- Blades are made by the method of forge welding in a container of motorcycle clutch cables. Using pure iron powder and black pepper - for sharpness. At the cutting edge steel is 10, zone hardening is 59-60 units.

#DamascusSteel - Наука
I'd love to see these finished with a handle. They're beautiful.
He never does that, duh. Omg so stupid smh. Get with it dud
@@HermetHelmet uhm... mean
First time I watched one of his videos I got to the end and was like wait... Where is the handle?!?
@Diego Méndez
He doesn't seem to understand what it means to be nice & tolerant to others as Shurap always says in the video description. I'm surprised that his abusive comment has lasted 7 months instead of being banned as everyone is warned will happen if they break the rules like he has.

Ah, now I know who stole the bowden cables of my motorcycle...
But it was definitely worth it!
Looks like a picture of cell walls under a microscope.. very interesting nice work I bet you'll get a pretty penny for that one
Love this man, looks great! Also appreciate the way you moved the pattern along the edge steel, true talent
Pattern is awesome
I absolutely LOVE that pattern!!!!!!!
Magnificent work sir. :-)
The pattern is one of the most interesting I've seen. It would make a fantastic combo with a handle made from the trunk of a 'Punga' tree/palm, though you may struggle to find such wood in your part of the globe...... unfortunately it seems to be a native only from my home country New Zealand........ but it was worth a mention, as the two patterns are so alike eh.
I'm gonna just say I love you. Its a thing of beauty to witness man and nature coming together in the shed.
This is like "How It's Made", but delightfully over and over again showing different projects of sheer interest. Awesome!🙏🇺🇸💪
This guy blows my mind with these blades! Pure artist
Go watch Alec Steele. This guy is good, but Alec does stuff that is outrageous.
yeah he's good too, but i can't stand his act, way to hyperactive this kid.
True
Why the pepper
comedic purpose
Cheers from Seattle US. Great work.
Absolutely incredible pattern!
Almost looks like computer circuit boards!
Great video thank you.
You sir have blown my mind!!
Awesome work keep it up!!
Forged in Fire

LOVE ALL YOUR WORK!
Thanks
👍
Greetings from Croatia !!!!!!!! You are the best !!!!!!!
Your videos are always satisfying to watch. Me, my brother, and Uncle were talking about this earlier today.
They are all beautiful, but you've really outdone yourself on this one. I feel like I could stare at that thing all day
Como sempre, mais uma linda lâmina... PARABÉNS !!!
I wish I had a clue as to what all this process is but I sure do enjoy the process and you sir are a true craftsman. Thank you from the US
Ok..everytime I watch one of your videos I'm blown away.... hands down some of the coolest blades on RUclips. I hope collectors pay big bucks for your work. U HAVE TRULY MASTERED YOUR CRAFT SIR.
What is the deal with the ground pepper and chili peppers?
Impressive as always
I’ll take #2 that middle pattern is amazing! Really great work on this video! Your craftsmanship is truly inspiring. Well done.
Absolutely beautiful work Brother, that's pure craftsmanship !
Ive watched like 20 of these so far today, this is like asmr to my eyes.
fantastic!
I think I have watched every one of your videos. Some of the best forging I have ever seen.
Those look absolutely stunning! Awesome job!!
Honestly most interesting thing I've seen on RUclips
I love your videos... Beautiful work of art!!! Im wondering how the damask steel knives you made hold up to edge retention tests? Are they ever compared with known high quality knife steels?
keep up the good work
I know this is an old question, but unless the damascus is being made with already high quality steels (which a lot of Shurap's aren't since he's making them out of like, wires and screw and whatnot) the edge is a separate piece of metal. You can see in this video that's also the case
beautiful work, best I have ever seen in a very long time.
You need to go to the show forged and compete you do very beautiful work.

The quality of your work is outstanding!!!!!
I find your videos Almost therapeutic and after a trying day I will actually hunt your channel and watch videos and it's very soothing

Absolutamente Preciosos !!
if I had access to all that equipment...great job, artist job!!!
Beautiful craftsmanship!
0:18 - Salt and pepper . Everything is as it should be!
Adding a little carbon to the steel when it burns inside the canister. The guy definitely knows his salt and pepper when it all boils down.
True master can make anything from everything!😁👍
Another amazing piece of art!
I'd like to see the final result with handles!
Yeah, me too
Damascus steel require a blue resin handle with pattern
Around the 4:50 mark, when you use the sanding wheel to clear the scale, how does it hold the blade down? I've seen it in your videos as well as others and it got me curious. Is it Magnetic?
Chris Adams Yes magnetic vice
Yes, they answered correctly
I wondered that at the 2:15 part. First time I seen it and it's cool. Must be electromagnetic like the door locks.
no its not, it is mechanical, just magnets
Chris Adams whatever you do don't turn the magnet off while using it... it's fun... but it's a terrible idea
Unparalleled intricacy. Very well done.
Wow, this is one AMAZING skill to have. 👍🇺🇸 too make such a beautiful strong thing.
Dude those are Beautiful and amazing

I do like your idea for many reasons...
this job is not only craftsmith,it is Art in same time
Every piece is a work of art. Just one of his knives would be the pentacle of anyone's collection.I Would love to have one.
Why do we never see him but a handle on it???
Bangin' Gears clients buy the blade later and he puts handles on them that they want.
Yes....finish this is nice work...a handle & scabbard
Amazingly these things were created long before the invention of the hydraulic press and hammer. Gives a whole new appreciation for the old cliché "elbow grease".⚒ [Laffin'😄]
Beautiful work love concistincy andfinish
You are the best... Brazil.

Your work is flawless!!!
One of these days, this man will make me a hawkbill and it's gonna be glorious.
Maybe even a nice tanto.
The pattern reminds me of a cross section of fossilized dinosaur bone.
i concur, or of cells during mitosis
Very much so. Was thinking of skin cells, dino hide. Very cool!
I'm an 80's kid so I saw either goggles or turtle masks.
Definetly. Ever seen opalised dinosaur bone? I have lol :P
or turtle shell
The second round of this competition is over!!!👐
Some fresh pepper for your steel, sir?
Please and thank you!🙏🇺🇸👍
It's for sharpness :)
I don't understand the pepper?
@@ropert888 In russian 'hot' (pepper) and 'sharp' are the same words
Ill remember that, thank you
Beautiful workmanship.
my man always makes the spiciest damask
Lol he put pepper in it again
what is the pepper for
for sharpness. its a russian joke, in russian the word for spicy is the same as the word for sharp.
I already giggled a little but now that I realise its a pun I'm dying lmao
Hilarious. I thought it was to increase the carbon content, and wondered why it was not all the way through the 1080
i guessed it was to soak up oxygen, like some guys use paper in the foil pack when heat treating,
Wish you’d go out for the tv show Forged in Fire. Id be fun to see what you can do in a few hours

Works of art by a top craftsman.
I like how he squeezes out the slag every time.
I wish I could send you a better camera to use! but you know being a broke college student I can hardly afford food lol
Camera seems fine to me lol. Go Pullman!
sometimes life gets hard and you gotta sell your butt
Nice way to recycle skill at work👍
Since i started watching these types of videos ive never knew wtf they spice it up for
it's a bit of a joke, from what i can tell.
Sharp and Spicy are the same word in Ukrainian / Russian apparently
👍👍👍🔪
Beautiful metal but still not Damascus steel
Tls papa this is pattern welded steel, or "modern" damascus if you will. The methods of makingtraditional damascus, or Wootz crucible steel, was lost to time.
damascus=/=wootz steel (as you've said damascus is welded steel and wootz is crucible steel). also making wootz (or bulat, pulad etc.) isn't "secret lost in time", youtube has plenty of videos of making crucible steel (mostly forging "ulfberht" type of swords, which were made of crucible steel), you can check for yourself.
Suit of armor in Damascus steel would be incredible
Nice job. Looks amazing.
Come on, man...pattern welded steel. No one makes Damascus any more, no one knows how..
Don't be that guy
Don't be that guy to tell him not to be that guy.
You really do beautiful work brother.
This American think he is a true master for he does. I really love his videos.
love your work mate would love to purchase a piece as a gift for my father as he is a blade enthusiast and your work is truly fine
Nice knife.
Twist the cables!!
Amazing work, it would be nice if more of the steps were described for viewers like myself who dont know much of the whole process
Another beautiful piece.
I wish he showed how sharp the blades are in all the vids. With steel that well made, they have to be like giant razors.
