@Daniel Brockman Is that the only problem? My tsx was having issues similar to that except all the lights kept coming on except the check engine light on. Come to find out it was a bad battery cord.
Excellent! Thanks for taking the time to be thorough. I am having issues with an older car hesitating when accelerating and didn't realize all that could affect it. I like your presentation, straight to the point.
Exactly. This video is perfect for people who don’t understand cars. They take them in with something they perceive as simple, ask for a ‘tune’ lol… yet look at what checks mechanics have to go through, and when your doing that many checks, your bound to find something else. Some of those things only take a 5-10 minute check. Some jobs 1-2 hours. But videos like this help casual mechanics understand the Pros, and try not to give them a hard time lol
Thanks Paul, I’ve looked at loads of those forum’s...useless...! You and Scotty are the only ones giving this advice to check and clean Mass Airflow Sensor for poor acceleration...what I call a flat spot...! Cleaned the MAP sensor on my daughters 2009 Vauxhall Astra 1.6 Sxi and it as done the trick. I cleaned it with WD40 Contact Cleaner which worked but, it didn’t evaporate...I had to run the hairdryer through it to dry it out. The sensor on this one has only two contacts and does not appear to be removable from the air filter hose...you can see it though from the filter end though and reach it with the tube. Hope this is useful to other people searching the internet for idea’s. By the way, it also seems to have fixed the Rev lag when changing gear, something that I saw on one forum as “perfectly normal on Astra’s”. Thanks Paul
Just bought an old ranger. My noodle is over the top blabbergasted at how many little bits and pieces serve their own purpose. Thank you for laying it all out for us women learning to do it ourselves. 👍
Thank you for the long list of what could possibly cause engine performnce issues. Lot of people think fixing or replacing a part or two can fix the issues but it's not always the case. That's why the problem must be diagnosed rather than blindly throwing parts at it. So many components and sensors work together to send the accurate amount of data to the ECM, so that the ECM can send the right ratio of fuel to gain the maximum cobustion output. Any diffiencey can disrupt the proper combustion process causing performance issues overtime. Engineers have spends decades to come up with a product that we now take it for granted. It's not a horse or a bike. This is a product of science not a miracle.
This has bar far been the best video I've seen all day!!!!! I had all spark plugs and coil for cylinfer 3 being as though thats where im having misfire, replaced and fuel injector as well and check engine light still on but this video broke it way down....Thanks

Believe it or not, where I live, water in fuel is a common issue which affects the entire engine badly. Paul did this thoroughly, like all of his videos, helped me few months ago with a problem which a few mechanics failed to determine so I did it myself.
Thanks for the info. The scan tool is essential on these newer vehicles. I grew up in the 50's where changing plugs usually took care of the hesitation. But now..... I like my 1967 c20 best! God bless.
That’s a lot to take in. I was just looking at a issue I have with my car and I’m sure one of these would be the culprit. The thing is which one. I’m no master mechanic by a long shot but watching this at least give me some sort of idea. Well sort of. Brilliant video and God knows what we would do without RUclips and people like this, making the time and effort to share all their knowledge. Nice one. 👍😁
Of course one of these will be your problem. Anyone can open a book and list anything that could ever go wrong with a car. The whole point of being a competent tech is to pinpoint issues so you don't have to consider every random unlikely possibility. If you are still having the problem, list the details. I can't make any promises, but at the very least, I should be able to show you how to eliminate 95%+ of the issues on his list.
Just wanted to say thank you for this video. I know a little about cars but when I went through your whole video and got to the distributor information, it dawned on me that it must be the timing. Thanks again

You forgot to mention the most common intake system component of fuel injected cars. The idle air control valve is what really makes cars hesitate and not start along with stalling.
Thank you for the help and knowledge, we've been trying everything to get the idle fixed on my 1998 Silverado 1500 vortex. I'm sure with your video we can get it done!
Yes, he made another great instructional video, and it should help guide you. Also, check the coil & IAC, for your idle issues. I just replaced the coil on my 1989 Chevy K2500, now idles much better, hope this helps.
u are a gem - I appreciate the way you put ur video together - thank u so much, ur the 1st video that I've seen that makes the most sense, its never the same thing for different cars - I will return to this video many times im sure to double check myself. U def got my like!
Bought a 2006 chrysler crossfire 3 days back. Been stuffing up the day I got it. These issues as stated in the video. Codes are telling me it's the MAF fingers crossed it's that easy
@thisorthat7626 we might have fixed it. Cleaned all the air intake stuff, did the MAF and pretty much every electrical connection you can think off. Still no luck. Sent up to the local service station bought some fuel injector cleaner. Ran that through the petrol tank and now it's driving like a dream. The last owner had it for 7 years (80 year old lady, and she drove it pretty slow for short drives too) hopefully problem stays fix lmao (also the air filters were full of bug bits, feathers and sooooo much dust it was insane)
For a diesel engine: Blanking off the EGR was the fix on my diesel. The exhaust gas was screwing up the fuel mixture and causing a very very bad hesitation and a big puff of black smoke out the exhaust when trying to take off from a stand still. The ECU was not compensating for this and that hesitation was becoming dangerous. The blank plate was the only way to fix this problem. How can an engine be Euro 5 compliant when that happens? Maybe the testing for this is compliance is suspect? Until Foton/Cummins come up with an ECU update to compensate for this the blank plate is staying in place in my car!!!
Not what I understand as an 'Easy Fix' but very informative, keep up the good work.

Yes, he made another great instructional video, and it should help guide you. Also, check the coil & IAC, for your idle issues. I just replaced the coil on my 1989 Chevy K2500, now idles much better, hope this helps.
What a EASY FIX!love this video =)
u are a gem - I appreciate the way you put ur video together - thank u so much, ur the 1st video that I've seen that makes the most sense, its never the same thing for different cars - I will return to this video many times im sure to double check myself. U def got my like!
👍😊 Thanks Daniel!
Bought a 2006 chrysler crossfire 3 days back. Been stuffing up the day I got it. These issues as stated in the video. Codes are telling me it's the MAF fingers crossed it's that easy
Clean the MAF on a regular basis. It's easy and cheap. Good luck.
@@SLOP_JOCKS Good that you fixed the problem. And now you know that the electrical connections are clean. thanks for the update!
Great explanation video, thanks for putting that all together in a straight to the point video🤩
too many ifs getting tired of chasing false leads.
I like your teaching method! Top job😊 greetings from Australia! Just subbed 👍
Greetings Edmond from Australia. Australia seems like a really beautiful place. Thanks for subscribing!
I love your presentation. Great visuals and clear explanations! Will refer to you again.
Great video. This also started playing automatically and I genuinely thought it was Bob Odenkirk talking 😂
For a diesel engine:
Blanking off the EGR was the fix on my diesel.
So informative!!! Thank you so much and God bless you for sharing this.
I'm surprised you went over literally every possible thing that could be causing this issue. A like well deserved!
It is an easy fix once you have already replaced everything else that wasn't it 🤣🤣.
The information is great thanks .
That shit got me weak I guess I need another engine!!!
@wisdomoftruth0
No! You need another car!!! 😅🤣😂
