I think you hit the nail on the head with this video.. If you're a solo creator and you mostly do talking head vlogs and basic landscape shots I think this camera is great. However, if you like to switch between photography and video along with switching out lenses for different shots, the ZV E10 is the one to go for for sure. For someone like myself where space in an enclosed area such as a cockpit (where you don't want to obscure too much of the windshield) this camera would work great, so I'll definitely consider picking one up for creating flight videos and when I don't want to carry too much gear on a trip. 👍
I agree! Sean was spot on with this video and really think this DJI Pocket 3 would help us with our Vlog to "keep it simple". Sometimes with vlogs on youtube people don't even notice the quality difference. Nice review Sean! You just cost me a few hundred dollars ;)
I really don't want to sound like I'm starting a heated argument, but what is the difference between a "review" sponsored by the manufacturer of the product being considered and a plain comparative commercial? I mean a video "sponsored by the manufacturer" is no more than a ad in disguise, right ? I'm OK with ads, by the way, and I do get that everyone's got to make a living ! I've subscribed to your channel and really find your usual content great, to make it clear the question is genuine and comes from someone who values your content. I'm just considering the Pocket 3, but have a hard time seeing this video as even remotely reliable for that reason :)
Hey thanks for the note and I absolutely see your point. Regardless of a sponsorship, I'll always be truthful to my actual thoughts about products. The Pocket 3 is excellent and a lot of fun to use. It'll be my new vlog setup and Sony absolutely has a place in my studio and overall kit. Thanks again for the honesty and for being a part of the channel
I've got the Sony ZV E10 m1 as my studio camera, and use the pocket 3 as my vlog and broll camera. It's convenient because the Sony just lives in my studio for talking head videos, so I just fire it up, sit down, and hit record. The pocket 3 makes me actually go out and shoot videos, because of its ease of use, and while you MAYBE can argue a pro could get slightly better image quality from the Sony in those settings (this is subjective), the average content creator like myself is able to get WAY better quality results using the pocket 3 with almost no friction whatsoever.
The big problem with pocket 3 is all the missed shots and missed videos. All the great, unplanned, spur-of-the-moment content that you can't capture, because the device doesn't have the flexibility or capability. There are literally thousands of photo ops that happen only once, and every time you miss one of them, you'll be saying, "Dang, I wish I had a real camera with me". Don't get me wrong. The Pocket 3 is a great tool. It's excellent at what it does. But let's acknowledge the limitations. And remember, $669 could also get you a lens like the Tamron 17-70, which would transform the ZV-E10 into quite a "powerhouse". I mean, if I had the money, I'd get a good lens and the Pocket 3, but some people are going to have to decide what's better for their particular needs.
@@DavidYokelson it's definitely a tool. But I think you're looking at this like a zero sum game. I'm not a professional photographer or videographer, but I do make semi professional content for my business. And the likelihood of me getting out on given day because of the ease of carry, or grabbing the pocket 3 as a last minute thought on the way out the door is FAR higher than me packing up my sony camera and associated gear. So when in moments where I'm possibly encountering a great video opportunity and actually having the pocket 3 on me vs my sony rig is not even comparable. The chances of me just casually having my sony camera on me in order to just on a whim capture something amazing, is exactly zero haha. So that net sum comparison is going to look different for everyone, depending on their use for those tools/level of professionalism in the field/budget, etc. I am looking to get one of those Tamron 17-70 lenses though. I only have a sigma 16mm 1.4, which is great but would like to play around with a little more versatility.
Good response and valid points. For your use case, the P3 may be near perfect. What are some of the functionalities you're getting from the P3 that you wouldn't get from a high-end smartphone?
@DavidYokelson the gimbal is a huge plus. Active tracking is another for sure. I'm a real estate agent, and my channel is informational content about my city geared towards relocation home buyers moving to my city. So it's basically an education channel about my city first, through a real estate lens, secondarily. So my content is made up generally of 2 types of videos: 1. talking head information content (which is what I use my Sony for, as it just lives in my studio), and 2. vlog style content with either outdoor location based shoots or neighborhood community vlogs, including home tours. So the 2nd type is where I exclusively use the pocket 3. The gimbal makes for the smoothest shots I've ever shot, and I have a gimbal for my high-end phone. Not only is the pocket 3 far easier than a gimbal set up, but the results in my experience are far better as well. With the walk & talk vlog shots, the active tracking is exceptional allowing me to always keep my face perfectly in the shot, being able to look away from the camera from time to time without ever worrying of I'm in the shot (like you would on your phone using the better lens on the back). Also, the active tracking is amazing for solo shooting if I want to set it up on a tripod or on a ledge, and walk up to it talking to the camera. It will follow me around in the frame flawlessly, almost as if I've got someone manning the camera. And really, just the combination of those things allows me to get professional cinematic looking b-roll with the pocket 3 that would otherwise be challenging with just a phone. Some other bonuses worth mentioning: the ability to shoot in 4k at 120 fps, shoot in log format (I have a Samsung phone), and easy use of ND filters, removable memory storage, and the SUPER easy use of the DJI mic that automatically connects (I have the DJI mic 1 kit, but being able to use it without plugging in a receiver is amazing for instant great quality sound). Those are just a few things, though I'm certain I'm forgetting something. All that to say, I love this thing far more than I even expected. Its almost one of those things that you just have to use, as the specs alone don't really paint the picture of what all it brings to the user experience.
I recently bought the pocket 3 as my pocket 2 died after yrs of service (most timelapses). The pocket 3 is a completely different beast. The "juju" on it is amazing. I recorded a youtube episode talking head around dusk indoors and was taken away that I didn't need any additional lighting. Great audio... This is the perfect camera for 99% for us. Leuk kanaal heb je. Erg informatief. Blijf posten
Along with my LUMIX S5ii, the Pocket 3 are the best purchases I've made in years. What I get out of the OP3 is astonishing for what it is and its size. And the S5ii is amazing.
I don't know what your goal is with this video I stopped watching at 3:44. You have a great prime lens attached to the Sony at f/1.4 with and an ND filter. but you stopped the aperture down to make it look worse than the DJI pocket in terms of shallow depth of field.
Thanks for the note. I think I mentioned that I had both camera in their auto settings for that shot?Which seems like a a fair test of a setting that I think a lot of people will be using
Thanks for this review. I have the OP3 and love it. It’s so convenient and light weight to use compared to my other more expensive Sony gear. Dlog footage is easy to color especially with the LUT you can download from DJI website. All around great camera for social media content and some client work. I wouldn’t depend on this for photos as much but video for sure.
Nice to see you back. So how would you recommend use the dji for none vloging workflow? Good video like always. Thanks the info about M&C app. Never heard about until now. Also man no cameras are to heavy, more bicep workout 😂
Hey Asiad, I hope you're doing well. I think that in addition to a vlog setup it's really solid for travel and I could make it work in the studio, but I prefer having some lens options for that. Good first camera option for people, too in my opinion I'll be challenging that "too heavy" theory in my next video that's coming out this Friday 👀
Common man! I had the DJI Pocket 3 and compared it to my Sony A7C and E10. The pocket 3 looks very digitized on people. It looks bad if you look at them side-by-side. The Pocket 3 is good for walking around, but again comparing the footage to my iPhone 14 Pro, it's not as good as the phone. Also, it would be foolish to use this in studio where it really sucks. And why is this video sponsored? What's the point of making it when you won't cover its weaknesses?

That is a dang good point and I'd love to use a camera in a cockpit - that is so damn cool
@@seandewispelaere I'll have to email you some footage once I've given the DJI a try in the sky.
Thanks for the video and I wish you well Sean! 👍

absolutely ....with a good lens like that zv e10 mark 1 would have have dusted pocket 3 but this video is sponsored by dji what can you expect

Love the hoodie! Where’d you get that?
This just sold me for the OP3, after months of researching, finally!
I’m tempted to get 3 osmos for a multicam podcast. Thoughts?
Congrats, I expect all of your future videos for the next 6 months to be shot on the Pocket 3.
Thanks a lot for the video, it seems Dji is the one I’ll choose too. Regards😁
Cheers much
For affordability, ease of use, first or second studio camera, portability and straight selfie vlogging DJI for sure
Nice info. Not changing out my a6700 with this one 😊 Makes filming easier with the pocket, but like the challenge 😊
I feel that and LOVE the a6700
When DJI finally drops a mirrorless DJS Hasselblad, it’s going to blow up the industry! I’ll be first in line!
I have the Pocket 3. But I don't see a single short in this video in which the ZVe10 ii isn't far superior.
For my project the Sony camera works better.
Sony is great and still has a place in my kit!
I think there’s a world where both live. I don’t think I can live with just the P3.
That sensor size slide surely isn't correct or using the same scale, APS-C is not that close to the 1" sensor.
I decided not to purchase the Osmo Pocket 3 due to reported issues from some users, such as occasional malfunctions and software bugs.
For convenience yes for professional use not yet
awesome video use examples. thanks for sharing it with us.

Some people saying they r switching from Sony.
This video is so misleading and inaccurate. The lengths people will go for a sponsor. Unsubbed.
Great video. I guess a comparison with the ZV E1 would be much closer except that the price difference increases
I think the comparison to the ZV E10 II is solid, but yea one with the E1 would also be cool
Damn. How did someone else mess up after that other RUclipsr got lit up for doing the same thing?
the main question is for WHAT... for walking talking head , yes , Pocket 3 would be the best, or better to say - more than enough
i want this hoodie
🤩
Your mouth vs the video is disconnected. The Sony had warm video. The other had a washed out look. 👀. But you didn’t notice that. Blinded by the 💵?
@3:35 the video was on repeat on 2 hours for some reason
But you will never be able to get that nice shallow depth of field and bokeh on pocket 3... The footage looks just like home video
