    I have a pair that I've had for over 40 years. I wire wheeled em a while back and cleaned them up and put some oil on em to stop the rust. I used to carry them a horseback while ridding pastures, never knew when you might need em!

    You deserve every subscriber! If even more subscribed the world would most certainly be a happier place!
    Beeing from Europe we have a bit of a headstart over US with regard to old things. The oldest building in my town is from the middle ages, around 1000 years old. It houses a fancy restaurant. The church started construction in 1270 and was finished 1435. Imagine the wait for that! We also have runestones scattered around that are 1000+ years old. You'd think we would take care and protect them but no, they just stand around wherever. The state clean them sometimes though.

Go Upstate and enjoy everything out of the city! Take the GF and listen to Greg Lake a little. I have been and didn't realize he was the one that did the '21st Century' till not too long ago. One more…Many years ago, I worked at a bank and had a customer that did house demolition. Many times he brought in old jars full of paper money, coins and other stuff he found in walls. Just wanted to cash it in. Some was the large paper money issued by banks and really old coins. Bought some but wish I kept it. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Use a pair with an old timer fenceman. At 75 years old he has forgot more then I know . His eyes are as good as the best quality level. They are a must have doing fenceing for acreage. This was not a piece of crap you were working on. Just high quality ice cream. Nice restoration on a must needed tool in the country. Your channel is like watching your favorite shows, you are an entertaining restoration star. Congratulations on your utube channel. I am always looking forward to your next restoration. The regular claw hammer, regular pliers, a fence stretcher and a container of staples were with me for building or repairing fence. The bar stretcher was so much easier to work with than a rope stretcher. It was a load so you did not want to walk very far. That is why many kept their fence lines clear so it was easy to get a truck or tractor in. Not many want that kind work these days. Then again check out the cost of installing posts, woven and barbed wire on 40 acres. You could buy a really good used truck for the money or a serious down payment on another property. Hard to believe a barn with hay loft and good fencing would be almost cost prohibitive.

    I enjoy collecting Diamalloy and Diamond Calk Horseshoe tools because they remind me of Klein Tools. Both Midwestern USA made, and both known for their quality types of pliers. Klein was geared toward telephone and electrical wires, while Diamond stuck with farmer type tools. It's always fun to find a Diamond with the horseshoe logo on it.

    Up here in upstate NY in Schenectady we have the stockade which was burned by the French and Indians in 1690. A few of the original houses still stand! They did a dig in the front yard of one of them years ago and found tons of clam and oyster shells of all things. 7 human skeletons were found under a park nearby too. Lots of history!

    In my home town in the UK there is a Tudor mansion, built in the mid 1500's. A good place to bury something if you buried it deep enough in the late 1400's.
    I have a conflict tomorrow with Jacktown and my local wood turning club. Sad that I will not be able to go to Jacktown, but looking forward to rubbing shoulders with the turning club members. Our meetings are presently via Zoom. We may have the first live meeting at local Woodcraft store in December. I hope this holds, it will be another good sign of life returning to normal.

    HI Scout. ...congrats on 25K! I smiled when you talked about going back in time and burying coins. I had the same thought as a kid. I used to also think about early American furniture - buy it new, store it in a warehouse for a couple hundred years, and then have brand new antiques worth $$$$. I never worked out the warehouse ownership and associated up keep etc. Have A happy day!

    Great restoration on the pliers. I have no use for them but will buy some when I come across them to add to my tool wall. Too nice not to own.
    You’re right with improvements in our skills. I have re-done many a restoration because my earlier attempts were pitiful. And I still finish something and then think, “I should have done.....”. Oh well, next time.

    Funny story about buried treasure. I have this crazy great uncle who got rich marketing colloidal silver machines. He was always an odd guy. When he passed a few years ago, in lieu of a will, I received from the lawyer a carefully drawn map that was supposed to show the position of his gold, which he converted all his money into out of some apocalypse fears. He had buried them 6 ft deep in PVC tubes. Unfortunately, the various trees and rocks that he had used as markers were pretty difficult to suss out on his 12 acres. Let's just say that a lot of holes have been dug, for a lot of years, no treasure. I still own that land and go camping on it twice a year and dig a few holes while I'm there.

    • @jpsimon206
      @jpsimon206 2 года назад +1

      I messed up and forgot the best detail. The reason he buried everything so deep was because he had been an RF engineer earlier in life and had some kind of theory / expertise on the effectiveness of metal detectors and their potential improvement over time. For this reason, he buried all the tubes terribly deep and vertical, so that radar would have a hard time detecting it

      @@ScoutCrafter I cannot wait! My story is actually quite a bit longer funnier and more convoluted but it didn't seem fitting for a comment section. I'm confident you have seen my great-uncle on many talk shows, he and his wife both turned blue from ingesting colloidal silver too much. Literally. Turned. Blue. His wife was a tiny little redheaded Irish girl, that blue skin looks really grim on that skin type

    Fencing is important out here in Arizona. Where I am if cattle come by your house and damage things like lawn sprinklers, it is your responsibility to keep the cows out of your yard, not the ranchers'. I have a roll of barbed wire in the garage from when I first came here and had to rent a place way out of town.
