The boot log is not normally displayed, but around 16 years ago I possessed a MacBook Pro (one with a magic exploding battery), and configured it to display the boot log. Like Linux. You should be able to configure the EFI BIOS to prefer the external disk.
Personally, I wouldn't trust those premade isos. You never know what people put in these. I would rather recommend using clean macos file and OpenCore (or using a real mac, but that's obviously not the point of Hackintosh lol)

Hello Sam. Great video for many reasons about saving money not to mention. The material side, but the most important thing in my opinion is the use of a little older hardware that works very well under other operating systems. One request, can you make a video about installing OSX on a regular PC step by step. There are many videos on that topic, but it seems to me that they are either too fast or skip something. I think it would be a great hit for everyone, because people are learning while he is alive.
Pretty painless for your first hackintosh! I got into the weeeeds getting all the correct kexts installed to get mavericks running back in the day (: quite a trip down memory lane, glad I have a Mac mini now… same form factor as that lil guy but INSANE power with the apple silicon chip inside
One thing I will say is I would not trust a random OS image downloaded off the internet, if you are going to do this you should use the OpenCore tool as it downloads direct from Apple, using some random OS image is very dangerous and honestly creating your own EFI is actually not as hard as it used to be, all that being said I know it was not your intent to lead people down a dangerous path, I really hope you attempt patching MacOS the proper way so you don't end up putting your data at risk

I got Sonoma working on my old Windows PC, it was easy enough BUT there are no instructions in plain English on how to update. So whilst it seems simple it will never have security updates in which case I might aswell just stay on Windows 10.
this video is not a great one and here’s why. The reason there’s a written guide for OpenCore and not just a tutorial like this it’s because hardware differs a lot. When you download an EFI from the web, you’re not looking in what it’s in there, there could be some malicious stuff and you wouldn’t even notice. Or maybe the EFI would work on your machine but it hasn’t been updated in years. All of these issues wouldn’t exists when you make the EFI yourself. The Dortania guide explains EVERYTHING you need to install macOS, and when you learn to install it, you know how to update stuff and make EVERYTHING work so yeah, even tho you might be able to run macOS like this, if you made your own pc, or own a laptop, or god knows what your machine quirks are, it’s unlikely that a perfect EFI exists for your machine already
Don’t use premade isos and prebuilt efis because they can be tinkered to work with a different configuration than the one on your computer. Simply use macrecovery to make a macOS recovery dmg, and use SSDTTime to generate SSDTs, download kexts and drivers that are required for your build, and last but not least, RTFM
SIMPLY? From what I gather, nothing about creating a Hackintosh is simple. Using some random pre-made images and such like is a huge security risk, unless you already know the source can be trusted, but if you isolate it from your other computers and don't entrust it with any personal data, you can play around with MacOS. You really shouldn’t use precompiled images because you have no clue if they contain malicious code in them and you should always use a factory image, compile your own SSDTs and install only well known and supported kexts.

I hear you more in one ear than the other. Pro tip for voice audio: choose just the best channel, left or right. Then it will always be in the center - assuming your video editing software can do it. 8)
Nice video. The issue is, you say you want people to download the fie from you, well you have it behind a payload. The site you use wants people to sign up for an account. The site won't let you download the file because of the size. It starts but then you get a download error message saying you've reached the quota, and they want you pay to download it.
@@Sezamn as long as you are able to use the apps you want in offline mode you don’t really need support. People are still using power pc machines and apps so should be no different on a hackintosh.
Old computers don't stop working just because they don't get official updates. There is a huge and thriving retro computer community, covering pretty much every old and obsolete computer, be it via actual hardware or emulation. Some things are done just for fun, for the sake of it, out of curiosity.

It depends if you are using the igpu. That is not supported on any AMD chip. The CPU itself is usually supported with some workarounds. I've never tried myself though

Unfortunately, he's not sharing his EFI and other details. Since Honor isn't a popular laptop brand, there are almost no resources available for this machine, so I'll have to figure it out on my own.
It's worth it if you want to try something different. The Linux kernel is great, but Linux distros are a bewildering, inconsistent, minefield, where distros come and go in a flash and they all do things slightly differently. Linux is much improved, but it still hasn't completely lost it's "geek" factor... there's a bigger learning curve, and generally it's still not as user friendly as Windows or MacOS.
Help yourself... do a Google search on the internet and find a proper forum, one that either already has the answer, or where you can ask for help. RUclips comments aren't the best place to ask for help, especially for highly detailed technical information.

how is the performance on doing some productivity softwares (free ones) like video editing or image/raster editing? compared with just using it on the original opti 9020 with windows
I used Adobe premiere Pro, and attempted to use final cut though I have never used it before and admittedly did a terrible job lol Both of those applications ran okay and rendered a 10min video decently fast

Any AMD GPU even super old ones would work. The one that would probably work best is a RX 6800 XT or similar, WX series cards should work pretty good as well.
Look, it’s hilarious Hackintoshing, just to middle finger Apple. But at this level, it makes no sense. A 2014 Mac mini comes in at around the same as a Dell 9020, and you don’t get WiFi issues, or audio issues, bla bla. No, save the Hackintosh pc for the truly high end Mac pros….except for those 2019 Mac pros going for 12000 are now in the 2 to 3 thousand price ranges! I’ve seen new old stock so cheap…. No, the truly wonderful thing about the Hackintosh community, especially the Open Core development is the ability to use legacy Mac hardware to run current Mac OS. And that is way cool :)

Because macOS has macOS exclusive applications and features that you're unable to get on Linux or Windows And yes, you can just buy a Mac if you don't want to spend some time working on a hackintosh but you won't be able to natively run windows and will have trouble running Linux (what I just said applies to the Apple SoC Macs such as m1-m3)
Because AirPlay, Handoff, iMessage, FaceTime, iCloud Drive, Final Cut, and various other programs are only for Macs. Linus is not the end all be all of operating systems

Linux as an OS is a mass of inconsistent distros, there's no ONE standard, they aren't even all directly compatible with each other's applications, never mind the UI, software repositories etc. Having to revert to using a terminal app to enter arcane strings of text is reminiscent of the old MSDOS and pre 2000 Windows days. I don't want to revisit them a quarter of a century later. 😂

Most people don’t know how to compile them hence using premade.

remove -v from boot-args from config plist file in oc folder so verbose wont apear

nice! with that efi, you should be able to use normal macos with it :), u can make a macos recovery usb or use a vm to make full installer

Here's one possible use case: developing iOS apps. You can't develop iOS apps on any platform other than macOS.
