- Hi! I have treatment resistant depression. In the past, I have had success with TMS, but this time around I tried Esketamine instead. It went great!
My only side effect was that after treatment and the following day, I'd be especially tired, but still a functioning person nonetheless.

I feel a need to mention- I'm NOT MAKING MONEY ON ANY OF THESE VIDEOS and no one asked me to make them. I know the videos show ads, but I don't have control over that. The reason I made these videos is because it's the kind of information I would have found helpful while I was looking for treatment. I'm just trying to be helpful.
Sorry I'm not a real youtuber. I simply don't have time to produce a high quality video. I'm 40 years old. Forgive me.
There's a book called "High performance habits" that I use to try to change my patterns of thinking. It goes very well with esketamine.
I start my treatment next week and even though I've Been Told it's not that scary I am still terrified. I Struggle with severe depression and suicide idiot period I did TMS treatments back in 2019 And it worked for a good while. With this past year, it's been extremely difficult to function. thank you for being so vulnerable and sharing your experience .
Did they talk to you about music? I had to develop a playlist of lyric-less music that made me feel good. I had songs from Brian Wilson At My Piano, The Hipster Orchestra, and Vitamin String Quartet. I always took a pillow and blanket with me for comfort. Think of the sessions as a time to relax and do nothing. Come back and tell me how it's going! Good luck!
Thank you so much! I think it’s not a coincident I just saw your video popping up to me in one of these not good days !! I am now 8th weeks since I started on Spravato and it’s is one of those bad days .. after watching your video instantly felt that I have to be continuous that there is bad days .. Since I started my spravato which was a godsend after struggling for a long time with resistant depression “ or whatever the name,, but really I’m now feeling much better and still three months to go as the treatment plan 🤞 .. I wish you are doing well 🙏.. will be nice to share your experience so far :) .. stay blessed 🙏
Hang in there! I know it can feel so dismal and hard to believe that better days are coming, just hang on!
Kristin, I just came upon your channel while "researching" TMS. I'm a dad to a 31 y/o daughter that's been in the throes of TRD. Yesterday she finished an accelerated course of a week of TMS & Ketamine. She had been doing Ketamine infusions alone for several months but found the effects to be waning quickly so her psychiatrist suggested TMS+K as her next step.
I so very much appreciate your videos and that you are volunteering your time and documenting your experiences.
In my journey of learning about TMS I came upon your channel, have watched several and felt compelled to pause on this video and post a comment directly to you.
I hope and pray for your well being. Through your own trials you help bring light into this world, to those of us fortunate enough to "find" you. For that I am grateful to you and for you. Please continue and know you are helping others, even someone like me that loves someone else dealing with depression and anxiety. Thank you very very much! God bless you Kristin.
Andrew
Thank you for taking the time to share with me! I pray your daughter will have the best possible outcome. Don't give up. New treatments keep being developed! Your daughter is lucky to have a Dad who will research for her. :) That's so helpful.
Thanks for the tip! @@akosreke8963
Im so happy for you! I've been a low functioning depressive for 15 years(since I was 15). No meds have worked. Im definitely going to try get my hands on Ketamines if TMS doesn't work for me.
I'm glad you feel positive about continuing to try things! There were plenty of treatments that failed me before I reached TMS and Spravato. Good luck!
I’m glad you’re feeling better 🙏😇
I just spoke to my psychiatrist about treatment again. Watching this really gives me hope. You can see your progress just by your voice tone. Thanks for sharing.
I hope you recover soon. Good luck!
Thank you so much for making this video. I have a loved one considering this option and I have learned a lot about this therapy and am hopeful for her in trying this!
Good luck to your loved one!
What a great transformation! You smiled in your last segment and you presented as much lighter and unhindered. Bravo. I too am having a similar experience with ketamine sublingual lozenges.
I’m happy for you! Are they ketamine lozenges? I’ve never heard of this.
I’m about to start Spravato next month or the month after. I can’t wait to finally feel happy again after 10 years of dysthymia.
I'm happy you get to try it. Good luck!
Thank you for sharing your experience! I’m going in tomorrow for my first treatment, hoping for the best :)
Good luck! Don't give up!
Thank you for your videos! They are the most honest, from-the-heart videos I’ve seen on the topics you cover. Giving of yourself by making these helps people.
In part because of this video, I just had my first ketamine session a few days ago, using an online provider. I felt tremendous relief after just one session, it was a doozy of a session, really knock me out. But not scary.
Ketamine and esketamine are amazing.
Thank you for your kind words! Im trying to make the kind of content I wanted to find when I was looking for help. I’m so happy you’re finding relief. Do you mind my asking what website you went through? I’m interested in doing it at home in the future if I can.
@@HookerTheWriter Sure. I used BetterU. I haven’t used others so I can’t compare, but I do feel like they provide some support and are a great value. I was impressed that the person doing my intake was being very careful about checking for potential contraindications for my starting treatment, and also discussing what to expect.
I feel so lucky to have found this medication, the transformation is profound. Thanks again for your contribution to my finding it.

(I posted this response before, but I just looked and I don’t see it in RUclips, so I’m posting this again. Hopefully you’re not seeing it twice.)

@@HookerTheWriter Better U. It's been great so far, although a little pricey. I might try Joyous next.
The past videos i saw your positive experiences with TMS as i was thinking of giving it another try, but i see you’ve moved on to this treatment. Im very happy this new treatment has helped you find some peace and would be willing to try it myself, i just wonder as a fellow sufferer of major depression and some paranoid thinking, is there anything to fear with this treatment making anxiety worse? Take care and i hope you’re still doing well.
This treatment is not for anxiety and whether it could make anxiety worse, I'm not sure. It doesn't hurt to ask a doctor. In my state, one can get psilocybin treatment now which I'm not going to do since insurance doesn't cover it (yet) but perhaps you could look into that as well! Don't give up!
@@HookerTheWriterThanks. Ive just been so cautious over the years with trying medications and most of them unfortunately just making me feel worse. Its made me fearful to try anything to be quite honest but these new treatments look promising. Hope things continue to go well for you. Take care ✌️
Thank you 🙏
Thank you for your personal story with Spravato. I am currently ending my 4th week (treatment #8) and still feel a bit lost on the timeline, experience, and expectations. While with any type of mental health treatment mileage may vary, but what you had to say about your experience is lining up exactly with how I feel. I have yet to see major improvements myself, but my wife has noticed changes in my interactions with my 9 year old son. She said I am not so up tight, more jovial and playful. Odd that she can see what I cannot. Videos like yours help to keep up the positive motivation to continue treatment as I am not done yet, there is certainly more to be had! I am glad you mentioned the euphoria experience and that it is not an indication if the treatment is working or not. I was sky-high on treatment 1 and 2, but now it is more like a relaxation than a "trip" and I was worried that it could be losing it's effectiveness. Thanks again for your story. Best of luck!
4:08 wow such a difference. Im so glad you are better, did you have anhedonia?
Yes. Whenever I get depressed I lose interest in everything
Hi, thanks for the info! Very helpful! I wonder if you are at US. If so, is it covered by the health system or you are paying for it? How much is it? Thanks in advance
Yes, I'm in the US and my insurance covered it. I probably paid a $10 co-pay per session. I'm not sure how much it would cost without insurance.
I appreciate your effort. did you try practicing exercises like doing intense fitness? (just asking not judging) I have a family member recovered after TMS with heavy program of exercises and vitamin D, probiotics, lions mane, and omega 3
I did not. Fitness would be great and I did aquarobics last fall and felt amazing, but then my situation changed and I couldn't do it anymore. I love to hear that it worked for your family member!
Your experience has been much different than mine. When it begins working, it HURTS intensely, I feel folded back into myself and cannot really see very well, and I feel intensely tired afterwards. But I have nothing else to try.
I'm so sorry it was unpleasant for you! Even though the sessions were unpleasant, did it help you overall?
Thank you so much for sharing your experiences! How did you manage the esketamine treatments with working? Did you take a leave of absence or leave a job?
No, I'm a stay at home mom, so I did treatment while my son was at school.
That makes sense@@HookerTheWriter , thanks again!
I have anxiety and depression. I think its actually anxious depression but do you think the Spravoto would help with the anxiety part too. I ve been having a hell of a time tryinf to find a place that takes my insurance.
I’m going on my 4th treatment and maybe I’m looking for a big change I guess? When was it that you personally noticed a difference in your self? 2 months or so?
About 6 weeks, I’d say. That’s when I noticed a difference and continued to get better from there even more.
Did you have anhedonia?
I've completed 28 of my 36 treatments but it doesn't seem to be working. I'm trying to remain optimistic but it's difficult.
Investing in a treatment can be so hard- like wondering if you should reserve hope or not. There's definitely still time for it to work though! If it doesn't, I hope you'll seek out something else despite the disappointment. Keep trying!
Hi, why did you go to spravato instead of sticking with TMS like you usually do?
Spravato has a less intense demand on your time and is more pleasant. It was four weeks twice a week followed by four weeks once a week. With TMS I did 8 weeks five times a week. The actual spravato sessions were longer (2 hours) but I preferred going fewer times for longer sessions. I took a pillow and blanket and just relaxed the whole time. I still think TMS is great, but I'm glad I tried Spravato and I prefer Spravato now.
@@HookerTheWriter ok yeah that totally makes sense! thanks for explaining
Does ketamine work for anxiety as well?
I don’t think they typically use it for anxiety, but I’m not totally sure.
Does it help with pain as well?
I don’t know. I do know it’s numbing while it’s in effect, but that only lasts about an hour.
If health insurance approved tms 36 session, Did copay applies for each session ?
Yes, I probably paid $10 per session, so it definitely adds up.
@@HookerTheWriter
watched one video of your testimony about
how long remission lasting, and relapse started back?
i read some medical articles says maintenance sessions sometimes called preventative to relapse.
there is protocol of 5 sessions in two days, other still confirm a preventative session preferable before potential relapse.
but looks health insurance policies prefer patient relapse first and then they ask for trying again conventional medicine if it resists again then they authorize again.
Hello, are you still feeling less depressed?
Yes, going strong!
You are going to a clinic for sprevato ? ❤
Yes, I wasn’t aware of a different way to get it
The TMS is no longer working?
The TMS wore off after a while- the effects of TMS may be permanent for some, but I relapsed a couple of years after my last round of TMS. TMS probably would have worked again. I still think it's a great treatment. I just decided to try Esketamine this time around because it puts less demand on my time. If I relapse again, I'll probably choose Esketamine.
you are so pretti!
What is your maintenance schedule?
I don’t have one. I think I could if I wanted, but I’m still feeling good. The moment I start to feel bad, I’ll get back to the clinic.
@@HookerTheWriter hope you wont need one
I start my treatment tomorrow. Thank you for this video!
How did it go?
@@jrman413 it went well. I felt great at the treatment. The only thing is it’s not something that lasts long. I wish you could have spravato for at home to take when needed.
my only reticence is the "profound experience" I hate hate hate being high
I can imagine how some people might not like that. I've never used any "street drugs" or psychedelics, so I'm not sure how it compares.
Hi, with all do respect I see you are looking for answers *outside* of yourself, but really the difference is you are the magic. You are the one that heals yourself, once you do the inner work you will see ;). I hope you are doing well/better now.
I believe you! I've had to undergo changes in perspective and processing through difficult feelings along the way. I've found that the combination of inner healing and medical intervention works best for me. Some people can do it without medicine though and I'm happy for them!
With all "due" respect I found your comment very dogmatic indeed. 1st off depression and anxiety effect different people in different ways and at different intensity. 2nd off a treatment that works for someone may not work for another. You never bothered to mention what type of depression/anxiety you have if any. You've most likely read "The power of now" and think that you are privy to all the answers in life, where in all likelihood, you're not.
