    I couldnt resist trying out Sonoma. I downloaded the latest Nightly build of OCLP and got the latest version (23A344) Sonoma installed on my sons 2015 Macbook Air. The installation process was smooth and seamless exactly how you went through it in one of your videos. Multiple reboots with me having to do anything until I had to setup my account in Sonoma. So far so good. Thanks for all your videos.

    I'll wait a little longer because I work in the audio industry and have to be extra cautious, but when the first beta of Sonoma was released, I cloned my main SSD into an external one to test if all the software was compatible and everything worked fine, except for Loopback, which is an audio software I use occasionally.
    I believe that making a clone of your primary drive and updating it is one of the greatest practices for ensuring that you don't screw up your computer, especially if you work with it.

    Unfortunately I was too eager and tried to update last night ( before this video was released ), I completely messed up my 2016 MacBook Pro and spent four hours trying to revive it as it wouldn’t boot. Had to use recovery mode, delete the hard drive and reinstall Monterey. Left it this morning going through setup and will get back to it after work, hopefully it will be fine 🤞🏼

    Mr. Macintosh. I upgraded to Sonoma on both a M2 Mac Mini and M2 MacBook Air. Flawless install. Working great and I didn’t lose my start up chimes. I still can’t understand why this never installed on an external drive. When I tried that I had to DFU both machines.

    I was going to do an upgrade install last night on my 18,3 iMac with OCLP 0.6.9 beta. I went as far as making a USB installer, but decided not to do it. About an hour later I saw your video that V1.0.0 was imminent. Glad I waited. I will install it just as soon as V1 is out. Although my iMac is my main driver, I have a Macbook Air M1 as backup, so if the iMac goes awry I can use it while I rebuild the iMac. I'm also going to install it on an external TB drive (which is almost as fast as the internal drive). I'll use it for a while, then use recovery to clone it back onto the internal drive. Thanks for everything Mr. M and the Devs.
    Edit: a day later and last night I thought, wtf, let's just dive in. Installed Sonoma with OCLP 0.6.9 and it works awesome. No issues at all. I have a good TM backup so hopefully I won't have any issues when 1.0.0 comes out. But at this point, everything is working great.

    I love all the work you and the team does on supporting the older Macs! These machines are insanely expensive to only use for a few years and then throw away like Apple wants. I have a 2015 MacBook Pro 15-inch and also a 13-inch that I gave to my brother, updated to Ventura and running great with your instructions from your videos. One thing I have noticed with the new 1.0.0 OCLP is it still says root patches are available in spite of building and installing the new OCLP, then root patching to the 1.0.0. The app does show that root patching was last performed today with 1.0.0, which I did, but it still says patches are available for the dual video cards and FaceTime camera. I assume this is just an app glitch and the root patching actually happened. Just wanted to let y'all know about this!! :)

There sure is a lot of new stuff--some which I like some not, but that's always the case with updates or upgrades IMHO. When I had restarted manually, it did not upgrade, soI upgraded it again, and in the middle of that, the computer did it's own restart and everything was fine after that.

I don't understand why because it is supposed to support bluetooth and it seems no else else is having problems with the bluetooth.

    Thanks for the usual informative update sir. On a somewhat related topic, I seem to have recurring issues with any safari stand alone update lately. I am running Monterey via OCLP on a 2013 iMac and just updated to safari 17, only to get the usual error "A problem repeatedly occurred with ..." which means I cannot load a number of web pages and have to go to an alternate browser. Is there a way to fix this please.? I usually wait it out until a subsequent update comes along and it seems to magically go away.

    Love this channel, and I am a Patreon supporter to prove it! I have a 15-inch late 2015 MacBook Pro that runs Ventura 13.6 perfectly due to OCLP. But when I tried a clean OCLP install to Sonoma 14.0, the OS disabled the Mac's WiFi from the beginning of the instal. Big fail on my part!
    So I had to roll back with a clean install of Ventura 13.6.
    Has anyone else had the WiFi disabled on a clean 14.0 install?
    I have great faith in the team, so I await a fix to make this work.
    If anyone wants to suggest how I upload any details on my experience to Mr. Mac or OCLP, then please offer me some tips below. Thanks

      @Mr.Macintosh  10 месяцев назад

      Hello @stuchristie thank you so much for supporting my channel 👍 For your situation, when you mention wifi was disabled are you talking about recovery? If so it is not needed at that time as the install is coming from the USB drive. Or are you saying from when you first got to the Sonoma desktop ? If so did you install the post install root patches ?

    • @stuchristie
      @stuchristie 10 месяцев назад

      Hi @@Mr.Macintosh . Thanks for your reply and for your outstanding videos!!
      The WiFi is turned off for the first time when the new macOS Sonoma has installed itself, and it reboots itself for the first time and prompts me to select a country or region. The WiFi continues to be off a couple of screens later when macOS Sonoma asks me to select my Wi-Fi Network - but there are no Wi-Fi networks to select from as the wifi is off.
      With no wifi, there is no way for Sonoma to verify my iCloud account credentials, nor is there any way OCLP can complete post-install root patches.
      Once in the home screen, the Wi-Fi icon in the menubar is crossed out, and it won't let me turn it on. The same is true when I go to System Settings>>WiFi. So the only option is to roll back to Ventura by wiping the disk and doing a clean OCLP Ventura installation.
      I don't want to clog this comment board with my dilemma. Particularly as you do such a great job for 99.9999% of the community !! Perhaps I should wait for 14.1 and try again, or perhaps you can suggest an appropriate forum for me to pursue separately? Please forgive me if I am raising this query in the wrong forum.

    I'm not clear about what you mean re wallpapers causing macOS to go from 13 to 18GB and then saying that macOS size is not changing when you download a fresh wallpaper. If wallpapers need to be downloaded from the net that means they aren't bundled in the 18GB. So the 5GB increase would be bloatware. BTW you can see wallpapers you downloaded under Library>Application Support>..idleassetsd>Customer

    Hey Mr. Macintosh, I have an issue... After installing macOS Sonoma 14.1 Beta 2 (23B5056e) update on MacPro6,1 the system started, but then after applying the Post-Install Root Patch, the system does not boot anymore. It stops on the boot screen with the Apple logo, but without progress bar, and stays there not moving forward. How can I remove the Post-Install Root Patch to just boot the system without GPU support and other patches?

      @zenonbrak9607: Me too. I have an early 2011 MBP 15", and Sonoma 14.0 was fine. With the latest update, 14.1 beta 3, it installs fine but when I run OCL Patcher 1.0.1, it installs something called KDK Build Kit 23A5337A. Once installed and you boot, then bada bing, stuck on the Apple logo. This is a test box so no stress here, but Monterey worked just fine, Ventura was OK, and Sonoma 14 was installed but was sluggish.

      @@frankgarcia8418 it's exactly what happened to me. It installed `KDK Build Kit` and stopped booting. I tried to recover from this using Time Machine/Migration Assistant, but it turns out OCLP and Time Machine is not compatible on both Ventura and Sonoma. On the last phase of Time Machine/Migration Assistant recovery it goes into a boot loop. To overcome that you wipe the drive, install fresh Monterey and then use Time Machine/Migration Assistant recovery because it works correctly. From that you can then easily upgrade to Ventura or Sonoma. Hope that helps. Remember to always have a backup!

    The blinking blue line when entering a field to make a comment such as this is driving me crazy. It is thick and distracting. Is there anyway to turn this back to a thin black line like it was before?
