Love your videos I bought the last set of speakers before the Alpines. I’ve been very happy with them, but my next Tesla I’ll go with the Alpines. Can you answer question for me. The speakers that are in the windshield you mentioned casually that the little speaker next to the center one, you don’t need to touch. do you know what that speaker does? Is it related to your music or is it part of some warning system from the car? I was just wondering what it is. You have a buy the tweeters I would be interested in doing that. I don’t think the last brand that you reviewed had a replacement to the tweeter so that might be a little bit different for me.
A couple of questions, bigger the magnet doesn't always mean bigger sound, it depends on the type as well. Do you know what Alpine uses? From the picture it looks like Tesla is using neodymium-iron-boron. For the subwoofer, the speaker needs to match the enclosure dimensions, especially if it is ported. Do you know the the Alpine S-W8D4 is optimal for the Tesla enclosure?
The sound seems to be more defined and higher fidelity regardless of the bass which has also improved. What worries me is that those Alpine speakers seem to be made using regular ferrite magnets based on your description of the weight and the visual size. Tesla uses neodymium magnet-based speakers because 1)They are lighter (and much smaller magnets), 2)They have better response for high pitch sounds on tweeters, and 3)They require less power than ferrite-based speakers resulting on a smaller amplifier (amp) size and of course, lighter as well. Remember, EVs need to preserve power as much as possible and also reduce weight as much as possible (the batteries already make the cars heavier than their ICE counterparts). Since it looks like you are not changing the amps, you might be forcing the stock amps to provide higher power (to be honest, I'm not sure of the numbers). I would be interested myself on doing some good speaker upgrades on my Model 3 Performance, but I'm not sure if this is the best way to go? If you have more details on numbers would be nice to know.
Does the original amplifier know how to handle the new set? You presented a big difference between the original magnet and the new one which is much bigger meaning it requires more power. It seems that the amplifier could not handle high volume. by the way, I don't have a Tesla, but another vehicle with 11 speakers premium system that I'm not satisfied with. Did my OEM amplifier know how to handle with this set of speakers?
I used to mess around with my old car to get the best sounds and bass in my teen and early 20s. I never thought that I gotta get back into it when they say it's premium audio.
I am so tempted to do this. What I would like to add for my install is more sound deadening on the front doors, rear trunk and sub area. I wonder if it's gonna take the sound beyond what these speakers already offering. Thank you for the helpful video.
Now we talking, I used to have the loudest system in high school. I will get those installed as soon as it gets out of service from just dying while I was charging it at home. They can't figure it out no D or R. Thanks 4thevids

3:19 I can feel that sub in the back of my seat” means there’s issues with phase since alpine sub requires larger cabinet. I believe those 3” mids are the nice add. Tweeters quite bright but eq can tame down. Polyfil really helps for the subwoofer enclosure. Just my 5 cent 😅
Good afternoon! I love your videos. I just want to know coming from Light Harmonic how big is the improvement to you? Was it that drastic to drop the Light Harmonic setup?
Placebo effect. 80% or more of the sound quality will come from the amp and dsp quality, power and range. Changing speakers DOES have an effect if and only if the amp and dsp are already tuned for a range of frequencies and power that the new speaker MIGHT be able to tap into vs stock. Light Harmonic speakers had a very marginal (but noticeable) difference probably exactly due to this…can better handle certain range of frequencies vs stock. Alpine MIGHT again have that marginal increase in clarity at certain frequencies. The sub is no different. There is absolutely no more power, signal or frequency range going to the speaker. It might hit a tiny bit lower but not substantially simply due to the 8” size (it’s all physics). I sure hope that the alpine speaker specs are meant for such a small enclosure (I think it’s 0.2-0.5 cubic feet) and that the dual voice coil setup and pulling the same ohms as stock. You are driving this “more capable” sub with the exact same power and frequency range. I would watch out for overpowering the stock amp in this case. To properly compare this to Light Harmonic you need to test with a simple program and good mic or at least have a car with LH to compare immediately. The other Tesla had stock and M3. Both of which are way different for LH setup.
@@toddswire9581 if the alpine's are significantly more sensitive, the difference could be substantial. I don't think the tesla speakers have published specs though, so... trust your ears
Hey Brian, you made an excellent video a couple of years ago on the Light Harmonic speaker upgrade on your Y, I bought those for my 3 right after and pretty happy every since then. I also had ended up adding a Sonic Electronix subwoofer on the left empty side of the trunk to add more lows to my sound. Question to you is - how do you compare the sound experience between these and the Light Harmonic upgrade we did before this?
Alpine makes speaker for years (over 30 - 40 years I believe), The one Brian got is one of the top of the line speakers so pretty sure it would sound better than LH.
Hope i1Tesla can also review the STEG Custom-Fit Speaker Set Mid-range Tweeter Subwoofer for Tesla Model 3. Made a comparison between Steg, LH and Apline.
The promotional campaign for HEPA King appears impressive, but it fails to highlight the requirement of upgrading four additional speakers for achieving a fully immersive sound. It's concerning that the promotional content overlooks the rear speakers situated behind the rear seats and the two on the rear door.
Hi Brian. This looks like exactly what i was looking for! it seems though that the only online sellers are in Australia. Any suggestions as to where to buy these? Thanks!!
$ 416 USD for a pair of door and tweeter speakers including adapters looks reasonable considering you said in the comments below that they are even better than the Light Harmonic speakers. Do you think just these doors speakers will make a huge difference for a 2021 M3 SR+ ? I already have the 4 tweeters activated and it has great sound but lacks base since the SR+ has no Sub. ??? But Brian, how come in the website, the door speakers " Apline S Series S65C " picture does not look like your speakers at all in your video ??? I can not find the door speakers in your video with the blue mounts on the Website ???
thats what i was thinking ... stock is already bright as hell and i have the sub level turnt down .. bass head but not ridiculous. hip hop / fusion /80's / latin ... how loud does it need to be? i'd need to hear this for myself to A / B.
Bigger magnet doesn’t mean better. Tesla uses neodymium so it’ll be smaller than regular magnet that Alpine uses. Also, You can’t just swap a new subwoofer in an oem enclosure. You’ll need to know all the speaker parameters to be able to tell which volume, tube diameter and length is the best match for the Alpine sub. I agree that there’re rooms for improvement but what you did is just a random way to do and hope it’ll be better. You don’t look at the speakers spec and don’t even know the sensitivity of the speakers.
The company is working on a one click button to order. I will have that for you when they add it to the site. This is a huge upgrade.
Many options on the site, so for Model 3 which is the kit?
Hello sir, when the company going to add complete "ready to fit" total package for Model Y, and will it be fit model Y 2022 performance model?
Why didn't you upgrade the amp?
We're still waiting for the 'one click kit'

Interesting. Doesn't your toque restrict your hearing, particularly in the hight end?
What about the amplifier? So the power output doesn’t change at all? Magnets only mean a small part
where did you get the ring foam and what size of sealers did you get? Also did you change your amplifier?
Love love love the sound but would never be able to do that myself and not sure i would trust an audio system place to do that on a tesla

Where did you get the extra foam circles for the front speakers? I ordered the speakers from HEPA King, but I didn't receive those foam circles.
Great video. Do you not use the upper A pillar speaker? I love bright highs, would you recommend using those higher speakers?
What if I have the Model Y that doesn't come with the subwoofer, will this system work for me?
where did you get the roll of foam and the speaker foam for the doors?
I got the speakers and sub, but the door speakers sound a bit muffled.
I installed the light harmonic speakers, is this another day and night difference?
Strange, it seems those Digital Precision Alpine speakers are not available in germany.
But why didnt you do some sound absorbing alubutyl on it, if you just removed the whole penelling?

@i1Tesla Any chance of purchasing the 3d file to print instead of ordering to have them sent to Australia?
Do you need to replace the stock amp or just the speakers to get this result?
Sounds fantastic
He just replaced the speakers, I can actually hear the difference from my earphone lol
Are the speakers in the older Model Y's the same as the latest Model Y's? I read that there are about 13 speakers but I see half that amount.

Tesla prefers to use common parts bin in the 3/Y so if it does not need to change it they wont. it should be the same install.
