For an all AMD system, it might be worth it to show people how to enable Smart Access Memory since the BIOS doesn't usually have the relevant options enabled by default. Great video as always Mike, keep up the good work.
Brilliant. The best, most down to earth straightforward explanation of how to swap a gpu and reset the drivers. Thank you Mike. I am going to save this and use it as a guide for people who need to know this. Hope that is OK.
Thanks Mike and Lady Kath for the how to. Normally I just install the new card and drivers. Next time ... I will use this method. Thanks for sharing. Cheers
Great timing as hoing to build an itx pc soon. Have tried gpu on mb using box as test bench but only for bios as no o/s in place. Thanks for thorough tutorial Mike and Kath 🐈👍
I just upgraded to 7800xt from 5600xt. Got a good deal in the messed up market pricing here in my country 😂 really loving it, super smooth and incredibly silent and cool at 1440p high to ultra. I got the sapphire pure white triple fan ❤ used DDU just to be sure 😂 also used it on my sister's pc, coming from gtx 960 to the 5600xt i handed down 😂

What if your CPU has no onboard graphics: the 7500F? Can you remove the graphics drivers or do you have to go ahead with the swap without first removing them?
Just went from a 3080 to a 7900 XT given their 30-40% price drop lately to 650 quid, and hit my first confusion that has always occured with AMD - what's their GeForce App/Experience equivalent, and how do you use it...and how do you download drivers. So much Nvidia muscle memory to undo. I've used DDU to uninstall drivers in the past and it's fantastic, highly recommend everyone uses it.

One of the easy swaps you can do until you hear the crunch lol. Am not happy about the new app nvidia have as they are going to join nvidia control panel to the new app. Just what wee need is more processes as if we haven't already got enough processes running as it is.
I DDU’d when I went from my Nvidia GT710 to my Intel ARC A770 LE. The Intel video drivers that appear almost monthly are not the best thing out there. The cleaning up part of the installation almost always freezes my computer. Waiting for 20 minutes or longer isn’t a solution. A forced shut down of the machine is the only way to continue using the machine again. Intel Wifi and Bluetooth drivers always install without a single problem. I’m using the Intel Driver and Support Assist software. I always make sure all other software is closed, because I know the machine will probably freeze. The machine is super stable, used for 15 hours a day, every day.
i have started doing a disk check & a registry check when uninstalling software for hardware changes, i use something from major geeks, windows repair i think it's called, runs great & fixes so much on windows 7, i have however noticed it's not so smooth on windows 10, but windows 10 & 11 don't seem to like anything unless it's from Microsoft & for me seems to corrupt most apps / programs it doesn't recognise which is a bit annoying forcing me to repair or reinstall,

Normally your videos are ok, but this was just terrible pc advice. NVIDIA to AMD Radeon means DDU as mandatory. This isnt up for debate. Thousands of people who transitioned from nvidia to amd have faced gpu driver issues mainly because the windows uninstaller does not properly remove nvidia drivers which end up conflicting with radeon drivers. Imstalling DDU isn't a pain. > Unzip the file - press the installer to install it immediately to OS drive - it should also give you the option to launch DDU immediately , after booting in safe mode (which is not mandatory), search ddu in windows search bar below and it'll pop up immediately! - then select nvidia and press uninstall and restart (Unlike windows uninstaller where you have to individually uninstall 4/5 however many software nvidia installed, in DDU, you just press unimstall once and it removes all trace of unnecessary nvidia drivers) 🤦♂️ This was one hell of a cringe content to see a RUclips veteran go on an uninstallation adventure with the default win add/remove 🤦♂️
this is old news, AMD and Nvidia have worked together to allow the drivers to co-exist, you are living in the dim dark past. almost all AMD AM5 CPUs have an AMD GPU built in (which uses AMD drivers) and a majority of people use Nvidia GPUs so they HAVE to work together. The advice in the video is great for modern systems, which it is aimed at for the longevity of the video. DDU and totally removing drivers is so old fashioned. And those videos will still exist but are losing relevance in the modern PC environment, the clean install option on AMD and Nvidia drivers works much better than previous driver versions.
