I was going to buy a 2010 Hyundai i30 second hand a few days back. Owner had got the clutch and gearbox replaced. Noticed when I sat into that the clutch felt a bit weird but obviously not a mechanic so I thought it was fine. Took it for a test drive and the clutch got stuck and wouldn't let me put the car in gear. Took me a minute with the hazard lights on, stalled in the middle of the road to realize the clutch was stuck. Pumped it and it worked fine and got into gear. This video has been very informative! Great work, might skip on buying this model
Sounds like the splines on the clutch some have bent or pressure plate that gearbox has never been off typical garage saying they took it off etc hope you get the car sorted 👍
Hey, I had the same issue I changed everything it was expensive but the only way to get rid of all these issues cost me £800 in a end.. not sure if it was worth it. Good luck mate
So what was the outcome? My wide's i30 2010 is doing something similar, but when driving the clutch went entirely free with no pressure at all, and for some weird reason it cut out the electronics like as if the battery was disconnected. Is that a safety feature? Anyway, after I turned the engine off, the clutch started "working" again and I was able to engage the clutch to drive home. Any ideas there? It's happened twice now, so there must be a leak somewhere?
@@Roverturbo Also the same except the bottom of the travel with the pedal as this is still soft travel to bottom of pedal travel with my neices H i30 blue estate version, I replaced damper with plug bled and no difference so need to investigate further. What would be good with your videos is the mileage aspect as unless riding clutch in cars since about 2000 these items usually are lifetime (Rear brakes (Shoes anyway) clutches etc) My mark 3 escort estate 1698,500 miles before selling presently on my Dacia duster 165,000 miles never replaced clutches.
Interesting that it was claimed the clutch had been changed! But no evidence of gearbox being removed! Look forward to further investigation there then!

Quite often it's the slave cylinder, they warp causing a stiff action....similar to small FIATs.
Bent clutch fork not unheard too. 😎

Can you please tell me where I can contact you
Do european models have damper i cant find it
On the car? Might have been removed or not on all models.
Wait i didnt get it, so in the end u said its the damper n then u say you gonna change the cluth, what if u change only the damper?
I say at the beginning of part 1, it could be the damper. But it didn’t have one. But as part 2 shows, it was the clutch all along.
