I live in EU and Absorica Retinaldehyde is my fave vitamin a product. It's formulated by a pharmaceutical company in Belgium and the price is much lower than Avene.
I just switched to using the Beauty of Josseon retinaldehyde eye cream but all over my face instead of tretinoin because even at a low percentage and building up to it gradually, it made my skin too sensitive to tolerate any other actives, and i really ike the glow that glycolic acid gives me. My skin was always feeling dry and tight no matter how much moisturizer I was piling on. I'm able to use the retinaldehyde along with other actives without any issues at all. I tomerate it much better.
Same w me. I stuck w 0.05% Tret for just 2-3 times a week for about 1-2 years and no matter how much I moisturized or did the sandwich method my skin felt tight, sensitive, and just uncomfortable. So I switched to BOJ eye serum for my face and my skin barrier has tolerated it better. Occasional dry spots but nothing too harsh. I could even use a mild AHA/lactic acid which I couldn't do before, and I'm still getting the same results though which I love
after using Adapalene, then tretinoin, both where they were extremely effective but highly irritating, I bought the beauty of joseon retinal and its soooo digestible for my skin. It's retinol without the irritation.
I am one of those who never had a problematic skin, but like creams and skincare. I tried the Avene PhysioLift night balm (retinal). They are namned different here in Europe. My skin did not like it at all, I edured it for 3 - months, and my skin got uglier and uglier. I had used other retinoids before without that effect. One day I just stopped. Now I use the Purito uncented cream and the ordinary 2 % retinoid emulsion. Thankfully my skin has cleared.
I had a quick question for you Dr. Dray, if you see this. What is the deal with retinol "day creams"? How does the sun not deactivate the retinol in these? Or does it?
Tretinoin (retinoic acid) is the prescription version, doesn't have to convert at all. It's been around since the '70s, so it has decades of research backing it. Retinol, as stated before, is a cosmetic, so you're just trusting whatever formula whatever brand has made even though brands selling it don't generally have scientific studies on their products. Tretinoin is likelier to be irritating though.
Avene has a retinaldehyde line, along with Beauty of Joseon has the retinaldehyde eye serum, maelove has a retinaldehyde serum, also Naturium just came out not too long ago with a retinaldehyde. That’s all I can think of off the top of my head. If you’re in the EU areas Geek and Gorgeous has a very affordable line I’ve heard good things about but unfortunately for me it cost as much as the product to ship it so not worth it for me.
Is there any actual evidence that retinol/retinaldehyde work? I mean I have this impression that the only thing that actually studied is tretinoin which has scientific evidence of it's efficiency. However, it's so vague when it comes to retinol.
It does work, but it's not as effective as tretinoin. For retinol to work, it needs to be converted into retinaldehyde and then finally into retinoic acid, its active form, before it can work. The issue is that there is a significant loss during this conversion process. Not all of the retinol in your product will convert into retinaldehyde, and not all of the retinaldehyde will convert into retinoic acid. This is why retinol is not as effective as tretinoin, because tretinoin is already in its active form.

Please review naturium retinaldehyde

Hi Dr Dray great to be here this evening as well as earlier today. Thanks for the info about this
I agree consistency is the key.
The product in your hand has changed my skin for the better. I have never used a retinol but I really like a retinaldehyde thanks for the great advice
Hello. Which product is she holding? I cannot see the label clearly. Thanks in advance.
The Beauty of Joseon Revinving Rye Serum with ginseng and retinal
@@Turn2Wellness Beauty of Joseon, Revive Eye
Does the boj eye cream work very well in place of retinaldhye?
@@dazzlingdamsel3139it has retinal in it.
Basically for me Tretinoin is the only one I trust to be really effective, Differin is amazing too for acne, but for anti aging definitely, Tretinoin
tretinoin is the only product with the evidence to back it up for anti ageing effects
Thanks for this info, I was wondering about that😊

Is it ok to put the eye cream on face?
@@mubtashimshadinyes , that’s how I use it. Perfectly safe to use the eye cream on the rest of the face.
Retinol always breaks me out. Retinal, on the other hand, my skin loves it
What brand do you like??
I use this beauty of Jesson eye cream all over my body 🤗
We need Dr.Dray because there is way too many choices out there, and it's confusing.Plus, she is fun to watch.
after using Adapalene, then tretinoin, both where they were extremely effective but highly irritating, I bought the beauty of joseon retinal and its soooo digestible for my skin. It's retinol without the irritation.
Probably because there is barely any in it. 💡
If u talking about the product she is holding, it is retinaldehyde. Is retinal liposome primarily for eyes with only 0.02% of retinaldehyde
I use Avene retinaldehyde 😍😍😍
Love ur videos.

Do you have a Sam’s Club, they have 2 of the big pump bottles of that Gold Bond Body Lotion selling in one pack for a good price!
Your opinion on The Ordinary Retinaldehyde
Please
Hi Dr. Dray. What can you say about the 0.1% retinol cream from cosrx? Thanks!
Retinaldehyde or adapalene for acne?
Adapalene
Is the BOJ retinal that stable? I know people have said bc it’s low price it could be that the retinal is not stable
I had a quick question for you Dr. Dray, if you see this.

Thoughts on not cleansing in morning
Have you seen the Lab Muffin's video? she cliams retinol doesn't work.
Hi Dr. Dray, how about the Retinol VS Retinoic Acid?
I'm curious ☺️

What are examples of retinaldehyde products?

The one she's holding is Beauty of Joseon Revive Eye Serum. It's a decent price and feels nice going on.
Can you pls tell retinyl palmitate vs retinols. Is retinyl palmitate safe during pregnancy
You don't use any form of Vit A when pregnant especially the first trimester. You don't need it.
Can someone use both at the same time?
no, please only choose to use one at night
no point doing that
Has anyone tried Avene or Medik8’s retinaldehyde? What did you think?
I have tried the Avene one. I like it but it's pricey. I personally recommend the Absorica Retinaldehyde if you live in EU.
@@jiawenzhang1554 Im not, but Ill look into it and see it they ship to the states. Thanks!
I tried the Avene it doesn’t work well for me. It breaks me out, and I never in my life had pimples. Ok one every 7 months or so.
@@Mrs_xixi oh no! Glad I purchased the Medik8 during Black Friday.
Avene works great for me
