i am late to the video but i just got my RX 6700 XT and i need help knowing what psu to get? and what psu comes with the proper cords to connect to the 8 6 pin of the gpu or do they all come with the proper cords?
the card requires at least a 650watt, but I never recommend getting what it needs, I recommend going higher because everytime you upgrade your gpu you will need to upgrade your power supply making your gpu that much more expensive. for 15+ years i have been using 1200 and 1000Watt power supplies, i have never needed to buy more, I spent a little more upfront, but saved TONS in the long run, I recommend this one off of my amazon affiliate store: geni.us/IVoE, you can use either the 8pins of the 6+2 pins, but I go over everything in this video.
Well, overclocked BUT it can cause issues in systems with lower end or insufficient power supplies, heat issues and such, give it a try, if it works stick to it, if not, let me know what happens and I will try to help you.

I don't suppose anyone knows what I do if my PC doesn't have that 6 or 8 pin connector that he puts in at around 9:50. Is it just that my PSU is too old?
@@ThisBytesForYou Thanks for answering, and so quickly. I can only see that it's "TSUNAMI" and 600W, no model number or anything. But full disclosure, I bought the PC about 5 years ago. It seems to only have molex looking things... There's 1 x 4pin molex, 1 x SATA and one really small 4 "slot" one (I'd say 4 pin but it doesn't look the same as the molex). It's like half the size.
No worries my friend, I love helping. As for 5 years ago, most of the power supplies I have are over 7 years old, and they have plenty of 6 pins and 8Pin PCIE connections. So first off, Sapphire recommends a MINIMUM of 650Watts, so your power supply would not be good for this. Check this one out, off of my Amazon Affiliate link: geni.us/6bmna, a good price for 850Watts, but I have a 1000 and 1200 watt, for 7 years, never had to update them.
@@ThisBytesForYou Oh yeah, well I should have said that I am looking at a slightly lower performance GPU, this is just the closest installation guide I could find - but the GPU I'm looking at also has the PCI-E connections, but it recommends a minimum 500W PSU. The Dell Digital assistant is great, and yeah, sometimes you need to. But for you you would use your express code, or automatically find it with the auto detect feature and install. You would get the latest drivers directly from intel, this driver: www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/199271/intel-core-i510400-processor-12m-cache-up-to-4-30-ghz/downloads.html 31.0.101.2115 released 12/29/2022

yes, they both need power, if you only have 1 good cord, chances are your power supply is not powerful enough. what is the manufacturer and model number of your power supply.

Hi, I have bought the XFX swift 309, which is a huge card. I noticed you have an Asus rog crosshair viii hero x570 MB in that video, same I have, and also noticed you did remove the fan cover plate from the MB chipset, does this have something to do with the fact that the GPU was not able to fit in the PICe slot smoothly? Cause in my case, I have to really push it hard to make the clip getting closed and secured on that PCIe slot, also thinking on remove that plate too
you dont need to remove the fan cover plate. I did that because I had to add and remove the M.2 drive often, it was much easier to just keep it off. Dont worry too much about the clip, it won't always popup, if youve had a few cards in there it gets a little worn, sometimes you can just pull it up once you know the card is in there well.

You should always use 2 cables, each connection should be individual though chances are it will not solve could whine. If it's bad, you can contact the manufacturers support and they may change the card but it's going to have to bug you that much because you will be without the card for a period of time.
ok just making sure you actually watched it, many try their hardest not to, i can hide coordinates to gold in the video and they will go out of their way to avoid them. The only thing you will need to worry about, is in the BIOS if you have the PCIE slots set to Get 2, you will want to raise them to Gen3 or Gen4.

Hey Bytes I'm here after 4 months with this awesome gpu, i need to ask u a thing about the temps of this card. Summer is coming, so to prevent high temperatures, I tried to disable the "zero Rpm" mode in the adrenalin software and set a fan curve. Before doing this, the gpu was working at 75 degrees, and then, disabling the zero rpm mode, I didn't see more than 60 degrees. So, it's a great thing to do disabling this mode, or it could negatively affect the fans? I'm confused🤣
Zerodb mode is the stupidest thing in my opinion, that idiots that can't stand a little tiny noise that you can only hear if you put your ear to the card got offended with. Does the GPU get two different power cables one with 8 pins each ? I got a Gigabyte 6750 xt. The PSU came with PCie cables that have 6 pin + 2 pin, daisy chain 6 pin + 2 pin and that is one wire. I wanted to know if I have to use two different 6 pin + 2 pin cables ?

@@ThisBytesForYou Sorry brain fused, I mean I have a 6 pin connector spare, not 4, the card has a 6 pin and an 8 pin, I had a more in depth read and the 6-pin alone is not enough to power the card, the 6 pin provides 75w, the pci express has 75, the card has a tdp of 175 so not quite enough, it's a very old supply I got in 2008 (not at home to check model/manufacturer, it was from a pre-built PC from meshcomputers, a UK retailer) so I'll not risk it and wait for my new one before I try anything. When I removed the d card ND have just the sphere plugged in I turn on on and I have no display at all. Using a b450 tomahawk max mobile, amd ryzen 5 3600 cpu The fans of the graphics card aren't even spinning. My ocie only has 6 prongs not 8. Thoughts?
well, you need to plug in both, 8 and 6Pin, you can't pick which one you plug in. AS for the cables you do have, make sure they are both PCIE cables, not CPU power EPS. the 8 pin cable you have, verify they are not 6+2, if it is, you can use the 6Pin of it and leave the other 2 dangling out, I dont mean plug in an 8pin, pin and have theother 2 hanging out, a 6+2 is a 6Pin and 2PIns attached but can come off easy. You could always use this cable, to turn an 8pin into a 6pin though: www.moddiy.com/products/Premium-8-Pin-CPU-Power-to-6-Pin-PCIE-Adapter-Cable-10cm-All-Black.html?srsltid=AfAwrE5R3BeCQEBEVy51aphUgdks3IxJ9iuCd6iOlmqRi2onqNOsgtUGp0Y but no mater what, they both need to be plugged in.

Hi, quick question: I have the Radeon RX 6750 XT and I am having a hard time finding the cables for both PCIE ports. Do you know where these are to be found? I've tried looking with the motherboard and the power supply but am finding nothing.
check the box, the package shows it brings 2, they are modular, so you have to take the power supply out, attach them, then put it back in www.amazon.com/Supply-Modular-80Plus-Certified-ARESGAME/dp/B09BNBWSWJ?th=1
no, you plug in both, if you dont see it attached, its in the box, if its not in the box or attached, you might need to buy another cable or power supply. The diagram shows 2 x 6+2 cables
@@ThisBytesForYou would a 2 work in an eight port? Sorry, bit of a beginner. I have ones that have a six and a 2 but the graphics card has a six and an eight.
Question: What do I do if I only have one PCI E connection? I'm going from a GTX1080 to RX 6700 XT. My current card has 2 sets of cables going into a single connector plugged into the card. Would I have to separate the 2 sets of cables and attach one of them to another connector? Can I just plug my one connector into one of the ports on the new card?
@@ThisBytesForYou Yeah, I didn't think that would be a viable option. it's a Thermaltake Smart 600w. It's part of a prebuilt system I bought in 2018. After some digging around, it definitely looks like it only has one PCIE cord. Looks like I'm adding a PSU to my shopping list. Any recommendations? I'll be pairing the new card with my I7 8700k that also came with the system.
@@BlueOvals24 well the card requires a minimum of 650 watts as well. Check my description for the 1000watt I use and have been using for years, pay a little more upfront but you won't have to upgrade your power supply each time you upgrade your GPU.
@@ThisBytesForYou Wow, the site I used to find out if I needed more power was inaccurate then. It was saying I'd need a 550w. the card requires at least a 650watt, but I never recommend getting what it needs, I recommend going higher because everytime you upgrade your gpu you will need to upgrade your power supply making your gpu that much more expensive. for 15+ years i have been using 1200 and 1000Watt power supplies, i have never needed to buy more, I spent a little more upfront, but saved TONS in the long run, I recommend this one off of my amazon affiliate store: geni.us/IVoE, you can use either the 8pins of the 6+2 pins, but I go over everything in this video.

I don't suppose anyone knows what I do if my PC doesn't have that 6 or 8 pin connector that he puts in at around 9:50. Is it just that my PSU is too old?
Well, what is the manufacturer and model number of your power supply?
I dunno... it's getting so complicated that I'm considering just buying an entirely new PC that someone builds for me which already has a good GPU and giving my current one to my son as a backup for my work haha.

Thanks buddy, i have not done one, and I am kind of scared to do one. Overclocking is EXTREMELY time consuming and not worth it anymore, processors, RAM, gpu's are coming out fast enough that overclocking might net you 3% more performance, a drive upgrade will get you more many times. The part that scares me isnt the time though, it's supporting THOUSANDs of people, as it is, I reply to over 100 comments a day, overclocking guide....

And because of that they had to make it. Fans turning off and on over and over would cause your fan to die quicker leaving it running at a lower rpm when not needed. That is exactly why I made this video linked below, so yes that is perfect my friend ruclips.net/video/SouhvEQRxcw/видео.html
