I just tore down a 1980 cb650 and this is an awesome inspiration man...i like how you did the rear end i have looked at like probably 50 different 650 bobbers and this one is whats up.
I chopped the frame off at the shock mounts, then welded in a bar from the cut frame down to the swing arm. The battery is a AGM type so it can be mounted sideways. I would recommend either a AGM or Lithium type battery for a hard-tailed bike. The standard liquid-filled batteries don't like the bouncing. This bike changed a little since the video, I should post a new vid. Also building up a 83 shaft drive model which I will post a vid of in a few weeks.
I am planning on chopping up and modding my 79' cb650 this year. would you be able to give me a little advice how the changes you made and any tuning changes you had to do?? I want to convert to a hard tail (and as I dont see a kit anywhere, your method seems perfect!), probably run pod filters, move the battery, and re wire so the starter switch etc is by the seat similar to yours. Any feedback is appreciated man. I can also give you my email if thats easier. Killer bike, thanks for the inspiration.
hi cool bike .i am kind of doing the same thing to 1980 cb650c i was wanting to know how you did the exhaust.did you just cut your pipes.does the engine over heat.did you do any thing to the carbs.thank you.i hope you can help me i cant find any info on this thank you.rich

What throttle are you using, r1 ?
How did you mount the battery to the swingarm? Does that deteriorate the lifespan?
