Looking good. I am building the same bike for my brother but went with the Alien tank from TCBROS and the universal hard tail kit from them as well. Had the tank powder coated black along with the rims.

The speedo was super easy to install. What wasn't so easy was pulling all the wires out of the stock speedo/instrument cluster and figuring out what they were, where they went, and if I needed them. As far as the jetkit, I highly recommend you buy it from carbjetkits online. I paid around $50 for the whole kit and it runs perfect. Well, almost perfect. I think I still need to limit some of the air coming into in thru the pods.

Congrats its looking awesome. i myself am rebuilding a 10 year sitting 84 750 nighthawk. And actually yesterday was its first start and i am considering to make it into a bobber or simply a one seat. keep it sport but eliminate the cluster with somthing like you have and replacing the front with a 7" headlight. Update on this to see how you are going.

Thanks! I plan on starting mine for the first time in at least 3 years next week. I still have to do some rewiring, jet and pod the carbs, finish the exhaust, and get new oil and plugs. I may have to do some tuning on the carbs but otherwise it should fire right up, I hope... I got my seat and headlight. They are both perfect but I had to replace the 3" springs with 2"scissor springs which are going to look awesome and get new brackets for the headlight that bolt to the forks because the stock

I had a friend make them out of stainless steel. I drew up a schematic of what I wanted and he made it happen.

I lowered the bike with the struts I had made. They are about 10" long which lowered the rear end about 4". The front you can lower some but sliding the fork tubes up the top tree. The engine was painted with high temp engine paint that can be found at any automotive store in various colors.

The rear fender is plastic. I fabricated it from the existing rear fender that was up under the rear fairing/seat. It's usually hidden but I cut off all the excess length, sanded, and painted it.

You mention that you pulled and tossed the air box and associated emissions crap and went the pod filter route. Did you rejet? What size jets? What brand and size pod filters?

Yeah thats kind of what im going for too but right know on the rewiring stage. i just am a little skeptical about tearing into the wires and the separation of them. I plan on just having the cables for the ignition and ecu and lights. only the necessary ones. how are you going to hack into that? if you could give me a hand on that i just cant seem to find a wiring diagrahm anywhere. thanks keep me posted, once im dn ill show my bobber. its actually a gift for my father on his birthday this July.

I have a 86 nighthawk 450 I'm about to bob, where did you find the rear struts? That's really the only issue I have at the moment.

Let me tell you, this is one of the best looking mods I've seen on the Nighthawk. Except for mines of course...hahaha! Check them out at my channel. Keep up the good work, and I'm looking forward to see it finished.

If you google motorcycle wiring diagram you will get plenty of easy examples. I like and will probably use the ones from cycles.evanfell.com. They are pretty simple but I don't think he runs turn signals with his diagram. You can wire them in easily though. It will still be a challenge but if you have a brain and patience you shod be able to accomplish a desired result.
