Could this cause a car struggling to stay started on a cold start? I noticed after checking my MAS it was completely black in which i could not get rid of the Residue when spraying it. Once my car has started warming up the idle smooths out with no issues after through out driving the car. I have no check engine lights nor codes. I’m totally confused as to what the issue is. I also change the spark plugs.

My van (UK) went into limp mode when the MAF went. Main xdealer was £120 per hr plus parts,
Local commercial garage £60 per hr, but they used original part. For the warranty.. now runs like a dream.

Hey your a good teacher but if you want to be an excellent teacher do this simple thing slow down. You masterfully understand these different things of how a car works but your viewer is not a master talk to people as if they are children slow down how you explain things and you will be the best teacher you could be.

Here's a little advice I just purchased one for my 89 Buick 3.3 . I spent the extra money and bought it off them A1 auto parts rather than buying a cheap one well guess what it didn't fit the guide pins where .003 bigger than the old one with no taper on the ends and one crooked so I had to drill the holes on the throttle body bigger . I left them good feedback on ebay before I had time to install it . Hopefully you get better parts from them than I did . Not sure if I will do business with them again . 🤔

You are absolutely amazing! Thank you for the great enthusiastic, upbeat, and thorough lesson. Was going to use vinegar in a spray bottle to clean the sensor. So happy I looked into this first.
One question. Can't seem to find how to clean the fixed filter in a 2004 Lexus RX 330. Do I have to replace the whole filter housing? The inside is full of, what appears to be, nesting material. It is my mother's car and it only sat for 2 months, intact. We replaced all of the coil packs and spark plugs. Codes read 5th coil pack malfunction. When we were ready to replace the housing and new filter, we noticed the fixed filter on top. Then noticed the sensor definitely needed cleaning. And the inside is nasty.

Do they come from one or two manufacturers, then just programmed to the car company specs?
What do you offer in terms of getting the live data out and examples of this.

I HATE NEW CARS! was a Ford mechanic in 90s, Mustangs, Fairlanes... we'd re build them up then maybe put 390s 428s... In them and maybe a MSD box, my 68 Cougar is 400+hp 289, no GD sensors. We knew, know how to adjust the carbs and timing... 2000 Taurus is my 1st fwd drive car ever had, 8 yrs, mechanicly fine I fixed it, all these BS sensors can blow me all the sudden with the trouble codes. I'll be getting my 82 Bronco 4spd going again, sooner than later! Good video though!

Sadly the good explanation of how a MAF works is diminished by cleaning the wrong part of the MAF. What you cleaned is the air intake temp sensor bulb not the hot wire resistors. They are located deeper in the tube on that sensor and can cleaned as well.
