I really like the boxes you made for the electronics and battery. I've been trying to think of something but that looks way better than any of my ideas!
I bobbed an 81 ct500 and a 82 650 Nighthawk a few years back. Sold the 500, kept the 650. Fun townie bike. You did a hell of a sweet job on yours. Love the sound.
Nice, I just picked one up for 500 and will start working on it little by little. As of now, the bike is totally rideable, but there is nothing better than to have the nice custom look. Great work dude!!
Thanks! I actually remade the electronics box. It was too small and I had to cram all the wiring in and it was a pain. The new one is about two inches bigger.
I just bought an 82 750 Nighthawk and I'm going to leave it stock mainly because it's been almost a year since I've been able to ride and I plan on doing things to it during the winter. Thanks for the Ideas.
Thanks Matt. I really didn't like the nighthawk either but I got it for only $400. I say on it for over 5 years before I started the bobber project. I love this bike more than I could have ever love that damn hideous nighthawk. The first thing I peeled off was that ugly Banana seat... Get it?... Peeled off? I crack me up!
Hey mattbrew. I'm not sure about the 89' model but this one wasn't too difficult. The good thing is, with the Internet,a good shop manual, and some decent tools(brain included), there's really not much you can't service on these older bikes. In my newer videos I'm rebuilding the engine myself with the help of the nighthawk forums and my shop manual. I say go for it.
I've got a 79' Cb650 that I am bobbering as well. First bike, first mechanical project, and zero previous experience. Been putting off rebuilding the engine but seeing this bike makes me want to move forward on mine! Great job. Send any tips my way man!
I got mine on eBay as well. They are 54mm but mine is a 650. I had the same problem with them running on top of each other a bit. They will fit but they angle a little to the outside. You have to make sure the clamps are tight or they'll slip off.
Thanks Justin! If you do you should join the Honda Bobbers Facebook page. It's a great place to post pics of your bobber, see others, and get technical advice.
Looks awesome man I just bought an 84 cb650 nighthawk myself and am going to Bob it if you get the chance send a message my way I need some serious advice on the electric work haha!
Yes, the front was lowered by loosening the fork tube bolts on the tree and moving it down the tubes about an inch. That's about all I needed to get the ride where I wanted. You could go as much as 4 inches I suppose but at some point your going to lose too much clearance.
Nice bike! If those screws on your electronics box rust then take them out and go to Ace Hardware and get stainless steel ones. I had some nice metal projects look like crap in a month cause I used regular screws that rusted quick.
Just starting a 85 nighthawk cafe project and I really like the look of the exhaust you have, are those the stock headers and what size pipe did you use for the tail end pieces ? Great looking bike ! !
Question....how did you fabricate the box for the battery and the electrical? Any site specific that you found the information on? Also, what type of jets did you get to increase the fuel to air ratio?
Any problems with valves since the exhaust is straight pipe? I bought 2 used 650SCs and only got 3,000 miles out o each one before I got valve clatter.
HI, I am starting a project on a Honda CB 650 nighthawk like yours, I bought some air pods but I was think about Rejet... Stocks are 115 so I ordered 122 main jet sand I am waiting to get them I was just curious about how you work on the carb ? Really nice work. Thanks !!
I just bought the exact same bike. 83 500cc honda shadow. While im derusting the tank and cleaning the carbs. How low can u go without hurting the driveshaft. And doing it again would u put a shorter suspention then making it a bobber
Bro I'm bumbed your bike went out. I have same year night hawk and modeled it similar to yours . I haven trouble with the wireing. I want to by pass the harness as simply as possible. Any suggestings
Did you have to change your top trees to change bars. I know on my 82 the bars slip in the top tree and are 2 piece. So wondering how you did it. Thank you
How did you know what jets to use??? Did u just guess I’m putting pod filters on a 92 750 and cutting the exhaust the same length as yours but I don’t what size jets to use just yet any help would be greatly appreciated thank you!
Hi Andrew, Like what you done with your Nighthawk. I'm going to do a little modification on my '84 Nighthawk, where did you get the seat and tires from? Anyway to email you directly to ask questions? Thanks
Andrew, any way you could share the specs for the two boxes(battery and electrical) or would you make another set and sell them to me i am in the process of making my 84 cb650 look very similar and running into the same issues with the wiring. thanks
I have 83 550 that Im working on, Im having a hard time getting pods that will fit. The issue im running into is that theyre too big and cannot all be connected due to them running on top of each other. I believe I have 48mm from ebay. Where do you get yours and what size? Thanks
I have Daytona bars on there. I'm actually parting the whole bike so if you need anything from the bike let me know. I've sold some parts already but still a lot of parts left.
hi man. I found a 1989 model bike in a junkyard. looks like it's never been laid down or anything. odo reads 18xxx but i don't know how to tell if it's rolled over. the guy says it runs just needs carb rebuilt. how hard are these bikes to work on? I am mechanically inclined but have never worked on a moto before. thanks.
Hey, I have the same bike as this, same filters and exhaust. Do you happen to remember what size jets you used in the carbs? If you can get back to me if really appreciate it thank you
Tom Shade Correction... The 83 nighthawk was one of the ugliest bikes ever made. I got it cheap and made something I was proud of. I have zero regrets. Fuck off troll.
None of these mods are gonna make the bike run or ride worse other than making it a hard tail which would just take getting used too. Nice bike. I'm getting ready to Bob out my '84.
Thank you! I appreciate it. No welding just wrapped? I'm in the process of doing a bobber with a cb650 as well and your bike sounds great! Thanks for the help.
+Alex Horst no welding. I just got some pipe extensions that were a few millimeters wider than the stock pipes so they would slide over then drilled a hole through both pipes and inserted a screw to hold them together.
yeah they arent right..damn you you be willing to cut off the block that connects to the solenoid? it will need a block with four cables goin onto it, i will need the plastic block and a snip of the four connecting cables
Hey man I'm getting ready to build the same bike here can you send me a private message I want to know how much would you charge me to build me the identical boxes battery in electronics box
DUDE! So sick. Thanks for the inspiration.
Wow Nice.... I have a 2001 NH 750. I was thinking about restoring it back to factory mint, but this is a waaaaaay better look and sound.
Nice,
I just picked one up for 500 and will start working on it little by little. As of now, the bike is totally rideable, but there is nothing better than to have the nice custom look. Great work dude!!
that is one cool bobber man I'm working on a 84 cb700s seeing what u came up with is very motivating...nice work!!!!
Thanks Sonny!
great job man, the bikes looks and sound nice, ride safe...
Looks good sounds great. Nice job.
Nice cb bro looks real good that's exactly what I intended mine to look like . Its almost there
Thanks Woodland! That's a great tip. It rains almost everyday in the summer here so I'm sure it's only a matter of time.
Thanks Jeep! I'm glad you like it. I hope you get yours on the road soon.
Thanks! I actually remade the electronics box. It was too small and I had to cram all the wiring in and it was a pain. The new one is about two inches bigger.
Great work, Mufflers look Nice!
looks good. im working.on.an 82 750sc. i wish i never bought this stinker, but it.looks.pretty damn good.
550 and 750 are my favorite
I just bought an 82 750 Nighthawk and I'm going to leave it stock mainly because it's been almost a year since I've been able to ride and I plan on doing things to it during the winter. Thanks for the Ideas.

That thing sounds SNOTTY AF 😍😍😍😍
Fuckin gorgeous, I have an 83 CB650 as well and I would LOVE to turn it into something like this. Excellent job.
love it!
nice man i have and 83 750 and Im debating on trying the bobber look. Props tho it looks sick
I've got a 79' Cb650 that I am bobbering as well. First bike, first mechanical project, and zero previous experience. Been putting off rebuilding the engine but seeing this bike makes me want to move forward on mine! Great job. Send any tips my way man!
My bike looks exactly like this
this is exactly the look i want to go for on my 82"....minus that square mirror lol
I got mine on eBay as well. They are 54mm but mine is a 650. I had the same problem with them running on top of each other a bit. They will fit but they angle a little to the outside. You have to make sure the clamps are tight or they'll slip off.
I used the stock sizes when I bought the tires. I forget what size now but its in the manual.
It does back backfire but not terribly. I am thinking of adding baffles to help get more back pressure for increased top end.
Thanks azufreazul! It's been a blast building it and its even blastier to ride. Is blastier a word? It should be.
Thanks Justin! If you do you should join the Honda Bobbers Facebook page. It's a great place to post pics of your bobber, see others, and get technical advice.
This bike is awesome, I would love to make my nighthawk a bobber.
6:12 for startup. :)
Looks awesome man I just bought an 84 cb650 nighthawk myself and am going to Bob it if you get the chance send a message my way I need some serious advice on the electric work haha!
That's what I'm doing now my home work I just bought a 83 night hawk 650 for a 150.00 bucks it's ruff but it will be nice
Curtis Mcquiston my boyfriend came home with a 450 for a $100😂

I got the seat off eBay pretty cheap. Like 45 bucks. It was ok. I sold it and bought a biltwell for around 120. It's bigger and nicer.
What kind of jetting and carb adjusting did you do to allow for the freer breathing air filters and pipes?
Just starting a 85 nighthawk cafe project and I really like the look of the exhaust you have, are those the stock headers and what size pipe did you use for the tail end pieces ? Great looking bike ! !
Great video.
Where did you buy the parts for your bike?
Yep, that's the factory tank.
Question....how did you fabricate the box for the battery and the electrical? Any site specific that you found the information on? Also, what type of jets did you get to increase the fuel to air ratio?

I know this is old but do you remember what you used for jets and the pod filter size?
How much did you lower the front and rear? And how did you lower it? Thanks
Hey man do you know what jet size you used with the pod filters?
hello there, did you made gas tank or you use from some other bike? tnx
Bro I'm bumbed your bike went out. I have same year night hawk and modeled it similar to yours . I haven trouble with the wireing. I want to by pass the harness as simply as possible. Any suggestings

Nice build, what speedo/tach is that?
Hi Andrew, Like what you done with your Nighthawk. I'm going to do a little modification on my '84 Nighthawk, where did you get the seat and tires from? Anyway to email you directly to ask questions? Thanks
One last one, what about the rear fender? im getting confused on what size to get!
Andrew, any way you could share the specs for the two boxes(battery and electrical) or would you make another set and sell them to me i am in the process of making my 84 cb650 look very similar and running into the same issues with the wiring. thanks
Thought you were gonna beep that horn? Bike looks awesome though.
6:11
Did you use the original wiring harness?
So you didn’t have to retune the carbs after putting on the air filters
what kind of rear fender is that?
Andrew Platt please send me any advice I have an 82 cb750 nighthawk that I'm starting to bobber
I have 83 550 that Im working on, Im having a hard time getting pods that will fit. The issue im running into is that theyre too big and cannot all be connected due to them running on top of each other.
I believe I have 48mm from ebay. Where do you get yours and what size?
Thanks
Does it back fire a lot since you cut off the exhaust
What was the jet kit you used?
Did it run like shit without rejetting the carbs with the exhaust the way it is?
What kind of blinkers are on front?
what bar do you have on it buddy? i just got one of these but i wanna change the bar
I have Daytona bars on there. I'm actually parting the whole bike so if you need anything from the bike let me know. I've sold some parts already but still a lot of parts left.

Hwy buddy if your still around, can i ask you your jets yoy used for pods?
Where did you get the seat from?
What size rear tire did you put on the bike?
Hey, I have the same bike as this, same filters and exhaust. Do you happen to remember what size jets you used in the carbs? If you can get back to me if really appreciate it thank you
They have a kit for this specific bike on the website carbjetkits dot com.
How much did you put into this bike, if you dont mind me asking
I paid $400 for the bike. About $600 in parts and paint/body materials and another 200 to get it titled, registered, and the road.
is that the factory tank?
the cb650 nighthawk is a great handling and running bike, all these noob mods are a death trap..
YOU DIDNT HAVE TO LOWER THE FRONT TO MATCH THE BACK?
You did okay but its only for you now. The value isnt increased. Nice bike though..
for sale??
This is what I was shooting for with my '85 but sash*les stole it
What pipes are those?
Stock pipes cut a few inches past the second bend then 12" extensions added then wrapped in black heat wrap.
+Andrew Platt awesome! thanks buddy, I will definitely be doing that. I appreciate your time and info
+Alex Horst no problem, glad to help.
i need fork stantions, but mine is an 82"
I'm not sure if they're compatible
yeah they arent right..damn
you you be willing to cut off the block that connects to the solenoid? it will need a block with four cables goin onto it, i will need the plastic block and a snip of the four connecting cables
I'm not sure I know what you're talking about. Do you mean the ignition coils?
Hey man I'm getting ready to build the same bike here can you send me a private message I want to know how much would you charge me to build me the identical boxes battery in electronics box
Did it run like shit without rejetting the carbs with the exhaust the way it is?
