buckethead suffered from stage fright when he was young, but he always wanted to play for the public so he decided to put on a mask because he felt that then people wouldn't look directly at his face and it became part of his character and since then no one has seen Patrick Bryan Carroll's face
And as a curious fact regarding his facial gestures behind his mask, Buckethead commented in an interview that he has come to cry behind his mask, because when he plays the guitar he feels like he is communicating with his parents and that he misses them a lot.
There are plenty of images of his face online. Search "Buckethead face" or "Brian Patrick Carroll face" (note correct spelling of his real name). He apparently is very shy, soft-spoken and suffers from severe stage fright. Bottom line is he is an absolute top-tier guitarist.
Saw him shred for a couple hours in a little bar in Victoria, BC. Just him and a backing drum/rhythm track he played along to. He did his schtick of handing out toys like Santa during the show, etc
Buckethead (Brian Patrick Carroll) is a virtuoso guitarist and multi-instrumentalist and has played with many big name musicians including Guns n Roses from 2000-2004. He's also composed and played on many movie soundtracks. Apparently the mask was inspired after watching one of the Halloween movies and the bucket was a lark after having KFC for dinner one night and the two have been his thing ever since. Love him or hate him he is mesmerizing to watch.
Also, Star Wars and Johnny Sokko and His Flying Robot are two of his favorites. He even named his second album "Giant Robot". "Bucket Head" is a nickname for Stormtroopers (Star Wars) and the robot in Johnny Sokko and His Flying Robot also looked like he wore a "bucket" on his head. The Michael Myers mask came after the Leatherface mask he originally wore with Deli Creeps and if you notice, the Michael Myers mask is white and devoid of emotion, just like a Stormtrooper's mask. He is a very tall guy in real life, hence "Giant Robot". There are often multiple layers to the things he references in his "costume" style and music.
Bucket’s emotions are in his music. He has many variations of types of music if you don’t like this style. He has 435 studio albums. Yes. 435. It’s crazy.
@@diffbreak2366 645 pike albums, but probably close to 200 of those are live compilations. But he's also got 50 or so other albums prior to the pike series, so I'd say he's got approximately 500 albums of original music. Absolutely mind-boggling.
@@PongGod It is like he is constantly working on his next project and has really understood to how to do it by himself. Reminds me of Paul McCartney of the late 60s era.
Yes he is very tall and his guitar is larger than standard plus his finger spread is amazing, you should checkout more, he has made a lot of music, I think you will be amazed at how much he really has done.
The effect at 3:27 is a kill switch. It temporarily disconnects the output of the guitar for as long as you hold down on the button. So he was rapidly pressing it and letting it go.
For me the chicken bucket and mask is a simple artistic decision. Face does not matter, music is what matters. After multiple listens this performance hits you in the feels, it's part of the magic. Thanks for sharing
You can go to a Bickethead gig 100 times in a row, with the same setlist of songs. and NEVER hear the same song twice. The dude always does something new everytime he plays, he's a musical mastermind!
Not sure whether anyone else has commented on this, but this is perhaps his most well-known song, primarily due to it being featured on Guitar Hero. But more importantly, it was written as a dedication to his Aunt Suzie when she passed. She was the one who introduced him to guitar during his childhood.
It's funny how different people are. Some people post selfies every day on social media. Some people wear masks on stage while playing killer guitar. I prefer the humble approach. I've seen Buckethead a few times, and he's a tall, imposing man up there on stage. He's published over 300 albums in his life. Talented and prolific.
btw there was kind of a reason behind the kfc hat. Buckethead's "backstory" for his character is that he was raised by chickens in a chicken coop and he was trying to bring awareness to the genocide of his brethren perpetrated by kfc. He wound up getting sued and had to change to a plain white bucket on his head. Also, when he played guitar for guns n roses on chinese democracy album he built a chicken coop in the recording studio and refused to record for days when someone removed it
the band colonel claypool's bucket of bernie brains has a song with lyrics that outline the buckethead backstory so to say (buckethead, les claypool of primus, bernie worrell of parliament, brain of primus)
This man can process music faster than any CPU. He recorded more than 300 Albums on his own. 300! Just think of it! Even entire bands, if they're really good, release a max of 8 to 10
Buckethead shreds. But your right when he slows down and plays the slower parts it makes me weep sometimes he's the only person I know that can his guitar talk
his acoustic album is incredible. Rumor is he walked in picked up an acoustic, and did the entire album in one take. Its some of my favorite stuff by him although a few tracks are a little meh. Acoustic Shards is the name of the album btw. I think everyone should hear it once. Ive heard it a few hundred times now.
Buckethead is such a big guy Gibson (I think) made him a custom guitar that's like 15 percent bigger that their standard guitars. A normal guitar looks like a toy in his large hands.
I think a soothsayer is a seer, or fortune-teller. Shame that playing fast and showing technical ability doesn't always translate into artistry, becomes nondescript and fails to move you. You did well not to say what you really thought.
He's been performing wearing the bucket for around 30 years so I don't think he's going to give it up now. He was offered a job playing with Ozzy Osborne on the condition that he ditch the bucket and he declined. He's a strange dude for sure.
The best guitarist probably of All time he is super skilled
Forget the bucket and the mask. Watch his hands!
I watched his hands before. He has some crazy long fingers.
They remind me of face huggers from the alien films.
He has the best control over his pinky by far.
Probably why he wears the mask in the first place. "Focus on the music, not my goofy guitar face as I'm shredding."
in my little corner of the world, he is the greatest guitarist at this point in history.
In mine also!
Same he is the legend
The GOAT.
Same here

He has so many sides. So many genres. He is the only one who can make me cry with his music.
My favorite guitarist! Saw him about 7 years ago and he was amazing!
Beast of a guitarist plain and simple
He is a true virtuoso with incredible stage freight.
Saw him shred for a couple hours in a little bar in Victoria, BC. Just him and a backing drum/rhythm track he played along to. He did his schtick of handing out toys like Santa during the show, etc

Buckethead is the best Guitar Hero of the World... He drops crazy amazing Albums faster then you can hear it🤣😍🥰😘😘

Extraordinary thank you for reaction.😊🥰

a person supposed to be able to foresee the future, great guitarist,
Buckethead's music is life!!!
He's not human he's a robot raised by chicken's, love the guy a real guitar hero.

I often wonder how many people still haven't connected the dots that "Bucket Head" is a nickname for the Stormtroopers in Star Wars

You guys are sweet God bless you guys
Saw him live, one of the greatest nights of my life. Absolutely insane.

This was on Guitar Hero with Jordan?
He’s The GOAT plain and simple. Imop his best work is pike 65, you can actually hear his guitar crying.
It's funny how different people are.

Ome of the best gutarist of all time, he's my huge inspiration for me learning a guitar, still the this day he's the best for me, fucking best.
Buckethead and Kurt cobain are the best I’ve been playing for /29
All Brian's are amazing and extremely talented musicians/vocalists.
He’s 6 8 or something insane
Bucket on head, Mask on face, can shred harder then most people alive... he is Him
its outfit like any other musician has. this one is just keeping his identity more mysterious. You should see the masks Lordi has :D

Best shredder guitarist on the planet!!@ 😮
he wears a mask to not be recognized (crazy nah ? :p ) he's really shy and doesn't want to be bothered by being famous (if i understood ^^)
Shredding at its finest
This man can process music faster than any CPU. He recorded more than 300 Albums on his own. 300! Just think of it! Even entire bands, if they're really good, release a max of 8 to 10
Buckethead is a finger pointing to heaven... if you focus on the finger, you're missing the point... ✌️💙
Buckethead shreds. But your right when he slows down and plays the slower parts it makes me weep sometimes he's the only person I know that can his guitar talk
If you're worried about the bucket and the mask, shut your mouth, close your eyes and just listen.
he wears the mask cuz he is very SHY actually.
"I cant take Buckethead seriously cause he has a bucket on his head."
Proceeds to put foot in mouth

A soothsayer is a fortune teller.
Buckethead wears a KFC bucket as a weak attempt to make people think he is from planet Earth.
He’s a super sensitive guy he’s 6 8
Please listen to its original first version. It's more into it.
❤
I thought jeff healey was the best as he is blind .But hats off to this guy
Where have you been
Buckethead 22222222 reaction!!!
He was like Sia, who never let her face be shown for a long time! Its about Privacy I think...
Buckethead is such a big guy Gibson (I think) made him a custom guitar that's like 15 percent bigger that their standard guitars. A normal guitar looks like a toy in his large hands.
25% larger body
an odd dude for sure but an awesome guitar player
Just focus on the amazing talent this man has not the bucket and the mask.

Why is nobody recommending steely Dan
Ricky lost that number
@@jonfernandez4271 looks like you got me pegged..... Now I'm just reeling in the years
Not a close second to BuckEThead never will be. He has 30 lifetimes of music & counting
Not the best version but not bad
Emotional……hard to say it’s emotional with a damn bucket on his head…lol. I’m a guitar player and he is great but the bucket….has to go.
He's been performing wearing the bucket for around 30 years so I don't think he's going to give it up now. He was offered a job playing with Ozzy Osborne on the condition that he ditch the bucket and he declined. He's a strange dude for sure.
Kinda boring, like watching Slash
