My meter isn’t moving while I try to calibrate my radio. What could be wrong? It’s the same one as the one in the video.

What is the benefit of having the external SWR meter? Is it more accurate than a Cobra 29 NW LTD Classic's built-in SWR meter?
Im in a dump truck today that I don't normally drive.
I was trying to check SWR with the Cobra 29s meter but it won't move the needle to the calibration mark. It stops around 3.
Grounding problem. 11 meters needs a good amount of metal as it is HF. A mag mount antenna base on a metal potion of the vehicle usually solves it.

What if it’s high on both 40 and 1?
It means you have a lot of antenna for 11 meters. More discouraging is too low on both 40 and 1. Use the built in meter 'to trick' the system. Otherwise, check your grounding, then reduce antenna length ever so little at a time.

What does it mean when my red light comes on? "Ant" i cant get mine to cal correctly, even went to buy a new antenna still not working right. Swr shoots up to the red too
Both my needles on CAL Channel One + 40 are exactly the same . But when I key the mic on slwr it goes halfway into the green if I key the mic in SRF it is in the red . When I am talking what setting should this be on with this dial srf or swr or cal. I have already got off a few pieces on the antenna please
Ideal: On SWR the meter should barely move on 'dead key'. On CAL, get the needle to the far right arrow marks. On SRF, you will also swing the needle to the far right when talking.

I'm a truck driver and have a house CD radio why when I touch the CV microphone cable the antenna works better
This sounds like an installation issue. Ensure your rig is properly grounded, check your cabling and your antenna connection and make sure nothing is damaged or corroded.
I reckon its better to leave the metre inline all the time so then u can check the swr whenever u want rather than having to hook the metre up all the time

I have an issue with mh 27 mhz raido. My swr is good. But i cant figure this problem. At night the neddle on the dial sits right up around seven. I can barley hear any one and they cat hear me good. But during the day is fine. I was told i need to earth the antenna wich i have done but no change. During the day the neddle sits low and all is good i can hear people properly when they are talking and they can hear me. This only happens at night and i know that this is not ment to happen can someone please help me fix this problem. I have a pearce simpson super tiger and a uniden president grant and this happens on both of them. Its annoying because i just want chat with my 27 mhz buddies and some skip but cant because this happens. If anyone could help me with this id be very greatful thank you.

How do you tune an antenna without transmitting ?
The built in CB meters cannot do it. You need like a MFJ SWR meter for that option

What if my antenna doesn’t get longer
my channel 1 is 1.2 but channel 40 is 1.8 my fire stick is as low as it can go any ideas

With the radio set to SWR: Low on channel 1 and high on channel 40 means the antenna is to long.

😂 Yeah, that is one way to do it.
What a black art this always seems to me. People key up for calibrate then slide to swr while holding it, others key up and release for both. I have this radio and similar meter, I did a screenshot because I always wonder if the other radio settings matter for readings.
