Me too. I struggle with depression for years and my negative thoughts about things but I gotta listen to positive things like this to keep my sanity and focus.
This morning, this song just started playing in my soul, and it wasn't a mind thing if that makes sense. Reading some of these comments makes me realise the power of music. I'm now praying 🙏 this over my kids 2 who are stressed about studies in University 2 who have different struggles. God says great will be your children's peace Isaiah 54 v 13 -15
My Mama use to play this when she was cleaning the house on Sundays, my Mama passed a few years ago and when I hear this it inspires me to brush myself off❤ now pregnant at 33 with my first child I play this daily for my unborn child. It truly makes my soul happy and I hope it's something that will stick with my child forever like it has me😊😊
Congratulations on your child, and I'm truely sorry for your loss. I've lost my mother back in january , and I know the feel of a mother's touch is irreplaceable. Teach unto your child what your mother has passed onto you. Your mother will live on through that. Stay strong, and carry on.
People don't understand how much of a powerful impact music like this has on kids!! I come from a crazy family in Africa and suffered from depression from a very young age...i can remember when I was around 8 how nice this song would make me feel...cause it was positive and such good advice, something I lacked getting as a child. I disowned my whole family and now stay I'm the USA and have a family of my own. Im now 30 and still looooove this song so much wish Des'ree knew how far her beautiful song brought me❤
I was a single mom and bought this cassette single to keep me motivated. My son is now 31. This song kept me so focused and motivated. Thank you, Lady D!
Yes ma’am very same thing here I’m a single mom of two girls they’re now 10 & 7 years old. This song has been on my playlist motivation for years now even since I was a child myself it’s so very beautiful 💜
I'm a very strong woman. Went through one of the TOUGHEST time in my life about a decade ago and this song saved my life. Updated: No words can describe how beautiful and incredible amazing you all are. How could there be any thought to the amount of love shown here. The feeling is exuberantly beautiful. Thank you. Happy New Year 2021!
*This song is a shout out to people who* *left toxic relationships, bullied, came* *out of depression, survived any form* *of cancer, harmful addictions and for those that was* *mentally or sexually* *abused. Shout out to those incredibly* *resilient individuals who have had to* *rely on their automobiles for shelter.* *Also a shout out to people in loving* *marriages that's still going strong* *This one is for YOU*
move sky I genuinely feel so sorry on your behalf. That is very sad. I’m sure it probably has to be one of the hardest things you’ve ever had to handle. I hope you’re able to one day come to terms with that in your own way and find yourself in your new life without his being a part of it. So many hundreds of thousands of people are out there going through feeling similar to yours. Sometimes it helps me to remember that at the hardest times in my life, I’m not the only person who is feeling what I feel. You know? It can help to remember that you’re not alone. Sending you my best wishes and hopes for you and everyone who was left behind after his passing, from one human to another. 💕 This song unites us all.

My mom loved this song so much. She passed in 2005, from cancer. Hearing this reminds me of her strength and courage despite what she was facing. I hope to be a fraction of the person she was. Love you mama.
Im sorry for the loss of your mom. My mom passed away January 3,1998 from breast cancer and I was only 12 at the time and I never stop thinking about her and I even named my oldest daughter after her
My husband sang this to me as I was in labor pushing my hardest. He's a big manly Marine and this caught me off guard. One of my happiest memories in life.
La magia de la música que te transporta a épocas, está canción hace parte de la adolescencia de los 90's en Cali aquellos que escuchaban otra alternativa a la salsa y que además iban a discotecas como barbarelas, The factory la época en qué el parche era en el andén con los amigos
Songs like this were the reason the 80s and 90s seemed so peaceful. There was hope and positivity in the air... I wish we could have continued to build on that positivity.

Cool, calm & collected I'm an existentialist I believe I exist both within myself and outside of myself, but my spirit and soul are one & I'm all for beautification and the empowerment of women regardless & irrespective of nature. Indiscrepantly we must slowly but surely bring an end to discrimination, don't ever hold hate in your heart or live in fear be fearless and unafraid of what tommorow might bring. I feel that this is not the ideal world & life is by no means perfect, but I think people could be kinder & at least try and care properly, but it's a very, very mad world. And I'm having an exostantual crisis black is white, and white is black, but I am grey a whiter shade of pale, but you've gotta be bad, you've gotta be bold, you've gotta be wiser, you gotta be hard, you gotta be tough, you gotta be stronger, sometimes I wonder if GOD is a woman which is silly but I bet he has a mum so if all else fails their is someone to hug him. I don’t know if you’ll ever see this, but I had this song on tape when I was a kid. I put it in my Walkman and on repeat while I rode my bicycle around my neighborhood. I came from an abusive home and this song kept me going, and continued too when life continued to challenge me. I’m happy to say I’ll turn 35 next week and I can share this song (my favorite song) with my 4 year old. Thank you and many best wishes to you and anyone out there needing a sign that everything will be ok! Listen to these words, trust in yourself, and the universe will listen. 🙏❤️
Can I please give you some advise, from the heart? I know how you feel but the moment you stop focussing on finding a suitable partner, and focus on different things, like...anything you're good at, like painting or learning something new or paragliding for all I care. The minute you don't care anymore how other people perceive you, you'll meet someone. It happened to me that way, twice. Somehow people have a "nose" for someone that looks too hard.
@@BrainExerciser75212 How on earth do I love a man that I don't know, that I've never even met and who's dead for 2000 years? I'm sure he was a nice guy and all. But that's a bit too much to ask.
@@kanawearllc6750 Good shout! I've loved that song since the day it was released and I love the Lauryn Hill production but the message doesn't work so well if you're male. Gotta be is universal.
I was born in 81 and my adolescence was in the 90s, I was so blessed to grow up in an era of meaningful music. This song here is timeless, I say no more 😊
You can’t help but the feel the energy and intention with which this song was written ❤️ It was written to inspire, move and empower and years later it still continues to punch you in your soul
In 2023, this is STILL one of my go to songs to uplift my spirit and get me motivated. I'm not saying there's no good music out there, but the 90's was a magical vibe unto itself, and Des'ree was the Queen 👑 of positivity, light and love!
Simply one of the greatest, most motivating and genuinely beneficial songs I've ever heard. A timeless classic. This single alone is sufficient for Desree's fame and legacy.
We hope to immortalize this song by using it to honor a apparition of the Virgin Mary seen by over one million people at Clearwater Florida on the large windows of Seminole Indian office building as a lady rainbow 🌈 with a brown face.
He sounds like a wonderful man. I lost my dad three years ago and I’m still struggling to work out who or what I am having spent a long time as his carer. Dad’s who sing to their kids are a very special dad. Here’s to all the special dads 💛
I recently lost both of my grandparents, all within the span of a month. They were sunshine to me. My grief at this time is immeasurable but this song gives me courage. It feels like they're speaking to me through the lyrics.
Kyle... I’m sorry that you have loss both of your grandparents. Hold on in your memories those days you got hugs from them, the days they made you laugh & smile and remember the wisdom that they had passed onto you! Be Blessed darling!
San Qiang Li What are you talking about, I heard a song from Eminem just the other day about beating the shit outta bitches and stuffing them in the trunks of cars, best advices evar!
May 2024. Amazing memories here. As an English teacher in China, I had teenage Chinese kids singing this in class in 2006. Hoping there is a whole generation of Chinese kids in Hainan trying to be hard tough and stronger. And cool and staying together.
In 1995 after a tearful goodbye to my mom this song was playing on the radio as I pulled away from my house. I was flying halfway around the world to follow my heart. So this song has a very special place in my heart!
I’m literally crying rn. I haven’t heard this song in years and my mum raised me on old school songs. She didn’t pass away but I finally realise what the lyrics mean😌💕
Mc LBJ shes a very young woman in this music video. I think its that she comes across as "mature" because she is dressed and carries herself as a grownup (which she is). Now we have women in their mid twenties dressing and acting like teenie boopers.
This song has gotten me through so much. Whenever I feel like life is crumbling, I go right back to this song. It's like taking my first breathe after feeling like I've been drowning. I write this as tears roll down my face because life has gone in so many directions and sometimes all this change scares the life out of me. I just got to stay together.
I hope you know that the true eternal Love in this world only come from God. God is love, he that loveth not knows not God for God is Love (1 John 4:8). Seek Him. Repent of your sins and give your life to Jesus Christ the only Lord and Savior of the world. He saves us. He saves our soul and not only our soul, but our hearts too! He is our only hope. Jesus loves you! God bless
Remembering my granddaughter 's kindergartener class singing this as their exit song preparing for 1st grade. How empowering long before I knew what empowering meant.
Everytime i feel like giving up or going crazy! This song really soothes me! Makes me wanna stand up and say hey this beautiful lady is right! Gotta be braver, tougher, wiser in a calm and loving way! :)
I'm 26 years old right now. Will be 27 in a couple of weeks. If you're around my age, you probably remember hearing this song a lot on PBS Kids/WTTW (Channel 11 in Chicago) every morning around the time that Sesame Street, Barney, Arthur, etc. was coming on back in the 90's and early 2000's. This song as well as the version of Somewhere Over The Rainbow by Iz Kamakawiwo'ole made PBS Kids lit asf. LBVS
Derrick Jackson I know you commented this two whole months ago, but just want to let you know reading this comment made me shed a tear. I’m a few years younger than you, but am in my twenties, I was born and partially raised in Chicago. Channel 11, is where I first heard this song. Same with the Over the Rainbow. I remember the programming block with Arthur, Wishbone, Between the Lions, etc. And it really takes me to a state of serenity, of a child’s imagination. A colorful place I guess. It’s three in the morning and I don’t live in Chicago anymore, haven’t for 13 years, but that is by far one of my most beautiful memories in an otherwise sort of strange childhood. Thank you so much for this comment.
I graduated from high school when this came out.. and I was taking a plane to college and I was so scared . All alone, then I heard this song. Meant so much to me at that time. And still does...
How did you take it back then? Wasn't it kinda annoying? 😅 Not that it was not a kind act- it really sounds sweet! I just personally didn't take my mom very serious at that age when she tried to deliver a message to me through song or poetry 😅
im a '93 baby and i remember listening and loving this song, and i still do!!! it is encouraging, comforting, and uplifting song!!! this is such a good song, i tear up every time i listen to this song!!! she has a beautiful, calming voice!!! love the message!!

I come back to this one again and again. It truly is uplifting. We need more of that.
@@sadiek8785 you still been a little girl then this music helps you nowadays.

I'm 35, and a white male. This song uplifts me through my depression that I'll never find anyone in this cold world. Thank you for this one.
U will find someone... wait... there is good people. I am waiting too... but I dont feel it like a necesity I just want to travel
La vie trouve toujours son chemin
Find Jesus first to find out what real love looks like, everything else will fall in line.
If ever there was a song that embodies motherly wisdom and love, it is this one.
I love your way with wording , its a beautiful way to describe this song. You put into words what i couldnt. Thank you .🎯❤

In 2023, this is STILL one of my go to songs to uplift my spirit and get me motivated. I'm not saying there's no good music out there, but the 90's was a magical vibe unto itself, and Des'ree was the Queen 👑 of positivity, light and love!

Yes ooo
Simply one of the greatest, most motivating and genuinely beneficial songs I've ever heard. A timeless classic. This single alone is sufficient for Desree's fame and legacy.
100% true... Well said about it... ♥️
We hope to immortalize this song by using it to honor a apparition of the Virgin Mary seen by over one million people at Clearwater Florida
on the large windows of Seminole Indian office building as a lady rainbow 🌈 with a brown face.
You Got That Shit Right
HELL YEAH
My dad, in his Indian accent, would sing this song to me in the car!
🤣 As a fellow Asian, this made me howl. Your dad sounds great
Music knows no colour xx ❤️ go dad
Beautiful ❤️

He sounds like a wonderful man. I lost my dad three years ago and I’m still struggling to work out who or what I am having spent a long time as his carer. Dad’s who sing to their kids are a very special dad. Here’s to all the special dads 💛
Closing 2024 with this tune! Anyone here?

My third grade teacher used to play this for us everyday coming to class. Had no idea how much she tried to motivate us to believe in ourselves.
I recently lost both of my grandparents, all within the span of a month. They were sunshine to me. My grief at this time is immeasurable but this song gives me courage. It feels like they're speaking to me through the lyrics.

Songs like this is why I'm so thankful for being a 80's baby. Kids of today do not have music like this to keep them positive through tough times.

I totally agree
damn the 80s and early 90s had a ton of positive songs. seems like its only gotten more nihilistic, purposeless since

May 2024. Amazing memories here. As an English teacher in China, I had teenage Chinese kids singing this in class in 2006. Hoping there is a whole generation of Chinese kids in Hainan trying to be hard tough and stronger. And cool and staying together.
If you grew up listening to this kind of music, THEN YOUR CHILDHOOD WAS AWESOME!!!!!!

When women in music were still allowed to be older, elegant, thoughtful and not selling sex.
2019 still rocking this queen
Yes!! The song has s such quality that you don't need to be distracted!
Really? Oh come on, she's 25-26 here. Can't believe you're that obtuse.
i gotta be honest. She is pretty damn sexy!
Mc LBJ shes a very young woman in this music video. I think its that she comes across as "mature" because she is dressed and carries herself as a grownup (which she is). Now we have women in their mid twenties dressing and acting like teenie boopers.
absolutely you are x
This song has gotten me through so much. Whenever I feel like life is crumbling, I go right back to this song. It's like taking my first breathe after feeling like I've been drowning. I write this as tears roll down my face because life has gone in so many directions and sometimes all this change scares the life out of me. I just got to stay together.

I hope you know that the true eternal Love in this world only come from God. God is love, he that loveth not knows not God for God is Love (1 John 4:8). Seek Him. God, man I feel old knowing when this song came out I was just a child. Time really flies.
LBVS
Derrick Jackson reading rainbow?? Haha my childhood! Dont forget Wishbone! I was born in 91.
Less Is More Oh yes. Wishbone was one of my favorite shows.
I'm same age as u, from Yugoslavia so I grew up to 90s music like Let's Get Loud, I Got The Power, Smoth Operator ...
@@lessismore8533 me too. i was born in '91. meaningful time indeed
This song couldn’t be more relevant today than ever, talk about timeless ❤️
while the 80s was about great party pop hits and rock ballads, the 90s was about emotion
80's were the best
80s was full of emotions child. Some of the best love songs

The way I see it, the 80s were all about singles while the 90s were all about musical albums.
