  • In our quest to try and get the polo as low as possible we have stumbled upon a possible solution. In this episode we set out to install Mk1 Golf hubs, Trailer wheel bearings, Subaru Impreza coilovers and some custom fabricated parts. Does it all work?

Some great content in this episode Dan it amazes me how you seem to design these parts in your head then make them with no plans in front of you, it would be interesting to have a rummage around inside your brain to see what makes you tick, I'm sure it would be mind blowing🤯🧐😂

Dan you really need to get a floor standing pillar drill with a good vice for doing the sort of drilling you do, also been looking at a desk top high pressure water jet cutting machine by Denford, looks a good bit of kit and would work well for cutting certain parts like pattern pieces, shims and spacers.

Dan I can do a bit of simple engine work (and have some race rally engine building experience as a youngster) but I’ve never touched suspension mods. Your Ackerman jig was a revelation using those bits from around the workshop and my respect for your technical expertise is through the roof mate…👌👍

I know the laptop designed and CNC cut parts might be handy but how hard is making parts by hand? I know I can't be the only person with that opinion

I enjoy your videos mate, but the bodges and workarounds on that front suspension make my teeth itch..

😂 Bodges and workarounds, What because I didn't open a box and bolt them straight on?

@@DanChambersDAC it's not personal mate so please don't take it that way.. but I am a professional mechanical engineer so it's not just because you didn't 'bolt it on' the top mount arrangement is concerning, there's a lot of load going into a weakened strut top, with no rubber damping and being held together with a weak drilled out nut. The spacers between the upright and damper are sub optimal and ugly but not dangerous, ball joint extenders are a bodge. I understand you're trying to show what can be done on a budget, but safety should be paramount.

Technical stuff Dan! I can't get my head around stuff like this. Wish I could. To think people do this on their drives is mental! Keep it coming mate, gonna be a sick little Dub!

Great work as ever Dan. Polo is coming alone now . Loving how low you have got and the engineering going into making it all work proper headache but it will be worth it in the end. Proper buzzed to see what colour your going to do this one aswell as what your going to do with the interior . Good luck with the rest of it roll on next Sunday for the update . Dave
