@@nahqiv Plunder was definitely that one part in animes where they go on side quests for a while for filler episodes. That being said, Haunted was a great story, exploring Crow's shame from his previous self, Zavala's survivor guilt, and Caiatl tackling that her mentor did not share the same opinions as to what was best for the Cabal empire.
My 1 complaint after witch queen and season of the rizen. Was the lack of lucient hive. The didn't show up in anything for haunted and only showed up for a bit in plunder. The hive light-bearers were gone outside the seasonal activity, story, and random events in the throne world. The need to come back it's such a cool concept

Overall honestly loved this season. I played less during Season of the Risen and it's crazy how much time I spent playing this season. My main issue with Seraph Shield was how buggy it was and how no one could join you if you were already in the activity on legend. Many runs had to be restarted because a servitor wouldn't spawn. Took me forever to figure out the "can't crouch" work around. Other than that I loved it. I felt Heists were a lot of fun and offered high red bar drop rates. Overall played more this season than the last two seasons. I pretty much got the seasonal titles and then stopped afterwards. I even bounty grinded on three characters. Excited for Lightfall!
While it wouldn’t be super innovative, I’d really, REALLY like to see wacky modes come to Gambit. Gambit is the only core activity in the game to have one selectable mode to queue for and it needs something way more unique than what Gambit Prime was. Now I don’t want to say “throw balance out the window to make a gamemode bonkers” but I feel like Gambit has a lot of potential to be fun if there were more unique gamemodes. Team Scorched in Crucible for example is a very unique, yet pretty balanced gamemode because everyone is locked to a fun-to-use thirdperson rocket launcher. I’ve had an idea for a while about a Gambit custom mode using vehicles, but I’ve thought about how I would go around doing it better. I would call the mode, “Enemy Arms Gambit” where everyone is forced into using some form of thirdperson relic weapon like Scorch Cannons, Hive Swords, or the Vex Shield from VoG (let’s say just Scorch Cannons for now to keep it fair). Banking motes still summons the same blockers, but if your team reaches an invasion threshold, your team gets one vehicle. The first threshold gets you a Heavy Pike, the second gives you an Interceptor, and the final one gives you a Drake. The invasion portal’s size is also changed to allow you to invade with Vehicles, but that risks losing the Vehicle your team worked for if the invasion doesn’t succeed. That way there’s actually a gamble in Gambit if you need extra firepower to succeed. This could be pretty cool, but I know there’s many ways to make it better.
On of my favorite things in both Division games is the Dark Zone, Div 1 was my favorite iteration of it so I'll explain that one. It was this huge section of the map that was an open world area, the deeper you went the harder it got, but the better the loot. There were areas that were like Lost Sectors with powerful enemies in them that had chests of powerful loot in them. There were also public event like things that happened in there too. The kicker is that any loot you got was Contaminated and had to be extracted before you could use it, to extract you had to go to one of several points on the map and call a helicopter which would stick around for a couple minuets before leaving with any loot players and then leave. The second kicker? It was a PvEvP area, players could "go rogue" and kill other players for the contaminated loot they've picked up in that run, and calling a Helicopter would alert any nearby players who could also steal the loot you've attached before it leaves. I spent a lot of time in there, the risk and reward (while not having the risk of losing EVERYTHING like in games like Tarcov) and the tough pve elements made it very fun, even if I almost never went rogue. I have no idea how they would pull something like this off in Destiny, especially considering the TTK is a lot higher in the Div games and mobility isnt as insane as it is in Destiny, but it would be cool to see.
Two years later and this is still the best season in D2 history, this is the kind of story that makes seasons work because there were multiple different opponants to keep it interesting, it felt somewhat overwhelming and like we couldn't relax. We focus on Xivu Arath and Eramis nearly takes control of the satalite, we focus on Eramis and Clovis' plan gets revealed, we focus on Clovis and Xivu nearly lures us into her trap, we focus on Xivu and then Eramis takes over the warsats. It'a not just fighting the same enemy and doing the same thing week on week, the only other season that's done something similar was season of the Witch. Plus the stakes of such a long-term character dying in the end, and one that actually had an effect on the plot.
I just noticed in the ending cinematic for season of the seraph the scene with ikora and Zavala looking up at the traveler are surrounded by guardians wearing D1 armor sets which is cool but sad because I low key miss the more rugged look the armor we had back then compared to the non stop knight and smooth armor sets we have now
Forgot to mention giving all non raid armor mods for free during this season as well. Not super important for veteran, but this is huge for new players. It going work slightly different in lightfall (I think you need a certain light level?), allowing you to need a lot less time from being in the mid game to raid and master dungeon ready. Oh, and they made gms not need max power for you to be at the -25 cap. That slightly less important but still super nice.
The first 20 or so battlegrounds I was like cool I enjoy the level cap. After the honeymoon period I proceeded to speed run battlegrounds because I couldn't be bothered. It's amazing how much you can skip
Datto, please give us your critical thoughts on Diablo 4! I know I wouldn’t be the only one eager to hear your thoughts about that game coming out. I love your perspective because it helps open my eyes to what’s in front of me, Thank you for putting in the work for these videos script or no script, it’s appreciated.
One quality of life update they could do is have random drops in trials. I've ran into, and been curb stomped by, multiple teams this weekend simply reseting at 3 wins to farm trials rank because that was the most effective method for getting. If there was any loot at the end of matches maybe people wouldn't have to reset cards to farm gear
I've been yelling on reddit about stuff like this for years but youtube will now feel my ideas too: 1) I want gambit to be the "silly/crazy/CHAOS" mode of the game. Drifter is a wacky yet mysterious character that walks the line of what we know and don't know. Let his game mode be wild. Give our grenades 200% damage boost but they're all we can use. Make bullets (rockets and grenade launchers included) ricochet of anything minimum 5 times before they impact and deal damage. Make our guardians have giant heads. Anything wacky or crazy. Put it in a gambit playlist. (while also keeping the normal gambit experience) 2) Gameplay innovations should include more brainwork. I get that there is a large portion of the player base that just wants "no thinky-think, only shooty shoot" but I think things like strikes and seasonal activities need more puzzles and interaction and mechanics where it's more than just "shoot, collect, carry, etc". Give us something that breaks the mold for a destiny mechanic, and put it in more than just raids. 3) Make champion mods broader. This is a relatively small one compared to the other two, but I want champ mods to affect more than just specific gun types. I still don't like GM's, only because I have to run specific weapons to *Play the activity* at all. Surges and such that we have and are getting are kind of annoying but I can live with that, not my cup of tea but I get where they're coming from. But champion mods take away any of the fun build crafting I do outside of the activity, unless the mods are for weapons that i'm already using, which is rare. make overload rounds only out of primaries, make anti barrier only on special, and make Unstoppable on power (just an example, don't hate if you disagree). Just make them easier to use in more builds. Anyway LIGHTFALL WOO
Ayyyy Datto with the Hey Arnold aquarium security guard reference with cookies. I think that one with the sea turtle is like one of the first episodes of that series
If you made it to the end of the video: 18:45 "Butt, if Bungie has some weird stuff that they want to try, I say try it." (misspelling was intentional) If you watch any of Jez's videos, you will get the joke...
Imagine later they give you the dog as another vehicle but you have to get it first. You can call it forward like strider or use strand to have it run you through an area. 🤯

It's insane to me that Datto and I have been playing this game for almost ten years. I remember watching his mythoclast raid exotic video in my freshman highschool classes. Now I'm watching this video as an adult working a 12hr shift lmao
These seasons were very interesting ones, and I have my feelings on them, but I always have the mindset of, let's wait and see how impactful this past year was on the next year.
What if bungie added a rougelike endless mode that you would start with white gear and no aspects / fragments and you work your way up? Idk how it would go but it’d be pretty spicy for out there ideas
Risen is probably my favorite of the 4 this year Seraph definitely has much more stuff (Revision Zero and such) but Risen’s armor is just baller af, Guns are either Stronk or just powerful work horses, Battlegrounds was fun, VOID 3.0 and Volatile Flow making Purple a feeling.
honestly i absolutely loved rasputin and his place in the Destiny universe, kinda felt it was super cheap to just kill him off like that, another case of "this character is the strongest character man has ever built" and somehow he has to sacrifice himself because a walking alien insect was able to hack him?
@@MichaelEilers Clovis is still there. The copy of his AI that was in the helm sent data back to the AI Clovis on Europa before Rasputin and Ana deleted him. I can't be sure if he sent his memories but he definitely sent a message saying "they know" to warn his Europa AI that we learned his ulterior motive of using Rasputin to destroy the Traveller and become a warmind/the sole protector of humanity. It's possible that he comes back as a more primary antagonist than how we've experienced him so far (he's been more of a deuteragonist whenever our focus was on Eramis) and forces us to make it a priority to get rid of him completely.
With the callback to the D1 key art, bringing the OG fireteam back into the spotlight and seemingly killing them off, I really hope this expansion doesn't flop.
Its almost a cliché at this point but it really does feel like we're going into the "infinity war" of Destiny. It's all been building up to this. Even a player like me who didn't play D1 can really appreciate how far everythings came, both story and gameplay wise. As of writing we have roughly 14 hours left until launch. The hype in the community is palpable. All of the players I've learned to call friends over this last year are waiting, ready. Its been a great year, and my only hope is that year 6 can carry this momentum. Best of luck to everyone tomorrow!
I feel likethe year of WQ is like a cracked diamond easily one of bungies best years, but also the year with the most cracks (not counting year 1 of D2) the themes and story direction are top notch 2 raids and 2 dungeons in 1 year? awesome light 3.0? great and then there's dungeons are no longer part of seasons and are now paid separately seasonal model stopped improving and people are really starting to notice no more secret missions or events
I still think they should try a game mode where we can equip exotics in every slot. That would be a cool crazy thing to try and you know people would love it

That’s fucking awesome
the datto rebrand looking fresh

Your summary was not dense; it was perfectly concise and to the point. Your choice of information matters
I just noticed in the ending cinematic for season of the seraph the scene with ikora and Zavala looking up at the traveler are surrounded by guardians wearing D1 armor sets which is cool but sad because I low key miss the more rugged look the armor we had back then compared to the non stop knight and smooth armor sets we have now
"Oops you tossed your cookies!" I understood that reference, Football head!
I gotta say that background gm gameplay with jez and Danielle was actually crazy smooth, datto has turned them into proper gamers
The umbral focusing cost was way too high.
Also I love that the dungeon gives you a spark notes version of raid mechanics
you mean seraph's shield?
One quality of life update they could do is have random drops in trials. I've ran into, and been curb stomped by, multiple teams this weekend simply reseting at 3 wins to farm trials rank because that was the most effective method for getting. If there was any loot at the end of matches maybe people wouldn't have to reset cards to farm gear
We're at the turning point of Datto history.
I've been yelling on reddit about stuff like this for years but youtube will now feel my ideas too:
1) I want gambit to be the "silly/crazy/CHAOS" mode of the game. (while also keeping the normal gambit experience)
2) Gameplay innovations should include more brainwork.
Gambit ideas are great, total agree
Ayyyy Datto with the Hey Arnold aquarium security guard reference with cookies.
I think that one with the sea turtle is like one of the first episodes of that series
NEW LOGO?!?!
This was my best Destiny 2 year, I did WQ legend campaign and I quit until last tuesday.
I'm ready for the lightfall era!
It was pretty crazy this season having multiple antagonists that had their time in the spotlight, it kept on changing our focus.
If you made it to the end of the video: 18:45 "Butt, if Bungie has some weird stuff that they want to try, I say try it."
(misspelling was intentional) If you watch any of Jez's videos, you will get the joke...
Imagine later they give you the dog as another vehicle but you have to get it first. You can call it forward like strider or use strand to have it run you through an area. 🤯
I better get my damn dog back or it is John Wick time
For a split second I thought this was a re upload by someone else because idk if I've ever seen the datto logo change lmao good for you king it looks nice
Anyone else craving destiny content like an addict and just scrolling through it on RUclips as we wait for tomorrow morning to give us the wonderful access to lightfall we all crave?
Thank you for letting Arnold sneak by
With your new picture and video, you are really spoiling us Mr Datto
Yay! More Datto incoming!
Idk how it would go but it’d be pretty spicy for out there ideas
that sounds like the stupidest thing ive ever heard
I realized the other day that the Warsats are basically big Sleeper Simulants.
I think it is the other way around
I got that reference, Datto. A fellow Hey, Arnold enjoyer.
So hyped for this video and tomorrow!
Every season of the last year has definitely felt like they’ve been experimenting and I’m really looking forward to the next year in destiny
Loving the new design for the logo!
Full Auto was a nice Quality of life change as well
Risen is probably my favorite of the 4 this year
Seraph definitely has much more stuff (Revision Zero and such) but Risen’s armor is just baller af, Guns are either Stronk or just powerful work horses, Battlegrounds was fun, VOID 3.0 and Volatile Flow making Purple a feeling.
Bungie could potentially move from locking things behind power to locking them behind Guardian Ranks, if they decided to take power out fully
Last paragraph paraphrased: Throw crap at the wall and see what sticks.
I'm all for it.
Thank you, Destiny Dattano
epic video datto!
Whoa, diggin’ the new logo/branding. Great video.
Sparrow Racing League as a core playlist please bungie, its not innovation but god damn I miss it coming just once a year
I would like to have more Datto sums up the story
Man I was so confused about the new profile pic and banner art lol
Hey Arnold reference was golden!
Can confirm the reveal in final shape, we learn that the Witness is Dattos disciple all along 😲
honestly i absolutely loved rasputin and his place in the Destiny universe, kinda felt it was super cheap to just kill him off like that, another case of "this character is the strongest character man has ever built" and somehow he has to sacrifice himself because a walking alien insect was able to hack him?
We kinda got a twofer, as this was also the end of Clovis Bray’s story as well
I guess indirectly that is also Bungie saying Mars is definitely not coming back
@@MichaelEilers Clovis is still there. It's possible that he comes back as a more primary antagonist than how we've experienced him so far (he's been more of a deuteragonist whenever our focus was on Eramis) and forces us to make it a priority to get rid of him completely.
yea he could have easily made a copy of himself in an engram and then did the self destruct
New logo is mad clean
With the callback to the D1 key art, bringing the OG fireteam back into the spotlight and seemingly killing them off, I really hope this expansion doesn't flop.
Datto, loving the new brand logo. So fresh to see it and actually…..ITS GREEN. Datto made STRAND??
Its almost a cliché at this point but it really does feel like we're going into the "infinity war" of Destiny. It's all been building up to this. Even a player like me who didn't play D1 can really appreciate how far everythings came, both story and gameplay wise.
As of writing we have roughly 14 hours left until launch. The hype in the community is palpable. All of the players I've learned to call friends over this last year are waiting, ready.
Its been a great year, and my only hope is that year 6 can carry this momentum. Best of luck to everyone tomorrow!
I feel likethe year of WQ is like a cracked diamond
easily one of bungies best years, but also the year with the most cracks (not counting year 1 of D2)
the themes and story direction are top notch
2 raids and 2 dungeons in 1 year? awesome
light 3.0? great
and then there's
dungeons are no longer part of seasons and are now paid separately
seasonal model stopped improving and people are really starting to notice
no more secret missions or events
I still think they should try a game mode where we can equip exotics in every slot. That would be a cool crazy thing to try and you know people would love it
