Don’t apologize for a longer video. Absolutely loved it! I’m excited for the upcoming projects. I subscribed to your channel because of your hammer restorations but now I’m enjoying all the different tools and what you make of them. That cub cadet is absolutely beautiful. Thanks for another great video my friend.
I have a '79 Cub Cadet model 149 that I've had for many years and love it. The Vampliers I use a lot I have 2 different sizes and can attest that they absolutly work as advertised. Thanks for another great video!
Hello George!!! Christina Perez (a few posts up) has a '72 149! They were a very robust model!!!! Those Vamplier's are so well made! Just beautiful!! Thanks very much!!!!!!
Scout, you've inspired me to start restoring tools. I'm starting small with a Billings Bicycle Wrench and believe it or not that Harbor Freight brush you upgraded. Different skillset using my spokeshave, chisels, etc. Thanks for the inspiration.
Brian, you can't lose with that Billings! Those wrenches are awesome in any condition!!!!!! If the wire brush isn't cutting it you can wrap some sandpaper around a block of wood and use ascending grits! Good luck!!!!!! Thanks!!!!!!
You always have something fun to see. I really love your channel. The tractor is awesome. Great surprise to share... Scoutcrafter, a nice bit of positive to my day. I really appreciate it.
Hello Daniel! I am so glad to hear that! It was a bit long this time but there was a lot going on! lol! Glad you enjoyed the Tractor! 55 years old! Still cool! =) Thanks again!!!!!!
Wow Scoutcrafter you have really wetted our appetites with this haul. The box joint pliers look similar to the ones made by a company called Lindstrom from Sweden who made some really high end quality tools. If you see the name when you are out and about, snap them up, you will not be disappointed. Love the auger handle and very jealous. Kindest regards from over the water.
I have a few of those Vampliers/Engineer brand too. Very useful tools. Like that A.C. paint too! Been around D17, 19 and 21 Chalmers. Awesome Cadet there too! Pull a truck with that.
Hello Salmonslayer! Those Sears Suburban's were awesome! They cam two tone, I've seen Orange/White and Blue/White! Good looking strong tractors! Ever since I was a kid I wanted a Barn! Great stuff!!! Thanks very much!!!!!
That is a great Cub Cadet you have . I have a 1965 Simplicity Landlord 101 that I restored. Those old machines just keep on working if you take care of them .And the nice thing is, parts are still readily available for them.
Hello lwoodt1! I love Simplicity tractors! They were always top of the line! Great design and just beautiful!!! Too bad they had to screw with the gas by adding ethanol! It was better before they added it! Thanks very much!!! 😃👍
That tractor is awesome!! I can't wait to see that red screw driver handle and the aluminum c-clamp get the treatment. Those ''Fit'' pliers are BEAUTIFUL!!!
wow look at all the great stuff you picked up! I really like those Fit pliers. Also you have a very nice piece of property it seems. Thank you for sharing!
Hi Tony! I didn't forget it's just I'm trying to figure out the best way to tackle them! The curved head makes finishing difficult and since they are made to beat on I'm having a dilemma! lol Thanks!!!!
Channel pliers, slip pliers or water pump pliers where they open up for bigger or smaller nuts and bolts unless they are really well made slip, I have had cheap groove ones and cheap slots ones and they just do not lock in position they jump positions when torque applied. Unless you are professional and use the pliers regularly then most people buy cheap and the cheaper ones of these do not really work. Looking forward to the restorations.
Well, the Doyle pliers are sold here in Australia by SCS as ToolPro,same design, the gap is so that thin items like wires, metal sheets can be gripped flat..The retro German pliers and the other silver ones from the Porsche, have a shear type cutter which isnt much good, nowhere near as good as the normal centre cut types, only Marvel of Japan still have that type of cutter, stated as a cable cutter,on one of their tools..I had IDG brand ones and wasnt happy with that type of cutter..The translucent sleeves on the handles were the same as Sidchromes ones, same colour etc, only the German had ridges whereas Sidchrome had their name in that part..Those Fuller pliers also the same as Sidchrome..in the Later years Sidchrome had no choice but to import some tools such as pliers due tooling costs/limited demand..they were made by Kyoto Tool Co..the red handled screwdriver similar handle design to our Stsnley
Outstanding tractor. Don't see them in that condition any more, excellent job bring it back. As said by others will be getting a couple of those pliers. That screwdriver looks like a Mayhew . Plus the red is back. Thanks again great stuff.
Hello Christina!!! Wow! The 149 was a very upgraded model with padded seat and built in headlights!! They were really built well back then! What's really funny is it's easier for us to find parts then someone with a ten year old mower! lol Thanks Christina!!!!!!
Excellent vid!!! Those translucent pliers and the Vampliers are awesome. I have some Vampire tools in order. I’ll be looking for the translucent handled pliers that you presented. Great work as always!
Scout, I just found your channel about a month ago and love your videos. I would like to see what your ideal toolbox would be for average household use. What would be in your toolbox? I would really enjoy that video. Keep up the great work! Thanks Doug Soderberg St. Clair Shores, MI
Hello Doug! The funny thing is as a tool "nut" I have about 6 different tool chests containing too many tools! I just enjoy collecting and fixing them up! Lots of fun! Thanks very much!!! 😃👍
Those Malco pliers are nice. I've had some of the tools they made for sheet metal work I've not used them in years but I keep them in case I ever have to return to that kind of work. Those Shear pliers are pretty interesting. I like the Cub Cadet it's a cool little tractor.
Belive it or not I just purchased Fit pliers yesterday and couldnt belive when saw exact the same pliers on your yt channel. Please write me or put link of yt channel where is full rewiev of Fit pliers because I couldnt find it. Btw love your restoration videos and always find out something new about tools and tehiques of restoration. Big thumbs up from Croatia
So much awesome here. Would you ever reshape the Craftsman wire brush to make it more ergonomic and do your usual upgrades or is that a bad idea with something that's NOS?
Hello Bill, Whenever I find something NOS like that I almost feel an obligation to leave it for future generations to see how things used to be sold... I have a few NOS screwdriver sets that I won't use because you never see them in the original packaging the way they were... However when something is beat up I can do whatever!!! lol Thanks very much!!!!!
Those German pliers with the unchaised flashing look almost exactly like the pliers that came with my Dad's Mercedes from 1974. I believe I still have them somewhere but don't ask me where. I remember they work well but feel small and uncomfortable. Just found your channel today and subscribed. Interesting stuff.
I bet they are the same pliers!!!!! This company has been making the same pair since the 50's!!!! Unchanged! They might not be as good as the newer technology but they look so cool!!!!!! lol Thanks very much!!!!
The reason the pliers for the Porche are so expensive when car collectors restore the cars they like everything including the toolkit and original tools to be present sometimes they will, especially if they are going to show the car everything from stickers and paint marks have to be present anything missing you can be marked down for not having a full toolkit. a crazy almost mental level of detail.
Nice video, i look forward for your next restoration videos. If you like german tools you should give knipex a try. They make really good pliers. Actually vampliers are rebranded engineer pliers. Usually you can find engineer pliers at a better price, at least in Europe. I was thinking of getting a pair, but for me 30 EUR is still too much for a pair of pliers.
Hello Manolis! You are so right, they have the same pliers with green handles for ten dollars less under a different name! They really are nice pliers though... Thanks very much!!! 😃👍
Hi Scout, I am not a collector but I 'love' tools and must have at least 15 pairs of combination pliers. As for the 'gap' my educated conclusion is that when you clamp a thin sheet (about 1/32" to 1/16) with the pliers both jaws are parallel and you get a better grip, where as ones with no gap as soon as you open the jaws you create an inclusive angle between the jaws, therefore the efficiency in grasping something thin is reduced. Btw..just curious..do you sell some of the tools you restore or you keep all?
Hello Michael! Yeah, that gap has had a ton of speculation from so many people, even tool manufacturers differ on their opinions! Lol. I don't sell any tools because I just like fixing them up and collecting them... I used to run a Boy Scout troop for over 20 years and I used to bring a lot of tools down for the scouts to try out and use! Thanks so much!!!! 😃👍
I wouldnt of been able to put the casters on my harbor freight tool cart without the vampliers because they use a flat rounded carriage bolt to fasten them down.
Love that hole puncher, longer the videos the better you have a great mind. Check these out that I found online auction ruclips.net/video/K_f26RlfLUI/видео.html
This joint design is called box joint. The Channellock 349 "Wiremaster" (9" Lineman's pliers) got a comparable joint design. As a tool addict I own a pair of the 349. They are not listed on the Channellock site, but on some stores they're still available: www.amazon.com/Channellock-349-Premium-Wiremaster-Linesman/dp/B00004SBD5/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1529000000&sr=8-1&keywords=channellock+349&dpID=31-ImEtULuL&preST=_SX300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch The pliers are HAPEWE, small german company. This manufacturer is mostly found in tool sets delivered with vehicles, Mercedes for example. This is something you won't find often in comparison to other german manufacturers like Knipex, Gedore, Hazet, NWS and so on.
ScoutCrafter Thats a goosebump memory! Gives me the good chills! As a kid, I'd get on a train pulled by an old 600s numbered F Unit diesel, you know the ones with the round noses....anyway...I'd take the ride to Montauk! If I remember it was like 3 bucks for the whole round trip! As Bob Hope said a million times....Thanks...for the Memories!! Have Fun!
I liked those Fit Pliers so much I just ordered a pair of the #14. The #15 look the same except for the blue grips. Thanks for the video. I also bought a monkey wrench Crescent brand 11inch, I was disappointed to find Made in China on the package, no COO on the wrench though. It works ok and looks OK, but I would have not bought it had I known.
ScoutCrafter I bought those Channellock parrothead pliers many years ago, they were called nutbusters then. They were supposed to be able to remove damaged or heavily rusted nuts and bolts. I never used them much for that. They never got much use.
ScoutCrafter Got my Fit Pliers today. Yeah they're pretty tight. I read somewhere that's common. The company admitted The fit was not as good as knipex but they are cheaper. The shears are very sharp. I worked them a bit and they loosened up a little. I love the looks of them. I'm happy even if they aren't perfect.
Hello Mark! They really are like owning a piece of the past! One of my Subscribers from the UK said they need to be a little tight for them to cut really well.. They are 1950's technology and I think that's all the company makes! Unchanged! I am better with them being a little tight because they will break in rather then being sloppy and nothing can be done then! Thanks very much!!! 😃👍
Hello Alejandro! They were One dollar! I have to see if the rust went under the grips, I hate to shed them but it has to be done right... Thanks very much!!!!
Hello Jusb! Quick question? Are your Fit's a little tight opening and closing? I think it's a break in issue but just curious about yours! They look so awesome! Thanks!!!!!
they have to be tight for the shear to work, anything else and they dont work, ive spent hours to bring them back to functional! i spent a half hour filing the shear edges, another redoing the gripping jaws, and watched an entire movie moving the handles to wear them back in after tightening the rivet, old tools are hard work! let alone my love of elliot lucas and the long nose ones *(been bent and hammered) i resurrected back to nice too
They need a break in and some oil. These aren't Knipex which are already smooth out of the box. Btw.: The manufacturer makes only this type of pliers, nothing else since 1950. I've got the version with the red cellulose acetate handle too. There's another version available with a more modern grip, but I like the retro version much more. If you take a look on the inside of the grips you can still read "Made in West-Germany". German patent from 1950: www.fit-pliers.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/patent.pdf Below the patent is a request from the manufacturer to the PTB from the year 1964. They wanted to get their pliers rated as electrically insulated, a design approval. But this was rejected, insulated pliers must be tested individually (with 10,000 Volts DC in a water basin). The results itself were ok, but only for the samples they've sent in.
Scout, my wife said you only have two hands, how many pliers do you need??? a lot..not enough??? keep them vids coming..enjoy them every day... This is my soap opera...
I had saved the pliers out of my old 80s Toyota MR2, they were junk in terms of a tool, but people restoring old cars what those original tools to put back in the factory tool set..
I got old Russian ones like the German ones same style handle just normall old style cutter and they haven't corode at all one of em have little bit of corrosion on it
Hello Whatcha Cookin! You know that Cub has three forward speeds and one reverse... In third gear it really goes at a nice clip!!! Thanks very much!!!!!
Hello Wyatt! I think that Vamplier is giving some away to some RUclips channels as a promotional thing. The fit and finish on them is incredible! As for the Tractor, 55 years old! It is a joy to work on! Simple! Thanks Wyatt!!!
Dear Lord! We would not do well in flea markets or yard sales. My cringes when I go to the hardware store or flea markets or yard sales. I can hardly close my pliers drawer.
Hello Reds Kool, I bought it about five years ago it had an older restoration but was left outside for sometime... I took it apart and gave it all the fluid changes, grease, adjustments and repaint what needed the rest I buffed out. I didn't even think of filming it as I only had a fledgling RUclips channel! Thanks very much!!! 😃👍
Hello John, I think it's a buffer issue, when I upload a video especially in HD it takes me about 15 minutes before I can view it in HD! I hope it cleared up for you, you viewed the video about a minute after it was uploaded! Thanks again!!!
Don’t apologize for a longer video. Absolutely loved it! I’m excited for the upcoming projects. Hello Salmonslayer! Those Sears Suburban's were awesome! They cam two tone, I've seen Orange/White and Blue/White! Good looking strong tractors! Ever since I was a kid I wanted a Barn! Great stuff!!! Thanks very much!!!!!
All great stuff. I luv that Cub Cadet. Cheers.
Hi Joe! That's right up our alley!!!! Vintage Iron!!!! Thanks!!!!!!
Great video. have been looking at a set of those German pliers for a while now.
That is a great Cub Cadet you have . I have a 1965 Simplicity Landlord 101 that I restored. Those old machines just keep on working if you take care of them .And the nice thing is, parts are still readily available for them.

That Cub Cadet sounds and looks nice!!!
Hello Edwin ! 55 years ago they were quite the rage, it started a whole new fad! Thanks very much!!!! 😃👍
Those red handles on the German pliers look like gummy bear candy.....awesome.
Hello Darrin! They are really attractive and feel nice in the hand! Beautiful to look at too! Thanks!!!! 😃👍
Cool stuff, looking forward to seeing the restoration!
Definitely want to see what you do with the crow bars!!!
I'm curious about that, too. Have a bunch; hoping for some ideas.
Hi Tony! I didn't forget it's just I'm trying to figure out the best way to tackle them! The curved head makes finishing difficult and since they are made to beat on I'm having a dilemma! lol Thanks!!!!
Hi Felix! I'm in the same boat!!!!! lol
Hello Tony! You are so right! I have heard some very good things about Knipex Raptors! I might have to give them a try! Thanks very much!! 😃👍
You have some good tools to restore, That is one fine International Cub Cadet ,Garden Tractor it looks nice. Cheers ! Thumbs up !
Hello Ron! Nothing like old iron! lol Thanks very much!!!!!!!!!

Norherman! LMAO! The red is back!!!!! I will look close at the screwdriver! Thanks very much!!!!!
😍....love the cub cadet! I have a '72 149, and she's my baby.
Hello Christina!!! Wow! The 149 was a very upgraded model with padded seat and built in headlights!! They were really built well back then! What's really funny is it's easier for us to find parts then someone with a ten year old mower! lol Thanks Christina!!!!!!
Malco is one of the best tool makers in existence.. I have many Malco tools.. 👍
Excellent vid!!! Those translucent pliers and the Vampliers are awesome. I have some Vampire tools in order. I’ll be looking for the translucent handled pliers that you presented. Great work as always!
Hello Midwest Tool Review- Yeah! This Fit pliers are the cat's pajamas!!! Lol. Thanks very much!!! 😃👍
i just love these tool videos, and the stories behind them
Hello Lee! This was just a mix of stuff I didn't want to forget about like the wire brushes... Thanks very much!!!!!
Scout,
I just found your channel about a month ago and love your videos. I would like to see what your ideal toolbox would be for average household use. What would be in your toolbox? I would really enjoy that video.

Hello Doug! The funny thing is as a tool "nut" I have about 6 different tool chests containing too many tools! I just enjoy collecting and fixing them up! Lots of fun! Thanks very much!!! 😃👍
Awesome tractor!
Malco tools are usually found at tin-knocker and HVAC supply houses.
It's funny but you hardly ever see them!!!!
Those Malco pliers are nice. I've had some of the tools they made for sheet metal work I've not used them in years but I keep them in case I ever have to return to that kind of work. Those Shear pliers are pretty interesting. I like the Cub Cadet it's a cool little tractor.
Hello Ben!!! Sheet metal work is a lost art! Not many people heard of Malco! I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks very much!!!!!

The Train Conductor Would Carry That Punch For The Tickets. I Don't Think The Engineer Would Use It.
I remember those ticket punches on the LIRR !! Far Out!!
Hello Bill!!! Yes! The LIRR from Montauk LI to Manhattan! They still used them!! Awesome!!!! Thanks very much!!!!

Vamplyers... sounds like a great name! I bet you can yank out a vampire tooth with that!
LOL! I bet you could!! They have such a interesting jaw pattern! Thanks very much!!!!
@ScoutCrafter I can't wait to see those Channellock brand pliers look like new.
Hello Alejandro! They were One dollar! I have to see if the rust went under the grips, I hate to shed them but it has to be done right... Thanks very much!!!!
I too bought some fit pliers this week!
Hello Jusb! Quick question? Are your Fit's a little tight opening and closing? I think it's a break in issue but just curious about yours! They look so awesome! Thanks!!!!!
No, mine are old! Took me ages to sharpen them to cut and the rivet needed tightening, blue handles too
they have to be tight for the shear to work, anything else and they dont work, ive spent hours to bring them back to functional! i spent a half hour filing the shear edges, another redoing the gripping jaws, and watched an entire movie moving the handles to wear them back in after tightening the rivet, old tools are hard work! let alone my love of elliot lucas and the long nose ones *(been bent and hammered) i resurrected back to nice too
They need a break in and some oil.
German patent from 1950:
www.fit-pliers.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/patent.pdf
Below the patent is a request from the manufacturer to the PTB from the year 1964.
Hello Blackie! Your wife is absolutely right! I wouldn't dare mention how many hammers I have! lol Thanks very much!!!!!!
i DON'T WANT TO KNOW..DON'T TELL HER..SHE SAID I CAN'T EAT TOOLS????
I had saved the pliers out of my old 80s Toyota MR2, they were junk in terms of a tool, but people restoring old cars what those original tools to put back in the factory tool set..
Hello Wanton!!! You are so right! Sometimes a second rate tool commands a first rate price just because of what it was used for!!!!! Thanks!!!!!!!
yes sometimes its a similar tool to what was sold, but like the pliers he sold , are chrome plated and no handles
I got old Russian ones like the German ones same style handle just normall old style cutter and they haven't corode at all one of em have little bit of corrosion on it
Sweet old tractor!
Hello Upside downdog! 55 years old and still runs! lol They built stuff to last back then!!! Thanks very much!!!!!

Hello Whatcha Cookin! You know that Cub has three forward speeds and one reverse... In third gear it really goes at a nice clip!!! Thanks very much!!!!!
ScoutCrafter learned how to manual shift on a Simplicity back in the day.
Is a bell .
Thanks for watching!!!!!!
I like vampliers. sir, It's very different design. and I like little tractor.. :D again c-clamp.... LOL...
Hello Kadir! Just finished the C-Clamp for Friday's video! I'm glad you enjoyed the mix of different things... Thanks very much!!!!!
The Vanpliers are getting around. I've seen them on other channels everyone that owns them loves them. Speaking of love...love the tractor!
Hello Aaron! There are some bad vices out there but as far as I can see, tool collecting isn't one of them!! Thanks very much! 😃👍
what do you mean you dont here of Malco much at all there a well heard of company that makes tools for HVAC
did you restore the cub tractor and if did do you have the whole rebuild ... †
How much were the German made pliers?
Hi Bryan - $26 on Amazon, I just loved the way they look! Lol. Thanks very much! 😃👍
Video lost but audio continued. Not sure if it’s on my end or not.
Hello John, I think it's a buffer issue, when I upload a video especially in HD it takes me about 15 minutes before I can view it in HD! I hope it cleared up for you, you viewed the video about a minute after it was uploaded! Thanks again!!!
Working now
HAPEWE . It’s H not M.
