Infact HD version is more sluggish and laggy. I owned both versions, HD is slower with the same content & apps. I returned the HD and bought another 4k version even though my 2nd tv is only 1080p.
My guess is that the hd version is relatively similar to the 4k model as its less cpu intensive to output in HD compared to 4k. The slower cpu and ram has less of an Impact at 1080p
I've got the HD one I like it..the only snag is storage. Had to buy an Anker with Power support to Add external storage. Hate all the ADs pasted over the menus as you do but can put a custom UI on it.
I bought one for my bedroom (it replaced the 4k firestick I had for a while), because I have an older TV, I have chromecast and google tv 4k in the living room, and I'm happy

I have the 4k version. I am an apple fan but got the 4k last year when on offer. I actually prefer the Chromecast over the Apple TV. Nothing fancy, just does what I want when I want to watch something. HD version might be good for my son as he only has an old tv in his room.
I just picked one up for £24.99 and thought I’d give it a try and to be honest I’m pretty impressed by it’s performance at that price’ i set all animations to 0.5 in dev options. I would say it’s probably about on par with the fire stick lite but this has half a gb of ram extra 1.5 the same as the regular fire stick 4k’ if I had to choose over a cheap chinese android box and this I’d most certainly go for this hands down especially at the price i got it for anyway. ✌️

High action RUclips content at 1080p gets destroyed with compression blocking. Does this effect show up on the HD version? I would assume so. On the Chromecast HD, Can you select a resolution higher than 1080p, for example 1440p resolution on a RUclips video?
No you can't obviously. That's the whole point of the HD version. It only goes up to 1080P as it says on the box. So they putslightly less in the hardware department CPU/RAM compared to the actual 4K one and that's your lower pricepoint. You can see it in his video where he shows the bitrate/resolution selector in youtube, the HD one only goes up to 1080P.
@@NL0Gwenster well just because the device only outputs maximum 1080p doesn't mean that it isn't capable of downloading the stream at higher res. For example, on a PC you can select to watch a video at 4k even though you are watching it on a 1080p monitor.
Planning to buy just the 4th gen HD. but have learned from some reviewers in my country that the UI of HD is a bit different than the 4k. so now I settled for 4k. you have to activate vpn something for HD so the UI would be the same with 4k.

This chrome cast is my first I have just gotten the HD model I had the firestick 4K. From 2018 it went all black. But. I don’t notice a lot of difference I have a 4K Hisense smart tv. But limited apps but for what I need it will do for the time being. The one big. Bonus is the added tv controls I do like. All in all it is a solid device Great review lad. I own both the 4k and the new HD. A problem I'm having with the HD is I'm unable to install anything from Unknown Sources. The install from unknown sources option appears until I install something from the play store and then the menu changes and the option disappears. Hoping this is a bug.

Downloader for example or one of the file server apps forgot the names but they have the code to install apps some RUclipsrs used them for a bit like troypoint

Got the original 4k and think it's pricey. If I had the choice over I'd get another Fire Stick. Better remote and buttons which doesn't slip out of your hand like a bar of bloody soap! Recommend people get the HD looking at this video.
I have a Chromecast with Google TV but I also experienced a Roku TV for the first time and now I don't like the Chromecast. I have settled on Roku TV for my household interface. Not necessarily a fan of the for you interface on the Chromecast.
I bought the first Chromecast 4K with Google TV. I stopped using it after a few months & moved to the Firestick. Ignoring the initial cock-ups at launch (Bluetooth) the main reason is the TV store is rubbish, no wide ranging content as per the Firestick & that is of particular importance to me & some of the apps don't support live TV e.g. ITV Hub on Google TV, On the Firestick it does. Not worth it compared to the Firestick.
I have 2 t95q android boxes and have as many as 20 kodi builds on one of the boxes and streaming flawlessly. I have a 3 mini keyboard and mouse backlit

I have the chrome cast with google tv on my 4k tv and the only thing I don't like about it is the remote. I have the Walmart $20.00 onn tv box on my 1080 tv and love it. And it also does 4k. I would not buy the chromecast hd. I do have Amazon fire tv cubes on both tv's which I much prefer.
@saimgamer6220 yep, however sometimes when you turn it on again you'll have to reconnect it to the wifi, just turn off the wifi settings then it just connects again. For its price though I think its worth it

Might pick one up as a back-up for my firestick 4k, as it's started stopping the odd RUclips video, to put up a page of films that cost money, even though I pay for premium, so shouldn't get any adverts.

The advantage is it's a lot cheaper if you want it in multiple rooms.

The problem with Chromecast HD is the lack of ram, this becomes a big problem when they try to update the o/s, not enough space.
But RAM is completely unrelated to storage space...
RAM has nothing to do with what you describe, plus HD needs less RAM than 4k, your Statement is completely invalid.
Actually the hd has 300 mbps of storage because it has 1.5 ram.

4K version has more RAM, so you could potentially run more demanding apps on it than the HD version, even if only displaying in HD.
I have a 1080p TV And I coming from the old 3rd Gen Chromecast So The Google Chromecast With Google TV HD is a no Brainer For me.
