Crystal, today is March 9th, 2019. Today I was in Sanford, Maine. Had a little family gathering at Applebee's to celebrate a birthday for a Grand Daughter who just turned 11, at the end of February. During our meal, my Daughter, sitting next to me, said "Dad, Charles and Eddy". This song was playing on the radio. I could barely hear it over all the hustle and bustle in Applebee's. Then my daughter said "Dad, you bought this album and mailed it to me." Was going through a nasty divorce from her Mother, at the time. Kids in the custody of their Mom, so I was a weekend Dad for a very long time. Anyway, I had not heard this song in many years, so I didn't even remember Charles and Eddy, when my Daughter mentioned them. Today I have been thinking about why I would have bought the album with this song, and then mailed it to my Daughter. I guess at the time, the moodiness and message of the song really hit home for me, while being very confused and stressed with divorce, and not understanding a damn thing, if I ever did, about the failure, of relationships, or marriages. There was a lot of "lying" going on, that boggled my mind! I was stupid, and a naive young Father and never was confronted by deviance in any relationship, like I had discovered in that first marriage. I guess I felt there was something in this song that my Daughter might sense or feel, that would be like a "heads up" warning, or some such thing, and thinking back, that had to be my reason, for mailing her the cassette? I am sentimental that way, I guess. Glad to know, you also have this song, as a connection to your Dad. Sorry you have lost him from this "physical world". My Children lost there Mother in 2018, and yesterday, March 8th, would have been her 60th birthday. Life is weird, all disconnected, yet very connected, and who can figure it out! It was really nice to hear this song again. It's still a good one! Kind of spooky and thought provoking to see that quick scene in the video of the Twin Towers, off in the distance, beyond the bridge.

This is one of those songs that had slipped into the cracks of my increasingly fractured memory but suddenly popped up in the RUclips recommendations list. I always enjoy "rediscovering" songs like this.
Charles Pettigrew was actually my Third Cousin. I never got the chance to meet him as I was born in 2004 but to know that I am related to someone who made such wonderful music is an honor.
47 years old french man still listening to this in 2023. When my wife and I are thinking about something that makes us smile, there's always one of us just singing the "Oh yeah !" from this tune and we both burst out laughing. So many good memories 🙂
Right? The drums and backing vocals are very classic sounding with only a handful of 90s touches thrown in, which set it apart from a lot of the later New Jack Swing and 90s R&B it shared radio space with. Only Lenny Kravitz's "It Ain't Over till It's Over" nails retro feel this as well as "Would I Lie to You?" does from that era. Reading through all the comments, everybody seems like they hadn't heard it in ages. I hadn't either. When I got it stuck in my head one day and looked it up on RUclips, I was actually shocked to learn this wasn't a Motown or Philly Soul Classic from the 60s-70s. I think I assumed it was an Oldie when it came out and I was in High School, being a little Grunge weirdo. I barely paid attention to it back then.
" I guess what I'm really trying to say, it's not everyday that someone like you comes my way ", oh darling Marley ❤❤ .. This song is dedicated to you angel ..

RIP Charles. God bless. What a great song!
are you the guy in the woods off the course on happy gilmore
The songwriters/producers really captured a nice motown feel/sound here. Even the drum pickup at the beginning.
These guys truly had a magical connection n their vocals were perfectly patch. 'Duophonic' was a masterpiece debut album ✨

Classic songs never die!!! They just sit back & wait patiently until the next “it” song/movie/video dance and/or challenge to come up and goes viral. This song is a classic (1 hit wonder)?! Just like wine; older the better (milf$) ;)
That moment 1:52-1:54 😍❤️😂 ; this is such a nostalgic beautiful song!❤️ #favsong
"I'm telling you baby you would never find another girl in this heart of mine" What a line!
