Would've been better if she died in that space debris crash in the intro to Lightfall. Now that I think about it, pretty sure that may have been the original plan back before Bungie realized they'd need to buy some time and push the ending to this Destiny saga to a later DLC, and instead stretched the introduction into a full DLC stuffed with filler content - AKA, the Lightfall we got.
Zavala *is* the character that should be affected by Amanda's death the most. She showed up at the Last City early on as a child, and Zavala essentially raised her. That's why she was the Vanguard Shipwright.
Well in this very specific instance. I will give them some leeway. Because it’s not really possible for them to give him in depth voice lines or be featured in well, anything involved anymore. But that excuse only works this one time. In the future they need to figure this out.
@@SH1NK1R01 "that excuse only works this one time" is an INSANE thing to say in this scenario. Implying the death of a VA and therefore that VA's character being less involved is an EXCUSE is out of touch and entitled. Really gotta reconsider your terminology here
@@alexmoberg8943 no I don’t. It’s just the reality that in the event of an untimely death they can’t possibly account for it and some parts of the production suffer. But it’s also the case that time marches on. His passing was sad but if you are going to say that the story should suffer for ever because he died. That’s truly insane. What’s out of touch and entitled is thinking that there is some special way to refer to a scenario like this or that people are obligated to speak on the matter in a way that is comfortable to you. I respectfully kept the specifics vague but since you didn’t understand I bluntly told you what had happened. You can’t just turn around and call foul when you didn’t even know what was going on.
Considering we haven't been involved with him in what like, 5 fucking years? Hearing his voice again was quaint, feels like he was never gone for some reason
I feel like they had the opportunity this season -- kind of like with Splicer -- to focus on the people of the Last City, who rarely get a spotlight, but it just kind of didn't happen. I think the death of Holliday might have been more impactful if there was a stronger emphasis on how civilians contribute to the fight against the Darkness, or how they feel about the Traveler leaving, etc. Maybe then Amanda's mission would have felt more like an embodiment of the will of the people (who *want* to help defend their home but lack the means) instead of a self-serving suicide run.
Imagine if the Shadow Legion tried to invade our home now that the Traveler was gone and the new missions were set in the city. It would help explain why non-lightbearers were with us since they don’t really have anywhere else to go.
One major point people are forgetting about Amanda being revived, we don’t know what happens to a Guardian who gets revived without the Traveler’s influence being there. The ghosts confirmed that while they can still use the light, they cannot feel the Traveler’s presence anymore.
@@Connor_M13 No but people suspect that she will be. I’m just giving a counter argument to Datto’s “We already got this with Uldren/Crow”. If Amanda gets revived, we are in a point in the story where we don’t have the Traveler’s influence on the light anymore, the ghosts confirmed that it’s just gone.
There's nothing to suggest that anything different would happen. There's a lot of weird and different ideals posited by many characters that really only serve to drive home the idea that there aren't necessarily any rules behind it, nor any direct control from the Traveler. They've been very hands off, and also already were absent/wounded up until the red war. The ghosts feel a difference in accessing the light without the Traveller around and any lightbearer or ghost might also feel similar differences, but the mechanics of resurrection and using the light etc. likely remain the same. The Traveler uses the light, probably the most powerful being that does, but doesn't control it all nor is the 'source'.
I feel the same about GG scoring; it sucks getting 100+ medals in a run only for the score to be lower than if I just emote-finished all the orange bars
I love how the season starts this cycle with loss. The final shape is approaching, people are going to get hurt or die. But it was just so darn sloppy, things go unexplained, an emotionally moving ending with Zavala was undercut by I weird revenge mission. Just messy.
Amanda’s death I feel like would have been better saved as one of those who got (literally) pieced up by the witness in the campaign. I would have been mind blown if someone we actually cared for would have been split into slices by the witness immediately upon starting the campaign. It would have really made the fight of “save non guardians” this season feel more important. Just my opinion.
4:57 I think that if they brought her back (that’s a big IF), they would have to do something to make her evil or have a negative character arc, or else they risk all character deaths feeling like they will just end up being a road to becoming a guardian, making death have no consequences
Wild theory: Witness is inside the Traveler now. Traveler gets a ghost to Amanda. Witness corrupts the ghost and we get a dark guardian. Crow is highly susceptible to coercion from Dark Amanda. Leads to heavy Vanguard losses.
@chriseddis Well you can throw that theory out the window. At least in regards to Crow. How is "Crow is susceptible to Dark Amanda's corruption" any different to him being corrupted by Riven? Its all just re-treading the the same stuff we have had before
Gameplay-wise, the recent quality of life changes and the overall feel of the gunplay feels like the best version of Destiny we've ever gotten. Story and content, obviously not, but the gameplay itself is fun and buildcrafting is very satisfying. And the art team never misses.
The power delta changes basically forced us into SMGs or Quicksilver Storm, or just use a Machine Gun as a primary. Feels like the most restrictive season when it came to actual weapon relevance and diversity due to constantly being power capped and a lot of weapons suffering from that.
7:50 I think it was Byf that gave an update on Asher Mir saying he was eventually overwritten in the Vex Network. For anyone unfamiliar, it basically means erased.
I feel like maybe this was the point of the story of the season. Us/Zavala remembering that Bravery.. Devotion...sacrifice has one more line to it. Death. Not the bravery of ciatial, the devotion of misraaks, or the sacrifice of Rasputin. But just, death. Meaningless, non-glorified civilian death that didn't need to happen. Sometimes we act against our own self-preservation.
But that’s what war asks of the people who fight them. To go into harm’s way so that others don’t have…and some don’t make it back. …and it’s not always a glorious end. Sometimes it’s just a trap that someone walks into that ends them. It’s nasty business.
@@gudgurl but…..that is war. That is life. So many people, some that you care a lot about, meet their end in a very anti-climatic way. Not everyone goes out guns blazing
For Verglas Curve, fissures doesnt proc because it causes a secondary shatter layered on top of the base That doesn't count as a weapon kill, which causes the discrepancy.
I can just picture Datto as a titan in the vanguard meeting saying, why are none guardians out in the field risking there lives?! And me as a Warlock saying: Datto you cannot decide the faith of every human, they want to help. Locking every none guardian in the Last City what does it make us? Just another Bad guy with prisoners. guardian or not, we all have known the risk of wandering these fields. Amanda knew the risks and I know, it saddens me to.
I'm kind of just ready to see how this all wraps up in Final Shape at this point. 10 years is a long time and it's starting to wear on me, but I want to see how they wrap up this arc of Destiny and see what it's going to look like going into the future.
No Amanda! Don’t start talking about your backstory ! “Why, am I gonna blow up ?” Worse! Everyone will sigh and make fun of you… and then you’ll blow up.
The problem with Amanda's death is she's a character who sat in the Tower for years and years with virtually no character development, then they killed her off this season and it felt abrupt and unearned. It's hard to care about Amanda dying when we hardly know anything about her other than she's this incredible pilot. Bungie needs to make sure these characters have actual arcs that are longer than just one season if they want people to feel invested.
I literally skipped the cutscene for Amanda by accident and then it cut to crow and Mara Sov grieving over her body at the farm. My brain was so unbelievably lost.
The only reason I can see for non-guardian life being risked is the witness is a sorta, "all hands on deck" situation. If you're part of the vanguard, guardian or not, you need to fight for your life because without everyone's participation we cannot survive. Idk why other than that
Her death should have been from her being a pilot not a soldier on the ground, as one of the few remaining pilots or something like that, when we take out the prison ship we fail From some fail safe the cabal had so Amanda does a suicide run to destroy the ship As an idea I spent 10 seconds thinking of
I love the removal of pinnacle leveling. Gives people who don't play Destiny as a job time to catch up on things. I may have time now to learn the other raids/dungeons I don't generally play, or to finish out my stasis aspects, or to finish some catalyst, grind weapon levels, go do exotic missions, etc.
I know what you mean, I think I spent 90% of this season just grinding for power and pinnacle gear. I’m really glad they aren’t raising it next season.
Thats insane to me, I get maybe an hour or 2 a night and don't think I've ever taken longer than like 4-5 resets for pinnacle. I'm actually sad about the removal just in the sense that I find less of a reason to boot the game. Each to their own I guess, change wouldn't be happening if I wasn't the minority I assume.
The entire point of this season's story was that no one could convince Amanda to _not_ risk her life. Even if it was her only life. A part of the Trauma Zavla experiences with her passing was the fact that he was helpless in it. That even though he raised this person, there was nothing he could do to stop her from following what she felt she was called to do. In his monologues you can hear him fighting through it, saying that there are guardian's in the vanguard with the ability to be resurrected an infinite number of times, who weren't nearly as willing to put their life on the line. The story isn't just "to kill of another character". It, just like lightfall, was examining what it really means to be a hero. Going even further than light versus dark, and saying, "what if the hero had no powers? Is their sacrifice worth it?". Also for the seaonsal activity mechanic, if they wanted you to die for stepping outside of the circle, you would die. You don't instead having a DOT debuf start ticking after a certain amount of time. Which is also then cleansed for short time by defeating a yellow bar. Yes, the safest most efficient way around the mechanic is not to leave the circle, but I believe it was meant to _challenge_ your mobility. You have a limited amount of time to leave the space, with side-objectives that can extend or reset that timer. You can also subvert the DOT entirely with warlock builds (devour, heat rising, phoenix dive or other resto/cure builds). So the point was that you need to leave the space, do something and circle back to it completing an iteration, do that repeatedly and you complete the activity. Not just pitch a tent. So it by definition is a mobility _efficiency_ challenge. Rather than a skill ceiling challenge like a jumping puzzle.
Bungie’s biggest mistake is thinking we cared enough about a vendor who has done nothing but sit in the Tower’s hangar for 5 years and sell blue and green ships and sparrows that I am pretty sure never even rotated.
i have an idea, what if Amanda does get revived, but goes through really bad stuff right after that and eventually ends up being an antagonist leading a potentially enemy guardian race post the final shape saga. so she's basically the yin of Crow's yang. both got revived but one from bad to good and the other from good to bad.
If I remember correctly Asher merged with the network to gather info on the black fleet and how to destroy it. It culminated in him simulating the veil before we even found it. Also, check the ghost shell-Asher’s either dead or in danger of being completed assimilated into the network
This season brought massive Xbox audio issues across Series X and Series S, through headsets or TV speakers. In high intensity situations, especially in GG nightfalls, the audio sputtered and "lagged" as if the console was roasting. Not sure if this is widespread, but at least my fireteam on different setups in different locations all experienced it.
The seasonal weapons have been getting more easy to grab the least 2 seasons, if you random pull and have a full pattern completed, it’ll be less likely to drop and the ones you have less of will show up more, was DEFIANTLY the case in Seraph
My favorite part of the season was how a friend of mine was barely able to play due to a bug that Bungie have barely acknowledged, and thus missed out on Guardian Games and most of the little seasonal content we received. (To those wondering, the bug I'm referring to is the loading spinner bug, which seems to be plaguing a lot of people based on forum posts I've seen) Safe to say it did a decent job killing my enthusiasm for the season lmao
I think part of why this season felt so rough was that it just came off of Season of the Seraph. Don’t get me wrong, that season is far from the best, but with the character writing and relationships within them being so much stronger (not to mention that absolutely phenomenal ending cutscene), this season just felt so lacking in comparison. My main reaction to Seraph’s ending was a deep sense of unease and sadness, all I felt from Defiance’s ending was indifference and disappointment.
Personally, I disagree, because I really wasn't a fan of Seraph. I didn't have high expectations going in, in fact they were VERY low after doing the Lightfall Campeign. I thought it was pretty good, even the Amanda Death, but then the last mission was an abrupt U Turn. And it got me thinking about what I had seen.
The ending of seraph just made me angry, I get storys need to have things happen, but all I did was sit there and "10 years of rasputin teases for that...." haha
Imma be honest, outside of expansions I don't feel like we even need a level to grind. I sincerely hope no new system ever replaces pinnacle cap increases for seasons. And that once you hit the new pinnacle cap a new expansion brings, the only thing you'd ever care about would be the artifact.
Quote from the Lightfall and the year ahead article, “In both Season of the Deep and Season 22, the team is pushing the envelope to create more fresh activity experiences, like when we first unveiled the Shattered Realm in Season of the Lost or debuted Battlegrounds in Season of the Chosen.” Also no vendor upgrade paradigm in Season of the Deep.
The one thing about the possibility of Amanda being resurrected is that it would literally be the exact opposite story as Crow/Uldren. Disliked person does incredibly evil thing before he dies, gets rezzed, doesn't know why everyone hates him. With Amanda, it'd be loved person does incredibly heroic thing before she dies, gets rezzed, doesn't know why everyone loves her. It'd be interesting to see how Crow would react to her resurrection.
I'm just imagining crow doing exactly what spider did and taking advantage of her naivity to try and get what he wants. Then Mara can get mad at him for being a hypocrit for thinking he's different to crow and not her brother but still wanting Amanda to be his friend despite her being a different person.
This was the first season since Season of Undying that I took a break. I didn't finish the story and I let my FOMO fade. Gonna handle the next season a lot more casually.
i honestly think zavala's reaction made sense. amanda was almost like an adopted child to him. and she was lost too early. if you know his backstory, it makes sense he would be so saddened by it. his son was lost in the line of duty too. it destroyed his relationnship with his wife, and they never reconciled after.
Here's my thoughts. I stopped playing a month ago , and I didn't do any bounty prep for the first time in years. I haven't been this disappointed with Destiny since Curse of Oh you know what DLC. I hope tomorrow will bring me back.
I don’t know about others but I personally like having a bunch of npcs in the tower to fit certain roles. It makes the tower feel more lively and more like home for the guardians. Removing characters like Amanda and giving their roles to rahool makes the tower feel empty. It was neat having a shipwright, even if she didn’t do anything
I don't mind leveling being in the game, I just wish it was based on the slot and not the item itself... what I mean by that is, when a warlock helmet drops at 1810 for example, all other warlock helmets get upgraded to 1810 and just remove the need for upgrade modules though I understand that it might create some unknown issues when it comes to weapons since they are tradeable between characters
i am still missing the class swords, i opened a ton of engram(200+) and only managed to finish the titan one, it's annoying to try and get them unlocked.
Very excited to see the change over for the power system. I understand certain things having a power "gate" in order to have only certain guardians prepared for different difficulties. But infusing and keeping a handful of equipment constantly bumped up and moved up every few pieces of gear was just unnecessary and tedious. Doing so had me really lose focus over some gear, like an autorifle I really wanted to keep using and it just ends up getting vaulted or eventually forgotten (but maybe that just says more about my terrible vaulting lol). I think Bungo has made some really great changes and has really been making QoL for the better for the community! So yes, excited to see how things progress for all of us! Eyes up Guardians!
I'd be okay with increasing power levels if they were smaller increments, but going from 1600 to 1800 was completely absurd. I main warlock and use every subclass (minus arc), so I was constantly low on shards and glimmer because I had to keep buying enhancement cores. It's also just kind of pointless to get to the pinnacle cap when you have activities that set your effective level lower than what it actually is, or higher than what you can even attain.
@@samvimes9510 Totally agree on the big jumps. I just think there is a better system for power, which I think Bungo has concluded as well. Because it's just a bit redundant to keep pushing the power cap on gear, ya know? Like in a year will we be up to 2300? and then 3000? then 6000? It's just a bit of a goofy system for power creep. So having a system for seasonal power tied to your actual guardian seems like the better idea and tied to account instead of 10+ pieces of gear.
I don't have a problem with Amanda having been involved in the rescue ops, but why have her in the base at all when she's just about always been the air support? Generally confused on that bit.
@2:36 ur supposed to feel sad datto, i think thats the tone bungie wanted to set...the statement "if we we're going to kill off a character..." saved u, cuz it sounded like u was saying u wanted to be happy she was gone...but...i see ur point....anyways, good video as usual
They didn't "make changes" to combat the instability. They embraced it. Big difference. No real changes were announced regarding stability, they simply told us that now the inevitable reset downtime should be expected, rather than come as a surprise...every week. I would love to hear them say they've created a team, or really anything that sounds like improvement, but currently they've only tempered our expectations.
I still stand firmly on that pinancle grind was a good middle ground. Leave power leveling for the big expansions and pinnacle only for these seasons in between.
@@nahqiv When are you ever locked out of activities? You gotta be massivly behind for it to effect what activities your doing and it takes like 3 weeks running only one character to get pinnacle cap. 4 if you got really bad rng. So like 8 hours a week to do all pinnacles if that. I'm likely gonna get on tomorrow and there will be very little to probably check out given I wont need to pinnacle grind. I like going after all the triumphs but that will happen naturally just chasing the seasonal challenges each week so I didnt think it was a huge hassle
Regarding Verglas, I don’t know if it’s just me, but I feel like ADS is *too* zoomed in. I tried it out for a while on my Hunter, didn’t like the feel, went back to Cryosthesia
One thing about this season that I dont see anybody asking: from a purely strategic standpoint, why the prisoners? Why would the Shadow Legion and by extension the Witness and Calus, want or need prisoners? Contrived, forced plot point perhaps?
Looking foward to getter servers. I love not having to level during the summer. So, hope, really hope, season has more content. Also look forward to our merged clans! No more LFG! Thanks for all your content, Datto!
Zavalas lines landed for me especially hard not because of Lance dying, but because Zavala as the character ever since beyond light has been going through major shit >guardians start using darkness like its nothing, without his knowledge >ikora goes after savathun, again using darkness, without his kownledge/consent >his entire worldview shatters when traveler himself gives savathun the light >rasputin sacrifaces himself, and while he wasnt big friends with him, he did 100% rely on his armaments to help with the black fleet >2nd collapse and the whole travelerussy thing >Amanda was up there as one of his closest people. Technically he did go over "traveler not rezzing deserving people" with his grief over Hakim, but I can imagine it also not happening to Amanda did sting a bit in the back. Would anyone really Theres probably a lot more stuff that I dont know about as im not that big of a lore 5head. Im amazed this guy is even still holding on together.
I have so many goals in Destiny already that Power is like, in the way. I have plenty to acquire, accomplish or literally level, like weapons. It would be neat if powerfuls and pinnacles gave you dramatic progress on a weapon level or something like that.
Agreed on all points apart from the safe=zone mechanic. I used Strand to zip out of the safety zone and grab the objective then book it back. That was one of the hilights for me and I really missed having strand when I ran sunbracers instead. Oh, and I thought the top tier of perks was a big pile of meh but I'm probably missing something?
Strand grapple definitely works but when you're doing the legend version, especially the orbital prison one, the safe zone room is definitely not worth using grapple unless your team have you covered relentlessly
Mara Sov showing some emotion finally was an interesting change of pace. It only took what 9 years? Or is saving her, her people, her prison, and the world for her to warm up to us
My biggest hope is that Bungie puts the artifact into loadouts so I don't need to individually change out perks for when I want to swap between subclasses
I've seen a lot of people asking why Amanda was there, why the vanguard lets non-guardians do things, etc. but I disagree. She was a brave, strong, determined fighter and it was her decision to help out and risk her life. I think they established that pretty well with her backstory, and I'm glad they gave her the agency to make a difference and ultimately give her life for it. Her actual death definitely felt a bit lame, but I don't mind that came about like it did.
Honestly I've been appreciating the overall consistency of seasons since Season 13 (Chosen) and that we've been getting story beats in game more rather then just being told what happened in a blog post, especially as someone who remembers the dark days of Undying through Hunt and just how much of a slog that whole year was especially compared to now. (Also can we stop pretending that the Season of "Return to Ada-1"and Season of Gambit were all that great outside of the weapons themselves?)
Though I agree with you about season of the Joker but I absolutely loved Black Armory. Scourge of the Past is still one of my favorite raids (love the opening area).
I think the only way they could make Amanda coming back as a guardian impactful is if they mirror Uldren's return, going from reviled madman with good intentions to golden boy who can't stop fucking up, and make her go from everyone's favorite cowgirl to an outright problem antihero
I loved this season. I was origianlly super excited for witch queen. But ended up not playing it. Didn't touch D2 till I saw the trailers for Lightfall and fell in love! Forsaken was a super fun time as well. This game has proven to deliver on the excitement eventually. And I couldn't be happier that Bungie has succeeded this far.
So does anyone now if it is Fissures or not, and if it is fixed? Because i was having issues not even using a stasis subclass and thought it was just the bow being funky.
The blind well mechanic was perfect for this season, it was basically the “I like this, but this is better” meme, but with strand subclasses and starfire protocol warlocks.
Im just thinking bout it now, but if the explosion was the trap, why did the '''''lockdown''''''' alarm even go off? Why give misraaks time to evacuate the hostages instead of the trap going off as soon as they get too far into the base? Also if its too hard for misraaks to do it, can we kill eramis already? Shes overstayed her welcome already and the pity well has run dry.
Well they did confirm that season 21 won't feature a upgrade 5x3 or 3x3 system so I feel like already it's a better season than season 20. I'll be honest after playing since the beginning of D1, this season was the first season I really just checked out on. I did all the story beats but after that I played other things. Season of the Deep so far feels like it fits my vibe so I'm excited for that. I like horror/lovecraft style things, so season of the haunted last year was my favorite season and looks like we might get a similar situation with deep
I feel short-changed that I just bought an expansion and season and don't feel like I got the full value. I feel short-changed that it ended extra early. I feel short-changed that on top of the above, Guardian Games eats up 3 weeks of it and they charge for an upgraded event card. The Season theme was pretty dull and might as well have been called Season of the Season. The story... if it's not fantastic, then so be it, as long as there are good activities and rewards. This was so-so. And yet? Reached a higher rank this season than any season I've ever played. Like, truth be told, its not because I'm having loads of fun on Strand as... I'm a Hunter main... I build around a kinetic handcannon and use void weapons for volatile, so its only there for suspend. Its not because I've got more weekly stuff to do, I've got less, they took away 3 weekly strikes from me (they made it so you can get them in nightfalls). _I think it might be,_ (come to think of it now I've just mindlessly rambled)... the change to Light Levels. Beginning of the expansion was annoying af trying to do Lost Sector's on Legend under-levelled, which then shortly thereafter became a godsend for being able to do master content when it caps you at 1815-1820. It just allowed me to do more high-end, fun content with newer players, which to me is an absolute positive, and having next season not increase the power cap makes it even sweeter.
@@epicgamerzfail4575 Bungie's motto, "Don't put too much effort into a story or DLC, we can't elevate the players' expectations or they'll expect us to do more than just stay in our comfort zone of making barely passable 'content'" has been on display heavily as of late.
One thing about seasonal stuff that bothers me is how much running you have to do. I’d rather have a horde mode or a stand your ground “battleground” than just start here, kill things through here, get to boss and end here layout. Idk just a thought
As someone who couldn't enjoy this season at all I'm interested to hear Dattos opinion as this is the season that made me take a much deserved break from Destiny and really games as whole for a few months.
ha, I done exactly the same mate. Got bored of D2 super quick this season so took a well deserved break and feel better for it. Not hyped for the new season either tbh.
@@HyperionRexx same Destiny feels like it's lost some kick with lightfall which is a shame and I hope for a real kicker to drive me back in even if it's just to casual play, but for now I'm definitely just gonna watch from the sidelines.
Bro why do you say much deserved like anyone is keeping you playing. It so very normal to stop playing a game for a while. Let some content build up so you have stuff to come back to
I'd go for Amanda's resurrection if they made it a case where it wasn't the traveler that did it, but us in some way. Might be interesting to explore the morality behind it and segway past the dark/light saga thing. It'd have to be executed perfectly to be good though. Very easy to make it odd or off the rails.
I'm having a hard time separating my feelings about the season as a whole from Lightfall's campaign. That first few weeks really took it out of me and I just had a hard time enjoying the game after that so I checked out about halfway through the season.
What I would *like* for Bungie to do about Power leveling in general is take the changes with the ritual vendors and eventually carry them over into more areas of the game, hopefully phasing Power progression out of the game entirely. Instead of just getting random drops whose only value is "number go up," you'd have more tangible rewards like exotic drops, and maybe materials like Ascendant Shards, Alloys, Vendor Engrams, etc., things which would still be worth spending time on even for players that have already put in the collective 40ish hours you mentioned. Like for example, perhaps the Nightfall 200k point Pinnacle would be replaced with a guaranteed Ascendant Shard, so that players who aren't able to do higher level variants still have a way to fully masterwork their armor in preparation of said higher difficulty content. The weekly campaign mission may instead drop an Alloy, so on and so forth. Personally, I would be all for this change, as it both removes the frustration of relying on RNG for progression and makes all the rewards more valuable to (almost) everyone.
just do GMs, youill get 6 ascendant shards an hour, 12 an hour on double rewards week, they rly need to remove the 20 shard limit tho, got sick of upgrading all the random exotic armors ill never use in my storage
@@rifie1495 you completely missed the point of what I was saying. I personally have no issue farming GMs. But having Ascendant Shards available as a milestone reward would give players that aren't able to grind GMs for shards a more accessible source of them.

Its one of the seasons of all time
@@JA-kr1lz Come on, last year's seasons actually had pretty good stories. Though this one......yeah this one sucked.
@@hmx8694 with the exception of plunder i would agree
Although this season was really mid, I did like the inclusion of devrim, rather than him standing in one place for years
Considering we haven't been involved with him in what like, 5 fucking years?
Hearing his voice again was quaint, feels like he was never gone for some reason
Oh boy i cant wait for him to stand in place for another half a decade before he gets shoved into the plot again
They seem allergic to acknowledging the Last City outside of lore tabs lmao
Imagine if the Shadow Legion tried to invade our home now that the Traveler was gone and the new missions were set in the city. It would help explain why non-lightbearers were with us since they don’t really have anywhere else to go.
One major point people are forgetting about Amanda being revived, we don’t know what happens to a Guardian who gets revived without the Traveler’s influence being there. The ghosts confirmed that while they can still use the light, they cannot feel the Traveler’s presence anymore.
Darkness time
She was revived?
And darkness was what let Savathun remember...
They didn't invest the time to make Amanda's death earn the emotions they were looking for. This is true of most big moments in the game.

@@sinzspades733 I mean, it is his opinion and doesn't require the video to validate their opinion.
That being said, it was definitely a season.
Gameplay-wise, the recent quality of life changes and the overall feel of the gunplay feels like the best version of Destiny we've ever gotten. Story and content, obviously not, but the gameplay itself is fun and buildcrafting is very satisfying. And the art team never misses.
Other than the loadouts, the rest of the armor mod changes were terrible
@@marklo6283 i like that they condensed the ammo finder mods but overall the mod changes were not a good one.
Music and VFX never miss either.
The art team was clearly on vacation for weapon designs
The power delta changes basically forced us into SMGs or Quicksilver Storm, or just use a Machine Gun as a primary. Feels like the most restrictive season when it came to actual weapon relevance and diversity due to constantly being power capped and a lot of weapons suffering from that.
Just so you know Datto, I never finished any Red Border Weapon this season. my drops were stupidly low and i was getting bored very quickly.
Nah...don't try to see deep meaning where there's none.
It's just half assed half baked phoned in content.
@@gudgurl but…..that is war. That is life. So many people, some that you care a lot about, meet their end in a very anti-climatic way. Not everyone goes out guns blazing
The seasonal quests felt a lot less like a drag in previous seasons. Major improvement for me as I like to go through it on all characters.
For Verglas Curve, fissures doesnt proc because it causes a secondary shatter layered on top of the base
That doesn't count as a weapon kill, which causes the discrepancy.
Of all the seasons of destiny this is certainly one of them
Vexcalibur being a glaive and not a sword feels like a crime
No Amanda! Don’t start talking about your backstory !
“Why, am I gonna blow up ?”
Worse!
She had a bit more development in the lore
I literally skipped the cutscene for Amanda by accident and then it cut to crow and Mara Sov grieving over her body at the farm. My brain was so unbelievably lost.
The only reason I can see for non-guardian life being risked is the witness is a sorta, "all hands on deck" situation. If you're part of the vanguard, guardian or not, you need to fight for your life because without everyone's participation we cannot survive.
Idk why other than that
Because they want to? Amanda put herself in that situation because she wanted to help people more directly.
@@cryw1092 yeah exactly
Thank you for everything you do Datto
Her death should have been from her being a pilot not a soldier on the ground, as one of the few remaining pilots or something like that, when we take out the prison ship we fail From some fail safe the cabal had so Amanda does a suicide run to destroy the ship
As an idea I spent 10 seconds thinking of
Let’s not forget that bungie’s eulogy for Amanda, a VIDEO GAME CHARACTER mind you, was longer than reddick’s. The bastards
Honestly TY for the stream time, I always miss them 😢
Bungie’s biggest mistake is thinking we cared enough about a vendor who has done nothing but sit in the Tower’s hangar for 5 years and sell blue and green ships and sparrows that I am pretty sure never even rotated.
i have an idea, what if Amanda does get revived, but goes through really bad stuff right after that and eventually ends up being an antagonist leading a potentially enemy guardian race post the final shape saga. so she's basically the yin of Crow's yang. both got revived but one from bad to good and the other from good to bad.
You tell the story like a newscaster. I love it.
If I remember correctly Asher merged with the network to gather info on the black fleet and how to destroy it. It culminated in him simulating the veil before we even found it.
Also, check the ghost shell-Asher’s either dead or in danger of being completed assimilated into the network
I'm just hoping these changes to the formula they were talking about in season of the splicer innovate in interesting ways.
bud that was nearly 2 years ago
Better to keep low expectations, otherwise Bungo will always disappoint.
Seasonal activity was dope - Agreed on all of those points.
I did not know emote into a finisher on orange health bars was a thing... The amount of activities where we fell 5-10k points short..
I was literally just looking for this video!
Love all the videos as of late :)
Feels like the only moment that stuck with me was zavala kneeling over amandas coffin, but thats ofcourse for another reason : (
My favorite part of the season was how a friend of mine was barely able to play due to a bug that Bungie have barely acknowledged, and thus missed out on Guardian Games and most of the little seasonal content we received.
Seraph was such a high and that’s why defiance felt so low
Personally, I disagree, because I really wasn't a fan of Seraph. I didn't have high expectations going in, in fact they were VERY low after doing the Lightfall Campeign. I thought it was pretty good, even the Amanda Death, but then the last mission was an abrupt U Turn. And it got me thinking about what I had seen.
The ending of seraph just made me angry, I get storys need to have things happen, but all I did was sit there and "10 years of rasputin teases for that...." haha
@@shauns28 that's exactly what pisses me off the most about it
Imma be honest, outside of expansions I don't feel like we even need a level to grind. I sincerely hope no new system ever replaces pinnacle cap increases for seasons. And that once you hit the new pinnacle cap a new expansion brings, the only thing you'd ever care about would be the artifact.
I hope that the power level will be removed once and for all
Quote from the Lightfall and the year ahead article, “In both Season of the Deep and Season 22, the team is pushing the envelope to create more fresh activity experiences, like when we first unveiled the Shattered Realm in Season of the Lost or debuted Battlegrounds in Season of the Chosen.” Also no vendor upgrade paradigm in Season of the Deep.
Thank you for my opinion. I didn’t play any of this season so I really needed this so I knew how I felt about it.
14:00 at least that one had suspense with Crow almost blowing our new and fragile alliance
You could give more info when referring to past season, I don't remember what season 16 or 13 or 8 was...
Finally I know what I should think about this season
I don't mind leveling being in the game, I just wish it was based on the slot and not the item itself...
what I mean by that is, when a warlock helmet drops at 1810 for example, all other warlock helmets get upgraded to 1810 and just remove the need for upgrade modules
though I understand that it might create some unknown issues when it comes to weapons since they are tradeable between characters
Inb4 Amanda will be ressurected as a "Witness guardian" because of what the Witness is doing inside the Travaler.
Traveler
Hum...doing inside The Traveler.

i am still missing the class swords, i opened a ton of engram(200+) and only managed to finish the titan one, it's annoying to try and get them unlocked.
hoping for a fun season with some replayability and an engaging/coherent story plot

They did not say it would be every week also they said it wouldn’t be permanent
I still stand firmly on that pinancle grind was a good middle ground. Leave power leveling for the big expansions and pinnacle only for these seasons in between.
I hope that the power level will be removed once and for all
@@nahqiv When are you ever locked out of activities?
Wish you could tie the seasonal artifact to builds
Looking foward to getter servers. I love not having to level during the summer. So, hope, really hope, season has more content.
Also look forward to our merged clans! No more LFG!

>ikora goes after savathun, again using darkness, without his kownledge/consent
>his entire worldview shatters when traveler himself gives savathun the light
>rasputin sacrifaces himself, and while he wasnt big friends with him, he did 100% rely on his armaments to help with the black fleet
>2nd collapse and the whole travelerussy thing

Theres probably a lot more stuff that I dont know about as im not that big of a lore 5head.
They really killed almost everyone in the hangar
Poor Saint 😢
I started playing destiny again too late in the season to get all the red box's from the war table... I hope I can still finish them next season.
You will have until the next major expansion next year to unlock all seasonal red borders for all seasons released in lightfall.
@@EggyWeggyIII oh thank god... that's great news!
I finished the season content from start to finish this past weekend.
Yep, agreed with Datto on the Zavala stuff because HOLY FUCK THAT HIT LIKE A TON OF BRICKS
Out of all the seasons, this was the most seasonal of them all
So does anyone now if it is Fissures or not, and if it is fixed? Because i was having issues not even using a stasis subclass and thought it was just the bow being funky.
Literally been farming neomuna weapon red borders for months and this week I got the final red border for the pulse took me 3 weeks to get that drop 😭
This review was very much within the threshold of my expectations of your opinion.
Defiance was good. Not bad, not amazing. I feel expansion seasons always take a backseat to the expansion itself.
But that wasn’t what happened last time . We actually had a damn good season to pair with witch queen. Bungie can do better
@@solarearbol1469 witch queen was an exception in a lot of ways. Unfortunately we cant expect it to be the norm, including its season

@@joshuavidrine889 Yep, Bungo's director himself said that...cannot overdeliver.
Same here. First time I've taken a break from the game. Hoping Season of the Deep blows us away!
Perfectly sums up my thoughts about the season
Hearing Datto talk about game engines is now on the level for me of Leafyishere saying "literally"
I really enjoyed the ritual weapon! It’s the only glaive that I find fun to use.
