www.cbradiomagazine.com - Cobra has released the new Cobra 29 LX digital display CB radio as a follow up to the popular LX LE 50th anniversary special edition. Some new features were added to the digital menu but otherwise the radio remains the same.

I'm a ham radio operator and have several transceivers, but I have to say this is an impressive radio. Thanks for the video.
Nice unit I just picked one up installed in my truck works great using with a Wilson 500 no issues what so ever love the noaa feature where you can you scan the weather in unfamiliar areas got to give it five stars out of five.
😯 oh wow I remember these, well maybe not exactly this one but the ones from the 1990s, for sure. Back when I was living in a little city called easton pennsylvania and on the weekends, my friends and I would cruise up and down the strip and just talk on the cb all night long to a lot of other truckers or to other people. If we weren't talking to the truckers we would always keep our radio channel on 27, so we couldn't disturb other people that were talking about serious stuff.
Anyway this is what we did on Friday and Saturday night from 8:00 p.m. that night until at least 5:00 in the morning.

It appears to me that CB radio is making a comeback. There sure are a lot more radios available out there. There is nothing like working another station through the atmospheric noise and flutter. Working SSB lower side of 38 late at night. It's a great hobby.

Well bought this radio. Pleased I did too. Great tx and Rx and controls and extras too. Clock and timer are just two. Selection of colour screens too. Overall a really nice radio. Well built radio although volume and on/off button could be better. No other concerns for me.

You adjust the dimmer by turning the main knob. It changes very slowly

ok so it only comes with a red and black wire for power and ground. Do I hook it up from the battery to a fuse to a relay to the cb radio?

What a cool radio! The clock and scan feature is sweet. I've had a cobra 29 classic forever that I'm thinking about hooking up in my garage instead of my truck but I've been out of it for so long that I don't know if too many people use these radios anymore. Is it a dying technology do you think??

I miss this radio. I used to have it in my daily driver when I had a 3 hour commute. Its an outstanding kit and looks sexy in a sports car interior.
It was so useful on the interstate to avoid revenue generation and also as an entertainment center and profanity workstation. Flip the switch and you are in awe with the amount of abuse, bigotry, racism, profanity, off color jokes and unrestricted thoughts being cast into the airwaves lol. Its refreshing to hear people able to speak their minds without censorship or even consequences of any kind... puts hair on your chest.

I had mine in a 2016 kenworth and the shop moved it to a 2021 freightliner cascadia. It powers on but the backlight won't come on. I've checked all settings and still not working. HELP!

What antenna do you recommend for this. I have it installed in my Dodge 2500. I'm not recieving much in the way of CB chatter and have done radio check attempts with no return signals?

Verify that you have put the stud washers together properly. Firestik k4 or k4a package has a picture on the back showing where the washers should be. Don’t use no ground plain coax or antennas

Hi there! Just bought a galaxy 959 DX and can't find anything about the scan function, is there even one do you know, or could you please find out?
I heard some bad reviews regarding the new Cobra 29. I'll just stick with my Cobra 148GTL, after 12 years it still works like the day it was pulled outta the box,and I'am the second owner.

the new Lx Max models are not to my liking. they are known to have failures on the butt soldering

That IS a cool looking rig! If it was SSB it would look great in the dash (under the ashtray) of my '99 Grand Prix GTP! I'll leave my 40 ch SSB where it is for now. Maybe they'll come out with a SSB version?

Yes add bluetooth Nightwatch its a no brainer. This is the nicest looking radio out there I think.
Mine is driving me nuts just pulled old one out put this one in everything passes except for RF output power WTH any suggestions
If it’s has been peaked and tuned it’ll come up as fail I have 3 of these radios 1 for me and 2 others for my sons I drive a W9 kids have a 2019 cascadia n 379 Pete radios work great always get good reports
hey :) I don't know jack about CB's however my husband is an OTR driver and needs a new radio and I'm trying to grab him a new radio through the trucking companies catalog before his hometime. I hope you will help, I have 3 questions please.
1. Does the Cobra allow for military time on the clock function? 2. Which would you recommend : The Cobra 29 LX or the Uniden Bearcat 980SSB ? And the Bearcat.. is the standard mic good enough or should I order a better one? (From most reviews all recommend the Cobra needs a powermic) thanks so much in advance if you respond.

david dickson define work. Are you using the European frequencies? So long as there is a radio to receive your frequencies yes it would work. Typically the power that comes out of a CB radio is anywhere from 8 to 10 W of power.po

Noise blanker/Anti noise limiter
NB is great for eliminating ignition noise when it works right. It doesn't make the received audio fuzzy like ANL.
If this has SSB id buy it, I really really like this radio too. It's unfortunate:/

my radio is turning on and off while is in off mode. while is on, it does turn off and back on also, it does it sometimes. why is that happening? I just bought it used and tuned up, I have a video showing what it does.

Check your hot and ground wires and make sure it's plugged in good at the back of the cb. Sounds like you have a loose connection on either the the hot or ground wire
I was having the same problem I was assuming that it was a bad ground on my truck because it didn't do it when I switched trucks.
