I like to thank you for your easy and understandable explanation. Just Saturday finished at work to go back home and the middle of the way which is about 1 mile, I was waiting for the green light at the stop light and when I gave gas to my Car it hesitate it so bad I thought the engine is going to go off but it didn't, I continue to go forward but I noticed it was running rough like never before, I was afraid that my Car would stall and proceed to get out of the way because I got a lot of cars behind me, I shut it off and waited for a few minutes then turned on and made it home safely today I needed to go to the store and you did the same thing, I like to thank you for posting this, tomorrow morning I will do a cleaning to that sensor but I don't have that spray, do they sell it in any auto parts store? Thanks, JD

My 96 Jeep Cherokee has a problem I can't diagnose. The symptoms are similar to a bad/ dirty Mass Airflow Sensor and Throttle Position Sensor, but the symptoms don't fit either exactly. It happens only while driving, not while idling. The engine will suddenly lose RPM as if it want to die for a couple seconds then will go back up to normal, then down and up repeatedly for a couple minutes then will clear up and run fine for a while. It also seems to "pop" lightly like it wants to back fire but can't. Would you consider this a problem with the MAS or TPS or could it be something else? Thank you. P.S. I've tried changing fuel to a higher grade and used fuel injector cleaner.
I have a question? I got a 2005 with code p o 172 and p o 175 and replace the intake sensor but didn’t fix my proble still hesitate at 40 mph and the rpm goes higher.. what else do you think I should check
My gas doesn’t feel smooth when pressing the pedal and I’ve taken it to multiple auto repair shops multiple times regarding this issue. They keep telling me nothings wrong. Does VW Jetta’s have this part?
actually the "wires" dont do much, they simply increase in temperature as a means to give the PCM a reference point so it can notice the differential relationship between the "hot" wires and the cooler intake air to procure the algorythms needed to adjust fuel/air proportions as per specs whicj are stored in the PCM....I like yur vids but be sure and inform your followers that the neg battery terminal needs to be removed before dealing with ANY sensor
Hello, I have a problem with my 2003 Mercury sable, first of all it does a small series of things that I can’t for the life of me figure out the problem, After my car warms up a little and you happen to be at a stop light or at a hill and as soon as you press the gas peddle it jerks before it goes, like kinda a delay, here lately I noticed when I’m going down the highway with cruise control set at 65 going on level road it’ll ever so slightly slow down and speed up (like go to 63 and back to 65), and sometimes when you stop and put it in park it’ll start revving upwards of 2000-2500 rpms and stay there. No engine light has gone off except every now and then and I read the code it says “manufacture control” but that hasn’t happened in a couple months, also sometimes in park when it’s not revving up it’ll start revving up and down constantly and the car sometimes dies on its own, I went into the store one time and left my car running for the ac and when I came back out my car was dead and it ran the battery down since the accessories kept running, can someone please help me solve this problem!!!! The problems are starting to happen more often, please help me figure it out!! Thanks!
It may be some kind of simple sensor such as an oxygen sensor, MAF sensor, TPS sensor or other sensor. Is your air filter clean? It's possible you could have a throttle body sticking which you need to clean if it's dirty. Not having a check engine light on makes it more difficult to diagnose. You may need to take it to a good trust worthy mechanic. ruclips.net/video/cOAYWVBfuek/видео.html
Hello all. My car is cutting off while driving, check engine light on, hesitant to start after fueling. Could it be the MAF Sensor????? I did get a reading that said so.
I had a factory original filter on my 2011 malibu with 59000 miles. I changed it yesterday but the air box was filled with sand.. it takes a long time for the car to accelerate... will cleaning the mass air flow sensor help??I vacuumed out the box n put a new air filter on...please advice thanks
The answer to your question is a big yes. This could be your entire acceleration problem. If you do not perform routine air filter maintenance on your engine then the mass air flow sensor will get dirty much faster. Once it gets dirty you WILL have acceleration problems.
Also, just be advised that if you do replace or clean your Mass Air Flow Sensor, it might take up to 50 miles of driving for your check engine light to reset and turn off.
Shine a light into that Toyota sensor head-on. Deep in the skirting are two shiny teeny resistors. Blast those with the cleaner spray too. Just dont poke or use a cotton bud. They are delicate things and easily detached.
hi friend, you said that it would take 50 miles of driving for the check engine light to turn off. What if the check engine light wasn't turned on to begin with and I just wanted to clean the maf sensor? would the check engine light turn on after cleaning? thank you
As long as the key is not in the ignition it should not turn on the check engine light when you disconnect the MAF to clean it. ruclips.net/video/YnckaCCJEEk/видео.html

@@snesha420 Because you replaced it and it did not fix the problem, the next thing I would do is check to make sure that the electrical connection plug that attaches to the mass air flow sensor is receiving voltage. You would need a digital volt meter to perform this.
I have a problem. Not sure if it falls under the jurisdiction of your video. If I stop at some stop sign, and then I have to enter the road and accelerate, there is a couple of seconds during which I get no acceleration. I can hear the engine roaring, but for couple of seconds, no acceleration. But then the rest of the drive is smooth. I have Nissan altima 2009. Does the solution in your video is exactly related to my problem.??

I have no fault codes on my Toyota Yaris 1.0L (2004), new spark plugs new air filter checked MAF sensor (clean like new) cleaned throttle body cleaned IACV (was clean almost) cleaned PCV tested TPS checked vapor solenoid tested camshaft position sensor checked ignition coils - but still have some vibration on idle and hesitation after fast/sharply pressing the gas pedal (hesitation from idle to 1500-2000 rpm, like if the engine is choking), but if I give gas smoothly - the engine normally gains speed and power.... also no luck of power from 2000 to 7000 rpm.
@@emigrant4life it’s kind of mind-boggling how many different things can cause the engine to not run smooth. I have a RUclips that I did on engine hesitation and I believe there were at least 45 different things that I listed.
I’m going to try this tonight. I have a 2003 Ford Focus and I keep getting engine misfires (P0302) and often rough on acceleration from a stop. One time the car just decelerated on highway (only once - checked transmission and it’s fine). Plugs, wires, and cylinders all good. If this doesn’t work - what should I try next? So sorry to ask the question, but I’m on a tight budget and am doing it myself.
This does not sound like a mass air flow sensor problem. P0302 trouble code is an indication that cylinder #2 is misfiring and is not getting the necessary spark to its spark plug. It's very possible spark plug #2 has a loose electrical connection on the spark plug itself or a failing ignition coil which is very easy to replace. Let me know what happens.
proclaimliberty2000 should I test for ignition coil problems then? This problem has been here for so long and getting told to just replace spark plugs when I already did by a mechanic just shot me down. Regardless I might clean the MAF anyways for good measure. Thanks for your response!

My can doesn't say that and there have been no problems.
I bought a new one; i also replaced the fuel pump and it's running lovely now

Can the mass air flow sensor need a cleaning and not throw a code?
Yup
I can't find my air flow sensor sir ..it's missing... I think my macanic missed while installing cold air intake.
I am getting problem while accelerate car not running how supposed to run
Darel Dias bro my mustang 2015 v6 has same issue when u turn on the speed then @ speed 80 my car misses for a second then it goes up 80 speed how to diagnose it I have cold air intake as well

Hi, my 2007 audi a4 b7 has very weak rev at idle. I stepped on the gas and the rpm just slowly goes up. Before it revs up nice and strong. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
I tested my maf sensor by starting my car and pulling out the maf sensor plug and the car stopped. Doesnt that mean the maf sensor is working properly. Im having power loss and lurching and hesitation when i accelerate and its getting very frustrating.
My 87 runs really good but it has a constant intermittent hesitation as if it hiccups, has good pick up speed and with air on, sitting at a light sometimes it will stall, but starts right back up, I did all the cleaning stuff like you all say on here, and can't wait to see if it works, but this car has issues, one thing quits working and you fix it then another thing quits ?? I get a lot of compliments,(nice car) but again its black and new convertible black top, and new tires its a nice driving car till this problem, And I've been working on cars with my father since I was 8 yrs old and I am 60, just want to drive and enjoy life.
It sounds like it might be a dirty throttle body. ruclips.net/video/cOAYWVBfuek/видео.html

I will have to try this since my 1992 Honda accord has been getting worse with stalling when I stop and severe surging on acceleration.
It sounds like you also need to perform this. ruclips.net/video/cOAYWVBfuek/видео.html

my 2013 model Hundai Tucson SUV has started to develope this hesitation at the early morning hours, it does not have enough power at the start of the engine and when I press the gas pedal too much during that stage, I hear some knocking at the exhaust. Also, it does not have the power like it used to have when climbing elevated road. surely appreciate your response. thank you sir...
What causes the problem driving 10-20 miles per hour car jerking hard and stop and did it again?change all coil and spark plug and map sensor oem part.but when unplug the map sensor the car drive normal no jerking
Had the same problem but it was the air tube it had a huge crack and was sucking in air , part was 100$ so i just used black duct tape instead
I am hoping this works on my Altima! Thanks for the info
Did it work cuz I got the same thing on my fuckin Altima
indeed a simple fix for a big problem...and it works too.......
The best video millions X thanks💞
How can we actually know that this is the actual problem? Coz my car also struggles to accelerate when i press the gas or brake. It had body shop service n they changed the intercooler too. After I realized the problem, i went back n told them n they said it might be intercooler coz thats the only thing they touched when they changed the bumper so they changed the intercooler the second time with factory product but i still face the issue. Any suggestion?
Thank you so so much. Solved the problem immediately.

I haven’t drove my car for a month and the mechanic’s told me it might be a engine problem or something with the fuel system , so I checked my fuse box and it was a bad etcs fuse #10 and my car is good now.
I have a 2013 honda cr-v it hesitates about the third crank it starts then my check engine light is on and other lights I just put a alternated on today doing what's in your video should that fix the problem or should I look into the full pump it doesn't bog down or skip going up a hill or nothing but when I run the car a bit I shut it off then when I get back in it it starts right up and the check engine light is off so could the mass air flow be the problem?
SWEET! Gonna try this first... automatic 2012 Camry, sluggish at 2nd gear. So easy, hope it's a fix, thank you!!
2018 Ford eco sport perking during acceleration after 60/70mph and already had the engine replaced because of the oil pump and engine failure.
Hello I have a question. This happens with every automatic car I buy. I accidentally switch gears from park to drive and let off the break too quickly. After a while of doing this on accident than the car doesn't switch gears smooothly while driving. It jerks forward and. Did I mess up the transmission and is this a big fix? Please help.
motor mount?
Thanks for the video.
And I'm not a pro but what you point out and spray with the cleaner looks to me quite a lot like a ptc or something for temperature sensing. The really thin wire that measures the oxygen flow should be in that bigger window.
It still got a good amount of the cleaner but yeah just saying.
Otherwise keep it up :)
my ford focus 2004 drive for a while and then hesitate and shut off. i could start back after a couple of minutes. would this cause .
would you get black smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe if you step on accelerator peddle when its not working right
I've never heard of a dirty of faulty MAF causing black smoke. It sounds to me like the piston rings in the engine are worn.
Thanks, JD
Oh man. It just happened to me couple days ago when i came to red lights. I stayed there for 20 min n cars were coming n waiting behind me while hazardous lights were on, then move on next line. I was talking to AAA, but after waiting for 20 min there, i turned it on n i drove. I didn’t know what happened but i also have the same problem that my car struggles to accelerate, maybe this caused that problem as well. Tomorrow will try this

Our 1989 Honda Civic with 1.5 engine does not have a MAFS, But throttle does quickly ebb and flow until the car is fully warmed-up. Any other culprit(s) to look for?
It has a MAP sensor and a IAT sensor.

My engine is revving up alot when i give it gas but its like bottlenecking itself it revvs up and then accelerates slowly until it hits 2k rpm then it jerks and hauls ass i think its my fuel pump or a bad injector but i can have my gas pedal all the way down and it will cap around 65mph i installed an aftermarket air filter but it was running fine after that...any suggestions on what it could be?
Dr.@k3 aka Doctor At K3 if u used the cotton filter with the oil on it like k&n and others, the oil could be coming off and caking on the maf sensor....this would fix it.
Thanks for sharing now I know how to clean it, on my car.

Hi I got kia Rio 1.3 2001 model they don't have mass airflow sensor. I change idle control valve but still hestitat special when engine is hot.when u shift to first gear u can't leaf the car move it own.I must always press accelerates
If your check engine light is not on, then cleaning the MAF would be a good start.
ok thank you.
Goodmorning,
My engine hesitate anD i noticed water dipping from my exhaust, what would be the possible cause of this. Thank you sir
does my civic lx have the same censor like that?
I have a question? I got a 2005 with code p o 172 and p o 175 and replace the intake sensor but didn’t fix my proble still hesitate at 40 mph and the rpm goes higher.. what else do you think I should check
Jerry Velasquez did you replace the mass air flow sensor with a genuine OEM?
Why?
Would any quick drying cleaning product work???
Neftali Garcia Not if it leaves residue on the wires. That’s why I only use mass air flow sensor cleaner.
Hello, I have a problem with my 2003 Mercury sable, first of all it does a small series of things that I can’t for the life of me figure out the problem,
After my car warms up a little and you happen to be at a stop light or at a hill and as soon as you press the gas peddle it jerks before it goes, like kinda a delay, here lately I noticed when I’m going down the highway with cruise control set at 65 going on level road it’ll ever so slightly slow down and speed up (like go to 63 and back to 65), and sometimes when you stop and put it in park it’ll start revving upwards of 2000-2500 rpms and stay there.
Country Lifestyle bro did you solved itV
I had a factory original filter on my 2011 malibu with 59000 miles. I changed it yesterday but the air box was filled with sand.. it takes a long time for the car to accelerate... will cleaning the mass air flow sensor help??I vacuumed out the box n put a new air filter on...please advice thanks
The answer to your question is a big yes. This could be your entire acceleration problem. If you do not perform routine air filter maintenance on your engine then the mass air flow sensor will get dirty much faster. Once it gets dirty you WILL have acceleration problems.
proclaimliberty2000 thanks ill clean it out and hopefully save myself $$$$ . ill confirm back in a week
Also, just be advised that if you do replace or clean your Mass Air Flow Sensor, it might take up to 50 miles of driving for your check engine light to reset and turn off.
proclaimliberty2000 currently my light is not on. so hopefully it stays off
Great video, thanks!
Thanks.
We appreciate this video💌
I have a question. I drive a Lexus & went over a dip & now when I drive above 65 it smells like burn oil but has no leaks. Please help??? Thanks for the video by the way

Shazeika Khan do you have a check engine light on the dashboard of your vehicle?
@@proclaimliberty2000 yes.. it says mas air flow sensor. 😣

- but still have some vibration on idle and hesitation after fast/sharply pressing the gas pedal (hesitation from idle to 1500-2000 rpm, like if the engine is choking), but if I give gas smoothly - the engine normally gains speed and power.... also no luck of power from 2000 to 7000 rpm.

Thanks buddy you made my day.
Brenna Paulson It’s very possible that replacing the ignition coil will fix it.
