    When you have a promo/segment that's 15 minutes long without a physical altercation but pure tension, suspense, and great storytelling... You are delivering the best professional wrestling has to offer. Beautifully done by both MJF and William Regal. MJF is a generational talent.

    MJF was thoroughly great at this but when Regal said “You’ve had it easy, sunshine” it stopped MJF’s momentum and had the crowd in his side again. That was a perfectly delivered line. It gave me chills

    • @RedShadowOfSaturn
      @RedShadowOfSaturn 3 years ago +53

      It sorta did, you're right...but that's part of the reason it was a great segment. It had layers, it told a story (albeit long), and it had the fans changing their views. It wasn't so much a promo "battle," like we knew MJF and Punk would be...like, we all anticipated that would be a series of salvos back and forth, and that's what we got. This was much deeper, more emotional, more serious, and it took us on a journey. It was exceptional.

      Thats the one thing i love about MJF, dude mixes "real" life scenarios with the taptent of wrestling Kayfabe, he's a amazing storyteller, and those are super rare to find, like he isn't the best technical wrestler but that's a trait that you can learn and he gets better and better each day. His promos his arcs is what makes you want to see more of him

      @ King Lusion your a liar.

    • @CA_I
      @CA_I 3 years ago

      @DapsAllAround the reason why is because he is what he would describe as a 'mark', that's not meant negatively, as he really believes in pro-wrestling as an actual sport. Which in these days is quite different from other people, as he focuses on story-telling and selling a match, rather than needing a match to sell a story.

    The layers in this promo are next level. Max wins the crowd over with his emotion and passion. They were booing Regal when he started to speak. Regal unfazed, wins the crowd back by acknowledging the greatness he saw in him while pointing out the shortcuts he has taken. Brilliant stuff.

      Regal has some of the better promos in the game. Underrated. Regal on HHH, Regal on Cesaro, Regal on Dean Ambrose. Legendary stuff. I still remember the feud he had with the then Ambrose when he described the man as someone that: if I took a man into the parking lot and lit him on fire, everyone would flee but Dean Ambrose would come warm his hands by the flames. I mean, what a freakin' line. What a way to put a guy over. Geez.

    MJF tells a story of hardship through rejection and heartbreak, Regal tells a story of hardship through pain and experience. What a promo segment I got goosebumps from Regal talking about trying to earn his way into professional wrestling in a time where you had to fight professional grown men at a young age.

    This was MJFs modern day "Hard Times". Insanely relatable in regards to pushing for you dreams even when the man is throwing you aside. But he still did something unique at the same time. Really can't say anything even remotely negative about this.

      This was the best MJF promo I’ve ever heard. This is so believable cause it’s based on real life events. Like last week, we are getting more layers of MJF and what made him how he is today. His “bad guy story” is unfolding between our eyes and we are understanding why he is the way he is.

    • @rooky3526
      @rooky3526 3 years ago +29

      @kibrisgazetesi6586 MJF's dynamic to CM Punk was that of a fan to his hero/idol who he hates due to some narrative where Punk turned his back on him. With Regal, it's that of a youg aspiring wrestler to a well respected senior/legend, seeking for his approval.

  • @JonOrtolaza

    This is one of if not among my favorite segments AEW has ever given us. It made me believe in MJF and his rise to stardom. He's so natural in his delivery and his character work is some of the best in all of wrestling right now.

    • @CodeBleu724
      @CodeBleu724 3 years ago +9

      It's about time that MJF's story is being told. When AEW started, MJF was an asshole just to be an asshole. AEW needed heels and faces in 2019...MJF is a Goddamn superstar and he's one of the only ones so far that AEW has produced...and that makes CM Punk jealous.... He wanted to step in to a new company and be the top guy...7 years too late.

    • @Doc_Jello
      @Doc_Jello 3 years ago +11

      @CodeBleu724 Punk elevated MJF, because of Punk, MJF was apart of the most anticipated AEW match ever. Because of Punk, MJF was one half of the best feud in AEW history. MJF needed that Punk feud to become the star he is now, it brought more eyes on him than ever before. MJF has always had the talent but Punk gave him the platform to showcase it. Plus Punk would've dropped the title to MJF

      I don’t like to prebook matches but at the end of the day it is a scripted show. Imagine the BCC slowly falls apart leading up to full gear and Regal hands Mjf the brass knuckles for him to get the win. This would be 7 years in the making. The person who drove MJF to get to where he is mentally and physically by pushing him to his full potential and finally MJF becomes the ultimate Villian and the ultimate protege of sir Regal. I feel like tony is gonna do this so I’m sry for the spoiler but that would be the perfect ending. Remember the quote- “ the greatest thing the devil ever pulled was convincing you he did not exist”. False sense of security for Jon Moxley thinking it would be a clean match. This would be perfect cause we don’t want moxley to loose clean to mjf so it’s perfect and realistically makes so much sense.

    MJF is doing something very special with the layers to his character that we haven’t seen in a long time, if not ever. He’s continually peeling back the layers to his heel character & providing us with the details as to WHY he is the way he is, thus creating this relatable baby face anti-hero character. He’s organically becoming a face while STAYING heel. This guy hasn’t had a bad moment since he’s debuted. He’s like the Patrick Mahomes of pro wrestling

    • @flogrownb7429

    MJF and William Regal's segment tonight is something that should be shown in promo class at wrestling schools. It was so good. MJF is so good already at the age of 26. He brings old school to new school and mixes both of them so well.

      @WhiteMochato what? I rly dislike a lot of what aew does. Like have random matches every week and not having long term storylines. It’s very rare to get a storyline that is believable and that’s why we love mjf. If mjf was booked like shit, we would also call it out.

Little did I realize how underrated these news channels were making this. This wasn't just epic, this was perfection at its finest. The crowd in two masters hands hanging onto each word. Facial expressions, mannerisms, all on point. By the end of this I had tears in my eyes from sheer joy of seeing a promo like this in 2022. GOD this was amazing work. MJF cuts this ON FIRE promo, sets up Regal is the completely irredeemable villain for what he did to MJF. Nothing he could possibly say would excuse the way he shot down that 19 year old.
    Then regal takes a freaking MINUTE, explaining what HE went through learning the business at SIXteen, and that if all MJF needed to get the same benefit was one email from Regal than he's had it easy. BOOM. Table is flipped. Absolute legends.

    God, just look at Regal's expressions during MJF's part of the promo. You can practically hear him already firing back with every glance as if he were saying "That's right, and I would do it again! Because I was right to do it, wasn't I?"

    What a promo segment. I am blown away by both of these guys, and the character work is out of this world. Coherent, logical reasoning for each sides views, which then puts them at odds. And backed up, in this case, with non-violence, just glorious!

    Every comment is giving MJF love, let’s give some love to William for that response

    This made me smile. MJF poured his heart out in that promo and Regal being the genius he is, matched MJFs energy and made this a promo to remember. Good shit

    These two are at different stages of their life, but yet they cut a promo that will be for ever remembered. Probably the best promo of their careers

    Add this to the catalogue of insanely good promos from MJF. Damn, he ain't wrong on saying he's a generational talent, because he is! And to think he's 26 right now, and already ticking off all of the boxes needed to be a top star in professional wrestling.

    MJF is, by a huge margin, the greatest wrestler of his generation. He has it all. He is a good wrestler, fantastic on the mic, has a good look, tons of charisma and a fascinating character that makes you want to watch every week, just for the chance to see him perform.

      It's not even close. like most of my top 10 promos of all-time are MJF. This is a god tier bit of theater, like you feel for MJF, then you realize Regal is older and wiser, and MJF pussies out of getting a free shot because he knows Regal is right. This is Chef's Kiss level stuff, and TBH worth the price of Tony's dad's money on AEW on its own.

    This kind of intense promos with intensity and emotions in it is what makes AEW more "real" than others wrestling shows. You genuinely feel for them, and in some ways also kinda related to them and learn something from watching it. This is why we get into pro wrestling and not another sport, it's the storytelling

    • @hamzanazeer6412
      @hamzanazeer6412 3 years ago +1

      "real". Maybe that's why they have a dozen botches each week

      @hamzanazeer6412 There's a hater born every minute, stand in line to get your bib and pacifier. AEW isn't perfect, they got issues just like every other promotion, but at least they try to put on good shows and don't try to insult the fans intelligence.

      @A2YU09 aew is pure garbage. Averaged a weak pathetic 700k viewers this week and rampage 400k 💀💀💀 it’s pretty sad that raw competes head on with Monday night football and yet they still average more viewers than dynamite and rampage COMBINED 🤡🤡🤡 cry about it mark cry

      @SmoothLion78 Being good in the ring doesn't only mean doing spot fests bro. There's something called storytelling and that's what makes you a great wrestler. There are rarely wrestlers hailed by everyone who were absolute trash in the mic and storytelling but awesome in the ring alone. But there are tons of wrestlers who further went to become legends in this business who were decent in the ring but top notch when it came to storytelling and absolutely loved pro wrestling. MJF is one of them. That alone makes him great.
