Finally...someone who actually explained the controls on the CB radio and their functions... Excellent terminology used...saying..."Filter...and White Noise"... Been in the CB Hobby since childhood with my Father... Still am in this Hobby...and use them daily as a secondary means of communication... Bravo my Friend ... Excellent video...
Not sure if anyone has mentioned this already, but NB/ANL is not Narrow Band/Analog, it's Noise Blanker/Automatic Noise Limiter. The Noise Blanker is designed to cut out certain pulsating noise sources, such as the ignition system found in some very old cars. The older vehicles used to produce a loud, pulsing noise spike as they operated, and the NB literally "blanked" this out by actually cutting the receiver off for a split second in time with that spike, but so briefly that our brains can't perceive the shutoff, effectively eliminating that noise source. ANL is basically an auto squelch that helps cut the "white noise" automatically, but let proper modulation. NB is pretty much obsolete with modern vehicles having much "quieter" ignition systems, but ANL is extremely helpful as there is a ton of radio frequency interference (RFI) out there these days. Cheers!
Thank you for actually knowing what you're doing. I have a Cobra 29 wx st so the actual controls are a little different, but I was able to get my radio working well with your instruction. Thanks again driver!
I HOPE more and more people get BACK into using CB's. Much better than cell phones and if a tower fails, prohibiting cell phone usage, cb's are so awesome and police won't arrest a person if they use the cb radio and they can arrest a person for using a cell phone while driving . I have 2 cb's one in each jeep.
Very important that with any cb the antenna must be matched with the radio to get the best calibration possible, I generally would use antennas that have the adjustable nail like tip having to use Allen key wrench being others that have turning tips as firestixs do not give the best calibration of fine tuning.
Keep up the videos good videos, we need more guys like you to bring back the CB. It won't comeback like it was in the late 70's through the 90's but it needs to comeback. I have a 148GTL from the late 80's. I used a Superstar 3900 as a base station because it has uppers and lowers + FM. Now that FM is approved by FCC, wondering if people will upgrade and use FM? Maybe you can do another video on Antenna brands, grounding
I just finished my training period at my first trucking job, and I've already got a CB on the way in. One of the Cobra 29 models with AM/FM functionality, and I'm quite keen to get it put into my truck for my first solo trip!
Hey so I have a cobra lx 29 in a freightliner Cascadia using the factory antenna which I know sucks, however adjusted with the setting you recommend I can hear people somewhat decent but when I key the mic in cal mode and try to adjust I just get an antenna warning regardless of how I turn the knob. Anyone have any ideas?
I have a cobra29 chrome as a back up. Do you know why the static goes in and out even when I have the squelch 100% open? sometimes no white noise at all?
No matter what i do, does not work. Not on uniden or cobra i got. Changed entire wire still nothing. This cb world is unknown world to me. Not a single shop would walk out and do help to set it up. Thanks for video. Best explanation how cb works.
The squelch sounds like a noise gate. It keeps the gate closed so you don’t have to listen to the white noise until you receive a transmission which opens the gate.
my antenna light turn red and i speak on the microphone so I bought a new antenna with new cable and i still goes red can someone tell me why why is keep doing that
NB - Noise Blocker ANL - Automatic Noise Limiter Also, SWR calibration on these cheaper radios is nothing but calibrating your meter. Nothing else. You're definitely not doing anything with your Standing Waves. That control on these radios is pointless. Standing Waves can only be adjusted with the antenna. RF Gain is a squelch on steroids. When the floor noise moves your meter farther to the right, back the RF Gain down to move your meter back to the left. Common use in big cities, lots of noise.
I just don't remember how many times I check the dump bins at the truck stops. Find cb tossed out or droped for simple things ..like hooked up wrong .. blown finals .bought new.. old tossed...all for not knowing how to use them right and PS rigs made only for 4.5 watts at the tail pipe. Not tuned for 12 watts that kills the amp quickly. And illegal. That cb can is a tool not to be abused 😊😊😊
After you set your calibration, you have to set your switch to SWR and key the mic to get your SWR reading. You didn't do that, so you don't have a truly tuned radio. You should really check the SWR with an SWR meter, not the one built in the radio, and then tune your antenna accordingly. Setting the needle in the triangle does not tune your radio.

swr cal wrong also . Its not to set your swr , it is to check it
Finally after searching all day long found a video which helped me to understand this radio stuff.. thank you sir appreciate your efforts 🙏🏻
Thanks buddy, just got a new truck, first Uniden I ever had. You made set up easy, thank you.
Man thank you finally got it to the right setting…someone who actually explained it without the extra bs 🙏🏼

Thanks so much! Just got this exact model today, not knowledgeable about it all yet. This helps. I’ll definitely rewatch as I tune it.
Thank you so much your the best to explain the cb radio function I have seen yet on utube. God bless 😮
Thank you I just got a cb for my truck and didn’t know how to tune it. Thanks
Explanation starts at 1:58

he'll yeah brother
Thanks to you I actually got my cb to work appreciate it ! Bearcat 787
Thank you for your video! I finally understand what all these knobs are for!!!!
After you calibrate you should switch to swr to make sure your antenna is adjusted correctly.
Your SWR should read below 2. 1.5 or less would best.
Thanks for the insight! Be safe on the road!
GREAT video, brother!!!
Thank you so much for your help now I can hear and use my CB
Oh yeah he definitely helped me out with that. Thanks man for sharing your knowledge with us

Have the same cb, very useful!!

My cb has like three more knobs than that I have a am and fm setting, vol del,a +10khz switch and five different bands so can you explain all of that
Very helpful, thank you for sharing! 🤙🏼
My RX/TX signal and the Ant lights goes red when I key in on the mic ,is that normal.Uniden radio
Hello i have a uniden pc76 xl what is the Delta tune knob for
What is the delta tune on my cobra 29 ltd classic?
Great video, thank you for helping

Ps f cb shop at iowa80. Fkin bullies.
Is it still not working?
Thanks,very helpful video.
How can I calibrate if my cb doesn’t have a cal switch
The squelch sounds like a noise gate. It keeps the gate closed so you don’t have to listen to the white noise until you receive a transmission which opens the gate.
you have to get an antenna also right? dont get a cb without one?
Lol, correct
Also Hi Cut is Squelch control for radio don't need adjustment on Squelch knob just Volume and full RF Gain for Reiceve!
When I calibrate min I can’t get the band to move over to the arrow I can’t get it to move normally either when I go to talk
Do you set it and forget it? Or do these settings change with weather and whatnot?
Set it and forget it. You can go get it tuned but once it’s set you just go
Good job!!
Thanks
Thanks for this
Take what and adjust it? You didn't show us
Thank you!!
Great video
Thank you I’m thinking about getting a cb radio
Thanks for sharing

Thx so much!
