    Man...This is amazing!!! Sometimes I wish I hadn't stopped playing the trumpet when I was younger. Maybe I could have been playing jazz like this now. I haven't forgotten how to play or anything, but I'm just really out of practice. Anybody have any suggestions on how to start up again?

    • @insaneintherainmusic
      @insaneintherainmusic  8 лет назад +3

      How to start up again? The answer is easy, just start! First learn your fingerings and tone production skills again, maybe use a method book for that, then find some player or solos you like and learn to play those! You'll improve very quickly :)

    hrmmmmm... If I were to be honest... This isn't totally blowing me away. Now I do like many things about this cover but a few things break it for me. Firstly I love that intro with the tasteful rhythm section and water effects. I also think your Cuban-ish polyrhythm vamp section is very cool and infections, and that sax soli its transition and sax solo later are amazing at 3:00, I really love it when you change the song to swing and break out into a sax soli. However there some things that kinda break this for me. One is I like every line in the polyrhythm vamp... except for sax line. It gets annoying that it dosen't change and I feel it doesn' t blend well with the rest of the instruments. I like it on the guitar but the sax sounds strange. If fact a lot of this song doesn't change and feels kinda bland in places. I don't hear as many insaneintherain spices I'm used to hearing, some the of the song is too predictalbe like the vamp that you play 3 times identically. There is, however, one major exception to being too predictable. Now this almost ruins the whole thing for me and probably only applies to me because I've listened to this song so much its engrained into my mind how it should go. At 1:38 after the vamp you go to the "B" section, why? I mean, I'm all for creative modifications to music, but it just sounds so wrong going to the "B" section after the feel change. I guess it makes sense since you play "A" twice in the intro, but I feel like that's the intro and you should play "A" again in the new feel before playing "B". I don't want to not like this cover, but something about it doesn't sell it for me. I'm sure you put a lot of hard work into this and made many people happy so good job regardless man and I look forward to next week all the same.

    • @insaneintherainmusic
      @insaneintherainmusic  8 лет назад +4

      Thanks for your comment, man! To be absolutely truthful this definitely isn't one of my best arrangements, I had a really hard time coming up with an idea this week. My favorite parts are the intro and the sax soli as you said, and I'm also not a fan of how that "chorus" repeats three times. When originally writing this arrangement, I think I viewed it more as a polyrhythmic exercise than a fullfledged arrangement, but I had to make something for this week, so this turned into it!
      To answer your question about the B section, I didn't want the song to drag on for way too long, so I thought I'd rather put the B section in there, rather than repeat the A section again. I never even considered putting the B section where the sax soli is! In retrospect, that might have been a better choice.
      Again, thanks for the criticsm, I really appreciate this. I unfortunately can't guarantee that every cover will be better than the last one, but I give it a good shot each time! "Better" is a very subjective term, so it's difficult to please everybody.

    • @jzsax7375
      @jzsax7375 8 лет назад +1

      No worries about "better than last" thing. Its unrealistic to expect perfection in a song and even more so to expect perfection in every song. This is still a great arrangement just not as polished I'd say as your others have been. Keep up the hard work man. :)

    Couldn't agree more. It's one of many reasons why Wind Waker is one of my favourite games for being able to capture the feeling of adventure, and the music does it so splendidly. Really well done, Carlos! Even small little things like the turn at 3:59 when trying to look at the sheets got me chuckling

    • @insaneintherainmusic

    Great job on the cover! (as usual) I really REALLY enjoy all the music you put out in general; being a basic commenter, I would like to make a suggestion...
    I'm not sure if you have played it, but I think that Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon has some of the best and most underrated music in the Pokemon games. Some of the themes can be super epic (Dark Matter Phase 2, Tree of Life: Roots, Reverse Mountain), some can be a bit darker (Prehistoric Ruins, Ancient Barrow), some can be a bit cooler or relaxing (Road to Primeval Forest), or some can just be really fun and catchy (Gentle Slope Cave). I really hope that you would take them into consideration to cover because I think they (and other tracks from the game) are super awesome and have pretty good General Effect in my opinion!
    Once again, love the music you put out and think it's amazing that you can do all that!
    P.S. If you listen to some of the tracks I listed, I really suggest listening all the way through because some of the really good parts are a bit further in for the dungeon themes.

    Lovely! I love the water overlay and the particle effects at the beginning--it makes it that much more pretty! Windwaker was easily my favorite Zelda game, and The Great Sea was an excellent track for sailing. It made everything feel so adventurous, and definitely made filling up my map worthwhile! I love what you've done with it, too--it feels just as magical and even more exciting with your take on it, like you're sailing with a great friend!

      Dragon Roost is one of those songs that I've always thought was just ""too good to cover".. I won't cover it unless I get an incredible idea for an arrangement, it's _that_ good.

    Finally got the chance to listen to this now that Zeldathon's over and MAN you rocked this! Such a lovely and familiar tune in such a upbeat, jazzy style.

    Awesome. I've always been the one to comment on the editing, and I don't think I have to anymore. I think you've really come into your own with the style, it very well compliments the playing. I especially liked the rising saturation as you exited the A section ballad-thing.
    I also think that as an arrangement this was very well done. A lot of varying styles, and an innovative take on the theme. So happy to see so many different styles, and your, as always, awesome sax soli. Keep up the good work.

    Dunno how well that'd work with jazz.

      it would have been better if you had finished the playlist and this was the end credits theme.. now THAT would have been perfection right there.

    There is this indie game that came out about a month ago called Tadpole Treble, and the music in it is really nice. The game is not too popular so it probably would not make a great vid, but there is a song in there called Parana Jungle, and i feel like you could put a nice mix on that song.
