  • The B-Wing Mark 2 is an established ship in Star Wars canon, but we've only ever seen its cockpit. Two years ago, I imagined what the rest of the ship might look like. Now, I've revisited this design to give it more depth and detail.

Someone probably has already said this, but having a bubble turret on the back suddenly make the rotating cockpit make more sense. Now the B-wing can do barrel roll-like maneuvers without pulling the rear gunner off target as much.

I just looked up "Death Raven B-Wing" and found some images. Way back, I made some (not very impressive) images of something similar. I put the two B-Wings together around a single non-rotating cockpit (that could eject as an escape capsule), much like the Death Raven, but I removed the long wings on the outside. I figured it would be an H-Wing or something. Someone did some nice (for the time) renders of them for me, including an animated GIF of it rotating and folding/unfolding the S-Foils. (I have no idea who made them for me now.) I wish I could find the images. I'd love to see a more modern render.

Giving this particular ship a history and a crew brought it to life in a way that very few fan ships compare to, taking us way past the sense of "hey, here's a ship model with lore" (itself impressive, but always seeming a bit hypothetical) into something that feels concrete and real. When you compare how amazing this and Skyforge etc works all are to Disney it's even more amazing that they did so badly with such a large budget and you do so well. I guess there's just no passion in such a large company for multiple fan favorite IP's to do well.

God I love this, a surprise to be sure but a welcome one. I will always take your New Republic designs, absolutely love your thought process and design language. Also love the smaller things like New Republic uniforms, especially those helmets, my headcanon New Republic infantry look like the concept art Hoth Rebel Commando Unit by Brian Matyas, UN blue helmets suit them well.
What are your thoughts on the New Republic K-wing? I've always disliked the design and combat role as a heavy bomber, and I've once photoshopped it to fulfill the role of a CAS Gunship perhaps as an official replacement to the U-wing. Although a part of me wants the U-wing concept art by Doug Chiang to be the actual successor, with an upscale to fit some light vehicles.
