This did not feel like 18 minutes of talking. There is a massive difference in starting a show with a 20 minute segment to set up the main event (on every show) and this absolute masterpiece. This was brilliant.
& it didn't even set up the main event. It simply accelerated the storyline BIG TIME. Flawless execution. TK is showing that a fan of the business who is and has been VERY tuned in to every aspect for a long time, can be successful with creative direction. It also does wonders how a non scripted product presents vs a heavily scripted product. Top 3 if not top promo segment in history.
It's amazing how natural and enjoyable a 20-minute segment can be if it's not scripted by people who have no idea what wrestlers should say to one another.
I feel like in years to come this will be iconic but at the same time will pale in comparison to the big promos MJF cuts in the future in huge feuds. I just hope this rivalry doesn't stop after this feud but keeps simmering for years under the surface and then MJF cements his place as a legend by retiring his predecessor, CM Punk, in a few years time, while winning the world championship in a career vs title match. They need to show this in every independent wrestling training school. THIS is how to captivate an audience and get them to buy in to a match just using your words. No violence, just words, and these two pulled it off like a Masterclass.
The indies aren't the problem when it comes to mic skills. It's corporate sports entertainment entities (well, one entity) that tells its wrestlers what to say. Where do you think both Punk and MJF learned to talk? The INDIES!
Agreed training schools need too take promo ability way more seriously that’s why wrestlers can’t reach that next level a lot of times. Punk and MJF showed exactly how words alone can reel in an audience.

The Four Pillars/Britt Baker line is utterly brilliant, tearing apart the ego of MJF, forcing him to rethink everything, and second guess himself, as a character. I expected something good from these two, I didn't expect to see something that went from 0-100 immediately, and never took it's foot off the pedal for 20 minutes. My word.

I'm thinking we get another promo battle in Long Island coming up, so this one is in MJF's hometown.
The INDIES!
