I think a lot of people forget Bill Sr is not the only person who knows how to Tune a Carburetor, there's no black science to it so there's no reason to go all the way over to Ohio.
Maybe they like going to Ohio.

The first 5 seconds of the video got me super excited. I love seeing this car again especially with the 8.2 deck. This car keeps me motivated on my 85 GT 302/5 speed build.
For having problems it sure launched hard and 60 foot wasn't to bad,I was going to guess the vents was dumping gas but after ready some of the comments you said it broke the distributor gear that make sense once you two get it dialed in it definitely is going to be a beast. I'm happy for you two looking forward to seeing more of the mare keep up the awesome content and as always be safe 👍
Stay glued to the data recorder and check up inside the plugs for aluminum specs after EVERY pass and that 5.0 block will live...
(The pre-5.0, middle '70s back 302 block was stronger)

I’ve following that car since the early days of MM&FF and it’s always been a killer even today. Please don’t take this the wrong way and absolutely no disrespect to you the crew,MMM or the car but please EFI the Mare. I look forward to watching the car get sorted out and crushing dreams.
I appreciate that, but the problem we had, was nothing to do with the carburetor, the distributor gear went bad.

There wouldn’t be much of an episode because nothing was done to it. Not internally at least, the only thing I would say was done to strengthen it would be the mid plate and motor plate, but I don’t know if that really counts.
Need to shake the cob webs out and take a good look at it , probably a day at the track would help figure it out..good luck

its hard to go from banging gears street racing to shifting an auto i kept trying to yank the shifter into 2nd gear when i went from a 5spd to a c4 in my car. its a learning curve

My stock short block 302 laid down 630hp and 610Tq with a pair of heads intake, cam and HP performance 66mm turbo kit on 16lb of boost.

@@MissMidnightMaverick I had that exact same setup making 1200. Kevin mentioned me adding vents and it cured my issues. 🤷🏻♀️

Is the timing locked out or does it still have mechanical advance because it may be advancing on hard acceleration.

What are your cam specks?and would that work on a turbo app?
On this car, it just has a Trick Flow stage 1 cam. It’ll work on a turbo application, but turbo cars tend to like a little less overlap than blower cars.

What's the engine combo? I seen some about a stock 302? Guessing just sbe? I put a on3 kit with the standard 70 on a bone stock engine, this was in a 93 lx and it made 500hp on pump gas with a t5. Later I put a an ancient set of Canfield aluminum heads and went blow through 750 with a vic Jr and it was a riot on the streets. This was almost 10 years ago and here in SE Ohio no one was doing shit on streets. I bet I swapped 25 stock t5 in and out of that car during it's creation. I went through few sbe 302s before going with a roller 351 and the tko600 probably made around 700 wheel when I sold it.

Agreed. But Ohio and California are two different places on the map. You can't tune it in Ohio and expect perfect results in California. The air is different the altitude is different too.

Wouldn’t that blow off valve work better on the outside of the bend?
Check the bowl vents it may be dumping back in the carb from the Gs and double check trans fluid, mine would do stupid shit if it wasnt a little over full on the 1-2 shift.....all my issues was from start to about a second into 2nd gear then ran like a kicked cat. Had the distributor pin all but shear in half but was wedging in itself causing timing to jump around but not go completely off script and spin though. Just some suggestions, good luck
I just got the inside scoop 5 min ago. She replied to my comment and said the distributor gear was shredded. It had the crazy x girlfriend timing advance. You were right

Mark Miller from Oklahoma holds the stock block e.t record 4.98 I think
He had both the stock block and stock short block record. Stock short block was 5.64 and stock block was 4.94.

Do you guys run at LACR? Or is it even still open? I used to race motocross next door as a kid.
LACR shut down in 2007, unfortunately. It’s a big huge hole in the ground now because Granite Construction thought they could find stuff in the dirt under it.

My 6btm was bad and it would run fine till 5k rpms
hah yah you can't just put any automatic into neutral after a pass or while at high rpm, you also can't shut the engine off while in gear at the end of a run until the rpm come down. You can do these things if the transmission is built with what's called a clean neutral, basically gives you two neutrals. if you don't have one built for it, you can send the drum through the floor pan. Sounds to me like you need to give the SRC guys a ring lol.

@@avboysgrandpahollywood oh are ford transmissions different? learn something new every day. I figured they'd all be the same with automatics, gm - ford. gm 3 speed and 4 speeds you shouldn't put them in neutral or shut the engine down at high rpm/end of a run because of drum over speed causing them to explode unless the transmission was built to do so.

What fuel is that ur running? I’m pushing 19lbs on my 88 tbird stock long block 5.0 Running pump e85 to eliminate knock.
C16, we’re running nitrous too.
I bet that really helps lower the iats with the shot of nitrous.
Would you guys consider going to e85 or is c16 better?
@@elliottsimmons25 it definitely helps a lot since we don’t have an intercooler on this car. E85 tends to have a very narrow tuning window when you add nitrous. It can be very volatile and cause detonation pretty easily, so I don’t think we’d try it, especially not with the stock short block. It’s a lot more forgiving with the white car because we’re not pushing that car to its limits.
