      There's only one place in my town still offering it, but I have a feeling they won't be for too much longer. Why? Bc the majority of patients quit within 1-2 months due to the difficulties associated with having to have transport twice a week, being sent back home if blood pressure is even slightly high (wasted transport when that happens), can't drive the day of treatment (so twice a week), 2 hours twice a week in the office, nausea from the Spravato or it being otherwise ineffective - a LOT of barriers so that in the end the clinic isn't really making enough profit to continue offering Spravato.

      @Thomas Farrell Have you tried an MAOI? I have tried about 15 different medications. The most recent one being Nortriptyline about 2 weeks ago. Working my way up to 100mg. I take 3 other meds at the moment. I am looking into getting TMS Therapy next year. But Ketamine is another option I want to take a close look at. Just wondered if you'd tried an MAO Inhibitor and did it help you? Thanks

      @jpmcfluffies9451 4 года назад +1

      @Thomas Farrell Thank you for your response. It was interesting and informative. Had no idea about the dopamine and Parkinsons relation. I haven't done much research on MAOI's as I am starting to lose hope with any medications at this rate. I really haven't had much success lately with medications, and over the last 11 years this has been the worst and longest depressive episode lasting a whole year. I can no longer work, and my family is financially supporting me. I have been on many medications through the years, with some really helping me for an extended period of time. But this time around I just cannot find relief. I am hoping for a miracle with the tricyclic, but I just started it about 3 weeks ago (taking 3 other meds with it). Nothing except dizziness, heart palpitations and lack of sleep (which is my main issue-sleep). I'm going to try for the TMS and/or Ketamine I think first. But at this point I would really try anything. ECT is also on the table. My concern with Ketamine is that it requires maintenance and the nasal spray which needs to be monitored by a Doctor. I live in Bermuda and no one here has any experience with it. I would have the Ketamine infusions in Boston, but you cannot get the Esketamine (Spravato) here, so I'm not sure if its worth getting the infusions if I can't use the maintenance spray :(

    • @landofthelostful
      @landofthelostful Год назад

      The doctor passed away a couple of years ago, but I would say they shouldn't be taken together. Anafranil is a tricyclic antidepressant (TCA) and a serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI). Both can cause HTN and all the side effects that go along with sympathetic system increases (sweating, hot, flushing, dizziness, orthostatic hypotension, syncope) and hyponatremia, which would not go with spravado. At the very least, spravato causes elevated blood pressure even if it is only during the treatment. Remember, the long-term effects have not been evaluated.

    The cost is outrageous .they talk about the cost and the insane profit margins made bye these companies .This needs to be addressed on a global scale ,this level of profiteering at the expense of human lives needs to be classified like a war crime/Its a crime against humanity.Not simply because it so expensive, We are not talking about a luxury item ,I am wealthy I chose to drive a Lamborghini and Your poor and chose to drive a Ford you have stake and I have mince. People are dying simply because the CEO OR MANAGING DIRECTORS E.C.T. Are choosing to make an insanely large profits on particular medications. Everyone is entitled to make profit that’s not unreasonable,but this is robbery-This is a crime against humanity. People die as a direct result of this choice. If I chose to speed in a car and as a result I kill someone-sure I didn’t intend to kill a person but they died.I would be responsible for the death and charged accordingly. I have had depression since childhood I’m dyslexic and am ADHD .I don’t drink smoke or use recreational drugs. Physically im in good health yet As I’m getting older 50+ the soul crushing depression seems to be getting worse the antidepressants iv tryed have only made me sleep longer ,the costs of the psychologist i can’t really afford are driving me and my family into the ground .And to know there are treatments that I haven’t tried that could turn my life around and help me be able to contribute to society rather than being a burden/expense. All because I can’t afford to try all the options . Why no PUT life saving medications on a sliding scale, based on income . You big arshole companies still get to rob from the rich and make a little of the poor while at the same time giving back to humanity . The financial cost of depression to society creates a massive burden. Humanity needs to Stop wasting billions of dollars going out into space and Mars ect and fix the problems on earth first .Blatantly wasting money while people are dying here on earth - this sort of thing should be illegal as a crime against humanity. Humans are Fu..k-n. Funny animals . The earth is over populated children are starving to death and dying because we can’t afford medications Yet attempting suicide is illegal ,but big business can kill you bye pricing you out of the market, of life saving medications 😂 🇦🇺🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕

    So far the results from studies have not been successful with this ridiculously overpriced medication. Even if it were cheap, I would say go ahead and give it a shot IF you don't have any cardiovascular issues and are ready for a different approach in terms of a bit of an altered experience. It absolutely without a doubt raises the blood pressure irregardless if you have no blood pressure issues. If you are "cardiovascularly healthy" then the systolic and diastolic pressure should subside after about 40 minutes.
    A lot has changed since he made this video. It is now a Schedule III drug (not a IV) and you can purchase it with cash right online just by filling out a quick couple of questions (literally). This is just bad medicine. There is intravenous as most of you know. It is also now prescribed for increased suicidality in terms of ideation and behavior. One thing that hasn't changed is the research results. It doesn't seem to really work once off the medicine.
    This is for treatment-resistant depression and the studies so far have not shown improvement on follow up weeks after discontinuing. I mean to say that people may feel the benefit while they are taking it, but it doesn't last. That means it will likely become a regularly prescribed medication (the pharmaceutical companies will push for that), which is ridiculous. Society never learns its lesson. When this happens, it will cause increase abuse, addiction, along with dependence just like benzodiazepines, opioid medications, and ADHD medication have done and for what?
    Is it better or worse than other medications? Well remember, it is a horse tranquilizer, and PCP is in the same class and very similar in their chemical properties. I don't think in terms of better or worse just because it is now a prescribed sort of so-called "psychedelic." That thinking is ignorant and biased at best. I certainly wouldn't consider this an entheogenic medicine either. It is synthetically made and is not even close to those types of plant medicines, which shouldn't even be in the same category (yet they are all under the category of Hallucinogens). Entheogenic plant medications can be incredibly beneficial, but if you aren't doing the work individually, it won't make that much of a difference. I know this personally and having spent a lot of time with people from all walks of life who work with these plants. They aren't the saving grace answers even though people think so. However, their behavior from outside eyes would say otherwise.
    The problem with society is that we think a medicine or a plant medicine is going to solve our problems. These are but one of many possible tools that can aid in personal growth. If we aren't willing to do the work outside of this and look at our lives without judgment, guilt, shame, or blame, then it won't work.
    I would say this medicine isn't better or worse than most other medications in varying ways in terms of outcome and efficacy. It is a medicine like others. It is unlikely to be your saving grace like so many comments seem to be hoping for.
    The consciousness that causes disease can not be the same consciousness that cures it. That means if you don't change then it won't change!
