Could this cause a car struggling to stay started on a cold start? I noticed after checking my MAS it was completely black in which i could not get rid of the Residue when spraying it. Once my car has started warming up the idle smooths out with no issues after through out driving the car. I have no check engine lights nor codes. I’m totally confused as to what the issue is. I also change the spark plugs.

+T. Farris We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c

You are absolutely amazing! Thank you for the great enthusiastic, upbeat, and thorough lesson. Was going to use vinegar in a spray bottle to clean the sensor. So happy I looked into this first.
One question. Can't seem to find how to clean the fixed filter in a 2004 Lexus RX 330. Do I have to replace the whole filter housing? The inside is full of, what appears to be, nesting material. It is my mother's car and it only sat for 2 months, intact. We replaced all of the coil packs and spark plugs. Codes read 5th coil pack malfunction. When we were ready to replace the housing and new filter, we noticed the fixed filter on top. Then noticed the sensor definitely needed cleaning. And the inside is nasty.

+Piri Hern It is always worth it to try and clean it out to see if that fixes the issue. These codes are sometimes caused by a dirty MAF and related components but if the issue persists and the voltage is still not running correctly (throwing the same codes), it will more than likely have to be replaced.
