    The aftermarket speaker are earth magnet the oem are lab/neodymium magnet that is 4x more powerful magnet per size .if u compare a aftermarket neodymium to the ones you installed they will sound alot more...compare to a prv 6mb250-ndy
    Thats why the oem get alot of sound for the size

  • @awo1fman
    @awo1fman 2 года назад +24

    Size isn't everything, *especially* with magnets. The composition of the material is far more important. There are gigantic magnets that have less force than some teensy magnets. There are cheap speakers with large magnets that move much less air than other speakers with relatively small magnets. Assuming a speaker is "better" just because the magnet is larger is a huge mistake.
    I can't help noticing that the Alpine speakers have much smaller driver cones than the OEM speakers, which is another factor. Smaller cones MUST have a much greater excursion to move the same amount of air as a larger cone. While there are small speakers that have remarkably good sound compared with some speakers that are much larger, there are lots of factors that can't be determined simply by looking at them. Smaller magnets but larger cones make for a combination that is pretty much a wash comparing with the replacement speakers.
    I would like to see some independent tests of the various drivers with hard, scientific numbers, not subjective hearing tests. Especially since audio is an extremely subjective matter of taste.

    I'm amazed at the amount of bass that comes from my stock door speakers (at certain optimal frequencies). Like I hear and feel the bass from my doors more than my actual rear subwoofer.

    • @awo1fman
      @awo1fman 2 года назад

      I agree with this in my 2017 Model S with premium audio. Of course, low bass is very hard to localize, but when my elbow is on the door armrest I can really feel the vibration. That's true even with the door open when there is very little physical connection with the rest of the car to transmit vibration.

  • @B_E_C_K

    What about the mid bass? Replacing the 8 "' door speakers with 6" or 6 1/2" seems like you might lose the nice stock mid bass from the 8' speakers. Perhaps you don't notice due to the subwoofer upgrade? Bigger magnets matter, but wouldn't they also be way less efficient, drawing more power?

      @@noelyboy6969 the stock system utilized very efficient speakers that do not require much power. Aftermarket Alpine speakers need much more power than the stock system amplifier feeds to the speakers. The only solution would be to have a professional install a more powerful afterrmarket amp amp to drive the alpines. That may not be worth the effort, cost, or issues associated with.

    Hello. I am curious of the amplifier situation of a 2023 Model 3 Standard Range and how it compares to AWD. In the AWD, do I understand it to have 2 amplifiers ? If so, what is the wattage and what does each serve ? Is it one amp serving just the sub and one amp for all the tweeters/mids/woofers ? What is the wattage of the SR amplifier ?

    It looks like you did not use the crossovers that come with the front speakers, is that correct?

    • @meseone920
      @meseone920 2 года назад +1

      My presumption is there are no passive crossovers included unlike ordering speakers direct from alpine. It would be presumed that they are using Tesla factory passive/digital crossovers and crossover points. Not sure if Tesla uses an inline passive crossover/cap inline to the door speaker as I hope they do or that alpine tweet in the door is screaming with a high potential of burning out. I also saw the mid dash tweet was not swapped out in this install and not sure why the kit would not include one as I personally would have swapped it out. I also would have added a grated material over the internal port hole on the sub box and then filled it with 20-30% of the volume with poly fill. The new sub has a larger magnetic displacement and shrinks the air volume of the enclosure. Adding the fill would add a lower frequency to the sub while also lowering its power consumption.
      This may be a project for me this spring.

So really the increase in audio is just the speakers quality/frequency and setup.
