I’m so glad the shifter helped. Now a seat to keep you rigid and there’s no stopping you! The racing is great and your spunky personality is freaking awesome! Don’t ever stop being you❤
Tess and Tony you guys did a fantastic job So crazy that little Ford motors out there gapping s*** like it is 400 and something horse and it's out there tall gapping 😅 everybody
The fact that your still smiling makes it a good day. Back in the late 70s and 80s I had a 66 chevelle that ran 12.0s give or take but I had my alternator wired to a toggle switch so I could turn it off when racing and I had a Hurst comp plus shifter. Tess you did great you need to try and relax and with the never give up attitude I feel you got this. God bless and as always be safe.
My daughter was cheering you on grabbing my and then screamed she won she won. Then I got to explain to her a red light was. She said you still won anyway 🤠. Great vid and love to see you having fun. My daughter says hello and is practicing saying it like you do🙏
Great job Miss Mav aka Tess... What's more exciting watching you PB every time you hit the track or Tony say really.... If you man is in pressed than you done good lady...In time you will have it master in Stick shift class... Especially when you are having so.much fun at it. Those moments make for great Vids... Thanks for sharing your guys success... Kickn Sss and taking names!
Really impressed with your driving. Your shifting is much better. Don't worry about it anymore. It's only gonna get better. Once you get comfortable with staging and develop a routine, you'll be making da Trash Panda eat.
I love it you are getting her into her own car and working on it. I know there would be more women out there doing this if they were supported like you are to her!
You are doing amazing young lady!!! You know that stick shift racing is the only real racing, anything else doesn't measure up. I'm so glad that people still enjoy dumping that clutch at six grand and letting go, an amazing feeling!!! Keep up the good work young one.
Good day Tess. Don't beat yourself up about the reaction time. Get the launch rpm and shifting down, then work on the reaction time. Remember, you're learning all over again with the stickshift. It'll all come into it with seat time. But yeah--- good day girl !
You two definitely bonding like a couple and its cute to watch. Keep up the great work kiddo you'll get it soon enough. Ty for the content be safe God Bless.
I think this is so great. Lots of girls used to race in my days, not many left now days. I reced a 71 comet G T in the 70s. Didn't know what I really had until I went to a automatic. Loosing RPM between shifts. Love the videos. Thanks for the memories.
Tess, Maybe a "Rock Crusher" style shifter as they had on old Mopars would help you? With the hand grip, they have on them, the length, and the curve in the handle, it may be exactly what you are looking for? P.S. You need an "It's not an LS" sticker on the Maverick... or some "Powered by Ford" stickers... or both. It'll keep those Chevy guys from getting confused. Lol!
tess you make me so proud that was definitely your best pass o yea she go 10 45 she going to go .. you go girl tony and tess love you both stay safe your friend on long island new york
Just throwing my two cents in. I'm a stick shift guy. My car has a MSW short throw shifter but I also changed to a weighted plastic cylindrical shifter, kind of the shape of a Red Bull can. I was skeptical at first but it shaved hundreds off of each shift pretty crazy how just a shift knob can make that much difference.
Oh man my jaw hurt at the end of this video. Between just laughing at ya'lls shenanigans and smiling at ya'lls excitement with every pass..... such an awesome vid. Great job guys!
I always really liked a Hurst "T" handle. I adjusted it to fit the angle of my hand to the shifter. It was extremely comfortable, and it was easy to hold on to ripping 2nd and 4th. It worked for me. Maybe it would work for you.
It’s crazy that something so small in the whole scheme of things like added shifter length can help improve the efficiency of the whole run like it did.
Thousands of tips, here's 1 from a person who taught power shifting in school. Try the 3-4 shift wide open. Trust me it works. Psychologically the 2-3 shift is hardest, and the 1-2 shift is a close second for trying to train the brain. Get out on a empty highway, hammer 3rd., with your foot resting on the clutch, pulling pressure back on the stick, then just tickle the clutch, DON'T LET OFF THE GAS. I promise you'll laugh at finding out how easy a wide open 3-4 shift is !!!! Once your confidence builds try the 1-2, then finally the 3-4. T.S. RACING 🏁
At 22:40 I was so relieved you know exactly what the shifting problem is. Hope you find a solution. Until ya do you can try setting your body in the position it's going to be in when you shift into second so when you actually do shift to second, you will only be using your arm. Hope that makes sense
Ya done good. Think you're right on the new taller shifter. You aren't moving your body around as much to complete the shift. I hope a straight one doesn't make you start hunching your body to complete the 2-3 shift. Generally you want perfect seat position before finalizing shifter length and angles.
My suggestion is to put a Mopar style pistol grip shifter. The shifter is getting jerked out of her hand and has to re grab to get 2nd. Same hand position every time will help I feel. Fun to watch Tess
See I told you needed a taller shifter, looks like you need a shorter throw on shifter try the old T handle or a pistol grip style handle make it fit you .
Digging the old school approach, keeping it a hot rod you can drive everyday and not a race car that's questionable driving on the street occasionally. You seem more confident each time you take it out, just figure out what works for you and have fun doing it.
USE the MSD 6AL-2 and activate the 2step rev limiter with a clutch pedal switch. Set it to what ever you want your launch rpm to be. Beam-in, clutch to the floor, accelerator pedal to the floor, 🚦, and drop the clutch as usual. No looking at a tach or pedalling a specific rpm. Just mash and go! If you dont so this soon I'm breaking up with you Tess. Ill still watch Tony with the Ohio boys.
On a positive note just think about it your street car is faster the alot of people's race car or what they claim is a race car great job tess and Tony
Since you 2 been hooked up with SRC/old mans garage youve got so many more followers and wow driving Jimmy Dales stang for the win your a popular gal/racer.Saw you in the live Jimmy Dale with old man in mullet, funny as F$CK and as pretty as you are your respected by the men for your talents on track, safety first and would like to see you live with LIMPY some time.
Ok- I have a solution!!! Run a 6AL-2 box. Use a 2 wire clutch safety switch and tap it into your be housing so it is pressed in when your clutch fork hits it and closes the contact. Hook this to the single wire ground to activate the 2-step on the MSD box. Presto!!! Adjustable 2step rpm triggered off your clutch- you can press the clutch, give wide open throttle at the light, and focus on that tree!!! I used this method on my fox bodies flawlessly.
Stick shift is the hardest to do so don't beat yourself up it's easy to go fast in automatic transmission well easier than a stick shift I've been watching you src and chief those are my favorite to watch..❤
Okay test you did pretty good girl Mark Booth from Pennsylvania said so beautiful tell your husband you're doing better tell your husband doing better okay workout in your arms and more you can shift better start with lifting weights on your arms both arms and your legs to your feel better
Its fun to see you all excited .. i didnt get a 460 shoehorned down into my foxbody like i thought i could … so i built a rowdy lil ole 5.0 that will hold lots of nitrous or boost … my gf has never ben in anything fast so ill start out slow then work my way faster … i cant wait to see her reaction !!!
Hi Tess I think you need to put a 1970 challenger pistol grip shifter it would be the right angle for you to shift them gears keep doing what you’re doing you’ll get it it takes practice but it looks like you were uncomfortable with that ball the Mopar challenger shifter is the perfect angle that you need good luck
I've noticed that when they pull out the Zamboni and they just sweep the surface it's not only picking up loose rubber but it's also scraping a thin layer of layed down rubber along with the track prep and it makes the track worse to the point it's even making low horsepower cars spin on the hit
Awesome! Congrats on the 10.70. That's moving. I wonder if instead of a straight shifter you could get away with a forward bent shifter. It might keep your hand more level.
All those thoughts you're having as you stage,, those will go away with more laps Tess. They will not be in your mind at all and you'll be clear headed focused only on the tree, laps, laps, laps will fix everything. 🙂
Nice job,,, maybe move the seat right to be closer to shifter, and put a real containment seat with 5 point harness so you’re not getting bounced all over the place on the launch so you can gitit into second… and if something goes south you can be safe!!!!!
Good job. Try exerting pressure on the shifter before the gear change. It will not come out of gear till you bump the clutch. I think a straight leaver would be better. 😉👍
What do i do with my hands and my feet ? 😂😂😂 When you're done the burnout, then get into a "stage the car" mindset. Worry about shifting after you launch and just slow your mind down. Don't get ahead of yourself. Make a conscious effort to slow your mind down.
Tess really needs to get a staging brake/hydro brake that way she can stage the car like normal and after she lights the top bulb she can use the hydro hand brake to easily roll the car into the 2nd bulb like she would in her drag car and if she had a hydro brake she can bring the car up to the RPM she wants to leave at and just have to hold her foot there and just work the hand brake and I think that would help her cut a way better light and mostly all stick shift car's are running them street car's and drag car's
What are your thoughts of putting a 2 step on it and wire it into a button on the shifter and the clutch switch.. That way you'll leave at the same rpm everytime and you floor it and as soon as the clutch releases it takes off. If you wire just a button you have to worry about timing that, but if you wire both a button and clutch switch it'll be one less step you gotta worry about at the line. I hope you understand what I'm saying, it's kinda difficult to explain through a comment. You're doing great though, just when you was talking about it's not like a trans brake car, you could make it like one.
Focus on when the last amber lights up, or goes out, depending on how quick your response is. That is the only light that matters after you stage. You're still a gangster, I saw the wheels come off the ground on that third hit! Tony'll have you carrying the wheels all the way thru 1st soon lol.
Could you possibly turn the shifter around. If the mounting points allow it and you've got clearance in relation to the dash , while in 1st gear it may just be what you like. 💪🙏
Could you use something like a stutterbox that way you can set your rpm and floor it so you don't have to watch the RPMs when you are staging it's just a rev limiter heck you probably already have it LoL 😂 love the channel guy's it's awesome keep them coming
😂"get outta there"😂
Love watching Ford powered Fords kicking butt. Great job Tess, you're only gonna get faster!
I’m so glad the shifter helped. Now a seat to keep you rigid and there’s no stopping you! The racing is great and your spunky personality is freaking awesome! Don’t ever stop being you❤
Awesome guys
Tess and Tony you guys did a fantastic job
So crazy that little Ford motors out there gapping s*** like it is 400 and something horse and it's out there tall gapping 😅 everybody
My brain sent the wrong signal to my foot...LMAO. Your doing great Tess! You just make me smile! Thanks!! 👍
Glad to see the clutch held up and you all had a good time and the more seat time you get the better you will be
The fact that your still smiling makes it a good day. Great Video Tess and Tony! Its entertaining to watch Tess having such a great time with her car. :)
Great progress. It looked like a fun day. Although Miss Midnight Mavrick, it’s time for a harness. I always enjoy your videos.
My daughter was cheering you on grabbing my and then screamed she won she won. Then I got to explain to her a red light was. She said you still won anyway 🤠. Great vid and love to see you having fun. My daughter says hello and is practicing saying it like you do🙏
Congrats on the 10:71.... seat time will get ya there 😊
Great job Miss Mav aka Tess... What's more exciting watching you PB every time you hit the track or Tony say really.... Can't believe the camera person took advantage of Tony like that bending over working on the car. 😂😂😂
Great job! Making improvements every day.

Gave me goosebumps grabbing those gears. Great job! Great job!
You two definitely bonding like a couple and its cute to watch. Keep up the great work kiddo you'll get it soon enough. Ty for the content be safe God Bless.

YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND ARE AN AMAZING TEAM AND COUPLE!!! You two ROCK, yeah 👍
It's a good day when you don't break, have fun, and get Texas Roadhouse on the way home😊
Tess, Maybe a "Rock Crusher" style shifter as they had on old Mopars would help you?

Nice work Tess! Huge improvements!!!

Like the maverick says “don’t think just do”.
Right on Tess and Tony it was a good day love seeing Tess so excited when she ran the 10.75 Tony to very Cool love y’all
I always really liked a Hurst "T" handle. I adjusted it to fit the angle of my hand to the shifter. It was extremely comfortable, and it was easy to hold on to ripping 2nd and 4th. It worked for me. Maybe it would work for you.

Doing amazing job it just takes practice 🎉🎉🎉❤❤
It’s crazy that something so small in the whole scheme of things like added shifter length can help improve the efficiency of the whole run like it did.
girl you just need seat time. brother, you are a good man, patient.
Just take your time and do one thing at a time and you will get it and just keep your head up and good luck and be safe and God bless you guys
How about a pistol grip Mopar style shifter?
Awesome video ! Enjoyed it. Just keep being you. Thanks Tony for your fine camera work!

I love seeing people race Mavericks, they remind me of people racing VW Bugs, the super light bodies with big engines stuffed in them, oh yeah 👍 😎 👍

Don’t make it so complicated and just Do it 👏🏻❤️🙏🇺🇸✌️

Damn that's Badass. Your shifting has improved so much. 10 seconds in a stick car is pretty damn impressive. Especially with a Ford engine 😂
USE the MSD 6AL-2 and activate the 2step rev limiter with a clutch pedal switch. Set it to what ever you want your launch rpm to be.

I am impressed how well you shift that car .....nice job
Awesome video! I always liked a Hurst pistol grip shifter.
I just love you Tess you are amazing!!
Get a t handle that way tou can turn it to the perfect angle for your hand and you'll never slip off of that plus super comfy
Great video and Miss Mav's smile is a great way to start my day
Instead of a shift ball try the pistol grip type
Since you 2 been hooked up with SRC/old mans garage youve got so many more followers and wow driving Jimmy Dales stang for the win your a popular gal/racer.Saw you in the live Jimmy Dale with old man in mullet, funny as F$CK and as pretty as you are your respected by the men for your talents on track, safety first and would like to see you live with LIMPY some time.
I’ve been on Limpy’s channel before! About a year ago I think.
Ok- I have a solution!!! Run a 6AL-2 box. Use a 2 wire clutch safety switch and tap it into your be housing so it is pressed in when your clutch fork hits it and closes the contact. Awesome video.😎🙌👍👏🇨🇱🏴☠️🏁
No granny shifting I you know better your miss midnight sure hope you paint it blue you're definitely killing it girl good teacher Ton❤
Good job. Why are you granny shifting? More RPM on the launch. Teach her how to power shift.
I've noticed that when they pull out the Zamboni and they just sweep the surface it's not only picking up loose rubber but it's also scraping a thin layer of layed down rubber along with the track prep and it makes the track worse to the point it's even making low horsepower cars spin on the hit
Great video you’re friends are awesome
That black 5th Gen Camaro is badass and when he puts that car on a track that can hold the power that car makes he's going to make a hit
Bad ass driver with a badass car!
Tony up the spray jets lol jk good job
Gettin it in on banging those gears😎love the maverick!
Awesome! Congrats on the 10.70. That's moving. I wonder if instead of a straight shifter you could get away with a forward bent shifter. It might keep your hand more level.

Great job Tess!
I would put a 2 step on it should help with staging the car
I’d like to learn it without the help of a two step.
Grabbing gears !!!! You need Jimmy Dales little wing
Nice job,,, maybe move the seat right to be closer to shifter, and put a real containment seat with 5 point harness so you’re not getting bounced all over the place on the launch so you can gitit into second… and if something goes south you can be safe!!!!!
That car ROLLS!
Y’all are a one-off a kind love when y’all are at the old man’s house
Tess is amazing. Lucky tony
Tess please get some safety gear on that seat....anything is better than a lapbelt.
Hot Mess Tess 🤣🤣... Good job!
Oh, and the best part ?------ when the guy in the '56 that you smoked asked if it's an LS, and you replied-- NO IT'S A FORD !! DAMN RIGHT GIRL !!
Good job. Try exerting pressure on the shifter before the gear change. It will not come out of gear till you bump the clutch. I think a straight leaver would be better. 😉👍
Just luv y'all! So legit, but still so damn fun.
Watching your driving video I believe a harness would hold your body better and make your shifting easier and more consistent....just a thought
What do i do with my hands and my feet ? 😂😂😂 When you're done the burnout, then get into a "stage the car" mindset. Worry about shifting after you launch and just slow your mind down. Don't get ahead of yourself. Make a conscious effort to slow your mind down.

I think a longer offset shifter would be better, I have always preferred that type
Great job 👏👏👍
It liked the gears. Is there anything done to the front for travel.

turn the shifter around with the curve forward, if you can reach it might help.
