I’m new to cameras. Usually I watch cannabis or gun RUclips videos and bro I have to say your energy, camera presence, style of editing and flow of video is truly inspiring!
I own an original ZV-E10 and I love it. Of course, if I would buy today, I would buy the new version. However, I don't think it is worth dumping my camera just one year after I bought it. It wouldn't make sense, economically speaking.
I bought the OG last year, I liked it because of the price and I only bought the body since I already had the same kit lens from the Sony 5100, I usually take pictures of family and family trips. So I’m happy with it, I own the old minolta 9000 af and glad the Sony cameras can work with vintage glass. The only modern glass I have is the viltrox 20mmFEand aside from that I use a asahi glass, helios and 3 minolta lenses.
2 differences that will make you want MK2: Better video processor for extended use. Gen 1 era cameras (2016-2020) overheat like crazy, not just Sony. You will get around 30 min of stable use with Gen 1 cameras until all sorts of problems happen. Even with "overheat" set to high. Cable/Mini-HDMI connector is notoriously fragile. Gen 2 has USB-C which is way more robust and higher transfer speed. The Gen 1 connector is notorious for disconnecting with the slightest vibration. Both changes due to Gen 1 cameras being the first choice for streamers and vloggers... and the headaches that came with it. If you are a streamer, then opting for MK2/Gen2 is a clear choice!
Nice review. After the initial forced fellating over the M2’s release, there seems to be a growing consensus that the ZV-E10 with an upgraded lens is still gonna kick the ZV-E10 II’s arse for most people using it for RUclips Video. I just bought my ZV-E10 last year and had been kicking myself for six months regretfully wondering if maybe I should have waited for the M2 to come out but now I’m so glad I didn’t. I think the M2 is going to be a massive flop and potentially lead to Sony killing the ZV models altogether after this, because if you want something upgraded from the ZV-E10, just spending a couple hundred more for the A6700 is going to be a better value. The Mark II seems to fall in this weird middle that I'm not sure who it exist for. Sure, the new menu seems nice, and obviously the battery, but beyond that what else? If you've got some 10 bit boner or legit need for that, then you're probably going to be looking at higher end cameras anyway and not the ZV, so-called "budget" cams." My ZV-E10 can probably get me through 5+ More years for the basic tri-pod RUclips stuff I use it for. Honestly, if VLOGGing is your jam, I think there's better cameras outside Sony to look at anyway. Just my opinion ️¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Hello, I bought my ZV E10 last March or April, and I love it. They didn't have the camera with the kit lenses, so I bought a Sony 50mm 1.8f. I bought the Viltrox 20mm 2.8F and the Sony 55mm 210. I recently bought Viltrox extension tubes for macro. Great for portrait pictures, landscape, animals, macro, beach, forest, videos-I even took pictures of the moon. 😁 All new and at good prices. Best decision I made. At the end with all the lenses was the same price of the ZV E10 II. I too was wondering if I should waited but I am more convince I did good decision.
Any of these cameras can do in 30 years exactly what it does today so in reality there really isn't any need to upgrade if you like what you are getting out of the camera. The OG is one of the best selling cameras for a reason.
Does viltrox compete with sigma? I paired the sigma 16mm f1.4 with zv-e10 mark 1 ( OG ). I have to say dang it shocked me how glass changes everything. I did a 12 min vid on 4k24 60mbps ( not 100 ) bc heat and file size. It wasn't that mediocre 4k on cell phones. It was legit like you could see the ends of hair on my beard in a talking head vid. Plus the background blurr was just right. It blurrs out enough, you can tell stuff is behind me, but not that clear AKA good for apartment shooting. The plus, I forgot to set up my external mic 🎤, but bc my voice pitch is from what I was told is like a Nick Lachey? I don't know his vocal terminology, but my voice was solid on the zv-e10 internal mic and I was shocked. Maybe bc my voice and closer up helped the audio. Although I had to push back the camera on tripod about 2.5 feet back to fit my whole face into frame bc I think the 16mm is big. Any rate, how does voltrox compare to sigma? I would bought the mark 2, but no IBIS or built in ND filter? Pass. For $200 more you can get a 6700 or $500 more a Fx30. I chose to save and stick to the Zv-e10 mark 1 and will by a 30-35mm lens and still save a lot. I did buy a $40 dollar external fan.....idk that's my take and my question. P.S The 12 min vid file size was 4.9 gb....lol. That was the sad part.
Really I think it just comes down to do you use the EVF or not. Personally In 5 years of videography and photography I may have used it a handful of times so not really an issue for me, but if money wasn't an issue I'd go for the a6700 incase it was real bright out and I felt like using the EVF
Hi, i need help deciding on what camera to get for a party that’s in May of next year. Let’s say I want to record and take pictures as well. I don’t want to spend too much on a camera, but I don’t want it to suck either lol. Based on my research, I am aiming for the Sony EV but I’m not sure. Or should I go with the Canon R50 camera that you mentioned in this video?
Hi, I’m a student and I have 4 years of college in front, i just want to learn about photography videography and editing, but i can just give 1 hour a day. Is it worth to buy ZVE10 mark 2 or buy og ZVE10 with Final Cut pro and a headphone which I want. I don’t have to upload anything, I just want to learn all those colour grading and stuff. Please guide me.
Thanks for helping me figure out cameras. There’s a lot to learn. Perhaps you can help me. I’m looking for a camera that’s comparable to the A6700. I’m apprehensive because of all the overheating videos so I decided to return it. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
OG is better. Camera body is only as good as the glass you put begin it. invest on lense. For price range of mk2 you can get a better camera body for more specs
This has 10 bit, un-cropped 4k 60, log profile & a lot more. I'd say for sure the zv-e10 II except if you need an EVF. In that case the R50. Both are great though. Some of my favourite footage I ever took was on the Canon m50 and I still use those shots as b-roll in current videos so the camera doesn't matter as much as people imagine.

What lens you recommend for live streaming with the OG
The best video explaining the differences between the two cameras. Thanks you. If I buy will use your affiliate link

Nice. I'm sure your getting some nice looking shots with those vintage lenses. Especially the Helios
Dream camera at the moment! 🙏 maybe since the mk 2 is out, the old model can hopefully have some good deals
Exactly, especially in the used market.

Viltrox is making amazing value high quality lenses these days. The OG paired with quality glass is a beast.

you said it both have a slog2 but my zve10 II don't have slog2? Why is that?
My Bad. I misspoke. It looks like it only has slog 3
Hi Fulaan, price aside zve10 MII or A6700

If you will be taking equal amount of photos as you do video personally I'd go for the R50 due to the EVF

I'd go for a used zve10 if I was tight on cash and I would use davinci resolve over final cut because it's better and free
Tell me you grew up listening to Eminem without telling me you did. This entire video gave me "STAN" vibes... HIS NAME WAS... IT WAS YOU... DAMN...
Actually I never cared too much for eminem growing up.

If overheating is your concern I'd go with the Lumix S5II. You can run that thing for days straight if you like.
Great Job!
Thanks!

This or R10?
