Lyrics:
Always be around
Don't you know I can see what you're doing?
Runnin' around with your cheap talk, cheap talk, yeah
What I need is a man who can do me right
Do me right
If you've got what I need I can guarantee
To return all the love that you've given to me
But I've got to be sure that you'll always will be around
Always be around, aww, yeah
Do you know what it takes to love me?
Do you know what it takes to do me right?
Do you know what it takes to love me baby, baby?
Heaven knows in my time I've been lonely
Feeling my love echo in my mind, in my mind, yeah
Never satisfied girl's what they call me
But I just can't keep goin' on livin' lies
Guarantee unto me you won't let me down
There's so much I can give but it's buried so deep
I've just got to be sure that you always will be around
Always be around, aww, yeah
Do you know what it takes to love me?
Do you know what it takes to do me right?
Do you know what it takes to love me baby, baby?
Do you know what it takes?
Do you know what it takes?
Don't waste my time with your lies
Yeah baby, I gotta know
You've got to prove
That you will always be around
I'll give you everything
Boy, will you do the same for me?
Will you do anything?
I gotta know, what will it be?
Do you know what it takes to love me?
Do you know what it takes to do me right?
Do you know what it takes to love me?
Do you know what it takes to love me baby, yeah?
Do you know what it takes to do me right?
Don't waste my time baby - Видеоклипы
I'm 39 years old...was in high school during the late 90's...such a great time and great music...feels like a million years ago.
I agree 100% it does feel like a million years ago. I miss this time period so much!
It was great times, I cherish it in my mind
Not to me. It feels like yesterday...the music felt so good!
I’ll be 41 2020 and this girl was a prominent memory
I'm 56 and love her!
The most underrated 90s pop star there is. Love Robyn
@@purejoy1985 I love his music and that song 🎧.
Here in Québec (French state of Canada) this song was beloved and kept being diffused on radio in the mid 90s and early 2000. I actualy have that song on my portable audio player.
Love this song but she did not want to be that big anyways she kept her music in Sweden and the UK
She wanted it that way she did not want them to turn her into Christina Aguilera or Britney spears can't say I blame her. she's also helped other artists make it big in the business she's a producer singer songwriter and she's swedish I love it.
she hit #7 with two separate songs on the US Billboard chart. #29 for the whole year (1997 and 98). Plus two #1 hits on US Dance charts (early 2000s)
.
This reminds me of back when my life was fun.
When my life was fun ?
Shit yeah! Agree fully with that sentiment.
You and me both my friend
Yes! Those were the days
I know right?!!
You can mix Mandy Moore’s Candy perfectly with this track ❤I love all the Max Martin/Dennis Pop late 90’s early 2k songs so much it’s fascinating to hear the layout and formula of the pop music of that era. It’s all different but so similar.
Glad I'm not going crazy bc I just heard this Song for the first time and immediately thought of candy
Yep. Pretty much like the 80s were defined by bright colours, glam, powerful vocals, dance moves, keyboards and synth. The music sounded the same live as recorded as there was very little music magic in the studio like there is now because you had to actually be able to sing and play and dance.
@@raegibson3066 What year were you born?
Lol this explains why I wanna start singing candy
I think Mandy Moore was almost sued because of this.
@2:58 Is the Max Martin, BSB, BRITTNEY vocal breakdown, and it never ever got old. Put that ish on REPEAT and bring me back to the 90's!
BORN 83
GREW UP IN THE 90S GREATEST TIME EVER BEFORE THE INTERNET AND SOCIAL MEDIA RUINED EVERYTHING !!!! WILL FOREVER MISS THAT TIME
Max Martin is a legend! This song makes me feel like I have my whole life ahead of me and anything is possible ❤️
I totally agree with you, for some reason I get into a 90s trance when I listen to this song! Best era for a teenager
Robyn has an incredible voice, so smoky, deep yet almost child-like in pitch.
Y u say that my❤...
@@roshankotian7 She was born Robyn Miriam Carlsson on June 12,1979. She Wrote the ENTIRE Album in 1995 when she was only 16.
The girl can sing. ❤❤❤❤❤❤.
Youngsters of this generation will never understand the awesoneness that 90s music brings along.
Raisa Cherry 80's here
My 19 year old loves the 90's music...... Specially grunge!
Music from the 80’s was so much better!
+dolphinwave242 agree 80s and 70s are packed w/classics BUT I do feel the 90s beats today.
Trying to introduce my friends to Robyn, not working :'(
Who likes the new Robyn but misses the old Robyn like this.
Wow,didn't know she released any new music ..I'm going to have to go check that out. Thanks for posting this comment.
rupwanti Dawson your welcome glad I can help you discover her new music.
I'm 30 years old i miss the 90's
Cierra Willams Same here.✊🏼Sep 17, 1988.👌🏼👌🏼
I'm 36 and miss the 80s and 90s.
I'm 39 and I have the same feeling.
I’m 33... and I also miss the 90s
@@nanungburimu2295 I'm 38.i miss the 90s
The harmonies in this song are so good. Remember hearing it back in the 90s and thinking that it was just a little bit more special than the rest of the pop music at the time for some reason. The Robyn faded from view for a while and seemed to come back to an entirely different audience in about 2010. Incredible songwriter.
2005*
It's crazy when you compare her 90s stuff to what she's doing now. She had one of the most impressive and dramatic shifts in music ever.
True
And then compare her from when you made your comment in 2011 to now in 2023 😮
@@ChatGPT1111what is she doing now? Don’t hear it much
@@Macattack11639 her collab with Röyksopp is out of this world.
Yeah, she went from pop to pop. Very dramatic.
To me Robyn she was like the first Britney Spears Christina Aguilera Jessica Simpson and Mandy Moore of the early and mid 90s cause she was way before all of them and Robyn was ahead of her time as well she's also considered to be a 90s Pop singing legend sensation in her own right and on top of that Robyn she also left a huge door wide open for all those other female pop singers that we have nowadays in this new generation like Taylor Swift Miley Cyrus Lady Gaga Katy Perry and others but nobody can be better than Robyn cause Robyn she's one and only the 80s might've had Debbie Gibson but us 90s people we had Robyn!
Don't like the Britney Spears comparsion. Because Robyn is way more talented. But, i can see where you're coming from. However, the rest of the comparison i do agree. Especially someone like Aguilera. Very similar style.

All of the artists you mentioned have one thing in common. They have hit songs written and/or produced by Max Martin.
This was THE sound of pop from 96-99
Robyn's music has been a part of my playlist since I was a kid!!❤
This beat 🎶 is giving me Mandy Moore 👱🏻♀️ "Candy 🍭" vibes.
I bought the CD single when we moved into this house in 1997! Love this song and it reminds me of happy times
Me too. Only I bought it in 1995
I also bought it im the USA.
Yasssssssssss me too!!!
I remember buying this single too!!! I loved this song!!!
I had a MASSIVE crush on this girl. Voice like an angel!!
Damn! It's hard to believe she was 16-17 in this video. So glad my mom used to listen to her music when I was a kid or else I would've never known who Robyn was.
+AJ H. Good times and '90s music rocks! Glad I was born throughout the '90s although I was born in the 80s. Robyn should've stayed a full fledged pop artist.
Robyn paved the way for Britney Spears. Robyn just wanted to make her music on her terms and that's why she wasn't as big as Britney. I remember buying Robyn cd as a teen. Still rock these tracks! 90s music the best!
Just coming back for some nostalgia. Robyn slayed so hard in this. ☺️
I'm in a bubblegum pop kinda mood right nah. This one surely hits the spot.
This was and never will be bubble gum pop, it was considered R&B
*wipes tears* Robyn thanks for the childhood bops... that i'm not embarrassed to still love now....because they are quality, even now.
Many, many 90s songs had such breezy, vibe-worthy melodies like this song. This song is just blissful to the core.
Robyn's hairstyle influenced a whole generation of soccer moms, elementary school teachers, and lesbians.
That's a 60's haircut.
I like it!
I love the Wiggles too, man. All they did was produce gold rec's.
LOL antiirony
Yes, all too true...but its so deliciously HOT.
Nothing screams like the 90's when you see metallic clothing
That shit was popping at the time
Yeah I remember wearing a lot of shiny silk clothes
😂😂😂😍
Yeah. Reminds me of the Late 90s
Silver puffer jackets! 😂
God I miss the 90's so much!! :-) ugh sooo many good memories!
I miss the 70's!! lol
tom lutz Yeah 70s music is also really good.
@Brian Kenny
Before 9/11 (aka the inside job) destroyed our sense of well being, happiness, and peace.
Same here brother!
@@watershed44 Agreed completely. It was the ultimate insanity (inside job, it was) that infused the whole world with a massive trauma. The beginning of the end of our species.
I'm 44 and I think the 90's was the best decade
or 80s , both equally best
80's was the best🤘🏻🧑🏼🎤 but the 90's are def 2nd best✌🏻😎
Hi
I like to sing
It's the 80s for me... but the 90s rocked in their own specific way
I had this single on CD back when it came out in the '90s. I must have been around 7 years old, and this was my jam. I remember firing it up on my huge CD/cassette/vinyl combo player and dancing like mad around my living room.
I can't possibly be the only one here who thinks that Mandy Moore's "Candy" was heavily derived from this song.
It was. I don’t have the energy to find the links
Yeah it sounds like the same basic backing track.
I thought Candy was by Robyn when I first heard it.
I think the same
O...M...G I'm back in the summer of 98 and I STILL LOVE THIS SONG TO THIS DAY!!!!
her music always floods me with positive energy - what an INCREDIBLE VOICE, all the music is CLASSIC!
2024 and this is still a banger
Her voice is so freaking amazing. I haven't heard this song in.... god, ten years? Still my jam!
Her best song. Another one of Max Martin's pop music gems.
All the 80z babies know what it takes :) love this song and her first album...reminds me of my teen-hood.
I was 7 years old when this song out and I still remember ALL THE WORDS ‼️
i remember this on the radio as a kid. man i miss the 90s
Now this one definitely takes me back to 1996 when I came out here. It was on the radio a lot. I can remember having this blasting on my CD player. Man what an adventure.
Robert Scarborough Yes :)
Robert Scarborough are you from pacoima?
Same girl!!! Listening in my room with my Leonardo DiCaprio posters everywhere...with my pogs and nano baby
It came out in Europe in Late '95. It didn't crossover to the US until June 1997.
ALBUM DATE is 1996. Single released in the EU on November 96 and its US release about the same time. (It peaked in summer 1997.)
Loved Robyn growing up. Makes me think if she influenced Pink.
niya bell I always thought the same thing, pink was very similar when she first came out
Pink is edgier than Robyn
*Damn, I Miss The 90s*
#BestDamnYearsEver! 🌟
the butterflies i had in my chest when this song came on at my 6th grade school dance and i got to kissed my girlfriend. Im 35 now and i still think about that night. Damn we were so young and had so much fun.. when getting to kiss your girl at a school dance was the best thing that could ever happen to you. WOW its crazy how a moment of happiness is emediately followed with tears.. I miss being a kid. #80s baby/90s kid
Man, seems like Mandy Moore's handlers ripped this song off almost straight up for her debut single Candy.
Archie Ward I know I always listen to candy after I listen to this
I caught that when they were released
Both great songs! 😍
Max Martin. He produces everything from Robyn to Mandy to Britney to Katy to even Adele...Damn Swedes.
Phillip-Anthony Rodriguez I agree! There are many talented Swedish producers: Max Martin, Denniz Pop, Avicii, etc. Ace of Base as a group made some good songs too.
Max Martin is so great! Most of my favorite pop songs, I later found out that he co-wrote and/or produced them. He’s like the Mozart of contemporary pop music.
Still impressed and love how Robyn musically grew up but is still connected to her roots. She is just one of the greatest!
damn this sounds like candy by mandy moore but robyn is the OG. i've never seen her this young... i discovered robyn later in life. she sings lowkey like an R&B singer w/ those runs!
1997 I miss you.
+tophat 97
+tophat The album was released in the US in '97.
+tophat I Googled it.
Aghhh... Ma lei é bruto, allora i adesso
totally
I heard this song at the grocery store today. Hadn’t heard it in years and immediately starting singing
Still one of my favorite songs
WOW!!!! I didn't realize Robyn was so awesome. Brilliant music.
I am just now finding out about this song (as of March 5, 2018) via the Wikipedia article for Mandy Moore - “Candy”. It says that the beat and melody are based on this song. I love how they are both similar yet different at the same time. They’re 90s teen pop which is now classic as it is 20+ years old and it takes me back to good times. :)
Not quite but similar
@@unofficiallatinamericanist I corrected my comment.
When this song came out I had just started dating someone who would soon became the love of my life❤️. Here we are still going strong in 2020 and this song always puts a smile on my face and brings me right back those early days. ☺️🥰❤️
I miss ROBYN sooo soooo much .😍😚 im avid fan since1997.
Who's with me? 😊😊😊 anyway I'm a fan from the Philippines
This song a whole vibe!!!
This is not fair. Why can’t I just go back in a time machine and go back to the 90s. Best time of my life. I used to go to sleep to 90s pop
Because the point of life is that it's supposed to IMPROVE in all aspects of it... maybe this is one area where it kinda took a weird turn lol... or maybe we were just too sheltered (even as teenagers) to see the perils of life??!
lucky as hell, im 19 turning 20 in may and i just wish i could
experience the 90’s and 2000’s so bad
This is still a million times better than what’s out today
the production on this, the melody and her vocal . . . all superb courtesy of Max Martin
🎵 guarantee unto me, u won't let me down .. lol, Robyn definitely delivered a 90's dance pop classic, that had us getting our groove on 🕺🏽
Pushing 40 here but remember the great's of the 90s and this was one of them, show me love still kills it now.
I miss childhood!!
I will never forget the sound of the 90. It was the best.
9/11 really changed everything. Especially music like this pre 9/11
Who's boppin to this in 2021?
Also listen to Mandy Moore song called Candy basically the same song.
Still a jam and brings back instant nostalgia
This song is an explosion of nostalgia
Love this song. Secret jam music your embarrassed to like, and hide it when others come around.
Onslaught808 Yeah I know what you mean.lol
I know what you mean. Back then this was the case, but not anymore .
Why would you be embarrassed to like this kind of music?
tangelai0111 because back when this song popular, most guys my age (teenager at the time) were listening to male grunge/alternative groups and hiphop/rap.
I call those “guilty pleasures” hahah I have so many! Especially from the 90s...best childhood ever!
I remember when I used to leave the radio on at night waiting to catch this song back in the day.
Love the miss the 90s the music was amazing then :)
Imagine for the '90s, Robyn is always quite perfect! 😂❤❤🎵🎶
This song would still hold up today.
The kids today would still dig bubblegum pop from the 90s.
Max Martin you are a genius . Robyn - vocal goddess
Today she's a totally different type of artist, she took control of her career and has an authentic style. I appreciate her first songs too essentially because they show her vocal range. I really like her voice in this song. Anyway did anybody notice that Mandy Moore's "Candy" sounds a lot like "Do You Know (What It Takes)"?
Yeah you nailed it. They are damn near the same song. I guess that's why I loved them both as a teen.
many moore's is kind of a cover, dumbass
xIpodTouchGoeroex
It's not a cover since both songs have different names in the songwriting credits and the lyrics are different. Search the meaning of the term "cover", brainless moron.
xxxTIN0xxx it is a cover, they bought the rights, get rekt dumbass
xIpodTouchGoeroex
This song is written by Robyn, Herbie Crichlow, Denniz Pop, Max Martin. Mandy Moore's Candy is written by Denise Rich, Dave Katz, Denny Kleiman and Tony Battaglia. It's not a cover, nobody bought rights, who wrote Mandy Moore's song slightly copied this one and you're an IDIOT.
One of the best pop songs of the 90s hands down. I didn't know this song had another video version apart from the US version, it's the first time I watch this one.
...I sure do miss the 90s! Those were the best times of my life!
👍🏽💯😊
agreed!
If you search this song by yourself you're a legend ☺️✨
One of my favorite pre Britney Spears pop singers of the late 90s. I remember this song was huge on the radio in my high school freshman year. I think I also remember Robyn being a bit of trend-setter for teenagers with her short blond hair.
Pre leann to me his a full package to me better than pop star era Britney to me
I heard this song and Show Me Love in the 90s but never knew what she looked like.
Now I'm even more in love.
Such a great voice.
Mandy Moore stole this exact beat for Candy. God I’m happy to have been born in the 83. I got to see all the great pop be born.
Remembering sayin "dang...this chick can sing." I Miss the 90s
Back when it was fun to be young!
✨ ❤️My FAVORITE ROBYN song, tied with "Show Me Love". ❤️ ✨
She's really unique in that subtle but unmistakable way that only Swedes are able to pull off well. So beautiful inside and out too.
Just turned 34, damn it I miss the 90s!
Now this is real pop music
SO SO 90s absolutely love it ?
Why can’t I take a Time Machine back to 16 … LOL!
Lol! I only noticed the similarity of the vibe between this song and Mandy Moore - Candy today, after all these years!! Both are great songs!/
Max Martin I believe produced this song?? He's the producer behind Britney Spears 1999 CD release..A really good tune..
Yep. At Cheiron, the studio Max Martin was at, they shared a lot of the same drums and used similar drum patterns, so a lot of songs produced there sound the same.
Yes he speed up reggae music and that’s where his sound came from.
Gotta love the baseline
Love my late 90's pop
Holy hell, Total flashback. I had no idea Robyn even sang this song until I downloaded her discography and it popped up on my iTunes. I was, WTF, How did this song get on my iTunes and then I saw it was a Robyn song. Wow. & in my defense, I was only 6 when this song was released. Haha!
totally different Robyn than today. she's since
morphed into a sea urchin
brkitdwn Yeah that's nice to say.....
brkitdwn 😂😂😭
Man Max Martin is such a Legend!
I wish I could go back to those times..
The 90's was an amazing time of music!!
My favorite of Robyn's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do you know... I miss you like candy. LOL!
Listen to this song and then go listen to Mandy Moore's Candy song.
90's pop music sound was great for audiophile's it was loud crisp and clear even better sounding than todays music audio wise and music in general
Omg this takes me backkkkkkkk
Love her!!!. Period
This reminds me of how p!nk first started out. Although they both did great in their debuting genres it just wasn't them and came across too forced. Plus they're obviously having loads more fun singing in their respective genres now and it projects through the art of it all!
19cosmo91 right?!?!?!
Nope...i prefer rnb pink. Most girls, there you go, the whole missundaztood album...
MrBegliocchi Not gonna lie, I agree with you, I loved her when she 1st came out in RnB. I like her still but, felt more of a connection to that miss understood album
No Robyn pulled this off well!
