I think the blue looks good on the little Mav. You guys should paint the whole thing in blue. Good driving Tess. Burning clutches is just part of the learning experience. And the work experience.
You did great Tess, you always have such a good outlook on things. And Tony!! Give that man an award!!! 👏🏻 he’s so supportive, it just warms my heart how he tells you “it’s alright, we’ll fix it, you did good”. True MVP right there. 👏🏻😎 #TonyForPresident
Nice video!! I love hearing that Maverick lope!! I think that is an awesome street car and enjoy watching you and Tony. You two are funny and look comfortable on camera
Tess I think your shifts are awesome, but I don't watch your content because you're beautiful I watch it because you both have fun and make each other smile and that's amazing. Hopefully you'll get better at everything
Awesome as always. You two guys are definitely a hoot. Once you get really good at the stick Tess you’re gonna be a force to reckon with. Tony has surely killed his share !!😂🤣😆
Everytime I see your Mavericks I remember our Mavericks, my parents owned three, a 70, 72 and a 75. I had two, the 70 with the Boss 302 crate engine and a four door 75 that I had in the service, definitely a beater but couldn't kill that straight six. The 70 with Boss 302 and Ford top loader was a lot of fun, hairy to drive some times but fun none the less. It spun 15" N50s like they were nothing and revved up above 7k she would try to jump off the road when you banged third gear. Had a 8.8 out of a Granada with a Detroit locker with 4.11 gears.
Tess you are starting to get a handle on how to drive a stick shift car ! It will only get better and better listen to Tony he has load's of experience and is more than willing to help you with the learning curve. I truly appreciate how you interact together and always support each other! Go make memories and have fun !!💞
Watching you guys check the plugs reminds me how much I hated doing that on my 73 grabber.. The edelbrock heads changed the angle and made the middle 2 on the passenger side impossible to access without unbolting the mount and jacking the motor up.
Do yourselves a favour and look into the single disc slipper clutch you can get them from Ram or Mccloud and Black Magic they’re all essentially the same design
Car is looking, sounding, and running good! Enjoyed the video. You have a great sense of humor and I almost always end up laughing out loud at something during your videos. You and Tony are cool folks.
@@MissMidnightMaverick Maybe give a Mantic twin disk a try, just put one in with my TKX and they are killer,, Def have to break in tho,, I’m sure u got a Sponser tho..😂
FUN FACT GUYS...If you use a laser temp gauge and check your EGT's while it runs you can get a better idea on the rich/lean threshold which will save you time on plug change.
Dude tony how you support and bring the positivity towards Tess is freaking inspiring solid man ! Tess your doing great I don’t care what anyone says racing stick shift is an art and it takes time ask the pile of smoked clutches in my shop 😅
On old Ford's you can simply remove the strut tower brace and weld in a flat piece of steel to the top of the strut mount. Clearance issues solved. I see people do it all the time. 😎👍
I'll probably do that eventually! But I'm having too much fun burning up clutches to want to pull the motor and do fabrication work to the strut towers right now 🤣
Car looked and sounds great, working out the bugs and getting used to new trans and clutch. Look at the bright side your going to be really good at pulling the trans and changing clutch's, good luck.!
Congratulations Tess, you done a good burnout, you made multiple passes and even drove it back to the trailer. Glad to see the tkx is good. Looking forward to seeing how the white car do in Ohio when it get warm.
Tess, I was just thinking on the way home from work how close to a track video from you and Tony it should be, was excellent timing! (Just remember, clutches are like tires - so many passes and throw it away) ALL THE BEST!!!!
@@MissMidnightMaverick It's difficult along the way, kinda humbling - but it'll be the best teacher! I have no doubt it'll come to you, and when it does you'll be more than proficient - I've seen the determination in your eyes when you go after something. You'll be 'Miss Midnight Manual Maverick' LOL!!! Those shock towers - 😳 - those are from WAY back when when they were designed for the Falcon and it was designed for inline sixes! (I had big block cars with them) Seriously though, you'll master it, like I said, I've seen determination in your eyes when you go after something. Your shifts are fine - the quickness will come. I hope you don't mind a story from an 'elder'... I went through clutches and flywheels, bent shift linkage, tossed the driveshaft a couple times (learned to use better parts) - Muncie M22/4spd - walked to a phone more than once, my test and tune track was a back road. Ended up pretty good (quite a bit better than average anyway) but I'm not some kind of gifted, I wanted it and wasn't giving up until I did it and knew it'd take practice - I see that in you, no doubt whatsoever you'll be damn good! All my best, from your self-appointed Motor City Uncle. 💛 Enjoy!!!!!!
Awesome you need a seat and cage but seat for sure is messing you up on shift ! Look every time you shift in to 2nd the seat moves 2-3 times and bounces!!
Tony and Tess thanks for the entertainment you two are a hoot it made my day. Tess your doing a great job practice makes perfect and what killer times for starting out I have no doubt that you will be in the mid 10s in no time keep up the awesome content and as always be safe 👍
Damn! That lil 347 kicks ass! Tony's right, a new clutch and it's gonna be damn fast. You know what kind of compression your running? It sounds like it's up there a lil bit! Always enjoy the vids, y'all take care!
Thanks for an other great video . Racing a stick car it,s now easy Bit with your number 1 helper (Tony) you well get a handle on it for sure . Thanks you two sill kids for great laughs . take care always be blessed
You hafta play to find out what it can take. Now that you have some stronger parts in there, you get smaller repairs and more seat time... hopefully! 🤔🙂
Don't feel bad, you may have to go through several clutches before it's at the maximum potential. Just think of clutches as the parts that get sacrificed to gods of speed!
Interested to see how it runs off the bottle when it's sorted out. The car seemed to like the radials and the 8" gearing a little better from the older track video.
I used to race a v8 mav-changing plugs was such a bitch!---We ended up pulling the front wheels&shocks,&using a hole saw to make "access holes", for plug changes!(Old Shelby trick!)-Glue a lil slitted vacuum line around the hole so the sharp edge dont get ya&never cuss the plugs again!!---Ya didn't really seam to hit that clutch that hard!-Be sure ya dont have a rear main seal leaking, oiling down ur clutch!!
Hey Tess! If you had hemi heads on that engine, changing plugs would be a breeze! See Unity Motorsports for Hammerhead small block hemi heads based on Boss 429 style. Just Sayin'😁
Put the mikes power glide backin it , the more hp you build the mor3 it will be burned , too much car for that clutch, or go all out and put a linko I. It , lol good job BigAl California
Oh yeah I burned up my clutch in mt charger way back when mcloud started utility puk clutches , and I would never lift my foot completely off the pedal, and Tess ,,, you might be unconsciously leaving a foot on the clutch a tiny bit , that will effect the run right , it’s all that Learning curve the other people are saying on here , take your foot completely up off the pedal, lololollll nice,,, BigAl California thank you for letting me watch the vlog and talk on the vlog ,,, praise Jesus Christ grace amen 🙏
Tess gets her launch down she'll be alright because that's where she is losing alot of ET and MPH is at the line plus the car spun too and I think that a 2 step/launch control under the clutch pedal would help both this car and the white car would benefit from one like most clutch car's that drag race do and have like Cleetus has in his car Leroy but really you guys should get in touch with the guy that runs @NXTSHIFT RUclips channel because he developed a trans brake type system for stick shift car's and once you dial it in you can get consistent launches and launch just like an automatic and Tess could definitely benefit from one and Tony too when he is in a cash days or in a no prep race
Was the oil getting in the clutch with the leak being at the back of the motor? Car is coming around can’t wait to see it with a new clutch 10.50’s are a coming. Don’t give up on the straight. I’m 50 and can’t out shift my dad but I love rolling through the gears. It will make you the best at racing. Any one can use a electric shifters and Auto trans. And I pride myself and feel like a pro when you run mid 10’s in a street car. Shock towers is what killed me on fords. Can’t we find a k-member for that thing? Come on Tony I know y’all have friends? Good luck y’all
The 2nd pass was much better even though it spun a little and I think it caused the car to buck like she didn't slip the clutch right but if she shaves off a whole second from the 1st pass to the 2nd pass she is heading in the right direction and she will definitely get better with more wheel time and it wouldn't hurt for her to make some test hits on the street and get better on a bare surface and it will help her get better on the track where it's prepped and even if she is in a no prep race because that surface will still be better than a bare street and she can learn to control and get her launches down pact she will definitely get down into the mid 11s atleast on motor but she needs nitrous atleast to give it some more get up and go
