam - inexpensive kits are available to replace only the foam. Now all the speakers sound great. The insulation and noise damp padding is phenomenal. “New” rental cars I drive are a huge disappointment. I can’t wait to get back in my LS430.
Great revue I have a 2004 Lexus LS430 300,000 kms and everything works inc doors locks ,sound system etc its black on black. You are 100% right fantastic Car
It is my understanding (I read it) that Toyota engineers reverse-engineered a W140 Mercedes S-Class in initial Lex LS development. Both wonderful vehicles; obviously the Japanese version is more reliable and easier to maintain.
I enjoy driving this vehicle as a daily drive. In my opinion the exterior is confidently beautifully understated. I feel privileged to be able to enjoy such quality every day.
Enjoyed this video on a LS430. I own a 1999 LS400 and have owned it fifteen years. Only expensive repair was a new starter. 45000 when purchased and today has 84000. Plan on keeping and driving this car.

@@robertdaone yes you're right Robert, it was a good find, these cars just don't come around to often in this condition with low miles. Just got lucky! 04 05 06 have 1 more gear same hp though 🙂
Modern cars are bigger outside and smaller inside due to more strict crash test and new safety features. I miss how old cars have amazing a pillar visibility.
I miss my 98 GS400. 328k miles with no drama whatsoever. Best car I ever had. The LS and GS share the same drivetrain. UZ v8 best engine of all of all time.
Had a 1996 LS400 until it’s replaced by my current LS460, both had been troubled free so far. Had a popping noise on the LS460 last week whenever the vehicle was making a right turn. Turns out it’s a small rock wedge in the upper control arm.
I owned 2 of these - 2001 and 2005 and loved them. Did most of my own work. Had both the valve cover gasket and door lock issues. Door lock was easy - just an inexpensive motor. Valve cover gaskets a REAL pain to replace. Also had 3 wheel bearings go - while none failed on the 01. And the headlight levelling rheostat by rear wheel failed. Fortunately my big screen and Levinson amp were fine. Sold both cars with 200k+ mi. to lovers of LS 430s.
Wow I didn’t know the motor was certified for air planes! That’s INSANE!!! I agree with you, it is an EXCELLENT mill. I have an 06 with 192k and it runs like NEW! Best car I have ever owned.
Another great video, as always. I have a same 2004 LS 430 in pearl white color with the navigation and same ivory leather interiors. My navigation screen is still working fine. My interiors are still in almost brand new condition. All services are done at my local Lexus dealer. If I live by you, I would love to have you as the only mechanic to work on my car. You are not just a professional mechanic, but your superb work ethics is greatly admired. My LS 430 currently has 225,000 miles and it still runs super smoothly and super quietly. Thank you for sharing another awesome video. 🙏👍
Great Video. I recently pulled the trigger and purchased 2006 Ls430 pearl white (best color,IMHO) with 90k that came on the market and I can't pass it up. Buttery smooth engine and craftsmanship. All around. Now I know why it's the best Lexus ever made.
I have a 2004 Toyota Camry XLE with a similar color interior and Leather seats and I marvel at the quality of the materials. Everything is soft touch including the door panels and entire dashboard and the quality is such that it has a great tactile feel and is totally scratch resistant and bulletproof. The newer Toyota/Lexus cars have no comparison to these older vehicles in materials and build quality!👍
I agree. I have a 2005 Camry with leather and everything feels solid. The chassis on these Camrys were based on the Lexus ES at that time. The leather is plush, the plastics are textured and smooth feeling but the stalks and knobs are the best part and even almost 18 years old, they feel solid.
I have a 2005 Camry SE V6 for over 18.5 years now. Bought it new and has only been in dealer garage for the timing belt change. Smooth and powerful engine. Do my own oil changes, brake pads replace and air filter replace. Only parts to fail was one tail light bulb and the hood strut. These are amazing cars with quality construction and parts so obvious. Best cars in the world!
I am the original owner of a 2004 LS430. By far, the BEST car I've ever owned. With over 245,000 miles, I get between 21 and 22 MPG, combined city and freeway. This is partly due to its very low drag coefficient, which it shares with a mid-sixties Corvette. Has never taken a drop of oil between 10K changes.
I am a 2nd owner 06 Lexus GS430 with that 3UZ with 248,000 mile and has been a joy to own going on 4 years. Totally agree with everything you said about it and the LS. Wanted one but got a deal on my GS
Just bought a 2001 LX 430 3 days ago That has 63k original miles. Looks brand new. Out the door tag & tax 15k would not trade it for any new car. This car, smooth as butter.
Nice to see how a Professional Mechanic work on interior items. Taking off door panels, 90% of the shops that I have used just screw them up to the point of rattles, missing clips and the vapor barrier is missing. Plus, they leave dirty finger prints on doors and sun visors. The same guy working on my doors must had just changed the oil in another vehicles and did not change his gloves or clean his hands. Discussing!
I had some body work done on my rx400h and the shop left it a complete mess. It took me 12 hours to clean it, and the inside panels/roof liner did not line up correctly when they were 'done'.
Discussing means to talk about something.I think you meant disgusting.BTW I've got a 2005 LS430 and if I had to travel from Melbourne to Sydney - 550 miles - I'd crash it and kill everyone in the car.The thing is so damn quiet it almost puts me to sleep.Awesome, awesome car.
This is why I can’t stand bringing my car in to have it worked on I try to do all my own work if I can’t figure out how to do it I will try somehow to figure it out. All the mechanics nowadays seem to suck. This is why I love watching this channel he helps so much and he is a great mechanic.
It looks like you could have done this blind folded and still not made a single mistake working on that door panel. You are a true Master Macanic 🙌 . It is a pleasure watching you move like a smooth professional 👌.
I’ve had two of these in the past. A absolutely love them. As a matter of fact, to your point, I went from a 430 to a 460, then back to a 430. The 460 is over engineered and is more expensive to maintain.
The 460 is not “over engineered” it is TERRIBLY engineered. It has a VERY NOISY, UNREFINED V8 engine, …….tick, tick, tick, tick,…..and goes overboard TRYING to be “sporty”, something it SHOULD NOT do!! This is a LUXURY CAR, not a sports car [rollseyes]. As he stated, the LS 430 is the last best Lexus ever made! I adore my mint condition 2000 LS 400. It’s got a bit over 200K miles now (I bought it 18 years ago from the original owner), and it’s going to my grave with me! You would have to pry it out of my cold dead fingers! Nothing today made by Lexus, even compares! I can drive a 1000 miles in a day and after that you still feel refreshed!! its like floating on your living room couch!!
@@747-pilot agree. LS430 actually is extremely OVER-engineered but nothing really ever breaks. And I hear ya, I make 750 mile trips with just one quick 5 minute pit stop, arrive at my destination feeling ready for a run or whatever. No fatigue.
@@747-pilot I didn’t know direct injection ticking was considered unrefined lol better go tell all the other auto manufacturers like Ford, Mazda, Mercedes, BMW, and VW/Audi about that. And to the second point, if they do not become more sporty as time goes on they will never sell when people can buy a European luxury car that is comfortable and sporty. Look how much avg HP has changed over the years. Drive a true luxury car like a Maybach, Rolls, or Bentley and tell me they are not “sporty”. I guess if you’re old you don’t really care but personally all of the features in the LS460 make it way more appealing to me than an LS400. Also for how terribly engineered these cars are it’s amazing how many super high mile LS460’s there are for sale out there. The 2011 I picked up has had oil changes and differential oil changes in it’s 11 years and 105k miles of life and it runs like a top. Super smooth and comfortable while also being relatively modern compared to newer cars.
I have a 2002 LS430, has been a great car, I bought with 82k miles...Traveled too Dallas Tx, which is 1000 mile round trip each time. I did the trip 7 times, no probs....Other trips also, car cruises an runs flawless...
The ls430 is a lovely car, shame the ones in the uk have issues with air suspension, gearbox failure, cd player stops working, speakers blow, rear air con stops working, the vsv fault, but when the car is working, its lovely. That's why we always say, the ls400 was a better built car
My dad had 3 Ls430's while I was growing up and I loved them so much that my first car at 16(2018) was an 03 ML Ls430. Flawless car, zero issues at 130k miles when I sold it for the "Face-lifted" Flint Mica / Ecru 04 UL with 113k miles(2020). You couldn't dream of a better car than that 04 UL. Radar cruise, soft closing doors, and the air ride suspension was a dream. Sadly 14 months after owning my UL, someone smashed into me and totaled it. Right after, I bought an 08 Ls460 with 30k miles(2021), but I am selling it now because I thought it could fill the Ls430's shoes, but it can't. I am still not convinced the Ls430 has dash or engine lights because the combined 5 Ls430's my dad and I have owned (spanning 16years), not one light ever appeared. Cannot, however say the same for my 08 Ls460 with 51k miles(2022). Lexus outdid themselves with the over-engineered Ls430, and IMO, it has earned it's title as 'The Best Lexus Ever Built."
You treat other peoples cars like you would your own. You will go far in career . You seem to have passion for doing quality work. Your videos are really good. You show us how we can do some maintenance on our vehicles. There are some things I will not try to do. If I had a hybrid I would never work on it. Keep up your great work, thank you 🙏
I purchased a one owner 2004 ES330 last Christmas with 78k miles on it for $8400. It feels like driving a brand new car. No issues at all. I am a Toyota & Lexus driver for life now.
I bought a 97 LS 400 and it was like nobody had ever sat in the rear passenger seat. When I had people sit back there on a 20 minute drive they would fall asleep
Never drove a 430 and the only reference I have is my 2014 LS460L AWD. Might be some differences but overall they're both outstanding machines. Videos like this pushed me over the edge 6 years ago. My beast had 10,070 miles on it when I bought it used in 2018. Sadly, she is parked while I work overseas and has 25,000+- miles now. Vacations are time to enjoy this fine automobile and other toys.
I have never been more blown away by a car. After watching your videos I found one of these for one of my friends who wanted a nice but relativley cheap and reliable car. I test drove it for him and I cannot believe how well it was made. It had over 270k miles and the engine ran better than cars I've seen with 40-50k miles. The suspension felt tight and the engine pulled soo smooth. The power delivery and nvh is definitley one of the best I have ever experienced in terms of smoothness. I have driven almost all of the high end modern German cars from 2010 and onward. The engineering in the ls430 is simply incredible. I immediately became an LS430 fan and now am looking for one myself. I hope to get an 04+ with the sport suspension.
And this is exactly the one I HAVE only the 2001 model with 160K miles original owner. ****** Never had ANY PROBLEM ! ****** Only some smell from catalytic converter...rotten eggs when I hit the gas too hard. Picking up a 2002 LS 430 Monday. Needs TLC as the previous owner had it sitting with a leak somewhere in the roof, so there’s water in it and that has to be traced. After the TLC I plan to use it as a daily to my FJ Cruiser. This video came in perfect timing for me!
I have a 2006 LS430 which is black on black. Black interior and exterior. The wood accents have a darkened, burnt edge, which really looks beautiful with the black interior. I will never get rid of the car. On the highway, it's so luxurious.
Yes, I’ll never sell mine pictured here. Had a complete stranger ask me yesterday if I wanted to sell it. I feel like it took me 30 years to find the best car. Why part with it?
I got lucky and found a 2006 LS430 with the optional air suspension, massage seats, and so many other bells and whistles. Car just has 56k miles! I have owned this generation LS'S for 4 years. One of the biggest downsides of owning this car is every every other car you get into you start comparing the quality, and wheather it's just not there. Good video, when you doing the LC 500?
Last year was a very special year for me I bought one 2004 Lexus LS430 custom luxury Pkg black on black with only 125,000km for $9,500 and 2002 Lexus SC430 with 100k miles silver ecru interior for $16,500. The best of the best !
I have a 2004 LS. I bought it with 86k about 7 years ago and currently around 143k. It runs like new, exceeds the estimated MPG and doesn't leak of burn anything. The only repair I've done was a new fuel pump a couple of years ago. Other that that, it's been maintenance only. I get compliments on it often. I am starting to think of getting rid of it in a year or so, but am sure I'll regret doing that. lol.
Get ready for that trunk to randomly fall on you, its like a common problem on the LS430s, the struts randomly fail and those trunk lids weigh like 200 pounds, they fall down at lightspeed territory and injure or even kill people.
I've replaced the front hood and trunk struts on my 2004. Minor stuff. There was a recall on the 2004 LS430 for the fuel pump. Mine ended up failing recently. It was built at the same time as the recall. Incredible car. The story was they fired the head of Mercedes Engineering because they didn' have a car that would compete with the 400 series Lexus for under $100K. Absolutely incredible car.
@@CasitaAdventurer Now that you said that, I remembered that I also replaced my hood and trunk struts! Two weeks ago I replaced my front bank o2 sensor. It was the original one, haha. That's my long list of repairs over my course of ownership. Those poor Mercedes owners....

I just wish he’d interact with his audience more , but I realize he has a business to run and this is his side hustle .
Toyota should hire him to certify mechanics before they're allowed to work on them vehicles
I would love to have the car guy open up in Toronto. Would be great to have you work on my vehicles.
Toyota techs are meticulously trained. These guys are awesome.

Glad you brought up the aircraft rated spec of the engine. Not many people know that.
356k. Incredible!! What happened to the car? Do you guys still own it?
do u still drive it?

Get ready for that trunk with the struts to start failing, that trunk goes up and crushes anyone in sight with 200 pounds of force.

I agree a 100% Japanese made toyota products way better.
My Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is 2019 made in Japan bought in the U.K.
100% agree only made in Japan Toyota/Lexus. I love my GX460
I do agree with you I own a 4runner and a 2017 Camry that is made in America and honestly the Camry is very well built as well. Very solid car. Both vehicles feel solid and I enjoy driving both of them
I know the US mades Toyotas aren't holding up as well specially the Alabama models
My Uncle had a 2001 LS430 and sold it to his son in law when it had 430k miles. He recently found a 2009 LS460L with only 33k miles, but I still rather have the 430 than 460.
LS 430 is far more reliable
The 460 is better looking, subjectively speaking, it has a lot more tech and more modern, but shit compared to the 430, quality wise..
@@randolphcirilo4800 I'll still take LS460 because I do love more HP on a bigger 🚘

Am assuming you own an LS430, yes? Would be great if there were LS430 meets to compare notes on these cars.
I just bought one last week! Its a 2001 with 70k miles and 1 owner Ultra Luxury package. I got it for 11k and I plan to keep it for a loooong time
My wife had a 2002 LS430 when we lived in South Korea. That was the finest car we've ever owned. The cost to ship the Lexus stateside was more than we paid for it used, so we sold it. I would not hesitate to buy another LS430 in the future. I used to tell my wife to drink coffee before setting the cruise control. Floating down the highway- that car would put you to sleep!

wow 2004 LS430!!!!!!
This is my dream tuna boat. I’ve worked on them in an import shop. Hands down a Lexus over a BMW and MB.
For the door lock actuators and side mirror, the service advisor almost instantly wrote a quote of replacing the entire assembly, possibly the technicians did not even diagnose at all =(
The interior is incredible.

Wow nice man. I had a 1993 LS400 and bought a 2004 LS430 Sport Suspension model. It has 190k miles n drives unlike any other car I’ve had.

I have so much love for Lexus, especially the LS line this 430 is just an absolutely gem of a car I would buy one
Some say that 1990-2005 was the Golden Age of Toyota & Lexus.
I already got spoiled with the size of your new garage.
Great Video. I recently pulled the trigger and purchased 2006 Ls430 pearl white (best color,IMHO) with 90k that came on the market and I can't pass it up. Buttery smooth engine and craftsmanship. All around. Now I know why it's the best Lexus ever made.
I bought a '05 modern luxury a few weeks ago and am very satisfied with it
I have a 2004 Toyota Camry XLE with a similar color interior and Leather seats and I marvel at the quality of the materials.
Everything is soft touch including the door panels and entire dashboard and the quality is such that it has a great tactile feel and is totally scratch resistant and bulletproof.
The newer Toyota/Lexus cars have no comparison to these older vehicles in materials and build quality!👍
Have a 2003 Camry XLE. Same thoughts.
WOW 245,000 miles???? What problems did you have. I'm looking at a 2004 with 209,000 miles for $9000
@@alljerseysmatter. Now I have over 260,000 miles. No major mechanical issues EVER. Automatic door locks stopped working after 200K miles.
@@acrylike346 260,000 with no problems but just door locks is a amazing. Do you think $9000 is worth it for 04 with 209,000
Blue book is lower but I wouldn't be surprised if you got another 100K miles.
@@acrylike346 Since you said that I’m going to pull the trigger. $9-11K is basically the new price these 04-06 LS430. Thank you for responding
I am a 2nd owner 06 Lexus GS430 with that 3UZ with 248,000 mile and has been a joy to own going on 4 years. Totally agree with everything you said about it and the LS. Wanted one but got a deal on my GS
Agh I’m never gonna be able to find let alone afford one of these with all these videos showing how great they are😂
Love you videos man
Bought a 2004 for my sister years ago and what a wonderful machine😎
Lexus is my brand for life!!!
Just bought a 2001 LX 430 3 days ago
That has 63k original miles. Looks brand new. Out the door tag & tax
15k would not trade it for any new car.
@@saramaki1088 should've sent them the invoice for damages
This is why I can’t stand bringing my car in to have it worked on I try to do all my own work if I can’t figure out how to do it I will try somehow to figure it out. All the mechanics nowadays seem to suck. This is why I love watching this channel he helps so much and he is a great mechanic.
Totally open to DISCUSSING whatever you’d prefer…
Love My 05 LS430 mine has 41k miles.
Great to know you always take so much pride and detail in your work AMD. You are a rare mechanic today👍😊
Yea, amazing value in these well-crafted older cars.
Only some smell from catalytic converter...rotten eggs when I hit the gas too hard.
Perfect seats still smooth leather, no cracks, perfect interior, garage kept...and...ONLY ONE MECHANIC since the day I bought it !
There isn't anything better in any other Lexus models new or old !
...You keep saying: this is ONE of the best Lexus models out there...correction:
so...here it is: IT IS NOT "one" of the best ------ IT IS THE BEST ONE - period !
My first car i got it for Christmas in HS. Now i have a 21 Camry but i still miss my LS
So good to find a person who's passionate about theses models Lexus , i to myself have learned so much from this man! even though i don't even own a lexus lol , i did own a Toyota Soarer back in 2003 and it was a japanese import ( used ) but well looked after , and i just loved that car and wish i had never sold it!!! it had the straight 6 with twin turbos! i was never afraid to over take other car or trucks in that car even on our narrow New Zealand roads , even over taking up hill! foot down it was like a rocket! and i will buy one of these cars next! im now in Australia living and i see an 2003 Lexus LS 430 95km on it ( around 59000 miles ) $28,000 AU dollars , will wait for a cheaper one that's been looked after , cheers my American friend and i just love your content and love for these cars.
Love my LS430. Glad to see it getting praise from the Toyota pro. Thanks AMD.
Hopefully getting the LC500 in the next few weeks
@@LSnium That's hilarious in how hyperbolic it is.
You have to really appreciate watching a man who truly enjoys his work. God bless.
Love my ls430 05 has power smooth quiet still has a modern look to it
