True, but if they knew an ISD was going to show up, what was the point? The loss of a few fighters and the need to repair some cargo haulers is barely noticeable for an organization as vast as The Empire. The Rebels lost a couple of precious fighters, which they desperately need and can't afford to waste.
Possible explanations: a) A feint designed to draw away the Imperial cruiser from its post. b) The Gazontis held supplies for which delaying their arrival was mission critical in and of itself. c) The Rebels DID want to board/capture, but got word of the cruiser just in time. d) An inexperienced, overconfident, or glory-seeking Rebel commander chose to risk engaging with a real sense of tactical advantage but less regard for losses in the big picture. e) Getting a sense of the Imperial response time was mission-critical and they jumped out the literal first second they had a reading on an approaching ship. I’ve seen a few TV shows seem to indicate one can detect ships approaching with about 5 seconds advance notice, especially if you are expecting them. My wacky theory is that this is the time-dilation as the ship drops below E, arrives back in realspace, and faces realspace physics. It actually takes 3-6 seconds, which to the rapidly-decelerating pilots feels like only a second or so. f) Maybe, maybe your premise is off. I saw the rebels lose only 1 A-Wing against 8 TIEs and crippling, for a while, 2 Gazontis. That seems a lot like many successful guérilla ambushes in military history. The rebels were terribly outgunned in large, full-on warships but the Empire was deeply unpopular. Not counting fighters, the totality of ALL resistance to their rule may have meant that rebels of any and every stripe totaled a LARGER total number of ships - albeit smaller, less sophisticated, and less unified command to start.
Conner Clark all very good points! This story could go in many directions from here. I felt like the cargo was fragile, and now it’s too damaged to use. They didn’t completely destroy their objectives, but they did shoot through the roof and destroy the cargo. And they had some knowledge of when this meeting was to take place, and got there first, knowing the big ship would show up, they hit and run. Or perhaps the cargo ships sent out a distress call as soon as they attacked, and seeing this distress call go out, they knew about how much time they had. Short films like this are great! As they allow the imagination to work, and let each viewer write their own story. Maybe the rebels had a Jedi amongst them, who sensed through the force that the cruiser was coming?! Even more thrilling.

A-Wings are that small. If you watch the hangar scene on Home One in Return of the Jedi you will see an A-Wing sitting near the Falcon and a Y-Wing, they really are tiny.
I like how it shows that rebel ships even when outnumbered are dangerous. They weren't using old worn out weapons but modern fighters that were more than a match for a Tie.
Ngl it’s the best fan films I’ve ever seen. And trust me I’ve seen a lot. Wait, second best. The maul film was better but his looks so good! It seems like a clip from Star Wars rebels but with much better graphics. Great work my friend! :)
Something to keep in mind: Your ships all have multiple turrets and cannons. Keep in mind the sight lines and how many weapons can see the target, and then fire them. It kinda takes you out of the emotion of the fight if you're only ever firing one weapon at a time.
Maybe the power levels of the main/secondary reactors can't provide enough to fire all weapons at once, so you have to choose slow firing main guns or faster firing secondary guns? Just a rationalization.
@@KentonBenfield Well we know that isn't the case, since these ships have been shown to fire more than one gun at once. Plus, what would be the point of having more than one weapon if you can't use them all?
@@LordVader1094 Some could be for defence against fast moving targets like squadrons, others to be used in dreadnaught vs dreadnaught attacks where the tiny cannons would be useless and therefore it is a waste to have a larger reactor to power them all, because there isn't often a situation where you could or would have the manpower to be able to use all the guns at once. Another reason could be that they are diverting more power to the shields. In other scenarios the shields are useless because of the magnitude of the enemy weapons or the size of the attacker and you could divert all power to the guns. If you were a lone ship attacking the death star on its own, you wouldn't have much need for shields giving the power of the superlaser, and you would use more energy for propelling yourself around the death star to the other side of the superlaser and for firing the guns. And small anti-squadron defence guns would be useless against a death star.
Yep. I mean, at 1:19 you can see three other gun turrets just...sitting there. I would have chosen a different shot, maybe a POV from over the firing turret or something.
I think they shouldn't but should definitely list the the side do to imbalance of thrust. Maybe starting to do so depending to blast points/engine alignment.
If the engines get damaged enough to flame out and explode, that could impact enough force to send the ship into a slow spin as its thrusters go offline
@@renaissancenovice7202 Totally agree, even when a starfighter gets hit by its engines it wouldn't go down so easily. For example, an X-wing has 4 thrusters yet one blast does not disable or blow up the entire fighter it can still fly but without some way to steer it.
While I can suspend my disbelief for sounds in space and banking in flight since George did want to feel like a WW2 dog fight. I cannot accept the falling of ships like we see in TLJ. Ships don’t fall in space. Don’t have large ships start falling down when they lose engines. There’s no reason for it, they’d just keep coasting in the same direction they were going. The only time ships might “fall” is if they’re over a planet or a body of large mass.
I thought the same thing, but I remembered Darth Vaders ship in Return Of The Jedi. Also, as the main engines are destroyed, there might be manouvering thrusters that start to malfunction, causing a change in attitude.
@@johnmccnj In regards to that scene in ROTJ, the Dtar Destroyer was over both the moon of Endor and the Death Star II so I’m assuming the mass of both objects pulled it down.
Excellent work! I have some minor quibbles, but I'm not going to mention them out of respect for the amount of work you put into this and the fine result you achieved.
Basically 2 minutes of the empire getting kicked in the ass. Amazing work, I would love to be able to do something like this but I don’t even know where to start.
It looks amazingly good. I found only one little oddity blatantly out of place- the TIE Fighter @1:35 is not scaled down for distance and looks enourmous beside the A-Wing. But overall a bloody great short!
If he was using a wide angle lens, then distant objects wouldn't look too much smaller than near objects. It's a cinematic trick that helps pull the viewer into the action. However, it relies on having a background to scale against, which is probably why it looks a bit odd here. Stars are a poor background to shoot moving action against.
It is not a lens or background issue, the a wing is superimposed on top of the Tie Fighter and is as small as the engine housing. At first I thought it had gone in front of the Tie Fighter and was shooting backwards at it because the a wing was so much smaller and in the distance but somehow gotten composited on top of the Tie Fighter
The A-wing is a tiny craft. Most people overestimate its size and assume it is rendered or shown too small when it is actually to scale. The A-wing can easily fit inside the wingspan of a Tie Fighter.
@@holden88 naw.... there is no excusing this size discrepancy. If you watch it the a wing is so small that it would fit within the cockpit of the Tie Fighter and the pilot would have to be one foot tall. It was merely a composition error, the a-wing should have been behind the Tie Fighter and explosion not in front of it from our point of view.
@@Jack_Stafford Huh? At 1:35 you can see the A-wing behind the Tie Fighter and blowing it up. It is clearly sized correctly here (just fitting inside the Tie Fighter panels). At no point can I see is it "so small that it would fit within the cockpit of the Tie Fighter". What are you looking at?
Shields - they has it. I’m so glad to see new SW material that remembers this fact. Much as I love Rebels and Clone wars, every laser blast that makes contact seems to just tear into ant ship.
Why is it your stuff feels like it comes from 1980 and are rejected scenes from Empire? Whatever modeling effects you're using is on-point. Good Job and keep it coming!
Thank you! I can't take credit for modeling, however - a lot of it is done by others - especially the wonderful Corellian gunship by Howard Day! I'm more of an animator, than anything.
I'm just saying, usually during a Cargo Raid, you want to actually steal the Cargo, it just seemed like they disabled two Gozanti's and left at the cost of 1 A-Wing
@@tomaskops7119 Yep, disabling the cargo ships or destroying the cargo with minimal losses on their side is still a win for the Rebels. Now repeat 100 times and the Imperial Navy has a big problem. If they're flitting about chasing commerce raiders, they're not tracking down and destroying the Rebel fleet.
Wait, the Rebels don’t steal the cargo? They don’t even destroy the ships to prevent the Empire from recovering the cargo with a detoured patrol?? That’s just delaying the inevitable!! . . . And the ending proves it! That ISD can just swoop in and recover the cargo; barely any time lost! Just the cost of replacing the TIEs & repairing the Gozanti’s.. :/
I love it too, and I love it more after watching Rebels and getting all the references. This clip here now, it might as well be a cut scene from Rebels, maybe a Phoenix Squadron jaunt… In my head, after the Battle of Scarif, I'm pretty sure that the Ghost flew down at the end and snatched Jin and Cassian off the beach… Hera was always doing stuff like that.
You really get a good idea of how powerful the Advanced A-wings are, and why they would play such a pivotal role in the Battle of Endor. The TIEs might have more cyclic firepower and better shields (and the ability to launch proton torpedoes, as well), but those cannons on the A's ... brutal! Plus, their maneuverability is on par with the X-wing stalkers. Really, they're that good!
I really like the design of the ships. It feels "Starwarsy" and the imperial freighters are absolutely spot on! The idea of being their own "escort carrier" with piggyback-TIEs is awesome.
First, just want to say that I love this. It's a wonderful little short. I do personally dislike the trope of ships "falling" when they get damaged in space, but I also get that it is a pre-existing element of Star Wars... so I can't really fault you for it. Big thumbs up. Subscribed and eager for more.
I thought it was really good, all I would say is it’d be awesome to get some closeups of the command ship (like in the bride), like commanders shouting out orders and such
Great! I love how hi tech space battles and 18th Century naval battles have exactly the same tactical strategy. Just pull up next to the other ship and shoot your cannons into them until one sinks.

Also noticed that the guided missile corvettes aren't shooting guided missiles!
A-Wings are that small. If you watch the hangar scene on Home One in Return of the Jedi you will see an A-Wing sitting near the Falcon and a Y-Wing, they really are tiny.
I love that suppressed entry sound bite when the destroyer came out of hyper speed ❤️
I love the ending. 1:52: The reinforcements have arrived.......oh no... I am so getting fired for this
I LOVE this. make more please. Very inspirational and impressive. You deserve more support. more subscribers. more views
Well, I don't understand why this doesn't have 8,000,000 views and George hasn't called you to help him remake episodes 7,8 and 9. Great work. :)
This is like, the ultimate typical rebel attack. Imagine this same thing multiplied by a thousand. That's how the rebels won.
Battle of the Dreadnoughts Is also great. What was the anime one, Tie Fighter or something. There's just so many great ones.
SC38 reimagined is by far the best
And the one with Nihlus had to be one of the worst.
The Lightsaber fight with the constant spins.
It was more of a Beyblade fight.
Wonderful! All ships aren't static but moving around! Nice
Something to keep in mind:
Your ships all have multiple turrets and cannons.
Its so nice to see some older designs showing up again.
Isn’t it weird when taking out the engines, the ship plummets down? Weird right?
BP_CherryBlossomTree no if the reactor is close to them or all the stabilizer engines are connected to the main engine some how
I think they shouldn't but should definitely list the the side do to imbalance of thrust. Maybe starting to do so depending to blast points/engine alignment.
If the engines get damaged enough to flame out and explode, that could impact enough force to send the ship into a slow spin as its thrusters go offline
@@pretzelbomb6105 exactly, I'd love to see a bunch of that
@@renaissancenovice7202
Totally agree, even when a starfighter gets hit by its engines it wouldn't go down so easily. For example, an X-wing has 4 thrusters yet one blast does not disable or blow up the entire fighter it can still fly but without some way to steer it.
The Corellian Gunship deserves more love than it gets. Keep it up!
Fabulous work. You guys should be in charge of putting together cut scenes for the next X-wing game, which is the highest compliment I can think of.
That is either a huge TIE Fighter or a really small A-Wing at 1:35, but really nice visuals! Beautiful job!
I thought exactly this thing, why when star destroyer loosing engines or electricity it start aiming down!?!?
I thought the same thing, but I remembered Darth Vaders ship in Return Of The Jedi. Also, as the main engines are destroyed, there might be manouvering thrusters that start to malfunction, causing a change in attitude.
@@johnmccnj
In regards to that scene in ROTJ, the Dtar Destroyer was over both the moon of Endor and the Death Star II so I’m assuming the mass of both objects pulled it down.
The quality and sound is so good on these.
AMAZING VIDEO!!! More like attack and destroy 2 gozanti but still amazing
I like to think of it as the Rebel's battle doctrine working as intended. that force would've been wiped out if that Star Destroyer came in sooner
Actual dogfights. Something strangely missing from recent big screen battles I feel. Excellent!
When STar Trek Is over with and this is all you have for Space battles to watch
Liked and subbed :)
Awesome effects, I love the use of lesser-known ships from this universe.
I'm just saying, usually during a Cargo Raid, you want to actually steal the Cargo, it just seemed like they disabled two Gozanti's and left at the cost of 1 A-Wing
They picked up that there was a Star Destroyer inbound an aborted the raid.
Or they just target cargo to destroy it.
Thats great, left me wanting more expecting some live action or something. great premise for a short and really COOL ship designs.
Rebel scums!
This was just wonderful bro :D
Best space battle was over Scariff in Rogue One...IMHO
I love it too, and I love it more after watching Rebels and getting all the references. This clip here now, it might as well be a cut scene from Rebels, maybe a Phoenix Squadron jaunt…
In my head, after the Battle of Scarif, I'm pretty sure that the Ghost flew down at the end and snatched Jin and Cassian off the beach… Hera was always doing stuff like that.
That was awesome man the rebels were like 10 seconds away from death and destruction. Star ship scenes is soo underrated 🔥💯✅👈🏿
It’s called hentai, *AND ITS ART*
Amazing work. Happy to see animation and work go towards SW. SW itself has so much room to expand upon. :)
LOVE IT!!!!! True Fans of Star Wars right there!
Absolutely awesome! Amazing work, keep it coming!
Magnificent space battle. I get rebel vibes of the finest caliber watching this 😀
Wow, this is really impressive work. I love the motion blur of the background stars, it really sells the harsh turns of the fighters.
I love the Hyperspace sound, very nicely done:)
Great work on the models of the space ships and the animation/cgi was great! Good sound design and vfx overlays! Amazing work
This is amazing! Awesome work
Very nice use of the gozanit class cruisers.
Nice use of sparks and debris in this one.
I love the Rebel ship designs. First saw them through Howard Day.
Eckhart's Ladder sent me. Love the work, keep it up!
This is your best one yet. Love seeing A wings. Speed up the fighters just a little more and I think you've got it.
I really like the design of the ships.
It feels "Starwarsy" and the imperial freighters are absolutely spot on!
The idea of being their own "escort carrier" with piggyback-TIEs is awesome.
Star wars Rebels show this type pf freigthers
@@Deliciousfoodofficer Ok, cool. I didn´t know that. Thanks!
Some nice dynamic shots! Good job!
First, just want to say that I love this. It's a wonderful little short. I do personally dislike the trope of ships "falling" when they get damaged in space, but I also get that it is a pre-existing element of Star Wars... so I can't really fault you for it. Big thumbs up. Subscribed and eager for more.
I thought it was really good, all I would say is it’d be awesome to get some closeups of the command ship (like in the bride), like commanders shouting out orders and such
I've really grown to love those alternate Corvette designs, they fit so organically alongside the roster of OT Rebellion ships.
Dude this is some awesome content. Great job dude
Man, I envy your talent. Loved it
Great! I love how hi tech space battles and 18th Century naval battles have exactly the same tactical strategy. Just pull up next to the other ship and shoot your cannons into them until one sinks.
Nice one guys. Really enjoyed watching.
I love how the ship starts going down after it’s engines had been shot, as if there was gravity XD No troll, 100% awesome work btw.
Ahhhhhh, this is awesome.
Very well made. This deserves much more views than it currently has (68K views).
The modelling on all those ships is great. I’m hungry for more.
