    Hi. I started to train volleyball since a few months and when I started to see your videos I got better my Spike. The thing is when I play it is very different, lastly on the training I spike very good but on the game is very slow or is like I didn't hit the ball and just carry it. The thing is, I want know if you can give a tip for this. a lot of people told me is because I need more experience playing, but I feel it's because on the training I always know the ball will go to me and on the game I don't know when this will be happen and I react to late.
    thanks for read this anyway, great videos and sorry if I have bad English, I'm learning yet.

    Thank you for this video! Playing since I was years old but had to stop because of health ish and operation. after 10 long years, started playing again (and competing in Mixed Volleyball) but lost my high jumping ability which means slightly lost my timing, too. :( Hehe. This video will surely help me get back on track. :)

    what would you recommend in terms of jump training for someone who's never lifted weights in the past and who has just started playing volleyball?

    • @bobthebuilder2510
      @bobthebuilder2510 8 лет назад +5

      I think you should mostly work on doing strength training first like deadlifts, squats etc to build muscle and explosiveness in your lower body and then move on to box jumps and other plyometric exercises

    Hey Coach Donny,
    I really enjoy watching your channel because there are tons of information I am interested in. Its hard for a 30yo that has recently started playing volleyball to learn and improve in the game without a teacher, so I am really thankful that you share your knowledge and experience with all of us!!!! Thank you for coaching us through the web, really :)
    I would like to know some personal facts about you, if you dont mind answering. I know you are 5'9/1,80cm but what do you weight and whats your body fat percentage? (and if it varies during the year whats the peak and whats the normal/worst) How often are you working out/stretching/running/playing volleyball during a week and do you have breaks during the year?
    I dont know but isnt every successful sportsman somehow deeply involved into good and healthy nutrition? im sure you could make another playlist for that topic without any research just by sharing your daily routines. Atleast I'd be very interested in knowing them! And i dont mean supplements, im talking meals.
    Thanks in advance, keep up the good work! you are awesome

    i also do jump training alot, i m at 54inches vertical box jup with 5.7'', but after plyo excercies my knee hurts right under the kneecap
    thanks

  • @phitphastwithphil1127
    @phitphastwithphil1127 8 лет назад

    Do you realize that at a certain point on your box jumps you're not actually jumping any higher? Your knees are coming up higher so you can get your feet up to land but your hips are at the same distance from the ground.

    • @phitphastwithphil1127
      @phitphastwithphil1127 7 лет назад

      So your limited flexibility keeps your hips from getting higher from the ground but allows you to raise your knees to get higher?

  • @b0unce805
    @b0unce805 7 лет назад

    I'm right handed, but the left handed approach for spiking feels more natural. I also get more height that way...should I keep doing it that way? Or should I learn the other way?

      also, if i am not exposed to many different weights, can i just stick with a specific amount of weight, even when i could lift heavier ones?
      Will it still help to increase my strength by only adding reps and sets, or i would not get stronger without using heavier weights?
