This is like the opening monologue of a play, almost Shakesperian. When the history books are written and the documentaries compiled, this deserves to be one of the most important opening promos in AEW's history.
Watching this back a year later, this is still an incredibly powerful opener, one I believe will be remembered in the history books. This was one of the first moments that showed the true heart and spirit of the people that worked in this organization. They pushed forward in a time of extreme uncertainty, when they didn't know if their telecast would still exist in a matter of days, and still went out of their way to give us, not only a little bit of a distraction from the world and it's problems, but gave us hope for the future. Thanks to everyone backstage. You made this goddamned pandemic not quite as terrible. And for that, I wish you all the best.

After today’s episode wwe is gonna bite AEW’s idea and prolly do this with their next shows. Cuz them showing ppv matches wasting time was the lamest shit ever. Like Vince dude got a big ass roster and you couldn’t come up with something as small as that. Just kinda shows he doesn’t respect the roster himself.

All anyone with even a little intelligence needs to do is look into the history of viral outbreaks and compare the seriousness of the virus and the numbers of infected and the death totals, along with the reactions and preventative measures taken by people and then compare them to now. It will become very clear that shit isn't adding up here, which will cause you to do more digging and with every passing hour you'll be able to relax that much more. Watched this with my girlfriend at the time on my couch. We usually scream like crazy for Dynamite but we sat in silence for the whole 7 minutes. It was chilling
Cody, Kenny Omega and Matt Jackson's opening promo was so golden I almost forgot there was no audience in attendance. I was just imaging that everyone was being quiet as The Elite was addressing what is going on around the world. This was so well done, Dynamite was a great show from start to finish, thank you AEW for existing.
One year on and this video still holds up. At a time of uncertainty and of panic, these people came together and did their best to entertain all of us watching from home. The world seemed like it was falling apart, some say that it still is but for this night and for every Wednesday night after, they helped relieve ourselves of our worries. I have my own problems, just like every other person in this world, and I am thankful that I have this brief but wonderful moment of distraction that makes me proud to say that I am a wrestling fan. Thank you Cody, thank you to The Elite, thank you Tony Khan and thank you AEW.
Looking back, the Jacksonville era of AEW is what made me a forever fan. I watched on and off in 2019 but I now I can't remember the last time I missed a Wednesday night.
This show was fantastic. Compared to the other ones I’ve seen this week without a crowd t had energy and was like I was watching an actually TV show instead of a cookie cutter time filler.
AEW, you have my heart. I’m a 30 year old man who grew up with Monday Night Wars, Attitude Era! And you guys have brought a sense of authenticity to wrestling that has been missing since those times. I’m back watching wrestling with my oldest son who is 8. Thank you. Don’t feel like you have to compete against the other brand.....there’s no competition, AEW is king amongst real wrestling fans.
Never been a Cody fan, haven't kept up with wrestling in a long time let alone wstched AEW but godamn that intro was emotional. Really felt that, will be watching from now for sure.
Watching WWE this past week it looked awkward af even with Stone Cold, somehow Cody’s promo made me forget there was even a crowd. The guy has a certain aura about him that makes you listen, imagine this guy was stardust a few years ago.
ultragarrison never said it wasn’t great just without the crowd in WWE they haven’t done a good job in making it look less awkward, where as Cody and AEW have.
Not gonna lie, it felt a bit odd at first but the more it went on, the more I was into it. It was fun to see ( and hear ) all the wrestlers at ring side. There definitely was a Lucha Underground type of feel to it. Overall, although I did miss the always awesome AEW crowd, it was an interesting experience... BUT MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL I want to thank AEW for not giving up on Dynamite because I honestly find it really hard to cope with the almost total absence of sports at the moment. In times like these we usually would find solace in sports, we watch sports to get all those accumulated worries out of our system and right now we have practically nothing. Pro Wrestling decided to take a stand and I'm really glad they did.

I haven't watched wrestling for years. WWE is the reason for that. Even with an empty arena, AEW captures my attention again. AEW is the reason I watch again and i thank you.
I just KNEW they were going to hold back and save the good stuff for when they were back with the crowds... Prepare your ass for this episode, all the bombs are dropped. I could hear the crowd pop huge even without them there.

AEW helped me get my love for wrestling back, I stopped watching WWE after the first ever Elimination Chamber match, and tbh I never missed it after all it was done, but that AEW is here I was hooked, I watched Dynamite every week, never missed a PPV and went to Full Gear and loved every moment I have seen! Man my birthday was on March 3rd so my brother in law bought 2nd row tickets for dynamite on the 13th of May but with all that’s happening I’m not sure that’s gonna happen it would’ve been my first wrestling event and on TV but I hope everything gets better by then even if I don’t get to go to dynamite I just want the world to get better and be able to go to school or work or go outside into large groups without a worry Blessings to you all🙏🏻

Absolutely compelling and riveting dramatization in this historic opening segment! The seamless weaving together of the introduction of the show, the explanation of circumstances in the world surrounding, and the unraveling of this saga truly was a mark of brilliance! The utilization of factions in Elite is definitely a component of professional wrestling which has been missing in other companies.
WWE killed my love of professional wrestling and these men and this company, all of them. Every wrestler, referee, announcer... All made me remember why I loved wrestling. Thank you

Aew was the best wrestling show of the week I loved how they got the wrestlers who were not fighting to stand in as the crowd unlike wwe which had noooo atmosphere just dead shows n next to no matches lol

Absolutely loved the camera shot from 6:13. Beautifully framed with the Elite in the ring bathed in light with Hangman on the outside in darkness with the mist swirling around him. Just fantastic cinematography
When the pyro came in I got a burst of energy. The shot where they shoot above the three of them in the ring alone, was really dramatic. It felt like a play during this open but it was beautiful. Great show, thank you for providing an escape from what’s going on in the world today.

Was supposed to be at the Newark show for the original planned Blood and Guts but was luckily there for their New Jersey debut headlined by Adam Cole vs Frankie Kazarian. It really felt scary at 1st this starting but thru the pandemic they gave us almost decades worth of memories it seemed. Sting's return to wrestling, Brodie Lee and his legacy of the Dark Order, Moxley's title reign, Kingston's debut, NWA & Impact Partnership, Kenta debuting to confirm the NJPW partnership, Bucks vs FTR, the Deadly Draw tournament, F***ING Shaq, return of Christian Cage and SO MUCH MORE It did make a life a bit easier having something to escape the harsh reality for a spell. Prayers to all lost in the pandemic
Cody did this the right way he addressed the situation and reassured everyone that aew is one big family fans talent everyone will get through this together well done.
Don’t usually comment but there was something very special and intimate about the no crowd, no entrance music, very open and honest almost. Brilliant show. AEW really is the Elite wrestling promo, loved WWE in the attitude era. Nothing has matched it. AEW has started something new for me. Out of wrestling for years and now can’t miss an episode. Cody's handling of this week's introduction was legitimate and heartfelt. He could have been in front of 50k people, and the impact would have been just as strong. He managed to deliver in the middle of a world-wide emergency and gave the fans a touch of escape. Wherever he is, Dusty Rhodes would be proud.
An amazing show, even if there wasn't a live audience, it was just amusing watching the wrestlers in the front row, taunting, and commenting on what was going on in the ring!! Especially MJF, Colt Cobana slapping the face of Kip Sabian, the 'audience'! shouting at the referee when that low blow happened!! And of course Brodie Lee and Mat Hardy's big reveals!! Brilliant!!

This was one of the most meaningful opens to a pro wrestling program I have ever seen, my respect level just shot sky high for the elite
It's too true tho with all this madness going on with the Coronavirus around the world, things are changing to the point where we are loosing our old way of life, and yes Kenny we still do need entertainment pro wrestling is the only thing that has been getting me through

Because anyone who has truly paid attention to all of this from the start and have the ability to deflect the doom and gloom panic we're all apparently supposed to be completely wrapped up with are all coming to the same conclusion. Look, I'm the furthest thing from a conspiracy theorist and i've had many battles with those kinds of people over the years, but this COVID19 shit is a far departure from what we're all being told it really is. All anyone with even a little intelligence needs to do is look into the history of viral outbreaks and compare the seriousness of the virus and the numbers of infected and the death totals, along with the reactions and preventative measures taken by people and then compare them to now. It will become very clear that shit isn't adding up here, which will cause you to do more digging and with every passing hour you'll be able to relax that much more. The virus isn't the problem, the panic and over-reaction from the people however has become much more of a problem than it ever needed to be.
It's been one year since this episode happened and the first time we see Brodie Lee in AEW, this is one of the most important episodes in AEW that we won't forget

Alot of it had to do with how they set up the ring right next to he stage. Made it feel like opera rather than a empty void.
i think what made a BIG difference was having wrestlers replace the crowd, it still gives that energy of the crowd so please keep doing that

Cody, Kenny Omega and Matt Jackson's opening promo was so golden I almost forgot there was no audience in attendance. I was just imaging that everyone was being quiet as The Elite was addressing what is going on around the world. This was so well done, Dynamite was a great show from start to finish, thank you AEW for existing.
One year on and this video still holds up. At a time of uncertainty and of panic, these people came together and did their best to entertain all of us watching from home. The world seemed like it was falling apart, some say that it still is but for this night and for every Wednesday night after, they helped relieve ourselves of our worries.
I have my own problems, just like every other person in this world, and I am thankful that I have this brief but wonderful moment of distraction that makes me proud to say that I am a wrestling fan.
Thank you Cody, thank you to The Elite, thank you Tony Khan and thank you AEW.
AEW did a brilliant job with the circumstances. The show was still highly entertaining. Love this young company.
Looking back, the Jacksonville era of AEW is what made me a forever fan. I watched on and off in 2019 but I now I can't remember the last time I missed a Wednesday night.
This show was fantastic. Compared to the other ones I’ve seen this week without a crowd t had energy and was like I was watching an actually TV show instead of a cookie cutter time filler.
AEW, you have my heart. I’m a 30 year old man who grew up with Monday Night Wars, Attitude Era! And you guys have brought a sense of authenticity to wrestling that has been missing since those times.
I’m back watching wrestling with my oldest son who is 8. Thank you. Don’t feel like you have to compete against the other brand.....there’s no competition, AEW is king amongst real wrestling fans.
The opening reminded me of when Vince opened up an episode of RAW in 2007 after Benoit's death

Watching WWE this past week it looked awkward af even with Stone Cold, somehow Cody’s promo made me forget there was even a crowd. The guy has a certain aura about him that makes you listen, imagine this guy was stardust a few years ago.

Not gonna lie, it felt a bit odd at first but the more it went on, the more I was into it. It was fun to see ( and hear ) all the wrestlers at ring side. There definitely was a Lucha Underground type of feel to it. Overall, although I did miss the always awesome AEW crowd, it was an interesting experience... BUT MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL I want to thank AEW for not giving up on Dynamite because I honestly find it really hard to cope with the almost total absence of sports at the moment. In times like these we usually would find solace in sports, we watch sports to get all those accumulated worries out of our system and right now we have practically nothing. Pro Wrestling decided to take a stand and I'm really glad they did.
This was my first time watching a whole DYNAMITE show, and boy did it beat expectations! AMAZING JOB!
The way WWE does it makes it seem awkward and forced but AEW addresses it and flows with it.

AEW helped me get my love for wrestling back, I stopped watching WWE after the first ever Elimination Chamber match, and tbh I never missed it after all it was done, but that AEW is here I was hooked, I watched Dynamite every week, never missed a PPV and went to Full Gear and loved every moment I have seen! This opening reminds me of the opening of Chris Benoit special when they we’re celebrating his life after his death. Their were no one there in the audience.
That was in Corpus Christi. I was in line waiting to go in till they told us the show was cancelled and we would be given refunds.
Man my birthday was on March 3rd so my brother in law bought 2nd row tickets for dynamite on the 13th of May but with all that’s happening I’m not sure that’s gonna happen it would’ve been my first wrestling event and on TV but I hope everything gets better by then even if I don’t get to go to dynamite I just want the world to get better and be able to go to school or work or go outside into large groups without a worry Blessings to you all🙏🏻

Absolutely compelling and riveting dramatization in this historic opening segment! The seamless weaving together of the introduction of the show, the explanation of circumstances in the world surrounding, and the unraveling of this saga truly was a mark of brilliance! The utilization of factions in Elite is definitely a component of professional wrestling which has been missing in other companies.
This show was amazing and the promo by Cody was incredible. Loved MJF and Shaun Spears betting on the matches too.
Stuff like this, and thier continued dedication to please the fans is why AEW will eventually become #1

Aew was the best wrestling show of the week I loved how they got the wrestlers who were not fighting to stand in as the crowd unlike wwe which had noooo atmosphere just dead shows n next to no matches lol

Absolutely loved the camera shot from 6:13. Beautifully framed with the Elite in the ring bathed in light with Hangman on the outside in darkness with the mist swirling around him. Just fantastic cinematography

When the pyro came in I got a burst of energy. The shot where they shoot above the three of them in the ring alone, was really dramatic. It felt like a play during this open but it was beautiful. Great show, thank you for providing an escape from what’s going on in the world today.

Was supposed to be at the Newark show for the original planned Blood and Guts but was luckily there for their New Jersey debut headlined by Adam Cole vs Frankie Kazarian. It really felt scary at 1st this starting but thru the pandemic they gave us almost decades worth of memories it seemed. Sting's return to wrestling, Brodie Lee and his legacy of the Dark Order, Moxley's title reign, Kingston's debut, NWA & Impact Partnership, Kenta debuting to confirm the NJPW partnership, Bucks vs FTR, the Deadly Draw tournament, F***ING Shaq, return of Christian Cage and SO MUCH MORE
It did make a life a bit easier having something to escape the harsh reality for a spell.

Cody did this the right way he addressed the situation and reassured everyone that aew is one big family fans talent everyone will get through this together well done.

Don’t usually comment but there was something very special and intimate about the no crowd, no entrance music, very open and honest almost. Brilliant show. AEW really is the Elite wrestling promo, loved WWE in the attitude era. Nothing has matched it. AEW has started something new for me. Out of wrestling for years and now can’t miss an episode. Cody's handling of this week's introduction was legitimate and heartfelt. He could have been in front of 50k people, and the impact would have been just as strong. He managed to deliver in the middle of a world-wide emergency and gave the fans a touch of escape. Wherever he is, Dusty Rhodes would be proud.
An amazing show, even if there wasn't a live audience, it was just amusing watching the wrestlers in the front row, taunting, and commenting on what was going on in the ring!!
Especially MJF, Colt Cobana slapping the face of Kip Sabian, the 'audience'! shouting at the referee when that low blow happened!! And of course Brodie Lee and Mat Hardy's big reveals!! Brilliant!!
