- Now we are finally moved into the new workshop it is time to kick off with a new project in the form of this 1985 Mk2 Vw Polo 86c Coupe. In this series I want to try and build a show car on a budget from a 'scrap' car. Trying to show that you don't need to throw loads of money at things to build a cool car.

Double round headlights, mk1 bumpers, gunmetal metallic grey, anthracite interior with deep red accents, polo GTI engine(?), widen arches and wheels, lowered and a kicking sound set-up. That’s my votes.

My first car was a 1043cc 5 speed mk2 polo Parade 😊 always loved these cars.

Berg cup style, retro deep dish wheels, subtle modern Grey, interior plush and black (carpet, alcantara, leather etc) Corsa vxr recaro style front seats.
You must be so busy in the week, evenings and weekends. The amount of progress is amazing. Don't burn yourself out. Love the channel. One of the best on RUclips.

This proposal may be a little controversial, but...
Regarding engine: 1.2tdi 3cyl from Lupo. With remap, it can handle around 100bhp.
Bumpers: narrow in chrome.
Fenders: built in metal and made wide up by Hood/rear windows (a bit like BMW M3)... Not much but enough to get the wheels well up in the wheel arches.
Color: "apple"-green or maybe Harleqin?
Id call the workshop chamber of secrets lol cant wait to see it all underway
The money saved on rent of the unit aswell as only a walk up the garden as a commute are big plus points .
I must say well done in such a quick build of the unit and Im not jealous much!!!

Engínge: pd130 or something similar that would fit..
Bumpers: either none or the smallest ones probably in black/commercial t5 bumper color..
Headlights: There is no choice, round or homemade LED things that will definelty go through the uk MoT.. lol
Color: Thought you had your own DAC signature color mate? ;)

I’d call it UniT5 in homage to your first T5 build.
The polo would look ace in a nice brown with some gold wheels imo, but whatever you do Dan it will look great 👊🏻

Original color, as low as you can go, BBS Mahle 14s with gold senter. Maybe Golf GTi front / back seats in black leather. Headliner and A/B/C pillars in alacantara ish like the T5.
G40 engine with G60 supercharger and toothed belt. G60 injectors.
She’s gonna be a belter when done. Maybe paint it a blue colour
First off, happy almost birthday to Abi. I reckon you should do a full old school rally slack build but with a full tuned Golf GTD engine and drive train. Maybe interior too. Good fuel mileage with silly power in that light shell
Get a 1.2tsi in there and give it some modern G40 vibes. ❤️

Yes Dan, so glad you’re doing a polo coupe. I had two of these, an early Y reg with 4 speed gbox then after that a H reg gt. The g40 was the one to have. Supercharged.👍🏻

A good option for rear arch repair panels is to cut up a front wing from the opposite side.
I had a saloon and was bang on.
Also, these polos are pretty weak so probably best to keep to the small VW engine family.
Anything from 1.3 to 1.6 with carb, injection or turbo.

1.6 on a nice set of carbs . Period rainbow interior same as the 8v Gti golf . Single headlights with the cross hatches . See if g60 arches would fit , would give you a nice stance . There’s a couple ideas . Colour I’d go oak green 😊

Name for the workshop - the DanCave!
Engine I'd recommend is the 6n2 1.6 GTI/6n 1.4 16v AFH frankenengine. 6n2 1.6 bottom end with the 1.4 16v head. Set of ITB's and a decent 4 into 1 manifold and it'll be reeeet
I would do a safari build with light green paint and brown interior with the black plastic trim on the extirior. Ofcourse alot of round lights and some fun accesories.
Love the new project. How about a Berg cup build with a N/A screamer of an engine.
Can't wait to see it 1.4 16v from 6n polo. Slammed on dished wheels. Maybe a pastel colour 🤔
Finally another person who's doing a mk2 polo build on YT! I have a bike carbed mk2f as my daily and its the most fun I've ever had.
For the engine put a 1.6 16v out of a 6n2 GTI or a 1.4 16V AFH Engine from the 6n1. They're the best for the money, especially on bike carbs. You can get around 135hp out of one on bike carbs

Careful when you're cutting and welding. Polos are rather flexible, so make sure it's well supported and any apertures braced, or you can suddenly find you've restored your car but the doors don't shut right.

Whatever goes in it, please supercharge it. Most projects these days are turbo, so would be nice to see a small supercharged hothatch.

Workshop , or should that be "Dan's Den" looks amazing. I've watched from the start but thought I'd add a comment to tell you how much I enjoy your videos. I'd look at putting a bike engine in as it would be a go kart..... also I saw the comment about mint green. Polo mint perfect. Mint green with black leather and a green check similar to the T5 seats. Can't wait to see how itbturns out as everything else you've built have been Fantastic. Keep up the great work. Are you doing anymore updates on the house channel?
I had one as my first car, polo fox, g reg, bread van type. Great little car. Petrol tank used to leak at bottom of filler pipe (new tank fixed it)
My auntie had one 35 years ago, borrowed it for an afternoon, my memry of it was, as soon as you see a roundabout, start braking, because they were so abysmally poor!

The workshop has to include Chamber in it somewhere “Dans chamber” or Chambers Chamber “ etc
