  • Tracy Bedan shares about the transformation that Spravato, a new treatment for depression available at Clark Memorial Health, has brought to her life.
“When I was 18, I was diagnosed with bipolar one and mainly just treated with different kinds of medication over the years. But the last two years have been really tough for me. Last June, I was in a really dark place. I hated myself, I didn't want to get out of bed, I didn't want to leave the house. I just felt really insecure and horrible, horrible anxiety and depression. I just didn’t care if I lived or not.
“I started group therapy here [at Clark Memorial], and they talked about [Spravato] a lot, but I was hesitant about more medication. But I had seen the results from one of the girls in our group, so we actually kind of teamed up, and we do Spravato together.
“It’s made a huge difference. I’m back to work, I've been able to interact with friends, and I went to a basketball game up at IU. It’s been a miracle.
“You know, if it changed my life, I think it can change anyone's life. I never thought that I would find anything because I tried so much over the years. It’s been a wonderful change in my life, and I know a lot of other people see that too.
“Not too long after I went back to work, a girl was telling me that she was so happy to see a smile on my face, that it was contagious. It was nice to hear that from somebody that knew that I was struggling for a while. And other people say, ‘It’s good to have the old Tracy back.’”
