Kangaroo courts. Trials that already have a predetermined outcome of guilty, usually associated with marijuana-related crimes. They hung the guilty with the innocent - didn't matter. You absolutely need to do Right in Two next. It has one of the most profound lines I've ever heard, and I think it might shake you a little bit. Love always Tío ✌🏽
Well, predetermined is pretty accurate, but I've never heard of it being associated with marijuana related crimes. The exact origins of the term are disputed by historians, but they know it goes back to the 18th century. The two most popular hypotheses are, one it's from the late 1700s when Britain was sending a lot of "undesirables" to Australia for punishment of minor crimes, crimes that were often exaggerated or made up. Being sentenced there was known as the "kangaroo jump", and historians know that a lot of those trials were decided before they started, so assume that's maybe where it came from. The other hypothesis is that it came from the 1849 gold rush in California, which and had a rather unusually large amount of Aussies show up to cash in on finding gold. A lot of miners from the U.S., especially California, resented so many being here, which resulted in a lot of land rights cases against them, and the American courts usually ruled in favor of the Americans, so they think it could have started there. Who knows, but hey, I got to use some of that useless knowledge banging around with the rocks in my head! 😂😂
@sunshynff I so thought this was going to be a "well actually" post and I was pleasantly surprised 😂 this is incredible please don't ever change. And thanks for the knowledge!

It's about a kangaroo court, Eyeballs deep in muddy water is a reference to Dantes inferno. It was the punishment for hypocrites. The song is essentially about a judge who was extremely tough sentencing minor drug offenses, was later caught with the same drugs he sent others to prison on maximum sentencing and was crying for leniency and forgiveness. " Cohen indigo", " lemon juice up in your eyes" is an allusion to fake, crocodile tears. There is so much wrapped into this song. "Weeping shades of Cozened indigo" Cozened is being deceitful or tricking others intentionally but in this case indigo is trying to trick the jury and court with fake tears to get leniency. It's also worth mentioning that Maynard has had multiple somgs about hypocritical and dishonest Christians one is The Noose of A Perfect Circle

Dude, do the run. First track from Opiate to the last track of Fear Inoculum. You seem to love music and musicianship, go for broke. The Tool Army will follow 🫡 Nice reaction, please do more Tool. Spiral out 🌀
Whoever told you Maynard isn’t into psychedelics had to be messing with you. Even if the band doesn’t talk about it publicly very often (or at all) there are heavy psychedelic influences in their music. The cover art for this album is done by Alex Grey, a man with a close relationship with DMT. If you want a funny as hell song by Tool about a psychedelic trip gone hilariously wrong (based on a trip a friend had) check out Rosetta Stoned. The preferred way is listening to Lost Keys before as they’re tied together.
@@dedfishermen985 Yeah, I just think the Schism bass line is more iconic. I guess we'll have to wait until he finally acknowledges which one he was thinking of.
Rob the grave to snow the cradle. The government spending all the social security money that all of us pay into every week. That money was supposed to go to helping with retirement. Now they spent it all and use the influence to trick the young folks into still paying even tho they won't get anything back.
@karlsjunior466 it's a documented fact that the Trump Corporation devalued their properties for insurance coverage and then overvalued their properties for loan agreements and approvals. If you or I had done that with our company assests, we would be arrested for tax evasion and charged with a felony just like he was if we operated in the state of New York which he did. The only kangaroo-esque part of his trials in New York was that everybody in New York knew the man was guilty as hell. I really don't understand how people think he didn't do this. The man has, cheated and failed his,way through his life.
It is called a Kangaroo court. When you don't have a fair trial. "Liar Lawyer show me what's the difference. Mirror for ya." It is reflection and people do lines on mirrors ". 46&2 was the song at the beginning you were thinking about. I have a Tool suggestion. You also listened to the best drummer alive.
The indigo reference is to actors using lemon juice to force tears. But back in the days of celluloid film, the lemon juice would make the tears look a little purple.
you are definitely my favorite tool react. love how you analyze the lyrics. just subbed! if you think maynard's screaming at the end there was something, you should definitely react to "the grudge" the opening track on their album lateralus.
Kangaroo Court: An unofficial court held by a group of people in order to try someone regarded, especially without good evidence, as guilty of a crime or misdemeanor. Cozened: to trick or deceive. Indigo: a shade of blue. The pot calling the kettle black: An idiom that describes when someone accuses another person of a fault that they also have. Hypocrisy: the practice of claiming to have moral standards or beliefs to which one's own behavior does not conform.
I can only imagine the breakdowns you and the young one have when you get to the Judith Marie Maynard saga as told by Maynard. Sht gonna get deep if you scrape the surface first before listening.
Baseline songs: Schism, Reflection, Sober, Jambi, Rosetta Stoned starting at the 6:02 mark then pretty much the rest of the song from there, Forty Six & 2. Those are some of the better bass riff songs imo.
You're probably thinking of the bassline from 46 & 2. It's pretty famous. I like your analysis. Listen to Right in Two if you want religious. Maynard admitted to being atheist but the song can be taken religiously or not.
His friend was charged for minor drug possession and the judge threw the book at his friend. After a few years it came out the judge was not only a massive hard drug user but also an underage lover. So he was pissed, rightfully so might I add.
Eyehole deep in muddy waters refers to the special place in hell just for hypocrites. Where you are put into muddy water up to your eyeballs for eternity.
So the story goes a friend of Maynard’s was busted for pot, the DA prosecuted him and he went to prison. A few years later that same prosecutor was busted in a hotel with hookers and drugs.
Tool covered no quarter by Led Zeppelin and Led Zeppelin got annoyed so basically this song is about calling Led Zeppelin hypocrites because they have ripped off blues musicians for their entire career. The pot is basically saying pot calling kettle black.
I really don't think I've seen a reactor misinterpret lyrics more than you have to this song. You don't know what the kangaroo is, the lemonade in someone's eye is the piss coming out and bouncing off the kettle, the mirror is for comparing and contrasting a liar and a lawyer, you must have been high and you got piss in your eye whe. You missed all over my black kettle. You do know the term the pot calling the kettle black. It all about HYPOCRISY!!
"Weeping shades of cozened indigo". Deceitful blue tears. Welcome to the tool army🤘

Lemon juice in your eye is just a way of saying fake tears, like actors putting a dab of lemon juice in their eyes for a crying scene.
To my "vast" knowledge of Tool reactors, you are The First to hit the introspection theory, calling himself out. Love it!!
"Kangaroo"court is his reference. An unjust court.

A 6-minute Tool song is kind of a short one

When you wonder if Maynard's lyrics mean one thing or another, it's probably both. His lyrics are always deep and multi layered.

Hell yes. I love APC. One of my favorite bands. Billy Howerdel is a master.
Schism is probably the base line you’re thinking of. And it refers to the kangaroo court
I was thinking that or 46 & 2…. Justin’s bass line that he auditioned with to join the band.
I was thinking Sober, most popular, somewhat easy
Almost positive it was Schism. Definitely the most recognizable Tool bassline, especially since the song opens with it.
@@PongGod so does Sober, and it’s much easier
@@dedfishermen985 Yeah, I just think the Schism bass line is more iconic. I guess we'll have to wait until he finally acknowledges which one he was thinking of.
The prosecution of weed dealers whilst the lawyers are all shovelling coke up their noses. To put it simply!
That's a stanky, dirty bass right there. Love it.
They are American. Maynard even served in the Army. Kangaroo = Kangaroo Court.
Welcome to the tool army. Spiral out.
The kangaroo court is a show court where the verdict is already decided. Ala the Soviet Union, in the 70 & 80s
And the Trump trials. He could have been accused of jay walking and they still would have fined him 165 million

Disgustipated is a track off their first LP where he does a pseudoreligious rant. He says "...you see reverend Maynerd, tomorrow is harvest day..."
